  • use dll from remote computer

    i have two computer PC1 and PC2 in PC1 i have a .Net C# dll file that provides operations on sql server database. my question is - "how can i use this dll file on PC2 through VBScript within Outlook 2003". I tried this same task on PC1 and i succeeded using the CreateObject("dllfilename.classname") method of VBScript within outlook 2003. but now i want to use that dll file on PC2. is there any efficient way by which i can use that dll on PC2 without having to copy dll on PC2.

  • advice on working on remote asp.net applications

    Hi folks, I'm a (relatively new) developer using asp.net with VB.NET. Currently all my applications are developed on my PC and then are built and moved onto the web server. I'm going to be working remotely for 3 months in which time I'll be connecting to the company network via VPN. What is the best way to access my projects? I need to have the projects stored on the company network so that others can access them too. So simply copying the projects to my laptop, working on them, then copying them back won't suffice. I tried to just open the projects off of the network share but am getting application trust problems. I'm just wondering what other developers do in this situation? Jonesy

  • Trying to run psexec to remote to server and recycle app pool

    If I run this from my command prompt it works fine. psexec \ServerName cscript.exe iisapp.vbs /a AppName /r I'm trying to do the same thing with C# console app. I'm using the below code but most of the time the application hangs and doesn't complete, and the few times it does it throws an error code. Am I doing this wrong?   • Adobe Flex, loading a remote swf

    I have a flex app running on my server. I have had a request from some clients to have the swf loaded on their server, so that their customers dont have to be transferred to my server to login; i.e. from the user's point of view it looks like they are logging in from theirsite.com instead of mysite.com I tried something really simple, and that was to give them a html wrapper to host on their site. The only modification that I made was to change the "src" var to: "src", "https://www.mysite.com/app/myapp.swf" and embed src="https://www.mysite.com/app/myapp.swf" To my surprise, this worked perfectly. And best of all, the service calls still seem to come from mysite.com, so I dont have to bother with modifying the crossdomain.xml file. All good it seems. Are there any issues or downsides to the above that I should be aware of?

Then I installed Oracle XE client on my Test machine which is also working fine and I can access Development PC database from Browser. Now, I want to create an ASP.Net application which can access that Oracle XE database. I tried it too, but it always shows me an error on my TEST machine to connect database to the Development Machine using ASP.Net.   • C# Desktop Application "Encounters an error and has to exit" on first run of the day

    Hello, It seems I tend to attract strange issues. This time, I have written a C# application, and handled most of the exceptions I can find. The problem is, when I run the installed/bundled version on any PC for the first time in a day (after the PC has been shut down and started after a while) it comes across some error and has to shutdown the application (even though the try-catch block surrounding the Main() does not fire). The application does not throw the same error on subsequent runs. I added an #if(!DEBUG) ... #else ... #endif surrounding the Main() code. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

  • What is the Simplest Possible Payment Gateway to Implement? (using Django)

    I'm developing a web application that will require users to either make one time deposits of money into their account, or allow users to sign up for recurring billing each month for a certain amount of money. I've been looking at various payment gateways, but most (if not all) of them seem complex and difficult to get working. I also see no real active Django projects which offer simple views for making payments. Ideally, I'd like to use something like Amazon FPS, so that I can see online transaction logs, refund money, etc., but I'm open to other things. I just want the EASIEST possible payment gateway to integrate with my site. I'm not looking for anything fancy, whatever does the job, and requires < 10 hours to get working from start to finish would be perfect. I'll give answer points to whoever can point out a good one.   • Android Remote Video with Titanium

    Greetings all! I'm trying to play a video that is hosted on our webserver on an android phone. I've already built this for iPhone and it works great. Droid, however is a different issue. Instead of getting video, I'm just getting a black screen, no error or anything. The code I am using is: activeContent = Titanium.Media.createVideoPlayer({ contentURL: content, backgroundColor:'#111', movieControlMode:Titanium.Media.VIDEO_CONTROL_DEFAULT }); win.add(activeContent); activeContent.play(); The video I'm downloading does play on the droid when not using Titanium, so I know its not a format issue. (its an .MP4 incase anyone is wondering.) I've used Titanium SDK's 1.5.1 and am on the continuous build of 1.6.0 from earlier today. using the 2.2 Droid SDK, and Titanium Developer 1.2.2 Does anyone have any thoughts on this? One of the big selling points for android is its ability to pull media from the net, and I'm honestly a little concerned about this shortcoming if its an issue with Titanium.

But when the file is residing on another server, the problem creeps in. Below is how I modify the flashvars. <param name="flashvars" value="autostart=false&content=http://myxyzsite.com/Private/Media/funny.mp4&color=0x000000,0x000000" /> This article explains how to load files from another server. When I point to this URL (http://myxyzsite.com/Private/Media/funny.mp4) in my browser directly, Open/Save dialog box is popped up. So the file exists. Should I set any HTTP headrs, say Content-Disposition to Attachment?

That way, if my vendor suddenly changes the exact URL or the XML feed that the app needs, I can update that Web page and ensure that all installations of the app are using the correct XML feed. Does anyone have any advice or examples showing this kind of approach? It seems as if this must be a common problem, but so far I haven't found a well-established design pattern that fits it.

However on my host's apache 1.3.41 server, I get the following error: [Sat Mar 5 21:42:14 2011] [alert] [client [ip]] /home/_/public_html/mysite.com/.htaccess: RewriteRule: cannot compile regular expression '^/?([^/]+?)?/?([0-9]+?)/([0-9]+?)$'\n I imagine it's something quirky about the apache version as other sites on this host use mod_rewrite without a hitch. I've tried removing the +followSymlinks line, even the rewrite engine line. I haven't tried removing the conditions cause I don't think I should have to, I'm probably wrong.

There's quite a bit of info including geotags and these are going to be mapped on my app. The developer site has the very informative piece of information: You can use the network (when it's available) to store and retrieve data on your own web-based services. To do network operations, use classes in the following packages: java.net.* android.net.* Like I said in my previous question, I'm still very much an android newbie, and trying to remember my java oop from college is slow. Does anyone have an example of how this might work, or how I could implement it? I wouldn't mind even connecting to a local xml file, if I could find a good example of how to do that!? Am I just looking in all the wrong places?! Help. Please! T

    hi guys, i was wondering how could i deploy/make it into an installer for an app which is created using vs 2008 express. i know that the setup and deployment feature is only available via the full version of visual studio right?   • Windows Service on NetworkService account can't access remote (shared) directory

    I'm trying to remotely access a shared folder with a Windows Service set to NetworkService account permissions. However, I get errors when I try to do this, e.g. Directory.Exists(servicePath) returns false, FileSystemWatcher doesn't recognize activity in the directory. If I change the service's account to LocalSystem, these methods work. I don't want to give the service root-level access, though. It seems to be a permissions problem, so how can I give the service permission to access the directory and monitor it?
