• Can't Reorder a UITableViewCell into _some_ empty sections of a UITableView

  If I have a UITableView in edit mode, w/ reordering turned on, it seems I can't move some (but not all) cells into some (but not all) empty sections. For example, if I have this layout : Section 1 apple banana Section 2 doberman Section 3 Section 4 Then I can move 'doberman' into any slot in section 1 (except after 'banana'), but I can't move it into section 3 or 4 at all. On the other hand, I can move 'apple' & 'banana' into section section 2 (except after 'doberman'), and I CAN move it into section 3, but NOT into section 4. What gives? this seems like buggy behavior. How do people work around it? Is apple aware of this bug?

• Have a reloadData for a UITableView animate when changing

  Hi everyone. I have a UITableView that has two modes. When we switch between the modes I have a different number of sections and cells per section. Ideally, it would do some cool animation when the table grows or shrinks. • Why No NSAttributedString on the iPhone?

  Hey guys, Does anyone know what made Apple leave out NSAttributedString when turning AppKit into UIKit? The reason I ask is that I would really like to use it in my iPhone app, and there appears to be no replacement or alternative than doing it myself... It is possible to have mixed font attributes on a string - it's just a hell of a lot of work to to achieve something similar that was possible with a few lines of code with NSAttributedString. Also, doing all this extra drawing code myself makes my table view cells really heavy, and really hurts performance. Anyone got any ideas? Any genius's working on an opensource alternative to NSAttributedString?

• Automatically compute variable upon input in SPSS

  I have two cells in SPSS, months is a number of months, years_from_months is the number of years, calculated from the months (decimal: months / 12). What I want is that years_from_months is calculated (and updated) automatically, when I finish entering the months in months, i.e. that I don't have to explicitly call compute manually through the menu. I have defined years_from_months to calculate the years, but at the moment the field only updates when I go to the menu option Transform Compute variable ... and click OK in the window that opens. How can I set up the cell to update automatically (like in Excel)?

• iphone: custom UITableViewCell taller than the default cell view.

  Hello, I'm creating an application that consists of a ListView with 5 rows: - 1st one containing a graph - 2nd to 5th rows containing some data with the same formatting. I have created 2 classes: GraphCustomViewCell and DataCustomViewCell. Depending upon the position of the cell I load the correct CustomCell with: NSArray *topLevelObjects = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"GraphCustomViewCell" owner:nil options:nil]; for(id currentObject in topLevelObjects) { if([currentObject isKindOfClass:[GraphCustomViewCell class]]) { cell = (GraphCustomViewCell *)currentObject; break; } } That works fine except that the first row, the one corresponding to the graph, is bigger (in height) that the 4 other rows, and as a results it hides the 3 first other rows. Is there any option in the table view that enables the custom cell to expand the default cells ? I'd like that the 5 rows (graph + 4 data rows) to fit the entire screen (480 - tabbar's height). • EXC_BAD_ACCESS when not using self.

  I got nabbed by the following bug again and would like some clarification to exactly why it is a bug. I have a simple UITableView that loads some data: // myclass.h @property (nonatomic, retain) NSArray *myData // myclass.m @synthesize myData; - (void) viewDidLoad { ... myData = someDataSource // note the lack of self } - (UITableViewCell *) cellForRowAtIndexPath ... { ... cell.textLabel.text = [self.myData objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; // EXC_BAD_ACCESS } The table first loads fine, but when scrolling up enough that one of the cells is totally out of the view I then get the EXC_BAD_ACCESS error. Am I missing something in regards to @property retain. My understanding is that it releases anything that the pointer was previously pointing to before the reassignment. If I am correct then why would not using self. cause any problems? Thanks for the help.

• Why is this leaking memory? UIImage `cellForRowAtIndexPath:`

  Hey. Instruments' Leaks tells me that this UIImage is leaking: UIImage *image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:[imagesPath stringByAppendingPathComponent:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"/%@.png", [postsArrayID objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]]]]; // If image contains anything, set cellImage to image. If image is empty, try one more time or use noImage.png, set in IB if (image != nil){ // If image != nil, set cellImage to that image cell.cellImage.image = image; } image = nil; [image release]; (class cell (custom table view cell) also releases cellImage in dealloc method). I haven't got a clue of why it's leaking, but it certainly is. The images gets loaded multiple times in a cellForRowAtIndexPath:-method. The first three cells' image does not leak (130px high, all the space avaliable). Leaks gives me no other info than that a UIImage allocated here in the code leaks. Can you help me figure it out? Thanks :)

  I've looked everywhere and I can't find it. I have a UITableView that contain rows of "checkmark" cells. The user clicks on a row to check/uncheck it. (It works!!!!) But I also want to allow the user to EDIT the data on that row. ... so I have an "EDIT" button at the top. The user hits it and is allowed to DELETE any rows. (That works too!!!!) But how do I also detect a "tap" on that row. Where is there some kind of a didSelectRowAtIndexPathWhileInEditMode ???? (Is that really the best way to do this: Allow "selections", and "deletions", and "editing" of each row?)

  Hi I was looking for a way to call the edit method directly. - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)theTableView commitEditingStyle:(UITableViewCellEditingStyle)editingStyle forRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath I have all my logic for animating manipulated cells, removing from my model array etc. in this method. It is getting called when a user swipes, adds or rearranges, but I would like to call it manually/directly as a background thread changes my model. I have constructed an NSIndexPath like so: NSIndexPath *path = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:i inSection:1]; I just can't figure out how to call something like: [self.tableview commitEditingStyle:UITableViewCellEditingStyleDelete forRowAtIndexPath:path]; Do I need to gain access to the methods of this plain style UITableView in another way?   Hello, I'm trying to write a Delphi program that will loop through each worksheet in an Excel file and format some cells. I'm receiving an error while trying to use the for-in loop over the Workbook.Worksheets collection, though. The error is specifically: [DCC Error] Office.pas(36): E2431 for-in statement cannot operate on collection type 'Sheets' because 'Sheets' does not contain a member for 'GetEnumerator', or it is inaccessible The line of code this occurs for is: for Worksheet in Workbook.Worksheets do The definition of Worksheet and Workbook is as follows: var ExcelApp: ExcelApplication; var Workbook: ExcelWorkbook; var Worksheet: ExcelWorksheet; I'm porting this code to Delphi from C#, in which it works.   Ok so I'm not in a table cell at this point. (I've seen a lot of threads regarding the height of cells.) I have a detail view with a title and description at the top of the view, followed by a tableView below it. If the description is going to vary in length, how do I get the tableView to adjust with it accordingly so it always starts directly below it? I see apple doing this in the app store application. If you look at an application description (as if you were going to buy it), they have an application description, and wherever that ends a scrolling pane of screenshots follow. How do they do the varying height on the text description like that? Are they doing this all programmatically or can I use the layout controls in IB to do the same thing?

• If you delete a DOM element, do any events that started with that element continue to bubble?

  What behavior should I expect if I delete a DOM element that was used to start an event bubble, or whose child started the event bubble - will it continue to bubble if the element is removed? For example - lets say you have a table, and want to detect click events on the table cells. Another piece of JS has executed an AJAX request that will eventually replace the table, in full, once the request is complete. What happens if I click the table, and immediately after the table gets replaced by a successful completion of an AJAX request? I ask because I am seeing some behavior where the click events don't seem to be bubbling - but it is hard to duplicate. I am watching the event on a parent element of the table (instead of attaching the event to every TD), and it just doesn't seem to reach it sometimes.

  Hi Folks, I have a problem in an iPhone application. Application has a table view controller with custom table view cells. Each cell has a Label (please correct me if I need to use text view etc). I am getting text dynamically from a web service call and I don't know how long text gonna be. Now problem is that I want to adjust the table view cell height based on text I receive. How can I grow Label or TextView height withinin table view cell so it can contain all the text and in effect grow table view cell height. Does anyone know how to handle this kind of design problem? • TStringGrid with BOTH editing AND range selection?

  Question: Can anyone point to an article or code samples anywhere on how to provide BOTH editing AND range selection in a TStringGrid? Yes, I KNOW there are third-party grids that do this, but it's frustrating that the built-in grid lacks this basic capability. Background: It's pretty normal to expect to be able to both edit a cell in a grid, and also to select a range of cells such as for a Copy operation. As delivered, TStringGrid doesn't do that. It's either/or. In fact, the docs tell us about the grid Options, "When goEditing is included in Options, goRangeSelect has no effect". However, it looks like it may be possible to do editing and rangeselects in a TStringGrid anyway!!! Through careful use of the mousedown, mouseup, selectcell and exit events, you can get dang close by switching editing elements on and off at the right times. But I still don't have it perfect, and that only covers mouse use, not keyboard changes.

• How can I override an HTML "rules" attribute using CSS?

  The DITA Open Toolkit automatically inflicts some inline table attributes when one publishes to HTML, including frame="border" and rules="all". I need to override this "rules" attribute using CSS styles for cells, and while I can get the desired result in IE and Chrome, Firefox puts solid black gridlines in the table and refuses to budge on the matter. Obviously I can't edit the HTML, company policy is to not edit the XSLT, so how can I remove these gridlines using CSS alone? I've tried various cunning combinations of border-xxxxxx styles and given them !important declarations to no effect. Thanks, Andrew

  I'm sure this is a fairly common problem but I'm new to CSS so I'm not sure how it's done. I tried searching for the issue but sometimes it's tricky to get the right keywords. I have a table the width of which I want to be constrained by a specific row. My table css is as follows; table { border: 1px solid #ccc; width: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; } I have one row which contains cells for which I want the width to autofit and two rows of prose which currently force the table to take 100% width. How do I constrain the latter to have at most the autofit width of the first row? If tables aren't the way to go and this should be pure css and divs, how do you get one class to adopt the fixed but unknown width of another? Thanks, Gav

  Hi! I have a WHILE loop that loops through a table as long as $i is less than 10. I want this loop to assign the INNERHTML of each cell to a variable. So that I can use it later on to process the information (the loop is because you can choose if it has to take first 3 or first 10 cells). But how do I assign every innerHTML to a different variable? But look like both the author and answerer have already abandoned it. v(hexagonSide - hexagonWidth * hexagonWidth): What's hexagonSide and hexagonWidth? Isn't it will < 0 (so square root can't be calculated). And, can I put a hexagon into a rectangle? I need to create a grid like this: One more thing, how can I arrange my array to store data, as well as get which cells are next to one cell? I have never been taught about hexagon, so I know nothing about it, but I can easily learn new thing, so if you can explain or give me a clue, I may do it myself.

• Attributed strings in UITableViewCells without WebView?

  Hello, does anyone know if there's a way in with 3.0+ to display attributed strings within a UITableViewCell without using a UIWebView for that? I need to display a string with linked, tappable substrings as the typical detailTextLabel. I wouldn't mind exchanging this UILabel against another type of view, but I think a UIWebView could be just too slow when rendering a table with hundrets of cells. Or does someone have opposite experiences here? So my question is: what's the best way to achieve mixed strings in a very large table without a great performance hit? I searched for this almost a whole day now, but I can only find old posts mentioning that there's no attributed string on the iPhone (outdated, as this was pre-3.0) and/or saying that they use a UIWebView for that. But really, I don't think this would perform very well on large tables, would it? Many, many thanks in advance Arne
