  • Upload a Photo to Facebook with REST API and Ruby

    It's much harder than you'd think: http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Photos.upload The tricky part is how to create the MIME multi-part message in Rails, which Facebook requires. I'm also using a Ruby Facebook API gem (mini_fb) which signs my other requests, and in addition to having no idea how to set up the MIME multi-part, even if I did I'm not sure how to add in the required signature values with the gem. Please help!

  • django custom management command does not show up in production

    I wrote a custom management command for django. Locally with my dev settings everything works fine. Now I deployed my project onto the production server and the management command does not show up, respectively is not available. But I did not get an error message deploying the project (syncdb). Any ideas where I could try to begin to search? Is there a special command that all custom management commands are "autodiscovered"?

  • WPD on XP, Vista, and 7 (need to transfer photo and video files)

    I need to transfer files (still photos and videos) from any portable device that a user may connect (still camera, video camera, mobile phone, etc.) I don't need to worry about plain storage devices as these have drive letters. And I only care about existing files, I don't care about live video, preview video, taking new pictures, etc. I originally tried WIA, which works great except it can not transfer video files. So then I tried WPD, following along with dimeby8's tutorial: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dimeby8/archive/2006/09/27/774259.aspx I haven't gotten the transfer working yet (I'm converting it over to C#), but I can at least see the device and enumerate the files in Win7. In XP I get nothing. It's pointed out in this thread that WPD won't enumerate devices on XP (see Lisa O [MSFT]'s post): http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/windowssdk/thread/56459945-b757-45df-8c9f-4ebdbbb18a2c So WIA is out because it won't do video. And WPD is out because it won't do XP. Has anyone gotten this to work? Am I missing something simple here? Thanks.

I've been impressed by trac but I don't need its bug tracking feature as we already use Mantis. I'm having a look at iceScrum which seems feature-full and shiny but a bit cluttered. A solution that integrates into eclipse would be a plus.

  • Django Photologue - use photo with original compression

    hi, I´m uploading photos with Django Photologue. Is it possible to leave the jpgs as the are? Even if I tell photosize to use Highest Quality compression the files end up having half as many kb as the originals. I must admit that the visable loss of quality is small but as i am a photographer i would like the images to apear exactly as i edited them (photoshop). I don´t need any of photosize´s cropping and effects tools. Can it be turned off completely? thanks for your answers.

    Hi! Currently I'm searching for a free solution to simple edit some photos at the users browser. Resizing and Cropping would be mandatory. I'm not searching for an online service (for example SUMO or PIXLR which are great), because I want to include the software into a WYSIWYG Editor. JavaScript would be really nice, but it would have to work in IE 8. Pixastic is a great example, but works only in modern browsers (not IE 8 :-/) Any suggestions what I could use? Maybe setting up some kind of image processing service with ImageMagick and communicating with it through AJAX could also be an solution? Has anyone gained some experience with such a solution?

    Hello All, I'm trying to familiarize myself with Facebook's new Graph API and so far I can fetch and write some data pretty easily. Something I'm struggling to find decent documentation on is uploading images to an album. According to http://developers.facebook.com/docs/api#publishing you need to supply the message argument. But I'm not quite sure how to construct it.     I am looking for papers/algorithms for merging projected textures onto geometry. To be more specific, given a set of fully calibrated cameras/photographs and geometry, how can we define a metric for choosing which photograph should be used to texture a given patch of the geometry. I can think of a few attributes one may seek minimize including the angle between the surface normal and the camera, the distance of the camera from the surface, as well as minimizing some parameterization of sharpness. The question is how do these things get combined and are there well established existing solutions?

    Hi all i want to know there a limitation in size for an iphone to display an image? as the resolution of iphone is 320*480 px. i am developing an app which fetches photos from an URL and that URL contains some photos os size 600KB.So when i launch the app in simulator it behaves properly but in device the application crashes as soon as photos with higher resolution are displayed , and when lower resolution photos are displayed the app does not crash in the device.

  • What things must I know about OpenAL memory management?

    I am playing sound with OpenAL, and it seems to increase memory footprint dramatically for every little sound I play. It seems that OpenAL never frees memory itself and that playing a Source causes memory footprint to grow. I couldn't find any good resources about OpenAL memory management, but I bet I must do a lot of stuff myself. Maybe someone knows a ressource for that?

  • How can I use Three20 to create a dynamic TTThumbsViewController that feeds from a website directory?

    Hello, I'm pretty new to the iPhone developing scene, and I am designing an app for a high school band program. Part of the app needs to be an image gallery that retrieves photos from a directory on the band's website and lists them in the thumbnail view. I can't figure out how to create a thumsview that isn't directly linked to specific pictures. I currently have this setup to work with a UIWebView that points to a PHP photo album designed to look like the iPhone Photo Album. This method works, but it is not ideal, and the navigation is obviously a bit less than what would be expected. Is Three20 the right tool for this job? If not, what should I be using? Thanks!

    I am creating an iPad application and in it I would like to let the user select an image from their photolibrary using the image picker, then I would like to put that image into a template,kinda like a picture on a card then I would like the user to be able to edit the text on the card then saving it into the saved photos album on the ipad. How would I go about doing this in code. I am new to iphone/ipad development but this isthe only thing so far I'm having problems with.
