  • Cached css/javascript files on Sun Java System Web Server

    - by Derp
I'm doing front-end web development in a Solaris 10 / Sun Java System Web Server 7.0U2 environment. I have noticed that changes to static css or javascript files often do not take effect immediately, whereas changes to static html files always do. My best guess is that a default setting in the web server causes it to cache certain file types in order to provide reasonable performance out of the box. I don't have the admin server running--I'll need to edit the config files by hand. What change(s) can I make so that all of my css and javascript edits take effect immediately? Thanks!

  • Best linux distribution for Java build server & ...

    - by ashkanr
Hi all, we are trying to setup a build server for building our Java projects. Following software will be installed: * Subversion * Jira/Confluence/Crucible/Fisheye ... * Bamboo (continuous integration solution) I have 2 questions: 1. Which dist of linux is better suited in your opinion? Our current candidates are: openSUSE, CentOS, Gentoo, Mandriva. 2. Is it possible to build something like an image after finishing setup process and burn it on hard drive for next customers without need to repeat all installation and config process? Thanks in advance,

  • Where to run Java and PHP code continuously

    - by az1112
I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum for a question like this, but you have to start asking questions somewhere to get anywhere :) The question is pretty simple: I need a server where I can run Java and PHP scripts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I need to be able to access this server via SSH, and I need to be able to retrieve the data generated by scripts using SCP. Also, I need to be able to run 10-20 scripts simultaneously. What is the name of the thing I should be looking for? Is it a dedicated server? I'm confused for 2 reasons: 1) because there seem to be all kinds of servers out there; 2) because most companies advertising dedicated servers seem to be aiming them at people who want to host websites. But I don't want to host a website; I just want to run my code.

  • Open source alternative for "Intellitrace"

    - by Elazar Leibovich
Microsoft has recently announced "Intellitrace", a killer feature for VS2010 IMHO. Basically it records all the instructions the program ran, and allows you to easily look through the execution log. Is there a similar feature for open source tools? Specifically such a feature for Java with Eclipse integration would be a nice thing to have.

  • JFileChooser for directories on the Mac: how to make it not suck?

    - by Mike Hearn
The JFileChooser in "directories only" mode on the Mac has two serious, crippling problems: 1) You cannot create directories with it 2) You cannot switch drives This is rather a huge problem for my installer app. As far as I can tell, Apple provides no way around this problem, you can't even activate the non-native directory chooser ... so the only alternative is to find a free/open source pure-Java replacement widget. Does anybody know of one?

  • How should I escape strings in JSON?

    - by Bytecode Ninja
When creating JSON data manually, how should I escape string fields? Should I use something like Apache Commons Lang's StringEscapeUtilities.escapeHtml, StringEscapeUtilities.escapeXml, or should I use java.net.URLEncoder? The problem is that when I use SEU.escapeHtml, it doesn't escape quotes and when I wrap the whole string in a pair of 's, a malformed JSON will be generated.

  • Sorting Android ListView

    - by aeoth
I'm only starting with Android dev, and while the Milestone is a nice device Java is not my natural language and I'm struggling with both the Google docs on Android SDK, Eclipse and Java itself. Anyway... I'm writing a microblog client for Android to go along with my Windows client (MahTweets). At the moment I've got Tweets coming and going without fail, the problem is with the UI. The initial call will order items correctly (as in highest to lowest) 3 2 1 When a refresh is made 3 2 1 6 5 4 After the tweets are processed, I'm calling adapter.notifyDataSetChanged(); Initially I thought that getItem() on the Adapter needed to be sorted (and the code below is what I ended up with), but I'm still not having any luck. public class TweetAdapter extends BaseAdapter { private List<IStatusUpdate> elements; private Context c; public TweetAdapter(Context c, List<IStatusUpdate> Tweets) { this.elements = Tweets; this.c = c; } public int getCount() { return elements.size(); } public Object getItem(int position) { Collections.sort(elements, new IStatusUpdateComparator()); return elements.get(position); } public long getItemId(int id) { return id; } public void Remove(int id) { notifyDataSetChanged(); } public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { RelativeLayout rowLayout; IStatusUpdate t = elements.get(position); rowLayout = t.GetParent().GetUI(t, parent, c); return rowLayout; } class IStatusUpdateComparator implements Comparator { public int compare(Object obj1, Object obj2) { IStatusUpdate update1 = (IStatusUpdate)obj1; IStatusUpdate update2 = (IStatusUpdate)obj2; int result = update1.getID().compareTo(update2.getID()); if (result == -1) return 1; else if (result == 1) return 0; return result; } } } Is there a better way to go about sorting ListViews in Android, while still being able to use the LayoutInflater? (rowLayout = t.GetParent().GetUI(t, parent, c) expands the UI to the specific view which the microblog implementation can provide)

  • Conceptually how does load-balancing on the EJB tier work in Glassfish/any ejb container

    - by Benju
I am wondering conceptually how load-balancing works on the EJB-level (not web session replication) with Java EE containers like Glassfish. From what I have gleaned your remote interface is a proxy that delegates your call to one of many servers you may have in an environment. If things fail are they supposed to be able to "finish" on another server? I want to understand the basic theory behind this load balancing, why is it better than a bunch of servers all running a plain web application with session affinity on a load-balancer?

  • Simple Remote Shared Object with Red5 Flash Server

    - by John Russell
Hello, I am trying to create a simple chat client using the red5 media server, but I seem to be having a slight hiccup. I am creating a shared object on the server side, and it seems to be creating it successfully. However, when I make changes to the object via the client (type a message), the SYNC event fires, but the content within the shared object remains empty. I suspect I am doing something wrong on the java end, any advice? Console Results: Success! • Connection pooling options with JDBC: DBCP vs C3P0

    - by Dema
What is the best connection pooling library available for Java/JDBC? I'm considering the 2 main candidates (free / open-source): Apache DBCB - http://commons.apache.org/dbcp/ C3P0 - http://sourceforge.net/projects/c3p0 I've read a lot about them in blogs and other forums but could not reach a decision. Is there any relevant alternatives to this two?

  • XPath to find element based on another XPath element

    - by martymcfly
Hi, I have an Java AST and I try to find a variable inside it via XPath. Lets say the variable is called 'foobar' I could use //VariableDeclarator/VariableDeclaratorId[@Image='foobar'] but what if I dont know the text 'foobar', but want to read it from another element //VariableDeclarator/VariableDeclaratorId[@Image=//SynchronizedStatement/Expression/PrimaryExpression/PrimaryPrefix/Name] the 'Name' node has the information 'foobar' in @Image, but PrimaryPrefix/Name[@Image] does not work. How must I rewrite the condition //SynchronizedStatement/Expression/PrimaryExpression/PrimaryPrefix/Name that it is the same as @Image='foobar' ? Thanks

  • How can I get an Android TableLayout to fill the screen?

    - by Timmmm
    Hi, I'm battling with Android's retarded layout system. I'm trying to get a table to fill the screen (simple right?) but it's ridiculously hard. I got it to work somehow in XML like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <TableLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_width="fill_parent"> <TableRow android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1"> <Button android:text="A" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1"/> <Button android:text="B" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1"/> </TableRow> <TableRow android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1"> <Button android:text="C" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1"/> <Button android:text="D" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1"/> </TableRow> However I can not get it to work in Java. I've tried a million combinations of the LayoutParams, but nothing ever works. This is the best result I have which only fills the width of the screen, not the height: table = new TableLayout(this); // Java. You suck. TableLayout.LayoutParams lp = new TableLayout.LayoutParams( ViewGroup.LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, ViewGroup.LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT); table.setLayoutParams(lp); // This line has no effect! WHYYYY?! table.setStretchAllColumns(true); for (int r = 0; r < 2; ++r) { TableRow row = new TableRow(this); for (int c = 0; c < 2; ++c) { Button btn = new Button(this); btn.setText("A"); row.addView(btn); } table.addView(row); } Obviously the Android documentation is no help. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Can I force JAXB not to convert " into &quot;, for example, when marshalling to XML?

    - by Elliot
I have an Object that is being marshalled to XML using JAXB. One element contains a String that includes quotes ("). The resulting XML has &quot; where the " existed. Even though this is normally preferred, I need my output to match a legacy system. How do I force JAXB to NOT convert the HTML entities? -- Thank you for the replies. However, I never see the handler escape() called. Can you take a look and see what I'm doing wrong? Thanks! package org.dc.model; import java.io.IOException; import java.io.Writer; import javax.xml.bind.JAXBContext; import javax.xml.bind.JAXBException; import javax.xml.bind.Marshaller; import org.dc.generated.Shiporder; import com.sun.xml.internal.bind.marshaller.CharacterEscapeHandler; public class PleaseWork { public void prettyPlease() throws JAXBException { Shiporder shipOrder = new Shiporder(); shipOrder.setOrderid("Order's ID"); shipOrder.setOrderperson("The woman said, \"How ya doin & stuff?\""); JAXBContext context = JAXBContext.newInstance("org.dc.generated"); Marshaller marshaller = context.createMarshaller(); marshaller.setProperty(Marshaller.JAXB_FORMATTED_OUTPUT, Boolean.TRUE); marshaller.setProperty(CharacterEscapeHandler.class.getName(), new CharacterEscapeHandler() { @Override public void escape(char[] ch, int start, int length, boolean isAttVal, Writer out) throws IOException { out.write("Called escape for characters = " + ch.toString()); } }); marshaller.marshal(shipOrder, System.out); } public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { new PleaseWork().prettyPlease(); } } -- The output is this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <shiporder orderid="Order's ID"> <orderperson>The woman said, &quot; How ya doin &amp; stuff?&quot;</orderperson> </shiporder> and as you can see, the callback is never displayed. (Once I get the callback being called, I'll worry about having it actually do what I want.) --
