• Best way to move site from subdomain to root through cPanel?

  I have an old Wordpress blog hosted on a subdomain (sub.mysite.com) with hundreds of posts. The root domain is actually empty and redirected to the subdomain. Now I want to move the site from the subdomain to the root domain. I found some .htaccess examples like this: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^sub.example.com$ RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://example.com/$1 [R=301,L] This redirection seems to work if I clone or move the subdomain site into the root domain but, Is there an easier way? I mean, just like when you redirect from www. to non-www. and you only have one site installation. The site would be kept installed on subdomain folder but it would be accessed from root domain, is it possible?

• boot problem with ubuntu and windows 8

  i have a hp dv6 system. on which i was having the windows 8 installed. as i was interested in downloading the ubuntu 12.10 along with windows 8(not inside) .i have made separate partition in ubuntu 12.10 but some how it backfires and now i am not able to boot windows 8 and ubuntu. with windows 8 there is no drive to access the drive partition that has OS. with ubuntu i am getting blank screen. i am thinking that i have problem in system partition but i am not able to solve it. Plz help me. i am in a venerable condition... i have tried booting the window with the help of installation cd but iam not succesful in any of the method - 1-reset PC 2-RECOVERY 3- from command prompt i tried to check disks but it is not showing anything

  I'm running 11.04. I want the system language to be in German. When I go to Language Support and Install/Remove Languages, I check the German box and Apply Changes. However I'm told that the package is already installed and that there isn't any need for an installation. Expanding the Details shows: Package [dbus.String(u'libreoffice-gnome')] is already installed However, German doesn't appear in the Language for menus and windows list. How should I resolve this? The problem is the same when I tried Esperanto and Afrikaans.

• 12.04 precise HDMI not working on ATI Radeon

  This is precisely a 12.04 HDMI output problem, because it works for 11.10 - everything else are the same, only the OS version is different. The symptom is that on my HDMI output TV screen, it always shows Unsupported resolution even after setting it to the resolution that works on Ubuntu 11.10 (via gnome-control-center, in which it detects my TV just fine), I still don't see any output on TV. The audio is not working either. I think it is 12.04's problem, because if I boot into Ubuntu 11.10, and everything else remain the same, HDMI output (video & audio) work just fine. 12.04 is a freshly installed, just the vanilla Ubuntu HD installation. How should I nailed down / fix the problem?

  I am setting up a personal website and I would like to be able to share certain files with friends (e.g. photo albums or documents). Of course, each of the files should only be accessible to certain people, for example with a password or a private address. I would like to have a simple system, easy to maintain. I'm quite sure that Wordpress would let me know do something but keeping a Wordpress installation just for sharing a few files per month seems too much work. I am thinking of using the Apache capabilities for folder or file password protecting. Is this the best idea? Or would it be better just to block the directory navigation so that only people with the full path for each of the files can download them? Thanks!

  My customer, a translations business owner, just told me that he has been reading about Ruby on Rails and told me that "there are more PHP guys around there" and "it seems the community prefers it". What would you, as software engineer and freelancer, say to the customer to achieve these goals: Sell Make him see that the technology is my expert decision and Rails is as good or better than PHP (+ whatever framework) for this particular project. I just want to install ubuntu because it is suppose to get rid of most of the virus problems, so anyway I was following online instructions to install ubuntu alongside windows 7 these are my laptop specifications.   A few days ago I noticed that after I login in, the top panel and the dash took a bit more time to load and I noticed more disc activity than usual. I thought that it might have been caused by some update or by the installation of pdftk. So I removed pdftk but the "problem" persists. Is there a way to know what is using the disc (read/write operations) on startup? If it were at a later time, I would use iotop but I can only launch iotop after I get control of the desktop. I'm on Ubuntu 12.10 amd64.

  Forgive me for asking a career related question - I know that they can be frowned upon here, but I think that this one is general enough to be useful to many people. My question is: How easy/difficult is it to get a job using language/frameowork B, when your current job uses language/framework A? e.g. If you use C#/ASP.NET in your current job, how difficult would it be to get a job using python/django, or PHP/Zend, or whatever (the specifics of the example don't matter). Relatedly, if you work in client side scripting, but perhaps work on server-side projects in your own time, how difficult would it be to switch to server-side professionally? So, to sum up, does the choice of which languages/frameworks use at work tend to box you in professionally?

• android Emulator always stop at "waiting for Home..."

  hi,there, I freshed install Eclipse, jdk, android sdk 1.5 in winxp. but when I run the "hello world" app, the emulator always stop at "andorid" loading message. In eclipse console, it shows "waiting for HOME..." and in DDMS LogCat, it shows following msg: there are some error and warning. So, what's wrong with my case?   Following is the code. create a class lib add the ref to NUnit framework 2.5.3.9345 and Moq.dll 4.0.0.0 and paste the following code.
