  • Deserialize array values to .NET properties using DataContractJsonSerializer

    - by James Cadd
    I'm working with the DataContractJsonSerializer in Silverlight 4 and would like to deserialize the following JSON: { "collectionname":"Books", "collectionitems": [ ["12345-67890",201, "Book One"], ["09876-54321",45, "Book Two"] ] } Into classes like the following: class BookCollection { public string collectionname { get; set; } public List<Book> collectionitems { get; set; } } class Book { public string Id { get; set; } public int NumberOfPages { get; set; } public string Title { get; set; } } What's the proper place to extend DataContractJsonSerializer to map the unnamed first array element in "collectionitems" to the Id property of the Book class, the second element to the NumberOfPages property and the final element to Title? I don't have control over the JSON generation in this instance and would like the solution to work with the Silverlight subset of .NET. It would be great if the solution could perform the reverse for serialization as well.

  • RotationAsync with each row in List view

    - by Labeeb P
    Hi, From this answer in stack overflow and the sample project referred there, i got the Idea of RotationAsync, where a progress bar work fine with device rotation. But my problem is, i have a listview with each row there is progress bar. And is there any way to retain the progress while rotation for reach row. Me creating onclicklistener object for the button click listener in getview function of my adapter class. Where its onClick function call the AsyncTask class Since each getview (row) is calling different instant of my AsyncTask, i cannot make it static of single ton class. Any Idea on this. Thanks.

  • Working with the Objective-C/Cocoa flat namespace

    - by Stephen Blinkhorn
    I've not found anything that addresses my specific name space question as yet. I am working on some AudioUnit plug-ins featuring Cocoa based GUIs. The plug-ins use a common library of user interface classes (sliders, buttons etc) which are simply added to each Xcode project. When I recompile and distribute updates it is pretty much guaranteed that at least one user interface class will have been updated since the last release. If the user launches an older plug-in before an updated plug-in then the old Cocoa classes are already loaded into the run time and the plug-in attempts to use the older implementations - often resulting in a failure one way or another. I know frameworks are the intended solution but the overhead and backwards compatibility issues are not ideal. I prefix all class names where possible but what options do I have to ensure that each plug-in contains unique class names for the shared user interface classes?

  • Convert long number as string in the serialization

    - by Bruno
    I have a custom made class that use a long as ID. However, when I call my action using ajax, my ID is truncated and it loses the last 2 numbers because javascript loses precision when dealing with large numbers. My solution would be to give a string to my javascript, but the ID have to stay as a long on the server side. Is there a way to serialize the property as a string? I'm looking for some kind of attribute. Controller public class CustomersController : ApiController { public IEnumerable<CustomerEntity> Get() { yield return new CustomerEntity() { ID = 1306270928525862486, Name = "Test" }; } } Model public class CustomerEntity { public long ID { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } } JSON Result [{"Name":"Test","ID":1306270928525862400}]

  • Connecting data to a GUI - OOP

    - by tau
    I have an application with several graphs and tables on it. I worked fast and just made classes like Graph and Table that each contained a request object (pseudo-code): class Graph { private request; public function setDateRange(dateRange) { request.setDateRange(dateRange); } public function refresh() { request.getData(function() { //refresh the display }); } } Upon a GUI event (say, someone changes the date range dropdown), I'd just call the setters on the Graph instance and then refresh it. Well, when I added other GUI elements like tables and whatnot, they all basically had similar methods (setDateRange and other things common to the request). What are some more elegant OOP ways of doing this? The application is very simple and I don't want to over-architect it, but I also don't want to have a bunch of classes with basically the same methods that are just routing to a request object. I also don't want to set up each GUI class as inheriting from the request class, but I'm open to any ideas really.

  • What is the best way to implement this composite GetHashCode()

    - by Frank Krueger
    I have a simple class: public class TileName { int Zoom, X, Y; public override bool Equals (object obj) { var o = obj as TileName; return (o != null) && (o.Zoom == Zoom) && (o.X == X) && (o.Y == Y); } public override int GetHashCode () { return (Zoom + X + Y).GetHashCode(); } } I was curious if I would get a better distribution of hash codes if I instead did something like: public override int GetHashCode () { return Zoom.GetHashCode() + X.GetHashCode() + Y.GetHashCode(); } This class is going to be used as a Dictionary key, so I do want to make sure there is a decent distribution.

  • Operator Overloading with C# Extension Methods

    - by Blinky
    I'm attempting to use extension methods to add an operater overload to the C# StringBuilder class. Specifically, given StringBuilder sb, I'd like sb += "text" to become equivalent to sb.Append("text"); Here's the syntax for creating an extension method for StringBuilder: public static class sbExtensions { public static StringBuilder blah(this StringBuilder sb) { return sb; } } It successfully adds the "blah" extension method to the StringBuilder. Unfortunately, operator overloading does not seem to work: public static class sbExtensions { public static StringBuilder operator +(this StringBuilder sb, string s) { return sb.Append(s); } } Among other issues, the keyword 'this' is not allowed in this context. Are adding operator overloads via extension methods possible? If so, what's the proper way to go about it?

  • Generating PDF results in single page only?

    - by A T
    Generating a PDF from an email (Zurb Ink templated); but am always presented with a single page PDF. Runnable test-case: from weasyprint import HTML, CSS from urllib2 import urlopen if __name__ == '__main__': html = urlopen('http://zurb.com/ink/downloads/templates/basic.html').read() html = html.replace('<p class=\"lead\">', '{0}<p class=\"lead\">'.format( '<p class=\"lead\">{0}</p>'.format("foobar " * 50) * 50)) HTML(string=html).write_pdf('foo.pdf', stylesheets=[ CSS(string='@page { size: A4; margin: 2cm };' '* { float: none !important; };' '@media print { nav { display: none; } }') ]) How do I get a multi-page PDF?

  • JavaScript Namespace Declaration

    - by Hery
    I created a javascript class as follow: var MyClass = (function() { function myprivate(param) { console.log(param); } return { MyPublic : function(param) { myprivate(param); } }; })(); MyClass.MyPublic("hello"); The code above is working, but my question is, how if I want to introduce namespace to that class. Basically I want to be able to call the class like this: Namespace.MyClass.MyPublic("Hello World"); If I added Namespace.MyClass, it'll throw error "Syntax Error". I did try to add "window.Namespace = {}" and it doesn't work either. Thanks.. :)

  • How do you set up your JScript (NOT JScript.NET) development environment?

    - by jJack
    In my environment, if I create a class in JScript syntax: class test{ } and then save it to a file named "test.js" and run it with wscript, I get a Microsoft JScript "Syntax error" at line 1. However, if I simply, say, write a function: function getInput() { var wshell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell"); wshell.Popup ("Do you want to continue?"); return userInput } getInput() and run it the same way, it works. Hopefully, there is something fundamentally wrong with my class definition. If that is the case, I am excited to find out.

  • get url:xml why external url does not work

    - by Kazim Cubbali
    I am trying to grab information from an external xml with the following code. It only worked when I uploaded same file to my servers. Why cant I grab information from an external url? <script language="javascript"> // This script uses jQuery to retrieve the news XML file and display the contents $(document).ready(function(){ $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "www.simplyprofound.com/samples/xml_jquery/sample.xml", dataType: "xml", success: function(xml) { $(xml).find('item').each(function(){ var title = $(this).find('title').text(); var source = $(this).find('source').text(); var description = $(this).find('description').text(); $('<div class="news_title"></div>').html(title).appendTo('#news_wrap'); $('<div class="news_source"></div>').html(source).appendTo('#news_wrap'); $('<div class="news_description"></div>').html(description).appendTo('#news_wrap'); }); } }); }); </script>

  • Accessing a Clip Inside Another Clip in a Loaded SWF-File

    - by Anders
    I'm writing a card game in AS3. The artist I'm working with has produced (in Flash CS4) a single swf-file containing all the card graphics and animations. The structure of the fla working file looks something like this: - Scene - CardGraphics (Movie Clip) - CardFront - CardBack - CardValueImage (Movie Clip) ... In the program I create 52 instances of my Card class, each having a MovieClip instance created from the loaded swf. The idea is to set the frame of the CardValueImage MovieClip to correspond to the Card instance's suit and rank member variables. However, I can't figure out how I access CardValueImage and call gotoAndStop (or whatever method I will need to call). This is basically what I want to do: // Card Class [Embed(source = 'CardGraphics.swf')] private static var CardsClip:Class; private var clip:MovieClip = new CardsClip; // Card Constructor this.valueImageFrame = suit * 13 + rank; // Calculate which frame contains the // graphical representation of this card this.clip.CardValueImage.gotoAndStop(valueImageFrame);

  • Visual Studio - how to create two projects using the same sources

    - by mack369
    My solution consists of 2 executable projects and a couple dlls. Project1 is a Smart Device Project, Project2 is a Windows Forms Project. Both projects use the same libraries, the reason of that is I want to test my libraries on PC before I deploy it on the device. The problem is that the DLL project type can be Smart Device Class Library or Class Library, not both. I cannot add a reference from SD project to WF and vice versa. I was able to add reference from SD project to a dll file (generated from Class Library project) instead of the project itself, but for some reason I got the message "cannot load XXX type from YYY assembly". It doesn't depend on my code, because when I created separate project for the same sources, everything was fine. The only solution I've found is to create 2 types of projects for each library, but I don't know how to make 2 projects based on the same sources.

  • Code First entity framework connection string

    - by Suneel Dixit
    I have 3 class projects in my solutions. 1. MVC4 project 2. Domain 3. Tests In the MVC4 project I have added a web.config file with the connection string as <add name="EfDbContext" connectionString="Data Source=.;Initial Catalog=SportsStore;Integrated Security=true;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/> I have a class by name EfDbContext in Domain project which inherits DbContext. When I view the website in browser, I get the server not found error. I debugged the EfDbContext class and found that the Database.Connection.ConnectionString is set to \SqlExpress with database as EfDbContext. Why is that?

  • mysql_close(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource

    - by Illes Peter
    Here's what I'm trying to do: I've got a db.php file that does all the db manipulation. It has 2 static methods, connect and deconnect. In my other file i simply use db::connect() and db::deconnect(). The mysql_close($con) in the deconnect method just doesn't know who $con is. Since I don't want to instantiate my class static is the only way to go. Declaring 'private $con' in class db doesn't seem to have an effect. Any ideas? class db { public static function connect() { $dbData = parse_ini_file($_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/config.ini'); $con = mysql_connect($dbData['host'],$dbData['user'],$dbData['pass']); $db = mysql_select_db($dbData['db']); if ((!$con) || (!$db)) return 0; else return 1; } public static function deconnect() { mysql_close($con); } }

  • Mocha expects method

    - by Masha
    So my situation is: I have a 2 modules that have the same structure like that: module Module1 class Config def fee_rate 2 end end end So, say, Module2 would have class Config with the method fee_rate, just with a different value (those are actually implemented in a rails engine, but it shouldn't matter) and then my model can use either Module1 or Module2 to get the fee rate value like that: def config @config ||= "#{module_name.titleize}::Config".constantize.new @config end def get_value config.get_fee * some_other_value end What I'm trying to test is if get_fee function was called on the correct class: "#{model.module_name.titleize}::Config".constantize.any_instance.expects(:get_fee).at_least_once model.get_value and on the line when I call get_value I get the following error - undefined method `*' for nil:NilClass. I'm completely lost now, so I'd appreciate any help and ideas.

  • Is it good practice to put private API in the .m files and public API in .h files in Cocoa?

    - by Paperflyer
    Many of my classes in my current project have several properties and methods that are only ever called from within the class itself. Also, they might mess with the working of the class depending on the current state of the class. Currently, all these interfaces are defined in the main interface declaration in the .h files. Is it considered good practice to put the “private” methods and properties at the top of the .m files? This won't ever affect anything since I am very likely the only person ever to look at this source code, but of course it would be interesting to know for future projects.

  • Why am I getting "too many include files : depth = 1024"?

    - by BeeBand
    I'm using Visual Studio 2008 Express edition, and keep getting the following error: "Cascadedisplay.h(4) : fatal error C1014: too many include files : depth = 1024. Obviously I'm doing something very wrong with include files, but I just can't see what. Basically, I have an interface class, StackDisplay, from which I want to derive CascadeDisplay in another file: #if !defined __BASE_STACK_DISPLAY_H__ #define __BASE_STACK_DISPAY_H__ #include <boost\shared_ptr.hpp> #include "CascadeDisplay.h" namespace Sol { class StackDisplay { public: virtual ~StackDisplay(); static boost::shared_ptr<StackDisplay> make_cascade_display(boost::shared_ptr<int> csptr) { return boost::shared_ptr<StackDisplay>(new CascadeDisplay(csptr)); } }; } #endif and then in CascadeDisplay.h: #if !defined __CASCADE_DISPLAY_H__ #define __CASCADE_DISPAY_H__ #include "StackDisplay.h" #include <boost\shared_ptr.hpp> namespace Sol { class CascadeDisplay: public StackDisplay { public: CascadeDisplay(boost::shared_ptr<int> csptr){}; }; } #endif So what's up with that?

  • When is it appropriate to use C++ exceptions?

    - by krebstar
    I'm trying to design a class that needs to dynamically allocate some memory.. I had planned to allocate the memory it needs during construction, but how do I handle failed memory allocations? Should I throw an exception? I read somewhere that exceptions should only be used for "exceptional" cases, and running out of memory doesn't seem like an exceptional case to me.. Should I allocate memory in a separate initialization routine instead and check for failures and then destroy the class instance gracefully? Or should I use exceptions instead? The class won't have anything useful to do if these memory allocations should fail.. EDIT: The consensus seems to be that running out of memory IS an exceptional case. Will see how to go about this.. Thanks.. :)

  • Question about C# properties

    - by Impz0r
    Hey there, i bumped the other day into a little problem regarding C#'s properties. Let's say i do have this setup: public class Point { public float X; public float Y; } public class Control { protected Point m_Position = new Point(); public Position { get { return m_Position; } set { m_Position = value; } // reorganize internal structure.. reorganize(); } protected reorganize() { // do some stuff } } This is all fine, but when it comes to usage, i could write something like: Control myControl = new Control(); myControl.Position.X = 1.0f; The thing is, my Control class wont recognize that the Position has been changed because set hasn't been called. So i guess my question is, is there a way to make Control aware of any Position changes? Thanks in advance! Mfg Imp

  • Template inheritance: X is not a template

I guess it is just some synthatic issue, however everything I've tried so far led to even more compiler complaints ;) Any idea whats wrong?

  • Session is null when inherit from System.Web.UI.Page

    - by Andreas K.
    I want to extend the System.Web.UI.Page-class with some extra stuff. In the ctor I need the value of a session-variable.
