  I'm pretty new in ASP.NET MVC (about 3 months) and i've the followin issue: I have a Entity Class called 'Usuario' in a ClassLibrary referenced as 'Core' and, when i create a strongly-typed view and add a html.textboxfor< like: <%= Html.TextBoxFor(u => u.Login) %> it raises the following error: Error 3 The call is ambiguous between the following methods or properties: 'Microsoft.Web.Mvc.ExpressionInputExtensions.TextBoxFor<Core.Usuario,string>(System.Web.Mvc .HtmlHelper<Core.Usuario>, System.Linq.Expressions.Expression<System.Func<Core.Usuario,string>>)' and 'System.Web.Mvc.Html.InputExtensions.TextBoxFor<Core.Usuario,string>(System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHel per<Core.Usuario>, System.Linq.Expressions.Expression<System.Func<Core.Usuario,string>>)' d:\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\GuiPereiraMVC2\GuiPereiraMVC2\Views\Gestao\Index.aspx 20 25 GuiPereiraMVC2 anyone knows why?

• OpenGL Wrapper in .Net

  This question is similar to the one here. But I feel that the answers recommended ( such as Tao and OpenTK) are not good enough because they are just a direct port from OpenGL, with no OOP design, and hard to use. What I'm looking for is a .Net OpenGL wrapper that is written in clear OOP principles, easy to use ( easy to apply textual and lighting, easy to debug etc), able to rotate the 3D diagram with mouse ( a feature that is critically missing from OpenGL and TAO), and the ability to export to other file formats ( such as dwg or dxf or Google Map file format). Any suggestion? Both Open source or commercial components would do.

  I'm looking for the following features: Scheduler uses SQL Server as the backing store Tasks can be scheduled by one application and executed by another I can have multiple applications, each of which handles a specific subset of tasks Tasks can be triggered at specific times, now, or based on the success or failure of other tasks Data can be attached to tasks There are a number of nice-to-have's, like a web management console, clustering/failover support, customizable logging, but they're not requirements. On the surface Quartz.NET has a nice interface and seems to fit the bill as it satisfies (1), (4 with some custom work) and (5), but I've been beating my head against (2) and (3) seems like I'd have to invest more effort than it's worth, especially given how convoluted the innards of it are. Any other libraries out there? Open source is preferred, with free as a close runner up. It's really hard to get management to pay for things like this when it's not their idea.

  I have a web service which runs with a HttpHandler class. In this class, I inspect the request stream for form / query string parameters. In some circumstances, it seemed as though these parameters weren't getting through. After a bit of digging around, I came across some behaviour I don't quite understand.   I'm struggling to mesh two best practices together: Using DataAnnotations + ModelBinding for validation in ASP.NET MVC 2 Using DTOs instead of domain entities when passing data via the ViewModel If I want to pass over DTOs instead of domain entities, then leveraging DataAnnotations + ModelBinding for validation would require me to specify validation attributes on my DTO classes. This results in a lot of duplicated work since multiple DTOs may hold overlapping fields with the same validation restrictions. This means that any time I change a validation rule in my domain, I have to go find all DTOs that correspond with that value and update their validation attributes.

• Issue with WIC image resizing on ASP.NET MVC 2

  I am attempting to implement image resizing on user uploads in ASP.NET MVC 2 using a version of the method found: here on asp.net. This works great on my dev machine, but as soon as I put it on my production machine, I start getting the error 'Exception from HRESULT: 0x88982F60' which is supposed to mean that there is an issue decoding the image. However, when I use WICExplorer to open the image, it looks ok. I've also tried this with dozens of images of various sources and still get the error (though possible, I doubt all of them are corrupted).   Hi, I have the following scenario Web server A: public on the internet, IIRF (current version) installed Web server B: on the intranet, visible to A, my APS.NET web app is installed on, name is pgdbtest3 I configure IIRF so that any request targetting directory /MMS/ on server A is redirected to the corresponding one http://pgdbtest3/MMS/. The ini file look like: StatusUrl /iirfStatus RemoteOk RedirectRule ^/MMS$ /MMS/ [I] ProxyPass ^/MMS/(.*)$ http://pgdbtest3/MMS/$1 [I] It is working fine except that any post back causes an error (404 is returned). I have tried many solutions including the removal of the action attribute from the form but with no luck. Please help!

  Hi, I've found an issue with ASP.NET that I know at least has stumped one other person out there. We were trying to use an HttpModule to handle wildcard requests to a web application. The generated url is dynamic and could potentially be several hundred characters long. Unfortunately there appears to be a limitation in the aspnet_isapi.dll file that limits the length of the path in the url to MAX_PATH which is hardcoded at 260 chars. Has anyone else ran into this and found a way around this limit? Query string parameters are not an option. Thanks, Greg Ballard

  I have a WinForms .Net HMI software which talks to hardware over USB. I check for communication with the hardware at Load time and if communication is active then run it (The hardware manufacturer has provided a communication library to talk over USB). I want to build an emulator for cases when communication with hardware is not possible (not connected) and want the software to run in simulated mode by providing dummy values for different states of hardware. Has anyone implemented something similar? Any pointers will be helpful. Are there any design patterns to handle such implementations. TIA

• Cannot use Html.ActionLink in asp.net mvc spark files

  I'm using the spark view engine with my asp.net mvc application. In my aspx pages, I can succesfully use Html.Actionlink, but when I attempt it in spark files, it doesnt show up in intellisense, and when i try to run it anyway, i get: Dynamic view compilation failed. c:\Users\midas\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\ChurchMVC\ChurchMVC\Views\Home\Index.spark(73,25): error CS1061: 'System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper' does not contain a definition for 'ActionLink' and no extension method 'ActionLink' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) I do have system.web.mvc referenced, and I have added in _global.spark. None of that helps. Any ideas?

I believe we've got the correct references set in the web project, but are there other things we can check? There's no using statement for views, is there?

• Programmatically retrieve disconnected network adapter information in .NET

  I have an application written in C# that needs to retrieve information like IP address, subnet mask from a disconnected network adapter. I've tried using various methods such as WMI and the .NET NetworkAdapter class but they don't return any useful data when the network adapter is disconnected. I'm pretty sure Windows keeps this information somewhere, since I can apply network settings using netsh and it appears correctly in the Control Panel. One thing that worked for me in XP was to parse the output of the netsh tool and it would return information even for a disconnected adapter. However, this doesn't seem to work on Windows 7.   I just read a page of "Whats new .NET Framework 4.0". I have trouble understanding the last paragraph: To remove open handles on enumerated directories or files Create a custom method (or function in Visual Basic) to contain your enumeration code. Apply the MethodImplAttribute attribute with the NoInlining option to the new method. For example: [MethodImplAttribute(MethodImplOptions.NoInlining)] Private void Enumerate() Include the following method calls, to run after your enumeration code: * The GC.Collect() method (no parameters). * The GC.WaitForPendingFinalizers() method. Why the attribute NoInlining? What harm would inlining do here? Why call the garbage collector manually, why not making the enumerator implement IDisposable in the first place? I suspect they use FindFirstFile()/FindNextFile() API calls for the imlementation, so FindClose() has to be called in any case if the enumeration is done.

Now I want to load a repository type from another assembly (where my concrete SQL Repositories are located) and I just cant get it to work. CLR Inside Out Access to events inside the class where they are declared using += or -= will lead to call add/remove generated accessors that return void. Some code wan't even compile in 4.0. Chris Burrows Blog CAS is deprecated and to enable it one still need to use special setting in configuration - NetFx40_LegacySecurityPolicy So I wonder what are other changes and is it possible to find at least preliminary list of changes that will or may break existing functionality with release of .NET 4.0 ?

  I have a database with a column I wish to index that has comma-delimited names, e.g., User.FullNameList = "Helen Ready, Phil Collins, Brad Paisley" I prefer to tokenize each name atomically (name as a whole searchable entity). What is the best approach for this? Did I miss a simple option to set the tokenize delimiter? Do I have to subclass or write my own class that to roll my own tokenizer? Something else? ;) Or does Lucene.net not support phrases? Or is it smart enough to handle this use case automatically? I'm sure I'm not the first person to have to do this. Googling produced no noticeable solutions.

• How to void authorized transaction in authorize.net gateway using ActiveMerchant

  Goal: Only have successful purchases show up on a customer's billing statement. I don't want declined authorizations showing up on their billing statement (as seen in an online banking system) as pending. A customer often will accidentally input an incorrect billing address, for example, followed by a correct one. Together, the two attempts, one successful and one not both show up on their billing statement as pending prior to settlement. This can scare the customer as it looks potentially like they will be charged twice. Details: When I do an AUTH_CAPTURE (via ActiveMerchant's purchase) or an AUTH (via ActiveMerchant's authorize) which is declined and subsequently want to void that authorization (via ActiveMerchant's void) so as not to have it appear on a customer's billing statement as pending (even though it will settle out after a few days), the gateway can't find the transaction to void using the authorization code returned from the authorization or capture method calls on the gateway. This is specific to the authorize.net AIM gateway. Please advise. Thanks!

  Hello, I'm working on a asp.net mvc2 app. I have been using jquery to do various different things in all of my views. They are work from a regular browser quite well. But I'm trying to figure out a good way to get the functionality working with browsers with javascript disabled (like mobile browsers). Is there a way to define a whole different view for non javascript browsers? A specific example of what I'm trying to do is, I have a with it's onClick calling a javascript that does $.post() to a controller. What's a good way to make it, so, it works the way it works right now (doing ajax calls) with regular javascript-enabled browsers and it a also works with javascript-incapable browsers, doing a full postback ? • How do you exclude folders on get operation for sourcecontrol in CruiseControl.NET

  I have a cruisecontrol.net project which currently doesn't monitor a source safe project. It is forced manually. Within the source control block however I want to be able to exclude the 'get' operation of a certain folder. I know there is a ExclusionFilter feature on a source control block in the config file, but I think that this excludes the sub folder from being monitored not from being retrieved from the repository. Can anyone confirm this is the case, or help me find out how I can achieve this? I'm using CCNet 1.4 and SourceSafe

• ASP.NET Session expires in no time?

  Weired problem! ASP.NET Session expires instantly. In my web.config I have this session settings: <sessionState mode="InProc" timeout="10000" /> AFAIK the timeout attribute's value is in minutes and can't be greater than 525,600 minutes (1 year). I don't understand what I am doing wrong here. Why is the session expiring. Is it a server memory issue? I don't think so, the server is pretty descent and it has only one site which isn't doing much after all. Ideas? EDIT: After setting the cookiless attribute to true, and while noticing the session id on the url, I can see that the session id CHANGING. I assume that this means the session is expiring. • Submitting AjaxForm with jQuery in ASP.NET MVC

  I have an ajax form in asp.net mvc which is as simple as this: <% using (this.Ajax.BeginForm("LatestBlogPosts", "Blog", null, new AjaxOptions { UpdateTargetId = "blogPostPanel" }, new { id = "BlogPostForm" })) { %> <div class="panel" id="blogPostPanel"> <img src="/images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="ajax-loader" /> </div> <% } %> I want to invoke the form submit when document is loaded. This should supposedly, call the controller's action and return a result that should be replaced with the placeholder DIV. If I add a SUBMIT button to the form, it works perfectly, but when I invoke the submit via jQuery, the whole page is refreshed, and the content returned by the server is displayed in the newly displayed page. Here's my jQuery code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#BlogPostForm").submit(); }); </script> Anyway to do this?
