  Just today I've started using Drupal for a site I'm designing/developing. For my own site http://jwm-art.net I wrote a user-unfriendly CMS in PHP. My brief experience with Drupal is making me want to convert from the CMS I wrote. A CMS whose sole method (other than comments) of automatically publishing content is by logging in via SSH and using NANO to create a plain text file in a format like so*: head<<END_HEAD title = Audio keywords= open,source,audio,sequencing,sampling,synthesis descr = Music, noise, and audio, created by James W. I don't want to drop all the old content (just some), but how much work would be involved in converting it, factoring into account I've been using Drupal for a day, have not written any PHP for a couple of years, and have zero knowledge of SQL? How might a team of developers tackle this? How do-able is it for one guy in his spare time?

• WWW::Mechanize Perl login only works after relaunch

  Hello, I'm trying to login automatically in a website using Perl WWW::Mechanize. What I do is: $bot = WWW::Mechanize->new(); $bot->cookie_jar( HTTP::Cookies->new( file => "cookies.txt", autosave => 1, ignore_discard => 1, ) ); $response = $bot->get( 'http://blah.foo/login' ); $bot->form_number(1); $bot->field( usern => 'user' ); $bot->field( pass => 'pass' ); $response =$bot->click(); print $response->content(); $response = $bot->get( 'http://blah.foo' ); print $response->content(); The login works, but when I load the page it tells me that I am not connected. You see that I store cookies in a file. Now if I relaunch the script without the login part, it says that I am connected... Does anyone understand this strange behaviour ?

  I've written an RSS feed parser in Java (running on Android) and it parses some feeds perfectly, and others not at all. • RESTful WCF Data Service Authentication

  Hi, I'd like to implement a REST api to an existing ASP.NET MVC website. I've managed to set up WCF Data services so that I can browse my data, but now the question is how to handle authentication. Right now the data service is secured via the site's built in forms authentication, and that's ok when accessing the service from AJAX forms. However, It's not ideal for a RESTful api. What I would like as an alternative to forms authentication is for the users to simply embed the user name and password into the url to the web service or as request parameters. For example, if my web service is usually accessible as http://localhost:1234/api.svc I'd like to be able to access it using the url http://localhost:1234/api.svc/{login}/{password} So, my questions are as follows: Is this a sane approach? If yes, how can I implement this? It seems trivial redirecting GET requests so that the login and password are attached as GET parameters. I also know how to inspect the http context and use those parameters to filter the results. But I am not sure if / how the same approach could be applied to POST, PUT and DELETE requests. • Linear Layout over relative layout

  I have a relative layout for Camera preview with some overlay features. The menu options work fine but if I click on one of the options, the app just froze. It opens a debug perspective but I am not able to understand them. The app does not seem to crash but it just froze. • How do I pass a cookie to a Sinatra app using curl?

  I'm using the code from the example titled "A Slightly Bigger Example" from this tutorial http://rubylearning.com/blog/2009/09/30/cookie-based-sessions-in-sinatra/ to figure out how to send a cookie to a Sinatra application but I can't figure out how to set the values correctly When I set the name to be "brandon" in the application it creates a cookie with a value of BAh7BiIJdXNlciIMYnJhbmRvbg%3D%3D%0A which is a url encoding (http://ostermiller.org/calc/encode.html) of the value BAh7BiIJdXNlciIMYnJhbmRvbg== Using that value I can send a cookie to the app correctly curl -b "rack.session=BAh7BiIJdXNlciIMYnJhbmRvbg==" localhost:9393 I'm pretty sure that value is a base64 encoding of the ruby hash for the session since the docs (http://rack.rubyforge.org/doc/classes/Rack/Session/Cookie.html) say The session is a Ruby Hash stored as base64 encoded marshalled data set to :key (default: rack.session). I thought that meant all I had to do was base64 encode {"user"=>"brandon"} and use it in the curl command. Unfortunately that creates a different value than BAh7BiIJdXNlciIMYnJhbmRvbg==. Next I tried taking the base64 encoded value and decoding it at various base64 decoders online but that results in strange characters (a box symbol and others) so I don't know how to recreate the value to even encode it. So my question is do you know what characters/format I need to get the proper base64 encoding and/or do you know of another way to pass a value using curl such that it will register as a proper cookie for a Sinatra app?

• Is ASP.NET MVC destined to replace Webforms?

If not please close this. I know that no one framework or language is necessarily the only tool for every job. But, do you see MVC eclipsing webforms or webforms going lower on the priority list for Microsoft? They will have to keep webforms for a long time because so many have invested in it, but they don't have to keep adding new functionality for it. I don't know if this is a good example, but it reminds me of web parts. I never saw much improvement in it from Microsoft. It works and I thought it was great until I started to really try and get a lot out of it. Then from what I could see it just wasn't being pursued by Microsoft that much, though it stayed in Visual Studio. Maybe that's a bad example; just what I remembered. EDIT: Also, if anyone has any statements from Microsoft on this subject it is appreciated. No offense to anyone. I was only hoping for something official.

• Flash Security Error Accessing URL with crossdomain.xml

  Hello, I recently deployed a Flash application to a server, and am now experiencing errors when making HTTPService requests. I have put what I believe to be the most permissive crossdomain.xml possible in the wwwroot folder, and still get the errors. Interestingly enough, the error only seems to occur when the request is made from a direct user interaction (i.e. button click). The application makes other requests that are initiated by other means(i.e creationComplete) , and they seem to work as expected. Anyone see anything wrong with the crossdomain.xml, or have any other suggestions? • How to set up RPX widget and facebook app to be able to authenticate with rpx_now?

  Using the sample app for rpx_now gem ( http://github.com/grosser/rpx_now_example) on localhost:3000, I have successfully logged in via Google Accounts, myOpenID, Yahoo, but cannot make it via Facebook. In the RPX app/widget settings I have set my facebook-app key and secret. In my facebook app settings, the Connect URL is myappname.rpxnow.com. But when I try to connect, then I don't even see a facebook login page, just a number of redirects and I am back to my localhost with the following exception http://gist.github.com/386520 . Before I was successfully connecting with oauth2 gem, however, without fetching user data - only authentication. That time I set only key/secret and localhost as my Connect URL. Currently, I don't even ask for email etc., but still the same problem. Can it happen because rpx_now cannot get requested user data from facebook? Or it is a problem of facebook key/secret? May be I need to provide more settings of my facebook app?   I have hard times using maven to generate my client. First I get: javax.xml.bind.UnmarshalException: unexpected element (uri:"http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/", local:"Fault"). This is not an available solution for me, I want to use a high level implementation (the more I get close to Soap message the less dynamic my code can be) usage of JAXBRIContext.ANNOTATION_READER, which is implementation specific and not an available solution for me, in order to annotate annotates java.lang.Exception as @XmlTransient The service with a user defined exception performs well using the JAX-WS generated standard client stubs and using a tool such Soap UI. Problem occurs in deserialization of the message when I have no user defined exception artifact in the JAXB context, and during invocation when I add those non JAXB compatible artifacts in the JAXB context. I'm usign Jboss WS webservice stack within Jboss 4.2.3.GA Any elegant solution to this problem is welcomed !

• Retrieve parent node from selection (range) in Gecko and Webkit

  I am trying to add an attribute when using a wysiwyg editor that uses "createLink" command. I thought it would be trivial to get back the node that is created after the browse executes that command. Turns out, I am only able to grab this newly created node in IE. Any ideas? • Why can't I use WCF DataContract and ISerializable on the same class?

"System.Runtime.Serialization.InvalidDataContractException: Type 'BarProxybcb100e8617f40ceaa832fe4bb94533c' cannot be ISerializable and have DataContractAttribute attribute." If I take out the Serializable attribute, the WCF service works, but when the object can't be serialized to session. If I remove the DataContract attribute from class Bar, the WCF service fails saying Type 'BarProxy3bb05a31167f4ba492909ec941a54533' with data contract name 'BarProxy3bb05a31167f4ba492909ec941a54533:http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/' is not expected. Add any types not known statically to the list of known types - for example, by using the KnownTypeAttribute attribute or by adding them to the list of known types passed to DataContractSerializer I've tried adding a KnownType attribute to the foo class [KnownType(typeof(Bar))] But I still get the same error.   I'm struggling to get my head around how to accommodate a mocked repository's method that only accepts a Linq expression as its argument. • php: fopen() of an URL breaks for domain names, not for numerical addresses

  After hours of trying to debug a third-party application having trouble with fopen(), i finally discovered that php -r 'echo(file_get_contents("http://www.google.com/robots.txt"));' fails, but php -r 'echo(file_get_contents("http://173.194.32.81/robots.txt"));' Succeeds. Note that as the webserver user, I can ping www.google.com and it resolves just fine. I straced both executions of PHP, and they diverge like this: For the numerical v4 URL: socket(PF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, IPPROTO_IP) = 3 fcntl(3, F_GETFL) = 0x2 (flags O_RDWR) fcntl(3, F_SETFL, O_RDWR|O_NONBLOCK) = 0 connect(3, {sa_family=AF_INET, sin_port=htons(80), sin_addr=inet_addr("173.194 poll([{fd=3, events=POLLOUT}], 1, 0) = 0 (Timeout) ...[bunch of poll/select/recvfrom]... close(3) = 0 For the domain name: socket(PF_INET6, SOCK_DGRAM, IPPROTO_IP) = 3 close(3) = 0 PHP didn't even try to do anything with that socket, it seems. Or even resolve the domain, for that matter. WTF ? Recompiling PHP with or without ipv6 support did not seem to matter. Disabling ipv6 on this system is not desirable. Gentoo Linux, PHP 5.3.14, currently giving a try to PHP 5.4 and see if it helps. Anyone has an idea ? EDIT: php -r 'echo gethostbyname("www.google.com");' Works and yield an ipv4, while php -r 'echo(file_get_contents("http://[2a00:1450:4007:803::1011]/"));' Seems to return a blank result. EDIT 2: I didn't even notice the first time, that the v6 socket opened when the name is used is a SOCK_DGRAM.

  Hey there again! Today I ran into a problem when I was making a new theme creator for chrome. As you may know, Chrome uses a "new" file format, called CRX, to manage it's plugins and themes. It is a basic zip file, but a bit modified: "Cr24" + derkey + signature + zipFile And here comes the problem. There are only two CRX creators, written in Ruby or Python. I don't know neither language too much (had some basic experience in Python though, but mostly with PyS60), so I would like to ask you to help me convert this python app to a C# code that doesn't depend on external programs. • Explicit script end tag always converted to self-closing

  I'm using xslt to transform xml to an aspx file. In the xslt, I have a script tag to include a jquery.js file. To get it to work with IE, the script tag must have an explicit closing tag. I need a single form to allow a person to register but I want to normalise the data so that I can add more skills at a later time.   I'd like to have a double click event on a datagrid in Flex3. The following example only works if the Accordion (id = "mustBeSecond") container comes after the DataGrid. Why is the order of the components important and what can I do to prevent this behavior? (The example does not work.
