  I don't understand the last line of this function from Programming Perl 3e. Here's how you might write a function that does a kind of set intersection by returning a list of keys occurring in all the hashes passed to it: @common = inter( \%foo, \%bar, \%joe ); sub inter { my %seen; for my $href (@_) { while (my $k = each %$href) { $seen{$k}++; } } return grep { $seen{$_} == @_ } keys %seen; } I understand that %seen is a hash which maps each key to the number of times it was encountered in any of the hashes provided to the function.

  Hello, I execute a select to get the structure of a table. I want to get info about the columns like its name or if it's null or if it's primary key.. I do something like this ....sys.columns c... c.precision, c.scale, c.is_nullable as isnullable, c.default_object_id as columndefault, c.is_computed as iscomputed, but for default value i get the id..something like 454545454 but i want to get the value "xxxx". What is the table to search or what is the function to convert that id to the value. Thanks

  I extended the User model in django to include several other variables, such as location, and employer. Now I'm trying to create a form that has the following fields: First name (from User) Last name (from User) Location (from UserProfile, which extends User via a foreign key) Employer (also from UserProfile) I have created a modelform: from django.forms import ModelForm from django.contrib import auth from alert.userHandling.models import UserProfile class ProfileForm(ModelForm): class Meta: # model = auth.models.User # this gives me the User fields model = UserProfile # this gives me the UserProfile fields So, my question is, how can I create a ModelForm that has access to all of the fields, whether they are from the User model or the UserProfile model? • How can I redirect the output of Perl's system() to a filehandle?

  With the open command in Perl, you can use a filehandle. However I have trouble getting back the exit code with the open command in Perl. With the system command in Perl, I can get back the exit code of the program I'm running. However I want to just redirect the STDOUT to some filehandle (no stderr). My stdout is going to be a line-by-line output of key-value pairs that I want to insert into a mao in perl. That is why I want to redirect only my stdout from my Java program in perl. Is that possible? Note: If I get errors, the errors get printed to stderr. One possibility is to check if anything gets printed to stderr so that I can quite the Perl script.

  I have Created a table like CREATE TABLE [dbo].[tab1]( [Id] [int] NOT NULL, [Name] [varchar](100) NOT NULL, [Meta] [xml] NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_tab1] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [Id] ASC )WITH (PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON) ON [PRIMARY] ) ON [PRIMARY] TEXTIMAGE_ON [PRIMARY] When I am doing linq to sql query to fetch a data it throw an error "data at the root level is invalid linq". In further investigation I come to know that the meta column is null in that case. In real it is nullable Do I have to remove the nullable and set some blank root node as default or there is some another way to get rid of the error. My linq Query which throws error var obj1= (from obj in dbContext.tab1s where obj.id== 123 select obj).FirstOrDefault<Tab1>();

  Provided the following ruby hash: { cat: { 1: 2, 2: 10, 3: 11, 4: 1 }, wings: { 1: 3, 2: 5, 3: 7, 4: 7 }, grimace: { 1: 4, 2: 5, 3: 5, 4: 1 }, stubborn: { 1: 5, 2: 3, 3: 7, 4: 5 } } How can I sort the hash by the sum of 'leaf' excluding "4", for instance the value to compare for "cat" would be (2 + 10 + 11) = 23, the value for "wings" would be (3 + 5 + 7) = 15 so if I was comparing just those two they would be in the correct order, highest sum on top. It is safe to assume that it will ALWAYS be {1: value, 2: value, 3: value, 4: value} as those are keys for constants I have defined. It is also safe to assume that I will only ever want to exclude the key "4", and always use the keys "1", "2", and "3"

• Facebook status.get API throws 500 HTTP status code

  I have an APP that calls Facebook status.get method via the REST server - restserver.php using session key method. This app works fine for most of the users, but for one user I consistently receive HTTP 500 status code. Since this doesn't have any specific Facebook error message, it is almost impossible for me to debug this. Anyone faced a similar problem? What could be wrong with this user account? I checked the privacy options that I could think of and they look fine. Also, for the same user, I can use friends.get method without any problem. EDIT: I tried in Facebook forums as well, but it was of no use. Any pointers in the direction towards debugging/troubleshooting this problem are also appreciated.

• Hiding a value in an Android application

  Hi, I need to hide a value in a mobile (Android OS) application. As far as I can see, encrypting the value is of no use as the key to the encryption mechanism must be available to the program and is thus available to an attacker reverse-engineering the code. So, it seems that the only "solution" is to hide the secret value in the application as well as possible, obviously not ideal. Any comments? Am I missing something?   Hi, Is it possible to allow users of my website to mark places on a map I display using Google Maps API? I need to then save that location coordinates to a db. I've been looking through the google maps API, I found that I can use the web service to do searches like this: http://maps.google.com/maps/geo?q=Maine,+United+States&output=json&oe=utf8\&sensor=false&key=my_key But I am not sure it's working on a house number level (which I need it to) and I'm not sure how to display a 'did you mean?' to the user when he misspells the address.. I delete the following key: SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PagingFiles Upon reboot, the System Control Panel shows "No page file", but c:\pagefile.sys still exists and its in use by the SYSTEM process so I can't delete it and I can't optimize HD. I tried using PendingFileRenamingOperations and that bombs out too. I tried using WMI: Win32_PageFileSetting, but that only lets you set sizes (not zero--defaults to 2MB). Of course, if I do the manual steps outlined above, it works. I think I need an API call to make this happen.

• Is OO design's strength in semantics or encapsulation?

  Object-oriented design (OOD) combines data and its methods. This, as far as I can see, achieves two great things: it provides encapsulation (so I don't care what data there is, only how I get values I want) and semantics (it relates the data together with names, and its methods consistently use the data as originally intended). So where does OOD's strength lie? In constrast, functional programming attributes the richness to the verbs rather than the nouns, and so both encapsulation and semantics are provided by the methods rather than the data structures. I work with a system that is on the functional end of the spectrum, and continually long for the semantics and encapsulation of OO. But I can see that OO's encapsulation can be a barrier to flexible extension of an object. So at the moment, I can see the semantics as a greater strength. Or is encapsulation the key to all worthwhile code?

I'm up to the point where i can rotate any plane of cubes once, but after that...it's messed up because all local coordinate systems are messy. I dont really know where to go from here, can anybody give any advice on what do do? I'm not looking for 'read about transformation matrices', i know i should (and i am doing that), but i'm not really sure what to look for. My idea is that, after each rotation, i should fix each coordinate system of each cube again, but i have no idea how.   Hi, I have a flex datagrid with 3 columns. The first column contains the image name(unique key). The other two columns have username and size details. I want to split the username into lastname, firstname, address and some other stuff. Can we have multiple rows in the grid for one image? Tried multi-line, it works but we need to keep adding spaces and its cumbersome. Since each row in the flex datagrid is represented by one index in the XMLList which is enumerated, is there a way to have more than one row assigned to one image and shown in the grid? something like this..   Hi, I'm saving entities/records with the EF, but i'm curious if there is another way of doing it. I receive a class from a MVC controller method, so basicly i have all the info: the class's properties, including the primary key. Without EF i would do a Sql update (update table set a=b, c=d where id = 5), but with EF i got no further than this: Get an object with ID of 5 Update the (existing) object with the new object Submitchanges. What bothers me is that i have to get the object from the database first, where i have all the info to do an update statement. Is there another way of doing this?

• Colorbox - removing the close button from a specific window

  Hi, I'm using the colorbox plugin to display messages on my web page. One of them is a "wait for response" message, and I don't want the user closing it by himself. I know how to unbind the ESC key, and to disable the overlay close, but I still have a problem with the close button. I found I could remove it in the css like this: #cboxClose{display:none !important;} but this will effect all my colorbox messages.. Is there a way to remove the close button from a specific message?
