  I am trying to persist complex objects using Ebeans in Play Framework (2.03). In particular, I've created a class that contains a field of type weka.classifier.Classifier (Weka is a popular machine learning library - see http://weka.sourceforge.net/doc/weka/classifiers/Classifier.html). Classifier implements Serializeable so I hoped that I can get away with something like @Entity @Table(name = "classifiers") public class ClassifierData extends Model { @Id public Long id; public Classifier classifier; } However, the Evolutions script suggests the following database structure: create table classifiers ( id bigint auto_increment not null, constraint pk_classifiers primary key (id)) ) In other words, it ignores the field of type Classifier. (The database is MySQL if it makes any difference) What should I do to store complex serializeable objects using Ebean/Evolutions/PlayFramework?

• unsetting application role in classic ASP

  Hi, I'm trying to unset an application role but have been failing miserably. I was able to get the cookie value after setting (sp_setapprole) the application role. But I haven't been able to use that cookie (type varbinary / byte array) in my query to unset using sp_unsetapprole. If it was any other stored procedure it wouldn't have been a problem. I was able to use Command object and create a parameter which takes data type input of adVarBinary (204) and execute the command line.. but to the Server the query goes as below. exec sp_executesql N'sp_unsetapprole @P1 ',N'@P1 varbinary(36)',0x01000000CD11697F8F0ED3627BC1DAD25FB9CEB3A2EC5B289C658235E510CD9F29230000 Since sp_setapprole and sp_unsetapprole have to be run ad hoc, the sql server is failing to run this line. And I'm finding it hard to append varbinary cookie value to a simple query such as 'sp_unsetapprole ' & varKookie so it runs "directly" on to the server. Any kind of suggestions are welcome. • Alter highchart output to display start - end date

  I currently have the following highchart which display a start date and outputs the values for the next 31 days of data. Does anyone know how I may improve on this to include and end date so that I can filter the data by smaller specific amounts? On the x-axis I am also trying to only display labels that have data attached to them and hide any others. Any help is appreciated. • How to adjust microphone gain from C# (needs to work on XP & W7)...

  First, note that I know there are a few questions like this already posted; however they don't seem to address the problem adequately. I have a C# application, with all the pInvoke hooks to talk to the waveXXX API, and I'm able to do capture and play back of audio with that. I'm also able to adjust speaker (WaveOut) volume with that API. The problem is that for whatever reason, that API does not allow me to adjust microphone (WaveIn) volume. So, I managed to find some mixer code that I've also pulled in and access through pInvoke and that allows me to adjust microphone volume, but only on my W7 PC. The mixer code I started with comes from here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/isvvba/thread/05dc2d35-1d45-4837-8e16-562ee919da85 and it works, but is written to adjust speaker volume. This is done because on XP, in the first call to GetVolumeControl (refer to site above for that code), the call to mixerGetLineControlsA() fails with XP systems returning MIXERR_INVALCONTROL. Then, with this second attempt using mixerOpen(out mixer, 0, 0, 0, 0), the code doesn't return a failure but the mic gain is unaffected. Note, as I said above, this works on W7 (the second attempt is never executed because it doesn't fail using mixerOpen(out mixer, mxid, 0, 0, MIXER_OBJECTF_WAVEIN)). I admit to not having a good grasp on the mixer API, so that's what I'm looking into now; however if anyone has a clue why this would work on W7, but not XP, I'd sure like to hear it. Meanwhile, if I figure it out before I get a response, I'll post my own answer...

I have tried a number of patterns and different ways of running them but with no luck. Please look at this website-notice the newsletter signup form at the top right. http://www.rattletree.com I am wanting it to look exactly this way for now, but when the user clicks in the box to enter their email address, the containing div will expand (or simply appear) above the email field to also include a "name" and "city" field. I'm using jquery liberally in the sight, so that is at my disposal. This form is in the header so any id info, etc can't be withing the body tag...   I've just got confused how to implement something in a generic way in C++. It's a bit convoluted, so let me explain step by step. Consider such code: void a(int) { // do something } void b(int) { // something else } void function1() { a(123); a(456); } void function2() { b(123); b(456); } void test() { function1(); function2(); } It's easily noticable that function1 and function2 do the same, with the only different part being the internal function. Therefore, I want to make function generic to avoid code redundancy. I can do it using function pointers or templates. Let me choose the latter for now. My thinking is that it's better since the compiler will surely be able to inline the functions - am I correct? Can compilers still inline the calls if they are made via function pointers? This is a side-question. OK, back to the original point... A solution with templates: void a(int) { // do something } void b(int) { // something else } template<void (*param)(int) > void function() { param(123); param(456); } void test() { function<a>(); function<b>(); } All OK. But I'm running into a problem: Can I still do that if a and b are generics themselves? template<typename T> void a(T t) { // do something } template<typename T> void b(T t) { // something else } template< ...param... > // ??? void function() { param<SomeType>(someobj); param<AnotherType>(someotherobj); } void test() { function<a>(); function<b>(); } I know that a template parameter can be one of: a type, a template type, a value of a type.   So now that we have generic Covariance and Contravariance on interfaces and delegates in C#, I was just curious if given a Type, you can figure out the covariance/contravariance of its generic arguments. I started trying to write my own implementation, which would look through all of the methods on a given type and see if the return types and or arguments match the types in the generic arguments. The problem is that even if I have this: public interface IFoo<T> { void DoSomething(T item); } using my logic, it LOOKS like it should be contravariant, but since we didn't actually specify: public interface IFoo<in T> { void DoSomething(T item); } (the in parameter) it isn't actually contravariant. Which leads to my question: Is there a way to determine the variance of generic parameters?

  In order to create a “destination” auto filter input field on our website, I need a data source that provides a hierarchical data set of Region, Country, County/State, City and Town (plus an area like the Peak District National Park if at all possible) I know sites like Trip Advisor and Facebook seem to have very robust datasets for this. When you type, it brings up a match list with the hierarchy displayed (e.g. if you type Boston you get 6 results as there are multiply places called Boston – the hierarchy allows you to pick the correct option) There are many data sources out there but they either lack hierarchy or do not seem to be easily updatable or complete. I had expected this to be an easy task given the amount of site that have a destination or location autofill field. • Autounattend.xml not being recognized in VirtualBox

  I am working my way through the steps on this page to prepare an unattended installation of Windows 7 Enterprise x64 for purposes of a college assignment which simply requires the process to be carried out and documented. Both the "technician" and "reference" computers are virtual machines created in VirtualBox 4.3.12, as will be the destination computer. I seem to have successfully completed Step 1, building an Autounattend.xml answer file using Windows System Image Manager, in as far as the answer file validates successfully. The problem arises when I try to install Windows on the reference machine from the DVD image in conjunction with the Autounattend file on a USB drive. I have tried a couple of different USB devices, and the devices themselves seem to be recognized, but the answer file does not, as instead of taking the configuration settings from the file the user interface appears as in a manual installation. Has anyone come across this problem or a solution?   I have a method defined in IDL as follows : interface IMyFunc : IDispatch { [id(1), helpstring("method GetNextFunction")] HRESULT GetNextFunction([in,out] long* lPos, [out, retval] BSTR* bstrName); } Using C++ I always implemented this as follows : STDMETHODIMP CMyFunc::GetNextFunction(long *nID, long *lPos, BSTR *bstrName) { if ( function to return ) { // setup return values; return S_OK; } else { // just exit return S_FALSE; } } Now I am implementing this in C# and have used tlbimp on the type library and ended up with : public string GetNextFunction(ref int nID, ref int lPos) I understand that this is because [out, retval] is used as the return type instead of the HRESULT as in C++. Is there a simple way to return the S_OK / S_FALSE values without changing the method definition? The only way I can see is that I have to use ildasm / ilasm to add preservesig so I end up with something like this : public int GetNextFunction(ref int nID, ref int lPos, ref string bstrName) I was wondering if there was some other way without doing the il compilation step.

I've copied this as is from an old version of the website, but I've changed the file structure (through to move to WordPress) so I suspect the variables might not even be reaching eventinfo.php in the first place... index.php is in wp-content/themes/cambridge and eventinfo.php is in wp-content/themes/yasmin/guestvibe but I've tried to avoid structuring issues by referencing the URL in full. Any ideas?

• JDBC CLASSPATH Not Working

  I'm setting up a simple JDBC connection to my working MySQL database on my server. I'm using the Connector-J provided by MySQL. According to their documentation, I'm suppose to create the CLASSPATH variable to point to the directory where the mysql-connector-java-5.0.8-bin.jar is located. I used export set CLASSPATH=/path/mysql-connector-java-5.0.8-bin.jar:$CLASSPATH. When I type echo $CLASSPATH to see if it exists, everything seems fine. But then when I open a new terminal and type echo $CLASSPATH it's no longer there. I think this is the main reason why my Java server won't connect to the JDBC, because it isn't saving the CLASSPATH variable I set. Anyone got suggestions or fixes on how to set up JDBC in the first place?
