    I know it's not a programming question but I'm in a hurry to choose a netbook like this and I haven't been able to find the minimum system requirements for an R installation (e.g. minimum RAM).     I'm using Subversion 1.6 and WebSVN. I'm looking for a simple tool, that would enable me to add custom comments to SVN revisions. So I would be able to see the stream of incoming revisions and mark which of them I already reviewed. An ability to share the comments with other programmers would also be a welcome addition, but it's not necessary. Could you recommend any tools for this?

  • How do you composite an image onto another image with PIL in Python?

    I need to take an image and place it onto a new, generated white background in order for it to be converted into a downloadable desktop wallpaper. So the process would go: 1) Generate new, all white image with 1440x900 dimensions 2) Place existing image on top, centered 3) Save as single image In PIL, I see the ImageDraw object, but nothing indicates it can draw existing image data onto another image. Suggestions or links anyone can recommend?

  • What's a good library to do computational geometry (like CGAL) in a garbage-collected language?

    I need a library to handle computational geometry in a project, especially boolean operations, but just about every feature is useful. The best library I can find for this is CGAL, but this is the sort of project I would hesitate to make without garbage collection. What language/library pairs can you recommend? So far my best bet is importing CGAL into D. There is also a project for making Python bindings for CGAL, but it's very incomplete.

    If I wanted to learn about pattern recognition in general what would be a good place to start (recommend a book)? Also, does anybody have any experience/knowledge on how to go about applying these algorithms to find abstraction patterns in programs? (repeated code, chunks of code that do the same thing, but in slightly different ways, etc.) Thanks Edit: I don't mind mathematically intensive books. In fact, that would be a good thing.
