  Hello guys. I'm using ASP.MVC and trying to learn... I have the following controller // get all authors public ActionResult Index() { var autores = autorRepository.FindAllAutores(); return View("Index", autores); } // get authors by type public ActionResult Index(int id) { var autores = autorRepository.FindAllAutoresPorTipo(id); return View("Index", autores); } If i try http://server/Autor/1 I get a 404 error. Why is that? I even tried to create a specific method ListByType(int id) and the correspondent view, but that does not work too (URL: http://server/Autor/ListByType/1) Any ideas? Thanks in advanced EDIT Oh, the http://server/Autor works just fine. The method without parameters is spitting out my view correctly.

  I'm using SproutCore and going through the Todos tutorial on http://wiki.sproutcore.com/Todos+06-Building+with+Rails. SproutCore and Rails use different names for the primary key on a model (Sproutcore = 'guid', Rails = 'id'). The tutorial gives directions to Adjust Rails JSON output, but in my app that I'm planning on building, I cannot do this because sproutcore is only one of a couple interfaces used to interact with the Rails app. As an alternate option, the tutorial gives the following directions: Option 2: Set primaryKey in your Sproutcore model class You can subclass SC.Record and set the primaryKey of your sublcass to "id". Your Todo- Object then needs to extend from e.g. App.Rails.Record. App.Rails.Record = SC.Record.extend({ primaryKey : "id" // Extend your records from App.Rails.Record instead of SC.Record. }); Where should I subclass SC.Record (i.e. in what file) such that it is properly read and included?

  We would like to reserve a set of primary key identifiers for all tables (e.g. 1-1000) so that we can bootstrap the system with pre-loaded system data. All our JPA entity classes have the following definition for the primary key. @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = IDENTITY) @Column(name = "id", unique = true, nullable = false, insertable = false, updatable = false) private Integer id; is there a way to tell the database that increments should start happening from 1000 (i.e. customer specific data will start from 1000 onwards). We support (h2, mysql, postgres) in our environment and I would prefer a solution which can be driven via JPA and reverse engineering DDL tools from Hibernate. Let me know if this is the correct approach

I tried #{link_to 'answer me!', new_answer_path, :question_id => q.id}, but that was just a guess, and I don't know how to access that in AnswersController. I read the Rails API docs, and I know you can add query, too, but I still don't know how to access the value in AnswersController.

• PHP: Alternative to SESSIONS

  Hi, I have a PHP application that relies on session variables quite a lot. After login the user get redirected to a page that executes code to set up a load of session variables depending on who the user is. The application is using data from different sources and the sessions are used to store ID numbers to query the databases. So when the user goes to a page that will query their asset management system their ID for that particular database is called via the session. I've had a LOT of problems with session variables recently. Sometimes only one session file is created during the lifetime of the app, and sometimes each session request results in a new session id (still haven't managed to find out why!). My question is this. Is there an alternative to using session variables for this? Like globals or some other way? Any help most appreciated! Regards, Jonesy

• GridView not DataBinding Automatically after ObjectDataSource Select Method

  I've created a objectadasource that returns a datatable, the gridview is binded to this datasource. the ODS have parameters assigned on the Page_Load event, and the ODS returns the data ok and the gridview shows it fine. the problem is i have a textbox with a filter. first I created a filterexpression in gridview, using the contents of the textbox, worked fine for me. but now I've enabled the paging in gridview. then the filterexpression is not useful now, since the ODS returns only the rows of the pagesize of gridview. I did a new ODS method that select data from parameters page and pagesize according to GridView, and it's OK. now my filter textbox passes his text property to a parameter of the ods select method, then the ods gets the data based on my filter and shows it in the grid. on the Page_Load: ObjectDataSource_Lista.SelectParameters["search"].DefaultValue = filter; ObjectDataSource_Lista.SelectParameters["id"].DefaultValue = ID.ToString(); but when I change the value of the filter, the grid doesn't refresh. on debugging. I see that the ODS Select Method is refreshed ok, but the GridView don't. So I need to call mannually the Databind() method of the grid, to refresh data. the problem is, I have a commandbutton on the grid, and if I manually databind(), the command button stops functioning, generating Page ValidateRequest errors. My question is: how to databind() the grid automatically after the datasource refreshed? ps: on the ODS Selected event, causes a infinite loop and the debug webserver crashes. Temporary solution: Created a Variable private bool wasdatabound; on the event GridView_Databound, set wasdatabound = true; on the Page_PreRenderComplete, if ((GridView1.Visible) && (!databounded)) GridView1.DataBind();

Their relationship is defined as following: a topic can have many items and an item can have many votes. Now I want to retrieve a list of topics with the count of all votes on all items for each topic. I'm trying to find out any other way to do this (like find()).

• [wordpress] Loop through a specific category on single.php

  I've created a custom page and it is set as my homepage, within this custom page I am pulling out the latest post from a specific category, I've also created a form of pagination which when clicked upon will take the user to single.php. My intention for the single.php is to have two custom loops. Custom loop one I want single.php to distinguish that it has came from the homepage and loop through all of the posts tagged with the same category as the one on the homepage. Some of these posts will have to be tagged with more than one category, so the loop will have to know to ignore the other categories and just pay attention to the category in question. Does that make sense? Custom loop two If the user hasn't arrived from the homepage, single.php will just act as it normally does i.e, if the user comes from index.php (the blog) they will be taken to this second loop (blog post) However I don't seem to be able to make the distinction between the two loops, I might be over complicating matters, as I've got a loop which wraps everything together and then I have a loop for my custom pagination.   I have a bit of a special requirement when combining lists. I will try to illustrate with an example. Lets say I'm working with 2 lists of GamePlayer objects. GamePlayer has a property called LastGamePlayed. A unique GamePlayer is identified through the GamePlayer.ID property. Now I'd like to combine listA and listB into one list, and if a given player is present in both lists I'd like to keep the value from listA. I can't just combine the lists and use a comparer because my uniqueness is based on ID, and if my comparer checks ID I will not have control over whether it picks the element of listA or listB. I need something like: for each player in listB { if not listA.Contains(player) { listFinal.Add(player) } } However, is there a more optimal way to do this instead of searching listA for each element in listB?

  I am setting up a mail server: Dovecot and Postfix with MySQL support and Postfixadmin. Spend literally all day trying to figure it out, but I'm still unable to neither send nor receive any emails. To my knowledge, I have configured everything correctly, so either there is another problem, or my knowledge isn't good enough. Name service error for name=dsa.com type=MX: Host not found, try again) *@mail.asd.com is changed for privacy reasons, same goes for [email protected]. *The bold text is where it, for some reason, prints out dsa.com - even though I haven't found it anywhere in the files which I've edited during the installation, nor my DNS is .com in the first place.
