• Disable Return key outside textareas on a Asp.Net web page (containing ajax code)

  Hi, I have an Asp.Net web page, having the common Asp.Net form. The outer "border" of the page (i.e. main menu, header, ...) is build using normal Asp.Net code using a master page. The content of that page uses jQuery to display dynamic forms and to send data to the server. If I push the return key on that page, I jump to a (more or less) random page - which is not what the user expects. ;-) There are some text areas and the user must be able to enter line breaks. Otherwise it would be fine to disable the return key completely. Any bullet proof way to do that? I found some solutions on the web, which capture the keypress event and ignore \x13, but that does not really work. It works as long as the page has just loaded, but as soon as I have clicked on some elements, the return key behaves as usuall. Any hint would be really appreciated! Achim

  Hi I have a Reports.aspx ASP.NET page that allows users to download excel report files by clicking on several hyperlinks. When a report hyperlink is clicked, I open a new window using the javascript window.open method and navigate off to the download.aspx page. The code-behind for the download page creates a excel file on the fly using openxml(in memory) and send it back to the browser. Here is some code from the download.aspx page: byte[] outputFileBytes = CreateExcelReport().ToArray(); Response.Clear(); Response.BufferOutput = true; Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet"; Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", string.Format("attachment; filename={0}", "tempReport.xlsx")); Response.BinaryWrite(outputFileBytes); Response.Flush(); Response.Close(); Response.End(); My problem : Some of these reports take some time to generate. I would like to display a loading.gif file on my Reports.aspx page, while the download.aspx page is requested. Once the page request is completed, the loading.gif file should be made invisible. Is there a way to achieve this. Perhaps some kind of event. I have mootools to my disposal. Thanks PS. I know that generating reports like this is not ideal, but thats a different story all together...

• Creating a Facebook session for getting page info

  I am trying to get info on a page that my user is admin for. This user has granted my fb_connect app offline access. I have saved the session_key that allows offline access (it has the user's id in it). I am able to publish to this fan page with this session key. But when I try to access the page's info I get an SessionExpired error. This doesn't make sense. • RegisterStartupScript doesn't appear to be working on page postback within update panel

  OK - so am working on a system that uses a custom datepicker control (I know there are other ones out there.. but for consistency would like to understand why my current issue is happening and fix it). My issue is that this all works fine when I load the page. But if I select something from a dropdownlist causing a page postback - when I click into my date fields they stop working. As in I should be able to click into the textbox and a nice calendar control appears. But after postback there is no nice calendar control appearing! It's currently all wrapped (in the hosting page) inside an update panel. So I comment out the update panel stuff and the dates are working after page postback. So it appears to be something related to that update panel. Any suggestions please? Thanks!!

• Crystal Reports.NET problems accessing FieldObject for page count

  Hi, We're using Crystal Reports.NET that was bundled with VS2005. We have a confirmation booking form letter report that we want to batch print. Generally this prints one page per person on letterhead paper, however occasionally if they've booked lots of courses the letter rolls over to two pages. The second page should not be printed to letterhead paper. Basically, because it's a rare occurance I was just going to print the lot and pause if a particular letter went over 1 page. I.e. Load the report, grab the page count, hollah at the user if it's more than one page otherwise carry on regardless. I have dropped a TotalPageCount on the footer of my report (Which I would supress if it worked!) and then try and read it in my application. Once I've loaded the document I am trying to call report.ReportDefinition.ReportObjects("TotalPageCount1") Which is of type CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.FieldObject I cannot seem to get the value out of this for love nor money (nor any amount of cursing and swearing!) I can read any items of type TextObject, but if I append the TotalPageCount to a text field, it shows correctly in the report but then returns "Page count: TotalPageCount" rather than "Page count: 1" for example. Soo, short of going out of my mind, does anyone have any suggestions? Either a way to read the value or a way round it. The printer doesn't have multiple trays, though even if we got one, I'm not sure how to convince crystal to print different pages to different trays. • How should I handle multiple links ot the same page with different Query Strings

  In the website I am working on, there is a product page with 8 tabs on it, showing different aspects of the product. There are quick links on other pages within the site that take you to the page and to a specific link specified by a query string. For example the base page would be www.example.com/Product1. And then there are links like this: www.example.com/Product1?tab=CADDrawing www.example.com/Product1?tab=Schematics www.example.com/Product1?tab=Reviews My concern is that Google sees each of these links as a different URL but they aren't and the data on the page is 100% the same. Is there any easy way to make it so Google either knows that www.example.com/Product1 is the base page or doesn't follow the links with Query Strings? I thought about using rel="nofollow" but that seems like it would actually hurt my page ranking. Most of the websites, including Googles on webmaster pages, is unclear. The other option is to add the rel="canonical" to the pages that have a query string but not to the base page. Does that succeed in stopping all of the noisy links?

• pyPDF - Retrieve page numbers from document

  At the moment I'm looking into doing some PDF merging with pyPdf, but sometimes the inputs are not in the right order, so I'm looking into scraping each page for its page number to determine the order it should go in (e.g. if someone split up a book into 20 10-page PDFs and I want to put them back together). I have two questions - 1.) I know that sometimes the page number is stored in the document data somewhere, as I've seen PDFs that render on Adobe as something like [1243] (10 of 150), but I've read documents of this sort into pyPDF and I can't find any information indicating the page number - where is this stored? 2.) If avenue #1 isn't available, I think I could iterate through the objects on a given page to try to find a page number - likely it would be its own object that has a single number in it. However, I can't seem to find any clear way to determine the contents of objects. If I run: pdf.getPage(0).getContents() This usually either returns: {'/Filter': '/FlateDecode'} or it returns a list of IndirectObject(num, num) objects. I don't really know what to do with either of these and there's no real documentation on it as far as I can tell. Is anyone familiar with this kind of thing that could point me in the right direction?

• How to pass javascript/jQuery settings from page to page in rails?

  When doing javascript manipulation of what's visible, how does one pass that from page to page (ideally in Rails)? For example, let's say I have the following simple jQuery code: <% link_to "Next Page", report_path %> <div class="clickable-div" style="background-color:#FFFFFF;"></div> <script> $('.clickable-div').click(function () { var color = $(this).css("background-color", "#000000"); }); </script> If it's not clear, the code is just supposed to change the color of the div based on whether or not it has been clicked. Regardless, there's also a link on the page that allows someone to go to the reporting page. What's a way to pass the state of the div to the action call? EDIT It seems unnecessary to do it in a session - am I wrong? This is just something from one page to the next, I couldn't care less anywhere else on the site. EDIT 2 To confirm, Rails needs to have access to the action that occurred in Javascript on the previous page.

• jQuery: responding to click event of element added to document after page load

  I am writing a page which uses a lot of in situ editing and updating using jQuery for AJAX. I have come accross a problem which can best be summarised by the workflow described below: Clicking on 'element1' on the page results in a jQuery AJAX POST Data is received in json format The data received in json format The received data is used to update an existing element 'results' in the page The received data is actual an HTML form I want jQuery to be responsible for POSTing the form when the form button is clicked The problem arises at point 6 above. I have code in my main page which looks like this: $(document).ready(function(){ $('img#inserted_form_btn').click(function(){ $.ajax({'type: 'POST', 'url': 'www.example.com', function($data){ $(data.id).html($data.frm); }), 'dataType': 'json'} }); }); However, the event is not being triggered. I think this is because when the document is first loaded, the img#inserted_form_btn element does not exist on the page (it is inserted into the DOM as the result of an element being clicked on the page (not shown in the code above - to keep the question short) My question therefore is: how can I get jQuery to be able to respond to events occuring in elements that were added to the DOM AFTER the page has loaded?

• Refresh page using cache

  I am trying to refresh a page, but WANT to use the cache and can't figure out how to do this. There are two situations: If I click in the URL bar and hit enter (or visit the page from somewhere else) it reloads the page/images from the cache. GREAT! If I click on the refresh button or use Javascript to refresh the page it grabs all the images again and takes forever. NOT GREAT! I've tried: top.location.reload(false); and top.location.reload(true); (I'm sending this from in an iFrame) and neither used the cache. I'm avoiding using location so it doesn't end up in the browser history twice. Question: How do I reload the page using the cached images? Is there a different javascript function or is this a mod_expires issue? Thanks for any help in advance! EDIT: (info from chrome: developer tools) When navigating to the page I get "From Cache" for all images When refreshing page I get "304 - Not Modified" for all images (and it takes the time to download each)

• How do you implement position-sensitive zooming inside a JScrollPane?

  I am trying to implement position-sensitive zooming inside a JScrollPane. The JScrollPane contains a component with a customized 'paint' that will draw itself inside whatever space it is allocated - so zooming is as easy as using a MouseWheelListener that resizes the inner component as required. But I also want zooming into (or out of) a point to keep that point as central as possible within the resulting zoomed-in (or -out) view (this is what I refer to as 'position-sensitive' zooming), similar to how zooming works in google maps. I am sure this has been done many times before - does anybody know the "right" way to do it under Java Swing?. Would it be better to play with Graphic2D's transformations instead of using JScrollPanes? • Where should I put zoomIn in my MapActivity?

  I'm writing an Android app, and I'd like to zoomIn as soon as the map has been loaded. I get the following error: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: width and height must be > 0 This MapActivity - width and height must be > 0 question suggests the problem is the zoomIn() method is in the onCreate() method. But I get same error when I put it in the onResume() method. I've been searching for hours and I can't find anything about it at http://developer.android.com or anywhere else... Also I can't find a way to get the time point the map has been loaded. A "MapLoadedListener" or something like that... • Move camera to fit 3D scene

  Hi there. I'm looking for an algorithm to fit a bounding box inside a viewport (in my case a DirectX scene). I know about algorithms for centering a bounding sphere in a orthographic camera but would need the same for a bounding box and a perspective camera. I have most of the data: I have the up-vector for the camera I have the center point of the bounding box I have the look-at vector (direction and distance) from the camera point to the box center I have projected the points on a plane perpendicular to the camera and retrieved the coefficients describing how much the max/min X and Y coords are within or outside the viewing plane. Problems I have: Center of the bounding box isn't necessarily in the center of the viewport (that is, it's bounding rectangle after projection). Since the field of view "skew" the projection (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Perspective-foreshortening.svg) I cannot simply use the coefficients as a scale factor to move the camera because it will overshoot/undershoot the desired camera position How do I find the camera position so that it fills the viewport as pixel perfect as possible (exception being if the aspect ratio is far from 1.0, it only needs to fill one of the screen axis)? I've tried some other things: Using a bounding sphere and Tangent to find a scale factor to move the camera. This doesn't work well, because, it doesn't take into account the perspective projection, and secondly spheres are bad bounding volumes for my use because I have a lot of flat and long geometries. Iterating calls to the function to get a smaller and smaller error in the camera position. This has worked somewhat, but I can sometimes run into weird edge cases where the camera position overshoots too much and the error factor increases. Also, when doing this I didn't recenter the model based on the position of the bounding rectangle. I couldn't find a solid, robust way to do that reliably. Help please!

  Hi everyone, I am developing a Facebook page for my web design/development business, and I've noticed that the page I have created has the tabs aligned to the left hand side of the page underneath the page image. I then look at other pages such as Wetherspoons and Porsche and their tabs are aligned to the top of the page. Why is it like this? Very important to say that on windows 7 I have this working. May be this is because I don't see ASP.NET area in management window?   I was using phpmyadmin(in Wamp) without a password for root. I thought to set a password for root and goto Privileges page and set a password for root. Now whenever I go to localhost/phpmyadmin page it gives me the following error. MySQL said: Documentation #1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO) phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server. I don't know that what is the problem. It is not showing me a login type page to enter a username and password. Any idea that what is the problem ? Thanks

• Re-open Word document to previous cursor location with identical page vertical position

  I would like to return to my previous point of edit with the page vertically positioned identical to its original vertical position. The Shift+F5 technique returns me to the previous point of edit, but the page I return to is vertically positioned on the screen in a somewhat random manner. In other words, if my cursor is 300 vertical pixels from the top of the document viewport, I would like to re-open my page so that the location of the cursor is still 300 vertical pixels from the top of my viewport. The following can be used to determine the vertical position (on the screen) of my text cursor: ActiveWindow.GetPoint pLeft, pTop, pWidth, pHeight, Selection.Range So the challenge becomes how to scroll my document in such a manner as to return my text cursor to its original vertical position (pHeight)? There is no corresponding ActiveWindow.SetPoint and ActiveWindow.ScrollIntoView scrolls a selection range into view, but offers no control over the vertical position of the selection range on the screen.

• Visio 2013 - how to rotate the entire page?

  I would like to rotate an entire page, including all of the shapes and text on it. I see here that you can supposedly hold down Control and click-drag the corner of the page to do it: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/visio-help/rotate-a-page-HP085050946.aspx ... however I can't get this to work. Hovering over the corner does nothing initially, and when I hold Control the cursor becomes a scale/resize icon, rather than a rotate icon (per the MS article I linked to above). I have tried other modifier key combinations while hovering, but nothing seems to produce the rotate icon mentioned.
