• Connecting 2 ubuntu machines as a LAN

  Hi i am trying to connect 2 ubuntu computers as a LAN. In my current setup I have: One machine running ubuntu 11.10 with Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller While the other machine is running Ubuntu 12.04 with an Atheros Communications Inc AR8152 v1.1 Fast Ethernet The two machines are connected via a switch (Edimax ES-3205P). Unfortunately I still cannot connect the two machines together. Can somebody please show me what to do and how to go about solving this issue? Thank you ANSWERED All I had to do was set up both ip's maually, subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 and left blank both gateway and DNS.

• Installed Ruby 1.9.2 but new gems won't create scripts into /usr/bin

  I had previously ruby 1.8 on my Ubuntu 10.10, which I removed through Synaptics. Then I have installed ruby 1.9.1 also via Synaptics (which is then saying that itself is version 1.9.2). Then I installed ruby-debug19 and rspec gems with sudo gem install ruby-debug19 rspec However I can't start rdebug or rspec, but I can invoke the debugger from inside my ruby script, so the debugger is working. I inspected the starting scipts rdebug and rspec and then I realized that they are still old scripts back from ruby1.8 time. In other worlds, the current 1.9 install of these gems haven't created the starting scripts anywhere. What is the easiest solution for a lazy soul like me? It looks like removing-reinstalling ruby 1.9.2 won't help, and installing these gems over and over againg won't create the starting scripts.

• Motion Sensing Fog Machine Increases Savings and Spook Factor

  This DIY add-on switches a standard fog machine from always-on to motion-activated–increase your savings and spook factor at the same time. Courtesy of tinker Greg, this modification involves a new relay and motion sensor mounted onto the existing switch of a store-bought fog machine. When the motion-sensor detects motion the fog machine releases a burst of fog for 5 seconds and then disarms itself for 10 seconds–long enough for the startled victim to move on and for the machine to recharge for the next passerby.   i've to install a number of machines. Some machines have windows 7 installed. Some machines not. The machines have 0 or 2 or 3 partitions. Every machine has enough free diskspace (20 to 250 GB) I installed an "golden client" and build an tar archiv of this client. Now, every client boots up a small linux via pxe, and run a script. This script should create a ext4 and a swap partition using the whole free space. After this, mount the ext4-partition, copy tar, chroot, and so on. The problem still is: I can create partitions using fdisk. But how can i figure out the partion number of the new partition. Do i have to mount /dev/sda3 or /dev/sda1? Someone an idea? Further question: How can i figure out, if the is unallocated space, and how much it is? Thanks

  I am developing a simple cocos2d game in which I want to animate two CCSprites simultaneously, and for this purpose I simply set CCActions on respective `CCSprite's as follows. [first runAction:[CCMoveTo actionWithDuration:1 position:secondPosition]]; [second runAction:[CCMoveTo actionWithDuration:1 position:firstPosition]]; Now I want to wait till the animations are complete, so I can perform the next step. How should I wait for these animations to finish? There are actually two method calls, the first one animates the objects via the code above and second call does the other animation. I need to delay the second method call until the animations in first are complete. (I would not like to use CCCallFunc blocks as I want to call the second method from the same caller as the first one.

  In ASP.NET you can retrieve the last unhandled exception via:(HttpContext.Current.)Server.GetLastError() // Server object is available as a property in Page and UserControl context This obviously only works in the same roundtrip. If you want to retrieve this information in your error page, you got a problem because the error page is not returned in the same roundtrip. The server responds with a redirect response and a new request to the error page is automatically sent. A common workaround would be to store the exception in your Session state from the Application_Error event in Global.asax. From ASP.NET 3.5 you can configure the redirect mode for error pages: <customErrors mode="On" defaultRedirect="~/Error.aspx" redirectMode="ResponseRewrite" /> This way the redirect response is not sent and the error page is returned right away. That implies that the browser is not aware of a page change and cannot reflect it in the address bar, so your original URL is not replaced with the URL of the error page, which might be what you actually want…

• Why my public ip address is different when I visit different website? [closed]

  After I connect to web via pppoe, I visit different website's phpinfo() page, but the result of _SERVER["REMOTE_PORT"] is different. Including some ip address lookup site like www.whatismyip.com, www.apnic.net etc. and gmail's ip location lookup list are all different. Why? Is these different ip address allocated by ISP on different web resources ? Maybe the reason is CDN by my ISP or the website? If the reason is the ip address allocated by ISP on different web resources, the website visitor's ip address may unreal.

When testing a device by using Eclipse, it's easy to install and add device software with these specific brands commonly used in game testing like Samsung, Google, T-Mobile, and HTC; according to the Android Developers website. What if I'm using other brands that runs on Android to test the program via Eclipse (i.e. MyPhone, Starmobile), what should I look for to download in order to enable testing phones that those brands are using other than the brands that are known and commonly used: model number or simply brand? • Flashplayer 11.1 on Ubuntu 12.04

  I am new to Ubuntu and I've visited pretty much every webpage that exists on the internet about how to install canonical Flashplayers. Ubuntu 12.04 comes with Adobe Flashplayer 11.2 but that is not the most recent version and Adobe no longer supports Ubuntu apparently. I have no idea how to install Flashplayer 11.1 via Terminal. I was able to find a site with canonicals (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/flashplugin-nonfree) but I have no clue where to go from there, though I've tried for approx. 4 hours to figure it out on my own. I am hoping someone could take me step by step through the exact code. For example, "download, then install file" is not specific enough since I am completely new to this. Please help!

  I have an Ubuntu 11.10 and I want to connect via remote desktop to a Windows Server 2008 R2. In the properties of remote desktop connection to Windows Server 2008, is set to "safer". Specifically, the selected option is "Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication." In my Ubuntu, I used Remmina to connect to Windows Server 2008. Remmina can not connect to a Windows Server 2008 with the option "Network Level Authentication" (shown in the previous paragraph). The error message I Remmina returns is as follows: "Disable the connection to the server RPD: IPWINDOWSSERVER2008" How or what program I can connect by remote desktop to a Windows Server 2008 you have selected the option "Network Level Authentication"?
