I have project in which I need application which communicates with local DB server and simultaneously with central remote DB server to complete some task(read stock quotas from local server create order and then write order to central orders DB,...). So, I don`t know which architecture and technology do this. Web application, .NET WinForms client applications on each computer, or web services based central application with client applications? What are general differences between this approaches? Thanks

  • ffdshow codec can not work with media play 12 in windows 7 ?

    The reason of this issue is caused by media player 12 (in windows 7 professional) using mircsoft default codec which don't support mp4 decode. The ffdshow codec can not replace microsoft default codec in windows 7 (windows7 does not allow that in default). I find some third party tools can switch media player default codec to ffdshow but this is really inconvenience for our customer. Is there any way I can make a program to switch microsoft default codec to ffdshow codec? Like change some entries in windows registry?

  • How do I play back a WAV in ActionScript?

    Please see the class I have created at http://textsnip.com/51013f for parsing a WAVE file in ActionScript 3.0. This class is correctly pulling apart info from the file header & fmt chunks, isolating the data chunk, and creating a new ByteArray to store the data chunk. It takes in an uncompressed WAVE file with a format tag of 1. The WAVE file is embedded into my SWF with the following Flex embed tag: [Embed(source="some_sound.wav", mimeType="application/octet-stream")] public var sound_class:Class; public var wave:WaveFile = new WaveFile(new sound_class()); After the data chunk is separated, the class attempts to make a Sound object that can stream the samples from the data chunk. I'm having issues with the streaming process, probably because I'm not good at math and don't really know what's happening with the bits/bytes, etc. Here are the two documents I'm using as a reference for the WAVE file format: http://www.lightlink.com/tjweber/StripWav/Canon.html https://ccrma.stanford.edu/courses/422/projects/WaveFormat/ Right now, the file IS playing back!   • Email sent from server with rDNS & SPF being blocked by Hotmail

    I have been unable to send email to users on hotmail or other Microsoft email servers for some time. Its been a major headache trying to find out why and how to fix the issue. The emails being sent that are blocked from my domain canadaka.net. I use Google Aps to host my regular email serverice for my @canadaka.net email addresses. I can sent email from my desktop or gmail to a hotmail without any problem. But any email sent from my server on behalf of canadaka.net is blocked, not even arriving in the junk email. The IP that the emails are being sent from is the same IP that my site is hosted on: 66.199.162.177 This IP is new to me since August 2010, I had a different IP for the previous 3-4 years. This IP is not on any credible spam lists http://www.anti-abuse.org/multi-rbl-check-results/?host=66.199.162.177 The one list spamcannibal.org my IP is listed on seems to be out of my control, says "no reverse DNS, MX host should have rDNS - RFC1912 2.1". But since I use Google for my email hosting, I don't have control over setting up RDNS for all the MX records. I do have Reverse DNS setup for my IP though, it resolves to "mail.canadaka.net". I have signed up for SNDS and was approved. My ip says "All of the specified IPs have normal status." Sender Score: 100 https://www.senderscore.org/lookup.php?lookup=66.199.162.177&ipLookup.x=55&ipLookup.y=14 My Mcafee threat level seems fine I have a TXT SPF record setup, I am currently using xname.org as my DNS, and they don't have a field for SPF, but their FAQ says to add the SPF info as a TXT entry. v=spf1 a include:_spf.google.com ~all Some "SPF checking" tools ive used detect that my domain has a valid SPF, but others don't. Like Microsoft's SPF wizard, i think this is because its specifically looking for an SPF record and not in the TXT. "No SPF Record Found. A and MX Records Available". From my home I can run "nslookup -type=TXT canadaka.net" and it returns: Server: google-public-dns-a.google.com Address: 8.8.8.8 Non-authoritative answer: canadaka.net text = "v=spf1 a include:_spf.google.com ~all" One strange thing I found is i'm unable to ping hotmail.com or msn.com or do a "telnet mail.hotmail.com 25". I am able to ping gmail.com and many other domains I tried. I tried changing my DNS servers to Google's Public DNS and did a ipconfig /flushdns but that had no effect. I am however able to connect with telnet to mx1.hotmail.com This is what the email headers look like when I send to a Google email server and I receive the email with no troubles. You can see that SPF is passing. TXT (no records) I do have a TXT record, its been there for years, I did change it a week ago. Other sites that allow you to check your SPF detect it, but some others like Microsofts Wizard doesn't. This iw what my SPF record in my xname.org DNS file looks like: canadaka.net. 86400 IN TXT "v=spf1 a include:_spf.google.com ~all" I did have a nameserver as my 4th option that doens't have the TXT records since it doens't support it. So I removed it from the list and instead added wtfdns.com as my 4th adn 5th nameservers, which does support TXT.

  • what special issues are at play when loading a config file from the comand prompt with DTExec

    If I run a package from the Management Studio, and specify a configuration file, everything works as expected. However if I try and run the package from the command prompt with DTExec I get the error: Cannot load the XML configuration file. The XML configuration file may be malformed or not valid. The command I'm using to execute the package is: dtexec /conf ConfigurationDemo.dtsConfig /f Package.dtsx I am running the dtexec from the folder where these two files reside. Is there an addtional switch or something that must used to get dtexec to behave the same was at the management Stduio in launching a package?

  • How can I get my dynamic site search results content indexed by Google?

    I have a site that is simply a search box to search a cloud-hosted database of .tiff images, and then all of my content can only be accessed by entering a search term. So for example, you're on the home page www.example.com and you type in "search" to the box and hit submit. Then it takes you to www.example.com/?q=search, which is a page of all my .tiff images with "search" in the description. How can I get a page like www.example.com/?q=search indexed, WITHOUT making a humungous list of search terms that people might type in?? I know about mod_rewrite, but it seems like for that you need to know ahead of time which URLs you'll need to convert, which I don't. All of these pages will be dynamically user-generated by typing into the search field. Please help!

  • Blogger still visible after moving to WP; Google Indexing issues after moving from Blogger to WP

    I recently migrated from Blogger to Wordpress and am having two major transition issues that are really hurting. Despite literally hours of searching and experimenting, I cannot resolve the following: ISSUE ONE: I fixed all of my old blogger links to 301 redirect successfully to my WP links (the 2 structures are different and I realized too late), but my old blogger blog is still sometimes visible! (the 2 designs are completely different) I had 31 hits on my blogger site just yesterday. I have updated my privacy settings to hide my blogger blog from search engines and not be visible on blogger. I also removed my custom domain from blogger already as well. HELP! Not sure how to stop this. ISSUE two: Despite submitting a new site map and reindexing my pages for my WP blog, I am not visible in search engines, although I was very visible previously.   • How do I route my SMTP outgoing mail through gmail (Google Mail) ?

    Here is the quick answer:  Go into your client e software (e.g. Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.) for the account you are working on (usually default). Set the SMTP server to smtp.gmail.com Set the username as your gmail account user name (e.g. [email protected]). Gmail will need the username and password you use for that account, so if your default is set to some other email, be sure to set the username and password to that value, or click on the checkbox for username/password.     The 1.0 spec for OpenCL just came out a few days ago (Spec is here) and I've just started to read through it. I want to know if it plays well with other high performance multiprocessing APIs like OpenMP (spec) and I want to know what I should learn. So, here are my basic questions: If I am already using OpenMP, will that break OpenCL or vice-versa? Is OpenCL more powerful than OpenMP? Or are they intended to be complementary? Is there a standard way of connecting an OpenCL program to a standard C99 program (or any other language)? What is it? Does anyone know if anyone is writing an OpenCL book? I'm reading the spec, but I've found books to be more helpful.

  • Brainstorming: Weird JPA problem, possibly classpath or jar versioning problem???

    I'm seeing a weird error message and am looking for some ideas as to what the problem could be. I'm sort of new to using the JPA. I have an application where I'm using Spring's Entity Manager Factory (LocalContainerEntityManagerFactoryBean), EclipseLink as my ORM provider, connected to a MySQL DB and built with Maven. I'm not sure if any of this matters..... When I deploy this application to Glassfish, the application works as expected. The problem is, I've created a set of stand alone unit tests to run outside of Glassfish that aren't working correctly. I get the following error (I've edited the class names a little) com.xyz.abc.services.persistence.entity.MyEntity cannot be cast to com.xyz.abc.services.persistence.entity.MyEntity The object cannot be cast to a class of the same type? How can that be?   • Playing Age of Empires II multiplayer in VirtualBox Over wi fi network

    I installed Age of Empires II (Expansion) in VirtualBox (hosting Windows XP). It works great in single player mode. Unfortunately, I tried playing multiplayer via WI-FI which I created on my Ubuntu machine and can't seem to join games. But when I connected to my WI-FI router other able to connect to my system and we can play multiplayer mode This is what I've done so far to try to resolve the issue: I noticed that the IP address of my virtual machine was 10.0.x.x, While the local IP on Ubuntu is 192.168.x.x, which I figured was a Problem. So I changed from NAT networking to bridged networking in VirtualBox . I turned off the Windows firewall in the virtual machine and don't have any ports blocked by Ubuntu, so no software firewall should be at fault. However I'm still unable to play multiplayer games, and suspect that some kind of networking issue lies at the heart of the problem. I'm not sure what else I would need to change, however. So essentially I was wondering if anyone else here has managed to play AOE2, or any similar game, inside VirtualBox from Ubuntu, and if so what you needed to do to make it possible. Or if anyone has suggestions on where else to look to figure out the problem, I'd appreciate that as well. Unfortunately AOE2 itself doesn't provide any debugging information to troubleshoot the inability to connect to network games.   • How can I improve my error checking and handling?

    Lately I have been struggling to understand what the right amount of checking is and what the proper methods are. I have a few questions regarding this: What is the proper way to check for errors (bad input, bad states, etc)? Is it better to explicitly check for errors, or use functions like asserts which can be optimized out of your final code? I feel like explicitly checking clutters a program with a lot of extra code which shouldn't be executed in most situations anyway-- and not to mention most errors end up with an abort/exit failure. Why clutter a function with explicit checks just to abort? I have looked for asserts versus explicit checking of errors and found little to truly explain when to do either. Most say 'use asserts to check for logic errors and use explicit checks to check for other failures.' This doesn't seem to get us very far though. Would we say this is feasible: Malloc returning null, check explictly API user inserting odd input for functions, use asserts Would this make me any better at error checking? What else can I do? I really want to improve and write better, 'professional' code.

    In Ubuntu 11.10 no bass sound at all when try to play mp3 or 2channels audio. I have 5.1/6 channels speakers. When I test speakers from the sound preference it works perfectly fine and then I try to play any MP3 there is no bass only the speakers work, I play 5.1 movies it plays fine bass sounds good. Also tried to to some changes as instructed with deamon.conf file but no go... When I turn my speakers on play speakers only mode it plays the bass but sound quality is not good compared to normal playing. I have a Creative 5.1 vx ca0160 sound card. In Windows also had the same problem unless I do bass redirection crossover frequency so is there any kinda software package or any kinda changes i can make in system file so that my speaker bass works fine or any thing who can let me change the bass redirection crossover frequency?

  • Are there plans to use the empty space in the SoundMenu?

    There seems to be roughly 4 lines of space next to the album art. However only 3 are used. Song Title Artist Album If nothing is planned for the 4th line. I propose that it is used for track time/length. This way you can tell how far along a song is without the need of a scrub bar. Unrelated, but I feel that the play-lists section should display how many songs are in that play list. Some of my play lists have no songs, and without realising this, it seems like a bug that the songs wont play.

  • How to collect the new "Applications and Services Logs" found on Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 us

    In Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7 there are new Events categorized under "Applications and Services Logs". There is also a subfolder called Microsoft which has tons of subfolders as well. Is there any way to collect these events through WMI? For the regular "Windows Logs" such as Application and Security, it is possible to use the Win32_NTLogEvent WMI class in the cimv2 namespace. However, this class does not provide access to the new Microsoft event logs. Any ideas?

    When you try to install MOSS 2007 on Windows 2008 R2, if you are using an installation media that is older than SP2, you would get the following error, saying that “This program is blocked due to compatibility issues”    All is not lost though, all you need to do is to slip stream the SP2 updates to the MOSS 2007 Setup.
