• Which is a good opensource user management system?

  I'm new to php/mySQL and am trying to create a website which will allow users to register. In future, there will be a paid content area where content will be shown based on the payment status. Is there a good opensource lightweight framework which takes care of the user management part? (Register, edit user info, retrieve lost password etc). I'm a flash platform developer and not aware of how to take care of stuff like session hijacking, XSS etc. Should I go ahead and learn to do all this on my own, without using any framework? I thought of using Wordpress' user management system, but not sure how easy that would be. Any suggestion would be great.

• PHP exec() on windows not working

  Hey, I'm trying to execute a program on windows through PHP, the command is posted below. This doesn't seem to be running through the script at all, even though it works when the command is manually entered into the command prompt. exec('C:\\ffmpeg -i ' . $movedfile . • Missing Menu Bar in Visual Studio 2010

  When I opened up Visual Studio 2010 this morning, my Menu Bar (you know, the bar with File, Edit, etc. on it) was missing. I've tried all of the right-click menus, customize options, Function keys and Google searches that I can think of but to no avail. This is exactly the kind of humiliation that brings sobriety to my ever-growing ego as a developer. I'm actually posting this on StackOverflow.com for the world to see. Next, I will be just as humiliated when someone replies to this and tells me precisely how simple it is and how ignorant that I am for not knowing the simple key combination or finding it on Google. Thank you, your majesty, for your sharp retort in advance.

• jQuery datepicker minDate variable

  I'm usung the jQuery datepicker. In my "EndDate" textbox I'd like to use the date selected from the the "StartDate" textbox + 1. How do I do this? I tried this but didn't work. In my start date code I had... test = $(this).datepicker('getDate'); testm = new Date(test.getTime()); testm.setDate(testm.getDate() + 1); Then in my end date code I had... minDate: testm, but the end date still made all the days for the month available. Thanks. Edit. I'm curious as to why this doesn't work. In my start date datepicker I have this.. onSelect: function (dateText, inst) test = dateText Why can't I come down into my end date datepicker and say, minDate: test?

If I'm reading correctly, this is not supported by the javascript library? I got this to work with the java library, but would like to push this functionality to the client. Is it possible? • How to debug a tcl script which is argument to an executable?

  I have a application which takes tcl script as argument. I want to debug tcl script when the application processes it. My development environment consists of Dynamic Languages Toolkit from www.eclipse.org/dltk along with Active state remote debugger -dbgp_tcldebug. I am able to debug the individual tcl scripts with this setup. I created a tcl project in eclipse and added 'startup.tcl' and 'argumentScript.tcl' scripts and added following command to the startup script, set ExecutableName "xyz.exe" set returnValue [catch {eval exec $ExecutableName "argumentScript.tcl" } result] My debugger works fine with 'startup.tcl' script. I added the breakpoint in 'argumentScript.tcl' but it is not working. How can I debug the "argumentScript.tcl" script ? Edit: A solution without using eclipse environment is Tcl Dev Kit with remote debugging feature.

• Why use Python interactive mode?

  When I first started reading about Python, all of the tutorials have you use Python's Interactive Mode. It is difficult to save, write long programs, or edit your existing lines (for me at least). It seems like a far more difficult way of writing Python code than opening up a code.py file and running the interpreter on that file. python code.py I am coming from a Java background, so I have ingrained expectations of writing and compiling files for programs. I also know that a feature would not be so prominent in Python documentation if it were not somehow useful. So what am I missing?

• Inform Activity from a BroadcastReceiver ONLY if it is in the foreground

  Hi there! Maybe it's easy, but I couldn't really figure this out right so far... I got a BroadcastReceiver waiting to get triggered by the AlarmMangager - this works fine. Now: because the event, if it occurs, needs to refresh some elements on screen of the main Activity, I would like to send an Intent from that background BroadcastReceiver to my Activity - but only if it is currently in the foreground, aka active. If it is not running or not visible, I don't care - and the last thing I want to do is start the Activity by my intent! I handle repainting of the views in my onResume method, so I don't care at all. Any hints on how to do that? Thanks! EDIT: my BroadcastReceiver is waiting for alarms that must be notified to the user. So, it must be there and declared in the manifest. The problem is: it will have to decide whether the mentioned Activity is currently up in front or not.

  I've seen some questions on catching the paste event. This looks helpful. But I want to prevent paste on a designmode iframe from happening when the pasted content is not plaintext, but comes from MS Word or other WYSIWYG editor. What is experience on that? I suppose I should catch the event (bind to iframe or to its body?) and look for some specific tags in the clipboard. What content does Internet Explorer add every time? [edit] After doing more research I see there is no easy way to work with clipboard in non Internet Explorer browser except some Flash tricks. I don't want them. How can I detect paste in Firefox and others then?

• Using TCPDF and FPDI with cake php

  Hi Guys, I have go TCPDF setup in my cake php install and am now trying to also use FPDI with it as i need to add a PDF to the start of the PDF that is being generated. WHen trying to do this i am using 3 classes XTCPDF which holds my header data FPDI - FPDI class TCPDF - TCPDF class and it is setup as so: XTCPDF extends FPDI FPDI extends TCPDF When i try and generate a PDF with this using commands from teh FPDI classs i get the following error: Fatal error: Cannot access protected property XTCPDF::$PDFVersion in C:\Program Files\XAMPP\xampp\htdocs\quote\app\vendors\fpdi\fpdi_pdf_parser.php on line 388 Im thinking this may be a scope problem but im not too sure, i have also tested by changing it around to not include XTCPDF class but the same error occurs, EDIT: The code that i am using that accesses the FPDI class is: $tcpdf->setSourceFile(APP.'webroot'.DS.'img'.DS.'pdf'.DS.'front_cover.pdf'); $frontCover = $tcpdf->importPage(1); $tcpdf->useTemplate($frontCover); Thanks in advance for any help :D

  Ok so i wrote a program that makes use of a 3rd party open source library and i want to package it with my program in a single jar. I'm using netbeans 6.8 and everything I've tried java always spit back the error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: libraryname; off topic:also i would like to know how to make an executable-jar(exe) through netbeans if it is possible. (ive seen programs that were written in java but were an .exe) EDIT discovered a plugin for eclipse called FatJar which can do what i want, but i cant find something similar for netbeans, is there such thing?

• ASP.NET Web API and Simple Value Parameters from POSTed data

  In testing out various features of Web API I've found a few oddities in the way that the serialization is handled. These are probably not super common but they may throw you for a loop. Here's what I found. Simple Parameters from Xml or JSON Content Web API makes it very easy to create action methods that accept parameters that are automatically parsed from XML or JSON request bodies. For example, you can send a JavaScript JSON object to the server and Web API happily deserializes it for you. This works just fine:public string ReturnAlbumInfo(Album album) { return album.AlbumName + " (" + album.YearReleased.ToString() + ")"; } However, if you have methods that accept simple parameter types like strings, dates, number etc., those methods don't receive their parameters from XML or JSON body by default and you may end up with failures. This will supposedly change by RTM with Json.net used for client serialization) produces an error response: The parameters dictionary contains a null entry for parameter 'time' of non-nullable type 'System.DateTime' for method 'System.Net.Http.HttpResponseMessage ReturnDateTime(System.DateTime)' in 'AspNetWebApi.Controllers.AlbumApiController'. An optional parameter must be a reference type, a nullable type, or be declared as an optional parameter. Basically any simple parameters are not parsed properly resulting in null being sent to the method. For the string the call doesn't fail, but for the non-nullable date it produces an error because the method can't handle a null value. This behavior is a bit unexpected to say the least, but there's a simple solution to make this work using an explicit [FromBody] attribute:public string ReturnString([FromBody] string message) andpublic HttpResponseMessage ReturnDateTime([FromBody] DateTime time) which explicitly instructs Web API to read the value from the body. UrlEncoded Form Variable Parsing Another similar issue I ran into is with POST Form Variable binding. Web API can retrieve parameters from the QueryString and Route Values but it doesn't explicitly map parameters from POST values either. Taking our same ReturnString function from earlier and posting a message POST variable like this:var formVars = new Dictionary<string,string>(); formVars.Add("message", "Some Value"); var content = new FormUrlEncodedContent(formVars); var client = new HttpClient(); var result = client.PostAsync(http://rasxps/AspNetWebApi/albums/rpc/ReturnString, content).Result; which produces this trace: POST http://rasxps/AspNetWebApi/albums/rpc/ReturnString HTTP/1.1Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencodedHost: rasxpsContent-Length: 18Expect: 100-continue message=Some+Value When calling ReturnString:public string ReturnString(string message) { return message; } unfortunately it does not map the message value to the message parameter. This sort of mapping unfortunately is not available in Web API. Web API does support binding to form variables but only as part of model binding, which binds object properties to the POST variables. Sending the same message as in the previous example you can use the following code to pick up POST variable data:public string ReturnMessageModel(MessageModel model) { return model.Message; } public class MessageModel { public string Message { get; set; }} Note that the model is bound and the message form variable is mapped to the Message property as would other variables to properties if there were more. This works but it's not very dynamic. There's no real easy way to retrieve form variables (or query string values for that matter) in Web API's Request object as far as I can discern. Well only if you consider this easy:public string ReturnString() { var formData = Request.Content.ReadAsAsync<FormDataCollection>().Result; return formData.Get("message"); } Oddly FormDataCollection does not allow for indexers to work so you have to use the .Get() method which is rather odd. If you're running under IIS/Cassini you can always resort to the old and trusty HttpContext access for request data:public string ReturnString() { return HttpContext.Current.Request.Form["message"]; } which works fine and is easier. It's kind of a bummer that HttpRequestMessage doesn't expose some sort of raw Request object that has access to dynamic data - given that it's meant to serve as a generic REST/HTTP API that seems like a crucial missing piece. I don't see any way to read query string values either. • Tree data structure in iphone with coredata

  Hi, I am looking to store a tree structure in CoreData for iphone. Can someone give me some tips on the best way to go about this? Basically I want to have a bunch of folders that people can dive into in a table view, and I want to have leaves of the tree be photos. The thing is, I want to be able to let the user edit these folders on-the-fly and add folders and content (photos) at their discretion. I'm relatively new to CoreData. Any help would be appreciated. • Flex Flash Action Script Form Events

  Doing some development in Flash Builder 4 using Action Script 3.0. I'm trying to have some code run each time the form is displayed. The form is not always recreated, but sometimes hidden and reused. Visual Basic used to have an Activate event that does similar to what I want. I tried Render, but that fires every time the form changes (via click, text-edit, etc.) We tried the FlexEvent.ADD, but it only fires when the form is first created, same as creation_complete. Is there a good resource that shows the form "life cycle" and all the events and when they are fired and in what order? TIA! NOTE: I'm trying to get our forms to close when the ESC is pressed.

• PropertyGrid: Merging multiple dynamic properties when editing multiple objects

  Hi, Let's say I have a class A and a class B. I would like to edit using .NET PropertyGrid multiple instances of A and B simultaneously. The desired behavior would be to have the intersection of properties displayed. If A and B have static (written in the source code) properties everything works fine. Selecting A and B instances will only display the intersection of properties. However, if A and B also have dynamic properties (returned as a PropertyDescriptorCollection through the GetProperties() method) the behavior is wrong. When selecting multiple objects I will only see those static properties and none of the dynamic ones. When I select only one instance I can see all properties (static and dynamic). Anybody any ideas? I couldn't find anything on the internet.
