  • Problems installing LYNC on non-domain controler

    I have two servers in this set up. AD and EX, the domain is called mydomain.net The AD is a Windows 2008 Server (32 bit) with Active Directory installed AD only has it's own ip in the DNS-servers list AD.mydomain.net does resolve correctly in the dns EX is a Windows 2008 R2 that is connected to the mydomain.net-domain EX only DNS server is the ip of the ad.mydomain.net There are no firewalls running between the two servers When trying to install Lync 2010 on the EX server I get the following error "Not available :Failure occurred attempting to check the schema state.Please ensure Active Directory is reachable." I can control the AD from EX, also login to it and do successful checks like netdom query /domain:mydomain.net fsmo ...that resolves correctly I suspect there is something fundamentally wrong with my setup, maybe Lync need a 2k8 R2 ad?

  • How to use private DNS to map private IP with "non registred" domain name

    I would like to use a private DNS (Route53 in our case) in order to map hosts to EC2 instance private IP addresse. The hosted zone we are using for testing is not declared in any registrar (company-test.com.). There are different servers (Nagios, Puppet, ActiveMQ ...) all hosted in ec2, that means their IP can change over time (restart, new instance launch...). That would be great if I can use DNS instead of clients' /etc/hosts for mapping private IP/internal domain name... The ActiveMQ server url is activemq.company-test.com and it maps to (A record) private IP address of the AMQ server. This url is only reachable by other ec2 owned by the same aws account. My question is how to configure ec2 instances so they could reach the ActiveMQ server WITHOUT having to buy a new domain company-test.com ?

    I am sick of buying cheap host-based printers that have bloated drivers, randomly fail to print, and won't work over a network. Is it possible to get a good color network printer for under $200 that doesn't have those problems? I don't care if it's laser or inkjet; I don't print enough for the ink cost to matter. I just want something that I can plug into my network, set up sharing on my PCs, and forget about.

    I have the following: MAC PRO (Model Number: A1186) (PCIe - SLOTS) At present I am using the software RAID however I wish to move to the hardware raid because of the following: Performance (4 x 300gb SATA II in RAID 5) Redundancy (Raid 5, 1 drive can fail and system will be online) I do not wish to use the Apple RAID card (very expensive), I would like to use an aftermarket one which is cheaper. Questions: Does anyone have a WORKING aftermarket RAID card working in their MAC PRO (TOWER)? -(Have done some research, ROCKETRAID, need confirmation) If so to the above, does it work from boot?     I have a Django website where some of the URLs need to be served over HTTPS and some over a normal connection. It's running on Apache and using WSGI. I just need a few settings to be different for the secure server, which is why I'm using a different WSGI script. Alternatively, it there's a way to change settings in the settings.py file based on whether the connection is secure or not, that would also work. Thanks

  • I'm receiving an SSL error in various browsers, but I can't find non-SSL content

    I'm receiving an error with my SSL connection. Using google chrome I see the following error: Your connection is encrypted with 128-bit encryption ... however this page includes other resources which are not secure I've scoured the source code, scripts and rendered code in the browser but cannot find where an http:// call is made. I've also used Fiddler2 to examine the traffic and everything is coming across via HTTPS. Has anyone run into this issue before and if so how did you go about finding the culprit. The website is running ASP.NET MVC3 in C#. The page in question is a simple payment page. The only external call is the google analytics tracking code. The page appears to load correctly, all images and scripts are in place.

  • xp stop error 50 page fault in non paged area

    I have a laptop that fails to boot with the BSOD error: "page_fault_in_non_paged_area" STOP: 0x00000050 (0xEC6B738D, 0x00000000, 0x8649308C, 0x00000000) The laptop has 2 memory DIMMs. I removed each DIMM one at a time and the error remained with just one DIMM installed. I have run spinrite 6.0 on the hard drive no errors found. Booted to recovery mode and ran CHKDSK /R, it found and fixed errors but still gets the stop error. Any other suggestions to try?

  • Replacing all disks in a non-OS RAID 5 volume

    Hi all, We currently have a server with 8 x HDD slots. It is a HP DL380G5 with a P400 controller. 2 x HDD are in a RAID 1+0 config and this hosts the OS. 6 x HDD are in a RAID 5 config and holds an Oracle DB. Basically the RAID 5 volume is running out of space and we would like to swap all 6 with higher capacity disks. Excuse my ignorance as I am pretty new to this... I believe we will need to backup the data, delete the RAID volume, insert the new disks, recreate the volume, and restore the data. 2 questions: Do we need to worry about the OS partition or is it completely independent so we can simply take out the 6 and insert 6 new disks and get the controller to recognize the 6 new disks and form a new RAID 5 volume? We should not need to reinstall OS or Oracle correct? Since we are going to restore the data on the volume from another source (our vendor will take care of this) but we would like to keep the existing data on the 6 disks just in case we run into issues and want to fall back, is this possible?     I have smtp auth set up on my exim4 Dqueeze server so that only auth'ed clients can use it as a mail relay. I believe this is working, e.g. thunderbird (w/out password) reports that I am "not yet authorised to send mail for X from Y". I also have greylistd installed, which I also see to be working. But I've noticed that when an unauthorised connection is made the error is temporarily rejected RCPT <[email protected]>: greylisted Should greylisting be taking effect here? Surely it should just be saying "go away, you're not authorised" rather than filling up a greylist queue?

I know that we can use few variables like PKG_CONFIG_PATH and switches like --prefix with configure to get a software installed in a local directory, but sometimes when there are recursive dependencies it is becoming tough for me to install all the packages manually. Is there a better automated way? Update: What i meant by recursive dependencies is: to install package A, i should install package B, which in turn requires package C to be installed

  • Prevent audio recording applications from picking up non-microphone audio output

    When talking to people over Mumble/Teamspeak/Ventrilo, I have a few who are broadcasting all of their audio output (e.g. music playing in the background, game sounds, etc.) whenever they are sending -- in addition to the microphone signal. I don't have this problem myself, so it's hard for me to troubleshoot remotely, but I'm interested in collecting solutions for this problem for Windows XP, Vista and 7, so that I can link them to this question. Links to other related SU questions are highly welcome as well, but I couldn't find any. Most people seem to try to either get microphone to feed back into the audio output or turn exactly that off, which is different from this problem. I'm talking about the opposite problem, the output being fed into the input.

    On Linux, if I've cd'd around and am now in a directory, is there a way to figure out what the real path to that directory is if I had not used a symbolic link to get there? Consider: $ pwd /home/dave/tmp $ mkdir -p 1/2/3/4/5 $ ln -s 1/2/3/4/5 5 $ cd 5 $ pwd /home/dave/tmp/5 Or: $ pwd /home/dave/tmp $ mkdir -p 1/2/3/4/5 $ ln -s 1/2/3/4 4 $ cd 4/5 $ pwd /home/dave/tmp/4/5 Is there any way to figure out that /home/dave/tmp/5 is really /home/dave/1/2/3/4/5 ?

What could have caused such strange permissions (500) and how can i set it back to an normal level (555) ?   • Firefox: non-Vimperator way to do mouseless browsing?

    Is it possible to do efficient browsing with Firefox using only the keyboard (like in Opera)? By efficient I mean something faster than using TAB - this takes far too long. The arrow keys should be for navigation (in Opera it is Shift + arrow key). It can done with the Vimperator add-on, but isn't there a simpler way? Update 2: the closest to Opera's way is to enable caret navigation (F7 toggles this mode). It doesn't jump between links so it is a little bit slower, but the normal navigation (arrow keys, page up, page down, etc.) works and the focus/caret/cursor follows (in contrast to a text editor for page up/down). And text can be selected and copied like in a text editor. The biggest drawback is that in practice it is necessary to switch in and out of caret mode. And there is no indication of which mode is currently active. Update 1: a work-around (proposed by several but is not really what I am looking for) can be used if 3 settings are changed (to make it practical). After these changes the first few letters of a link text can be typed and that link will selected so pressing Enter will open it. Using the work-around the screen will jump around if it is a long page as it does not restrict itself to the current visible page, but it is usable. First settings change: menu Tools/Options/Advanced/tab General/Accessibility/Search for text when I start typing Turn this option on. Second settings change: set option to only go to links; in address bar enter: about:config followed by Enter. Then: press "I'll be careful, I promise", find the line accessibility.typeaheadfind.linksonly, select it and change the value to True by either hitting Enter or Shift+F10/Toggle (accessibility.typeaheadfind.linksonly is on line 11 when I tried). Third settings change: turn off case-sensitivity. Set accessibility.typeaheadfind.casesensitive to 0 (same procedure as for accessibility.typeaheadfind.linksonly, see above. When Enter is pressed a dialog box will appear with the current value. Type 0 and press Enter). To use: type some part of the link. If there are several possibilities use Ctrl+G (or F3) to jump between them. Use Ctrl+Enter to open in a new tab. Platform: Firefox 3.0.6, Windows XP 64 bit SP2.

  • Backup Source (non source control)?

    I back up my code with svn. I have project files in there however i ignore selected things. I also ignore jpg, ogg, etc. Right now i would like to backup everything. However the zip result is 1gb (i have a lot of code). I know i can cut down the filesize by 60%+ Is there an app i can use which will backup everything except the bin and obj folders? perhaps keep ogg, json, jpg files but ignore .svn or .pdb files?

    Hello Guys, I know, this is not the recommended way to do this. But, I do not have another choice: I've got to set up a cron job that will regularly upload a file to an external SFTP Server (no FTP available, and I do only have a username/password for it but no key.) Still, I need to set up a cron that will regularly connect to that sftp and upload a file. sftp <<EOF put filename exit EOF therefore will not work, because sftp asks for the password, before STDIN is evaluated. What can I do, to pass the Password to sftp? Again: I am aware of the potential security risk, but I really do not have any choice here, and the server from which the file is uploaded is protected rather well.

    I would like to make my apache2 webserver serve both http and https on the same port. With the different method i tried it was either not working on http or on https.. How can I do this?   • Make a file non-deletable in USB

    Somebody used my USB drive and upon returning it to me, I found a autorun.inf that is undeletable. I tried changing it's file attribute which is only H (not even set as a system file) but it keeps on saying Access Denied. The USB is set on FAT32, upon asking my friend, he told me that he uses Panda USB Vaccine http://research.pandasecurity.com/Panda-USB-and-AutoRun-Vaccine/ How do they do this? Im trying to use some Disk Sector editor but have no idea which hex file they change to make this kind of file and make it deletable again. Formatting the drive removes it, but I'm curious as to how to be able to set those kind of file attribute.

  • iptables -L lags on non localhost or anywhere address

    I am trying to configure iptables for ubuntu 10.04 and I have a problem with iptables -L lagging on rows where the destination or source address is not localhost or anywhere. The following entries will cause lag on their row: iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 111 -s 192.168.1.14 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 90 -d 192.168.1.14 -j ACCEPT while this does not: iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport localhost -s 192.168.1.14 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport localhost -d 192.168.1.14 -j ACCEPT I feel like this might be due to iptables checking to see if the ip is reachable. If not, what is the cause, if it is how can I disable it?

  • Non-OEM Biometric Software?

    Most of us with fingerprint readers and such devices probably use the software provided by the vendor, to enable biometric OS login or single sign-on functionality. However, I've recently wondered if there is any third-party software that will do the same thing. This would be similar to how you don't need the manufacturer's software to use a scanner, printer, or webcam - you just use their drivers and your choice of software. Is there anything like this for fingerprint readers or other biometric devices? Free or Open Source projects are preferred, but I'd be interested in learning about any existing solutions regardless. I personally am particularly interested in Windows-compatible software, but I'll leave the query open for any OS.
