  • On select show multiple divs?

    Hi I am trying when a user chooses an airline from dropdown seen here that two additional drop downs appear for departing airport and arrival airport. I have coded it to work when one chooses American Airlines from drop down, but I need different departing and arrival airports to appear for the various a user may choose. Anyone know how that can be done? thanks

    Hi, I'm trying to add a JS fly to basket plugin to the site I'm working on, but the plugin needs unique productID numbers, is there a way to iterate this in Smarty when not in a foreach loop? Something like: {$smarty.foreach.foo.iteration} Here's the code I need to itrate: <span id="slidingProd57404045"> <a href="{link controller=order action=addToCart id=$product.ID returnPath=true}" rel="nofollow" class="addToCart" title="Bestill" onclick="addToBasket(57404045); return false;" id="fly_to_basket">&nbsp;</a> </span> The 57404045 needs to be iterated.   • jquery callback functions failing to finish execution

    I'm testing a jquery app i've written and have come across some unexpected behaviour $('button.clickme').live('click',function(){ //do x (takes 2 seconds) //do y (takes 4 seconds) //do z (takes 0.5 seconds) }) The event can be triggered by a number of buttons. What I'm finding is that when I click each button slowly (allowing 10 seconds between clicks) - my callback function executes correctly (actions x, y & z complete). However If I rapidly click buttons on my page it appears that the function sometimes only completes up to step x or y before terminating. My question: Is it the case that if this function is fired by a clicking second DOM element, while the first callback function is completing - will jQuery terminate the first callback and start over again? Do I have to write my callback function explicitly outside the event handler and then call it?? function doStuff() { //do x //do y //do z ( } $('button.clickme).live('click',doStuff()) If this is the case can someone explain why this is happening or give me a link to some advice on best practice on closures etc - I'd like to know the BEST way to write jQuery to improve performance etc. Thanks

  • POST data disapearing on large file upload

    I'm having issues with a file uploading utility in my PHP application. When sending large files (9MB+) over the form, I get a very odd behaviour: the POST data I've included in the form dissapears, including the file information. I've already increased all PHP limits I could (time limit, max input time, post max size, memory limit and upload max filesize) and I still can't get the proper behaviour. I've tried replacing the regular HTTP forms with a Flash-based solution (SWFUpload, www.swfupload.org), still the same behaviour. I've tried multiple files of similar sizes and its definitely not a particular file issue. I've debugged the POST vars sent using Firebug, and the correct variables are still there in the header, together with the file. What could be going on here?

  • Jquery draggable with zoom problem

    I am working on a page in witch all its contents are scaled by using zoom. The problem is that when I drag something in the page the dragging item gets a bad position that seems relative to the zoom amount. To solve this I tried to do some math on the position of the draggable component, but seems that even tho visually its corrected, the "true" position its not recalculated. here is some code to explain better: var zoom = Math.round((parseFloat($("body").css("zoom")) / 100)*10)/10; var x = $(this).data('draggable').position; $(this).data('draggable').position.left = Math.round(x.left/zoom); $(this).data('draggable').position.top = Math.round(x.top/zoom); Any help would be greatly appreciated

  • Submit button on nested form submits the outer form in IE7

    I have the following code on my Home.aspx page: <form id="frmJump" method="post" action="Views/ViewsHome.aspx"> <input name="JumpProject" /><input type="submit" value="Go" /> </form> However, when I click the "Go" button, the page posts back to Home.aspx rather than going to ViewsHome.aspx. I even tried adding some script to force the form to submit: <input name="JumpProject" onkeypress="if(event.keyCode == 13) { this.form.submit(); return false; }" /> But still even if I press ENTER, the Home.aspx page is reloaded. The only thing I can see that might be borking things is this form is actually a child form of the main POSTBACK form that ASP.NET injects into the page. I'm sure there's something stupid I'm missing and this post will get 800 downvotes instantly banishing me back into the n00b realm, but perhaps I haven't gotten enough sleep lately and I'm missing something stupid. This is on IE7 and an ASP.NET 4.0 backend. I also have jQuery libraries loaded on the page incase jQuery can improve this somehow. Thanks!

  • jquery multiple select x rails edit action

    Hi, i'm using the JQUERY multiselectable plugin. Because it's get one select box and transform it in two, where you can move one selected option to another select box. The problem is that i'm facing some problems with the edit action. When i load the form, the selected values (that are saved in my model) are not being populated in the "selected" select box. There is anybody with a good idea about how to "automatically" move the selected values in my database from the "available to be selected" to "selected" options? For now i'm doing something like <%= select "product", :option_ids, options_for_select(Option.all.map { |opt| [opt.description, opt.id]}), {},{:multiple=> true,:class=>'multiselect'} %> Here i can see already the problem. I could just use as options_for_select just all options - the options that are already choosed in my model. The problem is how to update the select box with this information?

    I have an html page, which is a dynamically created asp/aspx page on http://host2.mydomain.com. I have no control over the html page. I cannot modify it in any such way. I cannot modify this page; so, setting document.domain is out of the question, unfortunately. I want to retrieve and display this page on http://host1.mydomain.com/page1.jsp using Ajax. FYI: host1 is being served by IIS 7 and Apache Tomcat (for JSP pages). And host2 is using IIS 7 and ASP. How can I retrieve this page using a Ajax POST request? Thank you.

  • Can you explain this odd behavior with dragging items into nested sortables?

    I have the following setup: A sortable list where one of the <li> has a table with lists in each cell. All of the lists are sortable with each other. Draggable items that can be added to any of the sortables Issue: When adding a draggable item ('drag 1', 'drag 2', 'drag 3') to one of the lists in the horizontal lists (table of lists) it duplicates the draggable when dropped. Sometimes it will create both copies in the same list or one in the item list and one in the column list.   • How do I handle the messages for a simple web-based live chat, on the server side?

    I'm building a simple live chat into a web application running on Django, but one thing I'm confused about is how I should store the messages between users. The chat will support multiple users, and a chat "session" is composed of users connected to one user that is the "host." The application is a sort of online document collaboration thing, so user X has a document, and users Y and Z would connect to user X to talk about the document, and that would be one chat session. If user Y disconnected for five minutes, and then signed back in and reconnected to user X, he should not get any of the messages shared between users X and Z while he was away. if users X, Y, and Z can have a chat session about user X's document, then users X and Y can connect to a simultaneous, but separate discussion about user Z's document. How should I handle this? Should I keep each message in the database? Each message would have an owner user and a target user (the host), and a separate table would be used to connect users with messages (which messages are visible to what users). Or should I store each session as an HTML file on the server, which messages get appended to? The problem is, I can't just send messages directly between clients. They have to be sent to the server in a POST request, and then each client has to periodically check for the messages in a GET request. Except I can't just have each message cleared after a client fetches it, because there could be multiple clients. How should I set this up? Any suggestions?

  • Making "helper" text in a form be a different color then typed text.

The main one is I would like the helper text (in this case "Phone Number") to be a different color then the inputted text from the user, to make it easier for the user to differentiate between filled and unfilled fields. The second is that with this methodology (onfocus="value''") if you mistype something in a field and come back to it you have to retype the whole thing which isn't really acceptable.

    Hi In DOM, is it OK to refer to an element's attributes like this: var universe = document.getElementById('universe'); universe.origin = 'big_bang'; universe.creator = null; universe.style.deterministic = true; ? My deep respect for objects and their privacy, and my sense that things might go terribly wrong if I am not careful, makes me want to do everything more like this: var universe = document.getElementById('universe'); if(universe.hasAttribute('origin')) then universe.origin = 'big_bang'; etc... Is it really necessary to use those accessor methods? Of course it may be more or less necessary depending on how certain I am that the elements I am manipulating will have the attributes I expect them to, but in general do the DOM guys consider it OK to use .notation rather than getters and setters?     With Jquery, is there some way to make val() return an empty string instead of 'undefined' when called against an empty list of elements? E.g., I have this code: var x = $('#my-textbox-id').not('.watermark').val(); The idea is that I want to get the value of my textbox, but I want an empty string if it is currently showing the watermark (i don't want the watermark value!). The selector works, but i don't want 'undefined' - I want an empty string ''.

  • Highlight DIV and dim the rest on mouseover

    I have a page full of DIVs which contain images. When I mouse over an image I can highlight it or add a shadow to accent it easily by adding class etc but is there a way to dim every other image instead. DIVs are loaded into DOM and I would like the DIV currently hovered over to retain 100% or 1 opacity and the rest of the DIVs on the page to fade to say 70% or 0.7 when one DIV is highlighted. Is this possible?

  • Efficient way to copy a collection of Nodes, treat them, and then serialize?

    Hi all, I initially thought a regex to remove YUI3 classNames (or whole class attributes) and id attributes from a serialized DOM string was a sound enough approach - but now I'm not sure, given various warnings about using regex on HTML. I'm toying with the idea of making a copy of the DOM structure in question, performing: var nodeStructure = Y.one('#wrap').all('*'); // A YUI3 NodeList // Remove unwanted classNames.. I'd need to maintain a list of them to remove :/ nodeStructure.removeClass('unwantedClassName'); and then: // I believe this can be done on a NodeList collection... nodeStructure.removeAttribute('id'); I'm not quite sure about what I'd need to do to 'copy' a collection of Nodes anyway, as I don't actually want to do the above to my living markup, as its only being saved - not 'closed' or 'exited', a user could continue to change the markup, and then save again. The above doesn't make a copy, I know. Is this efficient? Is there a better way to 'sanitize' my live markup of framework additions to the DOM (and maybe other things too at a later point), before saving it as a string? If it is a good approach, what's a safe way to go about copying my collection of Nodes for safe cleaning? Thanks! d

The below source came directly from the open layers example site, I just added and activated polygons to the map. Please let me know how I can fix this for using the Bing Map API.. I've been stuck on this for HOURS! :(
