• Sharepoint Lists.GetListItems Method rowLimit problem

  In SharePoint I am using the default view of a list. When I use GetListItems method I can pass into it the following: public XmlNode GetListItems ( string listName, string viewName, XmlNode query, XmlNode viewFields, string rowLimit, XmlNode queryOptions, string webID ) I am passing in "" for the viewName and am passing a rowLimit of 1000. By Default view only returns 100 items. 100 Items are still being returned not 1000. Can you use the rowLimit when not specifying a view? Is it possible to bring back 1000 items using the query instead? I do not really want to use a GUID for the viewName as I would have to look it up for each list and perform a big refactor. Update I am now using the guid of the view and my list still returns the incorrect number of items. I know the guid is being used as I sued an incorrect one and it errord out. Any ideas what could be wrong? • EF 4, POCO and AddOrUpdate

  I'm trying to create a method on an EF 4 POCO repository called AddOrUpdate. The idea is that the business layer can pass in a POCO object and the persistence framework will add the object if it is new (not yet in the database), else will update the database (once SaveChanges() is called) with the new value. This is similar to some other questions I have asked about EF, but I'm only about 80% there in understanding this so please forgive partial duplication. The part I'm missing is how to update the object graph in my ObjectContext/associated ObjectSet for the passed-in business object once I have determined that the business object indeed already exists in the database (and now has been loaded thanks to TryGetObjectByKey). ApplyCurrentValues sounds sort of like what I want, but it only copies scalar values and doesn't seem intended to update the object graph in the ObjectContext/ObjectSet. • Building Dynamic Classes in Objective C

  I'm a somewhat competent ruby programmer. Yesterday I decided to finally try my hand with Apple's Cocoa frameworks. Help me see things the ObjC way? I'm trying to get my head around objc_allocateClassPair and objc_registerClassPair. My goal is to dynamically generate a few classes and then be able to use them as I would any other class. Does this work in Obj C? Having allocated and registered class A, I get a compile error when calling [[A alloc] init]; (it says 'A' Undeclared). I can only instantiate A using runtime's objc_getClass method. Is there any way to tell the compiler about A and pass it messages like I would NSString? A compiler flag or something? I have 10 or so other classes (B, C, …), all with the same superclass. I want to message them directly in code ([A classMethod], [B classMethod], …) without needing objc_getClass. Am I trying to be too dynamic here or just botching my implementation? • C# web cam WM_CAP_CONNECT: Want to force a capture source when multiple capture sources present.

  I am using WebCam_Capture code I found online to access through C# a web cam. On a computer with one video source it works like a charm! (Program starts up at start up, finds the webcam and it works). Though on a computer with many video sources (Say a web cam and then manycam running on top of that), the program starts and queries the user which source to use. I would love my program to start up autonomously at the restart of a machine so this waiting for user input throws a wrench in that, anyway I can force it to just select say the first found source and go with that? So i have some webcam code I yes indeed found online here: http://channel9.msdn.com/forums/TechOff/93476-Programatically-Using-A-Webcam-In-C/?CommentID=94149 and now in preparing this post I did do more research and found out that my issue lies in this line from the above code: SendMessage(mCapHwnd, WM_CAP_CONNECT, 0, 0); That is what connects the webcam up, the only issue is that the above brings up this annoying video source dialog if I have more than one source. I want it to just use the first source so that dialog doesn't come up. I tried passing in different values where the 0's are, sure enough the dialog doesn't come up but it doesn't work either. Anyone know if there is a value I can pass to the SendMessage to suspend the dialog and yet have it select the first video source it finds?

• MVCContrib ActionFilter PassParametersDuringRedirect still passes reference type in querystring

  I am attempting to use the PRG pattern in an asp.net mvc 2 rc application. I found that the MVCContrib project has a custom action filter that will auto persist the parameters in TempData In an action I have the following return this.RedirectToAction(c => c.Requested(accountAnalysis)); however this is adding a querystring param to the request e.g http://mysite.com/account/add?model=MyProject.Models.AccountAnalysisViewModel Can anyone explain how I can use the PassParametersDuringRedirect filter attribute from MVCContrib to not pass the ViewModel type in the querystring. • SSRS 2005 Set SimplePageHeaders on the report instead of the server?

  I have one report that does not export to excel friendly from SSRS 2005. I know I can use <Render> <Extension Name="EXCEL" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.ExcelRenderer.ExcelRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.ExcelRendering"> <Configuration> <DeviceInfo> <SimplePageHeaders>True</SimplePageHeaders> </DeviceInfo> </Configuration> </Extension> </Render> in the rsreportserver.config, but I am not the only person with reports on this machine. I also found that you can pass &rc:SimplePageHeaders=True in the url to export the report programatically. I tried adding the &rc:SimplePageHeaders=True to the end of the url when navigating to the report manager, but when I select excel from the dropdown and click export the headers are still exported. I even tried setting the rc:Command=Render and rc:Format=EXCEL in the url too without any luck. Is there a way to do what I am trying to do? note: I am wanting to render the report on the built in report manager and use the build in export to excel dropdown, not in an app or website.

  I am quite certain we cannot use the LIMIT clause for what I want to do - so wanted to find if there are any other ways we can accomplish this. I have a table which captures which user visited which store. Every time a user visits a store, a row is inserted into this table. Some of the fields are shopping_id (primary key) store_id user_id Now what I want is - for a given set of stores, find the top 5 users who have visited the store max number of times. I can do this 1 store at a time as: select store_id,user_id,count(1) as visits from shopping where store_id = 60 group by user_id,store_id order by visits desc Limit 5 This will give me the 5 users who have visited store_id=60 the max times What I want to do is provide a list of 10 store_ids and for each store fetch the 5 users who have visited that store max times select store_id,user_id,count(1) as visits from shopping where store_id in (60,61,62,63,64,65,66) group by user_id,store_id order by visits desc Limit 5 This will not work as the Limit at the end will return only 5 rows rather than 5 rows for each store. Any ideas on how I can achieve this. I can always write a loop and pass 1 store at a time but wanted to know if there is a better way

Now I want to employ my own model binder for reasons that I won't bother getting into at the moment. What I thought I might do is create an extension method which would do the whole block for me and all i'd need to pass in is the model property and the enumeration. So I could do something like; quickQuote.state = bindingContext.ValueProvider.GetModelValue("state", ...) etc. Is this possible?

• Geting SelectList to MVC view using AJAX/jQuery

  Hi all. I have a C# MVC application which is populating a dropdown based on a date selected. Once the date is selected I am sending it to an action via AJAX/jQuery. The action gets a list of items to return for that date. Here is where my problem is. I have done it previously where I render a partial view from the action and pass it the SelectList as the model. However, I really just want to do it inline in the original view, so I'm hoping there is some way I can return the SelectList and from there do some magic Javascript/JQuery to put it into a dropdown. Has anybody ever done this before? If so, what do I on the client end after calling the load() to return the SelectList? I've done something like this previously, when I was just returning a string or other value to be rendered as straight text: $("#returnTripRow").load("/Trip.aspx/GetTripsForGivenDate?date=" + escape(selection)); But I'm not sure how to intercept the data and morph it into am Html.DropDown() call, or equivalent. • LINQ to Entities exceptions (ElementAtOrDefault and CompareObjectEqual)

  I am working on a shipping platform which will eventually automate shipping through several major carriers. I have a ShipmentsView Usercontrol which displayes a list of Shipments (returned by EntityFramework), and when a user clicks on a shipment item, it spawns a ShipmentEditView and passes the ShipmentID (RecordKey) to that view. I initially wrestled with trying to get the context from the parent (ShipmentsView) and finally gave up resolving to get to it later. I wanted to do this to keep a single instance of the context. anyhow, I now create a new instance of the context in my ShipmentEditViewModel, and query against it for the Shipment record. I know I could just pass the record, but I wanted to use the Ocean Framework that Karl Shifflett wrote and don't want to muck about writing new transition methods. So anyhow, I query and when stepping through, I can see that it returns a record, as soon as execution reached the point where it assigned the query result to the e.Result property, it throws up the following exception depending on the query I used. • How to show an image on jasper report?

  Hi, I want to show an image on a jasper report. I have the following on the .jrxml: <image> <reportElement x="181" y="0" width="209" height="74"/> <imageExpression class="java.lang.String"><![CDATA["logo.jpg"]]></imageExpression> </image> The image logo.jpg is in the same directory as the .jrxml. By just putting that it didn't work for me. I googled a bit and found out that jasper report considers what i put on the .jrxml as a relative path to the JVM directory and that to change this I need to pass as a "REPORT_FILE_RESOLVER" parameter a FileResolver that returns the file. So, I did the following in my .java (is located in same place as the .jrxml and the image) FileResolver fileResolver = new FileResolver() { @Override public File resolveFile(String fileName) { return new File(fileName); } }; HashMap<String, Object> parameters = new HashMap<String, Object>(); parameters.put("REPORT_FILE_RESOLVER", fileResolver); ... Which should return the expected file, but I still get a net.sf.jasperreports.engine.JRException: Error loading byte data : logo.jpg at net.sf.jasperreports.engine.util.JRLoader.loadBytes(JRLoader.java:301) at net.sf.jasperreports.engine.util.JRLoader.loadBytesFromLocation(JRLoader.java:479) at net.sf.jasperreports.engine.JRImageRenderer.getInstance(JRImageRenderer.java:180) ...   I am using XML documentation headers on my c# files to pass the StyleCop rule SA1633. Currently, I have to use the 2 slash commenting rule to allow StyleCop to recognize the header. for example: // <copyright file="abc.ascx.cs" company="MyCompany.com"> // MyCompany.com. All rights reserved. // </copyright> // <author>Me</author> This works fine for StyleCop, however I would like to use the 3 slash commenting rule to enable visual studio to understand the comments as XML and provide the XML functionality (highlighting, auto indenting etc) /// <copyright file="abc.ascx.cs" company="MyCompany.com"> /// MyCompany.com. All rights reserved. /// </copyright> /// <author>Me</author> The problem is that when using 3 slashes, StyleCop no longer see's the header and throws the SA1633 warning. • Ext.data.Store, Javascript Arrays and Ext.grid.ColumnModel

  I am using Ext.data.Store to call a PHP script which returns a JSON response with some metadata about fields that will be used in a query (unique name, table, field, and user-friendly title). I then loop through each of the Ext.data.Record objects, placing the data I need into an array (this_column), push that array onto the end of another array (columns), and eventually pass this to an Ext.grid.ColumnModel object. The problem I am having is - no matter which query I am testing against (I have a number of them, varying in size and complexity), the columns array always works as expected up to columns[15]. At columns[16], all indexes from that point and previous are filled with the value of columns[15]. This behavior continues until the loop reaches the end of the Ext.data.Store object, when the entire arrays consists of the same value. • Developer certificate vs purchased certificate for WCF

  I understsand that if I want to use authentication in WCF then I need to install a certificate on my server which WCF will use to encrypt data passing between my server and client. For development purposes I believe I can use the makecert.exe util. to make a development certificate. What is the worst that can happen if I use this certificate on the production environment? and... Why cant I use this certificate on the production environment? and ... What is the certificate actually going to do in this scenario? [Edit: Added another question] finally... In a scenario where the website has a certificate installed to provide HTTPS support can the same certificate be used for the WCF services as well? Note on my application: Its a NetTCP client and server service. The users will log in using the same username and password which they use for the website which is passed in clear text. I would be happy to pass the u/n + p/w in cleartext to WCF but this isnt allowed by the framework and a certificate must be in place. However, I dont want to buy an certificate due to budget constraints! (Sorry for the possibly stupid question but I really dont understand this so would welcome some help with this).

• Salesforce - Update/Upsert custom object entry

  UPDATE: It's working as expected just needed to pass the correct Id, DUH!~ I have a custom object in salesforce, kind of like the comments section on a case for example. When you add a new comment it has a date/time stamp for that entry, I wanted to update the previous case comment date/time stamp when a new case comment is created. • ajax redirect dillema, how to get redirect URL OR how to set properties for redirect request

  First, I'm working in Google Chrome, if that helps. Here is the behavior: I send an xhr request via jquery to a remote site (this is a chrome Extension, and I've set all of the cross-site settings...): $.ajax({ type: "POST", contentType : "text/xml", url: some_url, data: some_xml, username: user, password: pass, success: function(data,status,xhr){ alert(data); }, error: function(xhr, status, error){ alert(xhr.status); } }); The URL that is being set returns a 302 (this is expected), and Chrome follows the redirect (also expected). The new URL returns a prompt for credentials, which are not being pulled from the original request, so Chrome shows a login dialog. If I put in the original credentials, I get back a response about invalid request sent (it's a valid HTTP request -- 200 -- the remote server just doesn't like one of the headers). When viewing the developer window in Chrome, there are two requests sent. The first is to the original URL with all settings set in the ajax request. The second is to the redirect URL, with a method of "GET", nothing from the "POST" field, and no credentials. I am at a loss as to what I can do. I either need to: Get the redirect URL so I can send a second request (xhr.getResponseHeader("Location") does NOT work), Have the new redirect request preserver the settings from the original request, or Get the final URL that the error came from so I can send another request. Ideally I don't want the user to have to put in their credentials a second time in this dialog box, but I'll take what I can get if I can just get the final URL.

Though I am not getting any errors, it should take users directly to the imageviewer but instead it takes me to login page, if I login it is opening the file correctly. • MVP, WinForms - how to avoid bloated view, presenter and presentation model

  When implementing MVP pattern in winforms I often find bloated view interfaces with too many properties, setters and getters. An easy example with be a view with 3 buttons and 7 textboxes, all having value, enabled and visible properties exposed from the view. Adding validation results for this, and you could easily end up with an interface with 40ish properties. Using the Presentation Model, there'll be a model with the same number of properties aswell. How do you easily sync the view and the presentation model without having bloated presenter logic that pass all the values back and forth? (With that 80ish line presenter code, imagine with the presenter test that mocks the model and view will look like..160ish lines of code just to mock that transfer.) Is there any framework to handle this without resorting to winforms databinding? (you might want to use different views than a winforms view. According to some, this sync should be the presenters job..) Would you use AutoMapper? Maybe im asking the wrong questions, but it seems to me MVP easily gets bloated without some good solution here..

• SQLiteQueryBuilder.buildQuery not using selectArgs?

  Alright, I'm trying to query a sqlite database. I was trying to be good and use the query method of SQLiteDatabase and pass in the values in the selectArgs parameter to ensure everything got properly escaped, but it wouldn't work. I never got any rows returned (no errors, either). I started getting curious about the SQL that this generated so I did some more poking around and found SQLiteQueryBuilder (and apparently Stack Overflow doesn't handle links with parentheses in them well, so I can't link to the anchor for the buildQuery method), which I assume uses the same logic to generate the SQL statement. I did this: SQLiteQueryBuilder builder = new SQLiteQueryBuilder(); builder.setTables(BarcodeDb.Barcodes.TABLE_NAME); String sql = builder.buildQuery(new String[] { BarcodeDb.Barcodes.ID, BarcodeDb.Barcodes.TIMESTAMP, BarcodeDb.Barcodes.TYPE, BarcodeDb.Barcodes.VALUE }, "? = '?' However, here's what the documentation for SQLiteQueryBuilder.buildQuery says about the selectAgs parameter: You may include ?s in selection, which will be replaced by the values from selectionArgs, in order that they appear in the selection. ...but it isn't working. Any ideas?

  Are there any Event Driven Architecture jQuery plugins? Step 1: Subscribing The subscribers subscribe to the event handler in the middle, and pass in a callback method, as well as the name of the event they are listening for... i.e. The two green subscribers will be listening for p0 events. And the blue subscriber will be listening for p1 events. Step 2: The p0 event is fired by another component to the Event Handler A p0 event is fired to the Event Handler The event handler notifies it's subscribers of the event, calling the callback methods they specified when they subscribed in Step 1: Subscribing. Note that the blue subscriber is not notified because it was not listening for p0 events. Step 3: The p1 event is fired a component to the Event Handler The p1 event is fired by another component Just as before except that now the blue subscriber receives the event through its callback and the other two green subscribers do not receive the event. Because it isn't just a basic publisher/subscriber, it has to be called something else I would think.

• Invoking WCF functions using Reflection

  I am pretty new to WCF applications. I have a WCF application that is using NetTcpBinding. I wanted to invoke the functions in WCF service using the System.Reflection's Methodbase Invoke method. I mean I wanted to Dynamically call the Function by passing the String as the Function name. Reflection works great for Web Service or a Windows application or any dll or class. So their is certain way to do this for WCF also but I am not able to find that. I am getting the Assembly Name than it's type everything fine but as we cannot create an instance of the Interface class I tried to open the WCF connection using the binding and tried to pass that object but it's throwing the exception as : "Object does not match target type." I have opened the connection and passed the object and type is of interface only. I don't know whether I'm trying wrong thing or in wrong way. Any idea how shall I accomplish this??? The NetTCPBinding all are properly given while opening the connection. And one more thing I am using WCF as a Windows Service using NETTCPBinding.
