  • How to use php variables (arrays) in mysql select statements?

    Hi everybody, How do you use a php variable (array) inside a mysql select statement? I am designing an auction site and currently working on a page that lets people view a list of all the current bids for an item. I want to display 3 columns: amountbid - the amount each bidder has bid for the item (held in tblbid) bidderid - the id of each bidder who has bid (found in tbluser) total_positivity_feedback - how many users have left positive feedback for the bidder (calculated from tblfeedback) To find the 'amount' and the 'bidderid' columns i pass the essayid URL parameter from the previous page. This works fine. Despite this, i can't display the total_positivity_feedback column for the various users who have made each bid. My mysql query looks like this: select tblbid.bidderid, tblbid.amount, (select count(tblfeedback.feedbackid) from tblfeedback WHERE tblfeedback.writerid = "ARRAY VARIABLE GOES HERE") AS total_positivity_feedback FROM tblbid WHERE tblbid.essayid = $essayid_bids I assume that the only way to accomplish this is to make the variable contain the bidderid's of those people who bid for that particular essay? I can't seem to work out how to do this tho?!? Many thanks for your help

  • How can I create a profiler GUI in WPF?

    I am looking to create a task profiler in WPF with an UI similar to the one of incredibuild. Eg, timed tasks appear as strips on their respective line. Have a look at: http://baoz.net/wp-content/2009/06/ib1.png to see what I mean. I am unsure what the best way to tackle this problem is? Should I override the Panel class creating a custom layout panel for this or might there be an existing control/library out there that can fit my needs. I have so far had a look at various charting controls but am unsure of weither they can be tweaked to achieve this behaviour or not. I am really hoping for someone who has been using WPF for a while to help me narrow down my search. It is not exactly easy to know what to google for either :)

  • Java: Is it possible to take a GUI Panel and output it into a picture?

    So I have this chart that's a little special. Kind of like an XY plot of points but my boss wanted to look like a bunch of boxes rather than dots connected by lines. And I basically made a chart using gridlayout and a whole bunch of cells that I'll be colouring in black or white depending on the data. Now he sorta wants it to be outputted to a image file. Is there any way to save a Panel into a picture? He wants to display not only the data but also save a visual representation of the data into an image file.

    I have a GUI game, which is driven by user every time it clicks the mouse. Every time user clicks a square on a board, the board state is updated (we re-compute the score, the player to make next move and legal movements it can make) and repainted. Both mouse click, state recomputation and painting are handled in the GUI thread. Now, suppose that I want to train AI to play without GUI. That is, game engine should consume next move by simply calling AI's makeMove function in one thread. This would allow to play millions of games per second automatically. GUI may just screenshot some arbitrary states time after time. How do you switch to this strategy?

  • Edit Text in a Webpage with Internet Explorer 8

    Internet Explorer is often decried as the worst browser for web developers, but IE8 actually offers a very nice set of developer tools.  Here we’ll look at a unique way to use them to edit the text on any webpage. How to edit text in a webpage IE8’s developer tools make it easy to make changes to a webpage and view them directly.  Simply browse to the webpage of your choice, and press the F12 key on your keyboard.  Alternately, you can click the Tools button, and select Developer tools from the list. This opens the developer tools.  To do our editing, we want to select the mouse button on the toolbar “Select Element by Click” tool. Now, click on any spot of the webpage in IE8 that you want to edit.  Here, let’s edit the footer of Google.com.  Notice it places a blue box around any element you hover over to make it easy to choose exactly what you want to edit. In the developer tools window, the element you selected before is now highlighted.  Click the plus button beside that entry if the text you want to edit is not visible.   Now, click the text you wish to change, and enter what you wish in the box.  For fun, we changed the copyright to say “©2010 Microsoft”. Go back to IE to see the changes on the page! You can also change a link on a page this way: Or you can even change the text on a button: Here’s our edited Google.com: This may be fun for playing a trick on someone or simply for a funny screenshot, but it can be very useful, too.  You could test how changes in fontsize would change how a website looks, or see how a button would look with a different label.  It can also be useful when taking screenshots.  For instance, if I want to show a friend how to do something in Gmail but don’t want to reveal my email address, I could edit the text on the top right before I took the screenshot.  Here I changed my Gmail address to [email protected].   • BizTalk 2009 - The Community ODBC Adapter: Schema Generation

    Having previously detailed the installation of the Community ODBC Adapter for BizTalk 2009, the next thing I will be looking at is the generation of schemas using this ODBC adapter. Within your BizTalk 2009 project, right click the project and select Add Generated Items.  In the resultant window choose Add Adapter Metadata and click Add to open the Add Adapter Wizard. Check that the BizTalk Server and Database names are correct, select the ODBC adapter and click next. You must now set the connection string. To start with choose set, then new DSN (data source name). You now need to define the Data Source you will be connecting to.  On the User DSN tab select Add add then driver you want to use. In this case I am going to use the MySQL ODBC Driver.  A User DSN will only be visible on the current machine with you as a user. * Although I initially set up a User DSN and this was fine for creating schemas with, I later realised that you actually need a system DSN as the BizTalk host service needs this to be able connect to the database on a receive or send port. You will then be asked to Set up the MySQL ODBC Data Source.  In my case this is a local database making use of named pipes, so I had to make sure that I ticked the "Force use of named pipes" check box and removed the "# The Pipe the MySQL Server will use socket=mysql" line from the mysql.ini; with this is place the connection would fail as there is no apparent way to specify the pipe name in the ODBC driver configuration. This will then update the User DSN tab with the new Data Source.  Make sure that you select it and press OK. Select it again in the Choose Data Source window and press OK.  On the ODBC transport window select next. You will now be presented with the Schema Information window, where you must supply the namespace, type and root element names for your schema. Next choose the type of statement that you will be using to create your schema - in this case I am using a stored procedure. *I later discovered that this option is fine for MySQL stored procedures without input parameters, but failed for MySQL stored procedures with input parameters.  (I will be posting on the way to handle input parameters soon) Next you will need to specify the name of the stored procedure.  In this case I have a simple stored procedure to return all the data held by my TestTable in MySQL. Select * from TestTable; The table itself has three columns: Name, Sex and Married. Selecting finish should now hopefully create your schemas based on the input and output from your stored procedure. In my case I have:   An empty schema for the request; after all I have no parameters for the stored procedure.  A response schema comprised of a Table Record with Name, Sex and Married children.   • MySQL multiple instances: can you specify a separate general_log/general_log_file option?

    Have two working MySQL instances as well as the default instance. I have general logging enabled on the default; this is working fine. On the second instance, I've added: general_log = 1 general_log_file = /path/to/log/file under [mysqld1]. Restarted the instance (using mysqladmin and confirmed it was not running with mysqld_multi report 1), started it back up again, and the only data in the log file are the connect statements from when mysqld_multi report 1 was executed. Are all the instance #1 queries just being logged to the default instance general log file? The default instance is quite busy and has identical database names, tables, etc. so it's difficult to figure out right now.

  • MySQL takes forever after running certain php scripts... optimization help?

    When I run a couple scripts from the vBulletin software (like uninstalling a plugin) it takes forever. When monitoring the memory usage, it shows this = -/+ buffers/cache: 158 381 Swap: 255 10 245 It seems that MySQL is only using a certain amount and once it does it tries to use the swap instead? I have a 512MB slice and right now my key buffer is at 16M and max_allowed_packet is at 16M. Is there something else I should increase or can I increase those variables and still be safe? Thanks.

  • Running Upstart user jobs on startup

    I am running Ubuntu server 11.04. I have created an Upstart user job as described here. I have the following file at my /home/myuser/.init/sensors.conf: start on started mysql stop on stopping mysql chdir /home/myuser/mydir/project exec /home/myuser/mydir/env/bin/python /home/myuser/mydir/project/manage.py sensors respawn respawn limit 10 90 As myuser I can start, stop, and reload the job fine- it works perfectly: $ start sensors sensors start/running, process 1332 $ stop sensors sensors stop/waiting The problem is that the job is not starting automatically at boot when mysql starts. After a fresh boot, mysql is running but my sensors job is not. What's strange, is that although the job doesn't begin on bootup, if I use sudo to restart mysql it does indeed start my job. The following commands are run as myuser from a fresh startup: $ status sensors sensors stop/waiting $ sudo restart mysql mysql start/running, process 1209 $ status sensors sensors start/running, process 1229 The documentation for Upstart user jobs is pretty limited. What is the correct technique to have a user job start automatically on startup of the system? I know I can just throw something in rc.local to start it, or I could move my sensors.conf to /etc/init but I'm curious if there is a way to do it using just Upstart.

    I've recently started using Windows (having used Ubuntu up until now) and I find myself unable to properly set environment variables. Whenever I set them they don't seem to work. I've been going to Start-Edit Environment Variables for your Account and editing the PATH value in the upper half of the GUI. Here's what I've got so far. ;C:\Chocolatey\bin;C:\tools\mysql\current\bin;C:\Program Files (x86)\Git\bin;C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6\bin\;C:\Python33\Scripts; These are each the parent directories of the executables I'd like to be able to run by name from CMD, but mysql, git, and pip aren't being recognized. Am I doing something wrong syntactically or at a general understanding level? I'd like to be able to run these commands without having to specify the full path to the executables every time.     I been using ssh tunnel to bypass firewall of remote mysql server. On my Ubuntu 12.04 installation, it works via the terminal and it works when using a program called mysql workbench. However, that program freezes often and I want to try phpmyadmin as an alternative. However, I cannot connect to remote server using ssh tunnel on phpmyadmin, albeit I can connect locally. These are the steps I've tried: 1) Open a tunnel, listening on localhost:3307 and forwarding everything to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:3306 (used 3307 because MySQL on my local machine uses the default port 3306): ssh -L 3307:localhost:3306 [email protected] So now I have the port for tunnel open and I have my local mysql installation default port: $ netstat -tln Active Internet connections (only servers) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:3306 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:3307 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN ... 2) Now I can easily connect to remote server via localhost using the terminal: $ mysql -u user.name -p -h 127.0.0.1 -P 3307 Notice that I expicitly identify 3307 as the port, so traffic forwards to the remote server, and hence it logs me in to the remote server. Unfortunately, the localhost/phpmyadmin local login interface doesn't allow you to specify a port option. So I modify the config-db.php file and change the $dbport variable to 3307, under the impression that the phpmyadmin interface will now work with port 3307: $ sudo vim /etc/phpmyadmin/config-db.php $dbport='3307'; Then I restart the mysql server. Unfortunately, it didn't work. When I use the remote credentials to login, it gives me error: #1045 Cannot log in to the MySQL server

  • Upgrading VSTO project to .net 4 - What references do I actually need?

    I'm developing an application for Office. It originally targeted .net 3.5, but I decided to upgrade to .net 4 because of some WPF issues that I've run into. When I switched all the projects in my solution and rebuilt, I got an error saying to include System.Xaml. I did that and rebuilt, and VS2010 told me to include another reference, so I did. This happened a couple more times, and finally it asked me to include Microsoft.Office.Tools.Common.v9.0, and when I did I got this error: Microsoft.Office.Tools.CustomTaskPaneCollection exists in both Microsoft.Office.Tools.Common.v9.0.dll and Microsoft.Office.Tools.Common.dll I have both Microsoft.Office.Tools.Common.v9.0 and Microsoft.Office.Tools.Common referenced in my project, but the problem is that if I remove either, I get an error. Am I doing something wrong? Is it odd that I would need both references? I find it strange that CustomTaskPaneCollection would be defined in two different binaries. If I remove Microsoft.Office.Tools.Common, the error that I get is "Cannot find the interop type that matches the embedded interop type 'Microsoft.Office.Tools.IAddInExtension'. Are you missing an assembly reference?"

    Hi i have a class tools which has static variable std::vector m_tools. Can i insert the values into the static variable from Global scope of other classes defined in other files. In the above example on only one string is getting inserted in to the static list. Problem look like "in Global scope it tries to insert the element before the definition is done" Please let me know is there any way to set the static definiton priority? Or is there any alternative way of doing the same.

  • Try out Windows Phone 7 on your PC today

    Anticipation has been building for the new Windows Phone 7 Series ever since Microsoft unveiled it at the Mobile World Congress in February.  Now, thanks to free developer tools, you can get a first-hand experience of the basic Windows Phone 7 Series devices on your PC. Windows Phone 7 Series represents a huge change in the mobile field for Microsoft, bringing the acclaimed Zune HD UI to an innovative phone platform.  Windows Mobile has often been criticized for being behind other Smartphone platforms, but Microsoft seeks to regain the lead with this new upcoming release.  A platform must have developers behind it to be useful, so they have released a full set of free development tools so anyone can make apps for it today.  Or, if you simply want to play with Windows Phone 7, you can use the included emulator to try out the new Metro UI.  Here’s how to do this today on your Vista or 7 computer. Please note: These tools are a Customer Technology Preview release, so only install them if you’re comfortable using pre-release software. Getting Started First, download the Windows Phone Developer Tools CTP (link below), and run the installer.  This will install the Customer Technology Preview (CTP) versions of Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone, Windows Phone Emulator, Silverlight for Windows Phone, and XNA 4.0 Game Studio on your computer, all of which are required and cannot be installed individually. Accept the license agreement when prompted. Click “Install Now” to install the tools you need.  The only setup customization option is where to save the files, so choose Customize if you need to do so. Setup will now automatically download and install the components you need, and will additionally download either 32 or 64 bit programs depending on your operating system. About halfway thorough the installation, you’ll be prompted to reboot your system.  Once your computer is rebooted, setup will automatically resume without further input.   When setup is finished, click “Run the Product Now” to get started. Running Windows Phone 7 on your PC Now that you’ve got the Windows Phone Developer tools installed, it’s time to get the Windows Phone emulator running.  If you clicked “Run the Product Now” when the setup finished, Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone should have already started.   If not, simply enter “visual studio” in your start menu search and select “Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone”. Now, to run the Windows Phone 7 emulator, we have to test an application.  So, even if you don’t know how to program, we can open a phone application template, and then test it to run the emulator.  First, click New Project on the left hand side of the front page. Any of the application templates would work for this, but here let’s select “Windows Phone Application”, and then click Ok. Here’s your new application template, which already contains the basic phone application framework.  This is where you’d start if you want to develop a Windows Phone app, but for now we just want to see Windows Phone 7 in action. So, to run the emulator, click Debug in the menu and then select Start Debugging. Your new application will launch inside the Windows Phone 7 Series emulator.  The default template doesn’t give us much, but it does show an example application running in Windows Phone 7.   Exploring Windows Phone 7 Click the Windows button on the emulator to go to the home screen.  Notice the Zune HD-like transition animation.  The emulator only includes Internet Explorer, your test application, and a few settings. Click the arrow on the right to see the available applications in a list. Settings lets you change the theme, regional settings, and the date and time in your emulator.  It also has an applications settings pane, but this currently isn’t populated. The Time settings shows a unique Windows Phone UI. You can return to the home screen by pressing the Windows button.  Here’s the Internet Explorer app running, with the virtual keyboard open to enter an address.  Please note that this emulator can also accept input from your keyboard, so you can enter addresses without clicking on the virtual keyboard. And here’s Google running in Internet Explorer on Windows Phone 7. Windows Phone 7 supports accelerometers, and you can simulate this in the emulator.  Click one of the rotate buttons to rotate the screen in that direction. Here’s our favorite website in Internet Explorer on Windows Phone 7 in landscape mode. All this, running right inside your Windows 7 desktop… Developer tools for Windows Phone 7 Although it may be fun to play with the Windows Phone 7 emulator, developers will be more excited to actually be able to create new and exciting apps for it.  The Windows Phone Developer Tools download includes Visual Studio Express and XNA Game Studio 4.0 which lets you create enticing games and apps for Windows Phones.  All development for Windows Phones will be in C#, Silverlight, and the XNA game framework.  Visual Studio Express for Windows Phone includes templates for these, and additionally has code samples to help you get started with development. Conclusion Many features are still not functional in this preview version, such as the search button and most of the included applications.  However, this still gives you a great way to experience firsthand the future of the Windows Phone platform.  And, for developers, this is your chance to set your mark on the Windows Phone 7 Series even before it is released to the public.  Happy playing and developing!   • How can I keep the cpu temp low?

    I have an HP pavilion dv7, I'm using ubuntu 12.04 so the overheating problem with sandybridge cpu is a lot better. However my laptop is still becoming too hot to keep on my legs. The problem is that the fan wait too much before starting, so the medium temp is too hight. When I'm using windows 7 the laptop is room-temperature cold, I've absolutely no problem. On windows the fan is always spinning very low & very silently so the heat is continuously removed, without reaching an unconfortable temp. How can I force the computer to act like that also on ubuntu?
