• Deleting JPA entity containing @CollectionOfElements throws ConstraintViolationException

  I'm trying to delete entities which contain lists of Integer, and I'm getting ConstraintViolationExceptions because of the foreign key on the table generated to hold the integers. It appears that the delete isn't cascading to the mapped collection. I've done quite a bit of searching, but all of the examples I've seen on how to accomplish this are in reference to a mapped collection of other entities which can be annotated; here I'm just storing a list of Integer. • Trouble getting NSString from NSDictionary key into UILabel

  I'm attempting to put the value associated with the key called "duration" into a UILabel but I'm getting a blank or "(null)" result showing up in the UILabel. My NSDictionary object with its keys seems to be logging as being full of the data and keys I think I want, as such: the content of thisRecordingsStats is { "12:48:25 AM, April 25" = { FILEPATH = "/Users/brian/Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/3.1.3/Applications/97256A91-FC47-4353-AD01-15CD494060DD/Documents/12:48:25 AM, April 25.aif"; duration = "00:04"; applesCountString = 0; ...and so on. Here's the code where I'm trying to put the NSString into the UILabel: cell.durationLabel.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",[thisRecordingsStats objectForKey:@"duration"]]; I've also tried these other permutations: cell.durationLabel.text = [thisRecordingsStats objectForKey:@"duration"]; and I've also tried this tag-based approach: label = (UILabel *)[cell viewWithTag:8]; label.text = [[thisRecordingsStats objectForKey:@"duration"] objectAtIndex:1]; and: UILabel *label; label = (UILabel *)[cell viewWithTag:8]; label.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",[[thisRecordingsStats objectForKey:@"duration"] objectAtIndex:1]]; I've also tried creating a string from the key's paired value and see a "(null)" value or blankness using that too. What am I missing? I assume it's something with the formatting of the string. Thanks for looking!!

• jQuery UI - addClass removeClass - CSS values are stuck

  Hi, I'm trying to do a simple animation. You show the div. It animates correctly. You hide the div. Correct. You show the div again. It shows but there is no animation. It is stuck at the value of when you first interrupted it. So somehow the interpolation CSS that is happening during [add|remove]Class is getting stuck there. The second time around, the [add|remove]Class is actually running, but the css it's setting from the class is getting ignored (I think being overshadowed). How can I fix this WITHOUT resorting to .animate and hard-coded style values? The whole point was to put the animation end point in a css class. • Flex: How to refresh/repaint a chart?

  I have a chart for which the data is provided asynchronously via a CallResponder (used with a RemoteObject). However, it does not seem possible to update the chart with the data after it has been initially drawn. I have tried: Firing a collection modified event after assigning it to chart.dataProvider calling invalidateDisplayList (tried with all components) binding the chart data provider to a variable, and doing the above. changing the view state on the last line of resultHandler. None of them worked. When I fetch the data and cache it locally, then use it to call init synchronously, the chart displays correctly. What am I missing here?

• how to dynamically replace css?

  I've got an image on the page (class='image') within the div (class='galleria_wrapper') and want to place a caption (class='caption') at the lower right corner under that image. The image could be vertical or horizontal, and making a fixed padding-right value let's say .caption<{float:right;padding-top:5px;padding-right:90px;} is not working for one or another. I need to switch on the fly padding-right value depending on horizontal or vertical image is currently on the page. I can theoretically access image's width through document.getElementByName('image').width although don't understand where to put that code. So, I probably need something like that: document.getElementByClass('caption').padding-right = (document.getElementByName('galleria_wrapper').width - document.getElementByName('image').width)/2 Where do I put this code? I do have that in my css file: .caption{float:right;padding-top:5px;} which places the caption below the image, but to far to the right (div 'galleria_wrapper' is wider than most of the images supposed to be displayed within that area). I have an img tag in the html: <img src=image title='this is caption' /></li> ...and some JavaScript which makes title displayed styled by the "caption" css definition. How do I assign variable value for the padding-right without in-advance knowledge of particular image's width?

• Parallel WCF calls to multiple servers

  I have a WCF service (the same one) running on multiple servers, and I'd like to call all instances in parallel from a single client. I'm using ChannelFactory and the interface (contract) to call the service. Each service has a local <endpoint> client defined in the .config file. What I'm trying to do is build some kind of generic framework to avoid code duplication. For example a synchronous call in a single thread looks something like this: Dim remoteName As String = "endpointName1" Dim svcProxy As ChannelFactory(Of IMyService) = New ChannelFactory(Of IMyService)(remoteName) Try svcProxy.Open() Dim svc As IMyService = svcProxy.CreateChannel() nodeResult = svc.TestRemote("foo") Finally svcProxy.Close() End Try The part I'm having difficulty with is how to specify and actually invoke the actual remote method (eg "TestRemote") without having to duplicate the above code, and all the thread-related stuff that invokes that, for each method. In the end, I'd like to be able to write code along the lines of (consider this psuedo code): Dim results as Dictionary(Of Node, ExpectedReturnType) results = ParallelInvoke(IMyService.SomeMethod, parameter1, parameter2) where ParallelInvoke() will take the method as an argument, as well as the parameters (paramArray or object() .. whatever) and then go run the request on each remote node, block until they all return an answer or timeout, and then return the results into a Dictionary with the key as the node, and the value as whatever value it returned. I can then (depending on the method) pick out the single value I need, or aggregate all the values from each server together, etc. I'm pretty sure I can do this using reflection and InvokeMember(), but that requires passing the method as a string (which can lead to errors like calling a non-existing method that can't be caught at compile time), so I'd like to see if there is a cleaner way to do this. • How to control Dojo FilteringSelect default rendering!?

  Hi, I have a dojo dijit.filering.select that populates with values from a dojo.data.ItemFileReadStore. Everything is working fine except I would like the filtering select to automatically get populated with the first value in the itemFileReadStore. Currently it is loading them as a list of options that are revealed when you click the down arrow, as per spec. I would instead like filteringSelect to be loaded with the first value. How do I do this? For some reason I cant figure it out. Any help would be hugely appreciated!   I am building my portfolio website simply using HTML, Flash, and the Mootools Javascript framework. I have decided to implement a theme changing feature using Javascript and cookies. When the user clicks on the "Change Theme" link, a mediaboxAdvanced lightbox appears, containing a real-time form which allows you to change the theme on the portfolio. • Why are floating point values so prolific?

  So, title says it all. Why are floating point values so prolific in computer programming. Due to problems like rounding errors, and not being able to even accurately represent numbers such as 0.1, I really can't see how they got as far as they did. I understand that the computation is faster with floating point numbers, however, I can think of only a few cases that they actually the right data type would be using. If you sat back and think about every time you used a floating point value, how many times did you say, well, some error would be ok, as long as the result was a few microseconds faster. It really makes me think because Jeff was talking about NP completeness, and how heuristics give an answer that is kind of right. And well, computers shouldn't do that. They should give you the answer that is correct. Yet we see floating point values used in many applications where they are completely not valid. What really bugs me, isn't that floating point exists, but that in many languages, there isn't even a viable alternative, non-floating point, decimal value. A lot of programmers when doing financial applications have to fall back to storing the number of cents in an integer field. Which brings with it all kinds of other problems. Why do floats continue to be so prolific, even though they can't represent the real answer, and we expect computers to be accurate? [EDIT] Just to clarify, I was talking about Base 2 floating points, and not base 10 floating points. .Net offers the Decimal data type, which is a base 10 floating point value which offers a much better representation of the numbers we deal with on a daily basis in most computer programs. I find it hard to believe that even modern languages like Java don't support base 10 floating point values, unless you want to move into the realm of things like BigDecimal, which isn't really the right answer either in a lot of situations.

• displaying images in a list box so the image resizes based on parent container

  I have an expander with a list box in it that displays image thumbnails. I want the images to be sized according to the size of the listbox and the list box to be sized based on the width of the expander. When I expand the expander I want the list box and the images to resize also.   How to enable TextWrapping in the AutoCompleteBox control of the SilverlightToolkit (November 2009)? There is no property to set the wrapping mode. So is there any workaround?   I have a web form that will dynamically create a number of checkboxlist filled with data based on the number of row in database.   I have come across some strange behaviour, and I'm assuming a bug in firefox, when removing a input submit element from the DOM from within the click event. The following code reproduces the issue: <form name="test_form"> <input type="submit" value="remove me" onclick="this.parentNode.removeChild(this);" /> <input type="submit" value="submit normally" /> <input type="button" value="submit via js" onclick="document.test_form.submit();" /> </form> To reproduce: Click "remove me" Click "submit via js". Note that the form does not get submitted, this is the problem. Click "submit normally". Note that the form still gets submitted normally. It appears that, under Firefox, if you remove a submit button from within the click event it puts the form in an invalid state so that any future calls to form.submit() are simply ignored. But it is a javascript-specific issue as normal submit buttons within this form still function fine. To be honest, this is such a simple example of this issue that I was expecting the internet to be awash with other people exeriencing it, but so far searching has yealded nothing useful. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, did you get to the bottom of it? Many thanks

• WPF Style Override breaks Validation Error event propagation

  I have a custom control that overrides Window: public class Window : System.Windows.Window { static Window() { DefaultStyleKeyProperty.OverrideMetadata(typeof(Window), new System.Windows.FrameworkPropertyMetadata(typeof(Window))); } ... } It also has a style: <Style TargetType="{x:Type Controls:Window}" BasedOn="{StaticResource {x:Type Window}}"> <Setter Property="WindowStyle" Value="None" /> <Setter Property="Padding" Value="5" /> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type Controls:Window}"> ... Unfortunately, this breaks the propagation of the Validation.ErrorEvent for my window's contents. That is, my window can receive the event just fine, but I don't know what to do with it to mimic how a standard Window (or whoever) deals with it. If the validating controls are placed in a standard window, they work. They also work if I just take out the OverrideMetadata call (leaving them inside my custom window). Why is this happening, and how can I get the stock functionality for handling these validation error events working again? Thanks!

• Displaying single-instance business object data on SSRS

  I have a SQL Server Reporting Services local (i.e. RDLC) report displayed in a ReportViewer, with two subreports. I am using business objects to populate the datasets. What is the best way to populate single-instance data on my report, e.g. a dynamic title, or a text box that lists a calculated value, not based on the report data? I am currently displaying data using the following style: public class MyRecordList { string Name { get; set; } List<MyRecord> Records { get; set;} } public MyRecord { string Description { get; set;} string Value { get; set;} } I set the datasource to the Records in an instance of MyRecordsList, and they print out find in a table. But adding a textbox and and referring to Name displays nothing. I also tried turning Name into a List, and referring to the first in the list, using: =First(Fields!Name.Value, "Report1_MyRecordList") but still nothing is printed on the report.

• Adding multiple star rating widgets to one page

  I am using this jQuery plugin for star ratings: http://orkans-tmp.22web.net/star_rating/ Everything is going great, including using AJAX, etc. The problem is that I need to have many per page and can't quite figure out how to work with the selectors to achieve this. I think this is probably very easy for someone who knows their jQuery... Here's some code below... There are multiple kids per page, and I need one rating widget for each kid. Now in this page when user's name is displayed its showing rai.. thats the QUESTION why?? cause session should store the same mohit value cause we havnt made any change in session..

  Welcome, I'm exporting results of my script into Excel spreadsheet. Everything works fine, I put big sets of data into SpreadSheet, but sometimes an error occurs: File "C:\Python26\lib\site-packages\win32com\client\dynamic.py", line 550, in __setattr__ self._oleobj_.Invoke(entry.dispid, 0, invoke_type, 0, value) pywintypes.com_error: (-2147352567, 'Exception.', (0, None, None, None, 0, -2146777998), None)*** I suppose It's not a problem of input data format. I put several different types of data strings, ints, floats, lists and it works fine. When I run the sript for the second time it works fine - no error. What's going on? PS. This is code that generates error, what's strange is that the error doesn't occur always. But when I refresh the page, by hitting the refresh button in firefox, the label shows value 0 (as it's supposed to) but the dropdownlist shows 5. I checked the page html source and the dropdown has selected value 0, but shows 5. However, When I refresh the page by putting cursor in address bar and press enter everythig works fine (drowdownlist shows 0). The problem occurs only in FireFox (I've got version 3.5.7). Any ideas what can cause this problem?
