• Java: Can't implement runnable on a test case: void run() collides

  So I have a test case that I want to make into a thread. I cannot extend Thread nor can I implement runnable since TestCase already has a method void run(). The compilation error I am getting is Error(62,17): method run() in class com.util.SeleneseTestCase cannot override method run() in class junit.framework.TestCase with different return type, was class junit.framework.TestResult. What I am trying to do is to scale a Selenium testcase up to perform stress testing. I am not able to use selenium grid/pushtotest.com/amazon cloud at this time (installation issues/install time/resource issues). So this really is more of a Java language issue for me.

• Unable to use JAR in Eclipse

  Hi guys, I have just created my first JAR in Eclipse, just a simple program with a single class Database.class. It is not in a package. public class Database { public Database() { int dbInit = 1; } } I have added it as an external JAR to the build path libraries for another project in Eclipse, but for some reason I cannot get Database db = new Database(), the default constructor, to work - it's as if the contents of the JAR are not being recognised. Could anyone please offer any advice on this? Thanks very much, M

• Splitting values into groups evenly

  Let me try to explain the situation the best I can. Lets say I have 3 values 1, 2, 3 I tell an algorithm to split this values into x columns. Lets say x = 2 for clarification. The algorithm determines that the group of values is best put into two columns the following way. 1st column 2nd column --------------------------- 1 3 2 Each column has an even number (totals, not literals) value. Now lets say I have the following values 7, 8, 3, 1, 4 I tell the algorithm that I want the values split into 3 columns. The algorithm now tells me that the following is the best fit. 1st column 2nd column 3rd column 8 7 3 1 4 Notice how the columns arent quiet even, but it is as close as it can get. A little over and a little under is considered ok, as long as the list is AS CLOSE TO EVEN AS IT CAN BE. Anybody got any suggestions? Know any good methods of doing this?

  Hi, In a Java class , i am having a static list so this list is shared across all the objects of this class.The business logic in this class will run periodically which is invoked by some method with out passing instance parameters.Now I want to invoke this run method based on the list(I will add some vales into this list based on JMS) ,this list may empty sometimes and after finishing the run , i am emptying this list.Now my question is , whether I need to synchronize this list or not? Also let me know is there any other way to pass value in one object instance(Thread1) to other object instance (Thread2) other than having Static variable(static list)? Thx

  So i have a situation where i have common base type but i need to map to a different view based on the child type. It looks like i can use a generic mapping class to handle the inheritance http://geekswithblogs.net/nharrison/archive/2010/07/09/inheriting-a-class-map-in-fluent-nhibernate.aspx But how can i conditionally map to a different view based on the child type? I see an EntityType property but it says its obsolete and will be made private in the next version. As an example i have a base class of ContactInfo is standard between contact types but the values come from different places depending on the contact type, this I'll handle through the sql view.

• C# Making private instance variable accesable (jagged array)

  Hello, In a attempt to put some more oop in a program i am looking to make a private instance variable in one class (object) accesable to a class. private byte [][] J; All those code refers to this jagged array with this. Now in the other class i putted all the for loops along with the consolewritlines to display the wanted results. Basicly it says "the name J does not exist in the current context" But how exactly do i make this J accesable? I have tried with get and set but i keep getting 'cannot convert to byte to byte[][]' Also what kind of cyntax would i need with get and set? Something along like this?   I have over time, changed the size for thumbs of the class Deal. Through these changes, users were uploading to the site, so there are few people who have different sized thumbs. I wanted to reprocress or refresh these, so I went to into my root and typed: $ rake paperclip:refresh class=Deal Did nothing for the thumb sizes.. Then I : irb Deal.find(987).reprocess! Returned this : NoMethodError: undefined method `reprocess!' for #<Deal:0xb68a0988> from /data/HQ_Channel/releases/20100607130346/vendor/rails/activerecord/lib/active_record/attribute_methods.rb:260:in `method_missing' from (irb):7 My deal class is this : => Deal(id: integer, organization_id: integer, deal: string, value: string, what: string, description: string, image_file_name: string, image_content_type: string, image_file_size: integer, image_updated_at: datetime, created_at: datetime, updated_at: datetime, deal_image_file_name: string, deal_image_content_type: string, deal_image_file_size: integer, deal_image_uploaded_at: datetime) What can i do to have it reprocess the original to make the thumb the correct size in the current thumb size params?
