• Castle Windsor: Inject NameValueCollection vs. Dictionary

  I've already done many configs where dictionaries are passed into services in the <parameters> block. But what I find myself needing right now is to build a NameValueCollection (allowing multiple entries with the same key) or a Collection of KeyValuePair objects. The reason for this is im not using this dictionary to look up b when given a, im basically using it to pass in a Tuple (pair) of (a,b) to be used later in code. Im kind of new to castle windor and I was wondering how i would go about making a List of KeyValuePair's injected, or a NameValueCollection injected.

• telling java to accept self-signed ssl certificate

  It looks like a standard question, but I couldn't find clear directions anywhere. I have java code trying to connect server with probably self-signed (or expired) certificate. It gives something like this [HttpMethodDirector] I/O exception (javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException) caught when processing request: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target As I understand, I have to play around with keytool and tell java that it's ok to allow this connection. But all comments I've found assume I'm fully proficient with keytool, like "generate private key for server and import it into keystore". And I'm not. Is there anybody who could post detailed instructions? I'm running unix, so bash script would be best. Not sure if it's important, but code executed in jboss. Thanks a lot!

• Trac & Sqlite PK problem

  I create my trac enviromnets using a sqlite database, it works very well. Now i want to get some information directly from the database and i'm using C# to do it using System.Data.SQLite. The problem i have is an error in the designer cause the tables don't have primary keys. After get this error i went and noticed that all tables that have more than one primary key defined in the schema were not 'converted' to sqlite, that information is lost. I believe the problem is in sqlite_backend.py but python isn't my speciality and i'm in a hurry so if you can guide me to a quick fix. thank you.

• Execute an autocommand only once

  I have an issue with using GVim on Windows. I have set up the following in my .vimrc: if has("gui_running") autocmd VIMEnter * :source C:/session.vim endif Unfortunately this creates a problem. If I'm a the top of the file and try to move up a line (k), the screen flashes. If I hold the key for just a second it will flash a few dozen times, it is really nasty too look at. I've tried using GUIEnter instead but I got the same results. The docs mention that I can fire an autocommand only once, but I couldn't figure out the exact syntax. Care to help?

  Different mouse models has been already discussed. But all these mouse got configurable buttons. Has a programmer, how do you set them? I use The Microsoft Intellimouse Optical. So set the Left side button to "Copy" and the Right side button to "Paste". I did not set the Wheel click to anything. I'm curious to see if there is any better setup? UPDATE : I'm trying to find some interesting key I could map to my mouse buttons. Copy & paste are the best I' found so far, but i just want to know if there is something that could be more useful when programming.

• Generate fixed length hash in python for url parameter

  I am working in python on appengine. I am trying to create what is equivalent to the "v" value in the youtube url's (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhMN0wlITLk) for retrieving specific entities. The datastore auto generates a key but it is way too long (34 digits). I have experimented with hashlib to build my own, but again I get a long string. I would like to keep it to under 11 digits (I am not dealing with a huge number of entities) and letters and numbers are acceptable. It seems like there should be a pretty standard solution. I am probably just missing it.

• Alright to truncate database tables when also using Hibernate?

  Is it OK to truncate tables while at the same time using Hibernate to insert data? We parse a big XML file with many relationships into Hibernate POJO's and persist to the DB. We are now planning on purging existing data at certain points in time by truncating the tables. Is this OK? It seems to work fine. We don't use Hibernate's second level cache. One thing I did notice, which is fine, is that when inserting we generate primary keys using Hibernate's @GeneratedValue where Hibernate just uses a key value one greater than the highest value in the table - and even though we are truncating the tables, Hibernate remembers the prior value and uses prior value + 1 as opposed to starting over at 1. This is fine, just unexpected. Note that the reason we do truncate as opposed to calling delete() on the Hibernate POJO's is for speed. We have gazillions of rows of data, and truncate is just so much faster.

  I have a Library ( DLL ) that has a method with the following: var masterKey = Registry. LocalMachine. OpenSubKey("SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Dynamics\\5.0\\"); When running this method in an WinForms applicaiton, masterKey is not null and when running this in asp.net masterKey is null! I've checked the executing user with WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name and the same user is executing both applications. The asp.net application is executed in visual studio ( debug: F5 ) and so is the WinForms application. How come I cannot read the key in asp.net?

• Retrieve binary data from S3 storage through AWS.NET in C#

  I've tested most of the included samples in the AWS SDK for .NET and they all works fine. I can PUT objects, LIST objects and DELETE objects in a bucket, but... lets say I delete the original and want to sync those files missing locally? I would like to make a GET object (by key/name and bucket ofcause). I can find the object, but how do I read the binary data from S3 through the API? Do I have to write my own SOAP wrapper for this or is there some kinda sample for this out "here" ? :o) In hope of a sample. It does not have to tollerate execeptions etc. I just need to see the main parts that connects, retreives and stores the file back on my ASP.net or C# project. Anyone???

• Dashcode: How to create a custom/new Project Template?

  I'm trying to customize the javascript that Dashcode uses. So that I won't step on Apple's Project Templates, I want to make a custom project template that would appear as a choice after you click "New Project." I have been able to modify one of the existing templates (like, Custom, Browser, Utility, RSS, and Podcast). I can not, however, seem to add a new template to the list, like adding "JJ's Awesome New Cross Platform Template" as a choice. I have tried copying the directory Plugins/TemplateWebCustom.wdgtTemplate and changing in Custom's Info.plist file the com.apple.Dashcode.template.web.custom to, say com.apple.Dashcode.template.web.custom2 and in Resouces/project.plist updating the key value pair: TemplateIdentifier ==>com.apple.Dashcode.template.web.custom Is it possible to add a new Project Template?   I need a way to bind UI indicators to rapidly-changing values. I have a class NumberCruncher which does a bunch of heavy processing in a critical non-UI thread, thousands of iterations of a loop per second, and some number of those result in changes to a set of parameters I care about. (think of them as a key-value store) I want to display those at a slower rate in the UI thread; 10-20Hz would be fine. How can I add MVC-style notification so that my NumberCruncher code doesn't need to know about the UI code/binding?

• Random noise in Solr score

  I am looking for a way of introducing random noise into my scoring function, and I'm at a loss on how to best proceed. Some background: We use Solr for a web application that manages large-ish sets of photos for agencies. One customer has an interesting requirement for scoring: 'quality' field, maintained by editors, from 1 (highest) to 3 (lowest); 'date' field, boosting more recent photos; I would probably use a logarithmic function; However, due to how the stock photo market works, this will likely result in many similar photos appearing together. Their request is to give 'quality' a large boost, but introduce some randomness so that photos will not appear in a strict date order. Any idea? EDITED: a key requirement is to have "stable" query results: if I search twice for "tropical island" I can get a slightly different result set, but if I ask for the first page, then the second, then the first, I'd better get the same results :)

  I have a text box on a web page, whose value I want to send to a XMLHttpRequest. Now I want the user to just type the value, without pressing a button. But If i just send the request int he keyboard events, it will fire every time a key is pressed. So basically I want something liek this function KeyUpEvent() { if (user is still typing) return; else do processing } It would be great if the solution could come from plain javascript or mootools. I have only one table in the data store: Participants { ID, FirstName, LastName, IsArtist, IsAuthor, IsTextWriter, } The idea is to have a class for all the roles that a participant can have. I've managed to create the edmx file but when I try to get an Participant (as Artist) that is also an Author I receive the following error: All objects in the EntitySet 'Participants' must have unique primary keys. However, an instance of type 'Artist' and an instance of type 'Author' both have the same primary key value, 'EntitySet=Participants;ID=1'. Thank you

• XCode Syntax Coloring Broken

  XCode frequently seems to lose it's mind, and doesn't color code system classes or provide correct "code sense" suggestions. This is endlessly frustrating. I have rebuilt the code sense indexes and completely restarted XCode with no change. I have built my project to make sure there are no errors and restarted. I have copied my files (sans .svn files) to a different location - same problem. I've already completely disabled the argument "placeholders" because they screw up my documents when i type too fast... all I'm asking for is for the "esc" key to display the correct list of properties and methods.

• How to rewrite the URL

  I have a small application built using Seam 2.2, Richfaces 3.3, JBoss 5.1. Most of the page navigation adds the request parameters to the target URL. I would like to hide parameters to be hidden to the customer who is using the application (e.g. I would expect the URL to be something like "http://localhost:8080/books/Book.seam". The parameters (userId, orderId and cmId) are currently mapped to the backend bean via Book.page.xml. How do I prevent the request parameters from showing up in the browser URL, as it also allows the customer to manipulate the URL. We did look at seam URL re-writing feature, it talked about manipulating say the primary key id in a REST format, not sure how to accomplish something more complex like the above use case in a elegant fashion.

  I understand the need to have referential integrity for limiting specific values on entry or possibly preventing them from removal upon a request of deletion. However, I am unclear as to a valid use case which would exclude this mechanism from always being used. I guess this would fall into several sub-questions: When is referential integrity not appropriate? Is it appropriate to have fields containing multiple and/or possibly incomplete subsets of a foreign key's list? Typically, should this be a schema structure design decision or an interface design decision? (Or possibly neither or both) Thoughts?
