• How do I get a Canon MG, MP and MX series USB printer working?

  Printer MP6150 driver installed itself upon plugging in the printer. Printer is recognized (lsusb shows it) but does not mount. If the printer is recognized, the driver must be working (or?), but something is blocking the system from mounting the printer. • windows 7 crash during hibernation

  At times, when I hibernate my Dell Latitude e6400 with Windows 7 (64 bit), the laptop screen goes black as it should, but then it takes several minutes before it powers down. Then, when I attempt to "resume," Windows boots up from a fresh startup, with all my work lost, and tells me that it's recovered from a serious error. What can I do to resolve this problem? Other background info: -I got a new hard drive with plenty of space about a year ago; I only use a small fraction of that space. This sometimes happens when I don't have any programs running at all. If it's relevant, I do have Dropbox and OneDrive running in the background, though. -The problem usually occurs when I hibernate just after I unplug from an external monitor to bring my laptop home, but I believe it happens at other times, too. • Buildcraft Minecraft mod causing crashes, NVIDIA-304xx Linux Drivers, KDE

  All is perfect, 96 fps average. Until an item tries to enter a buildcraft pipe. Tekkit instantly crashes, no error dialog. I have no idea what logs to look at for information on the crash, or how to fix it. Also, many properties supported by DATABASEPROPERTY have been replaced by new properties in DATABASEPROPERTYEX.- source (MSDN). • debian mysql server always down

  I am hosting a mysql server in a debian 6.0.4 server hosted in linode, the new data is frequently written into the mysql server using R, about 30-40 "write" per minute, about 7 hours a day, 5 days a week. Recently I found that the mysql server seem to down frequently, always give me error that mysql server cannot be connected through socket. I wonder if this is caused by my high demand to my mysql server, and if this can be solved. I am definitely a newbie in manage server. Please let me know if I need to provide additional information for this question in order to get it solved. Thanks.

• How do I refresh Disk Utility?

  I do a lot of live system building, which eventually involves imaging a USB drive with the built binary image: dd if=binary.img of=/dev/sdX sync ...where /dev/sdX is a USB drive. As part of my workflow, I like to have Ubuntu's Disk Utility open so I can verify the drive letter and unmount anything that gets mounted automatically. I also use it to create extra partitions for persistence. The trouble is, after writing the image to the device — and even after the sync operation — Disk Utility doesn't show the new partition. It just shows free space. GParted sees it and fdisk sees it. Even after closing and opening Disk Utility, it still shows only free space. If I click "Safe Removal" and physically unplug and replug the USB drive, Disk Utility will then see the partition. Why do I need to remove and re-insert the drive for Disk Utility to see the partitions on it? Can I force Disk Utility to update its information without needing to do this? (using Disk Utility 3.0.2 under Ubuntu 11.10.)

• What is the most time-effective way to monitor & manage threats from bots and/or humans?

  I'm usually overwhelmed by the amount of tools that hosting companies provide to track & quantify traffic data and statistics. I'm equally overwhelmed by the countless flavors of malicious 'attacks' that target any and every web site known to man. The security methods used to protect both the back and front end of a website are documented well and are straight-forward in terms of ease of implementation and application, but the army of autonomous bots knows no boundaries and will always find a niche of a website to infest. So what can be done to handle the inevitable swarm of bots that pound your domain with brute force? Whenever I look at error logs for my domains, there are always thousands of entries that look like bots trying to sneak sql code into the database by tricking the variables in the url into giving them schema information or private data within the database. My barbaric and time-consuming plan of defense is just to monitor visitor statistics for those obvious patterns of abuse and either ban the ips or range of ips accordingly. Aside from that, I don't know much else I could do to prevent all of the ping pong going on all day. Are there any good tools that automatically monitor this background activity (specifically activity that throws errors on the web & db server) and proactively deal with these source(s) of mayhem?

• Aspect Ratio on Nero 9 for burning DVD

  I am currently attempting to burn a screen capture file to DVD. I will admit that I know very little about the process, the terminology, and am at a loss of how to find this information. I am using Nero 9 and am very displeased that the manuals available to me online explain very little. My current problem is that when I burn to DVD, my beautiful screen capture ends up being cropped. Through endless amounts of googling I am under the impression that this is due to aspect ratio. However, as windows will not tell me the resolution size for me to determine the correct aspect ratio I do not know how to proceed. Is there a way using Nero 9 for me to be able to burn my screen capture to DVD? Any advice or suggestions are appreciated.

• Where do I place XNA content pipeline references?

  I am relatively new to XNA, and have started to delve into the use of the content pipeline. I have already figured out that tricky issue of adding a game library containing classes for any type of .xml file I want to read. Here's the issue. I am trying to handle the reading of all XML content through use of an XMLHandler object that uses the intermediate deserializer. Any time reading of such data is required, the appropriate method within this object would be called. So, as a simple example, something like this would occur when a character levels: public Spell LevelUp(int levelAchived) { XMLHandler.FindSkillsForLevel(levelAchived); } This method would then read the proper .xml file, sending back the spell for the character to learn. However, the XMLHandler is having issues even being created. I cannot get it to use the using namespace of Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Content.Pipeline. I get an error on my using statement in the XMLHandler class: using Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Content.Pipeline.Serialization.Intermediate; The error is a typical reference error: Type or namespace name "'Pipeline' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Content' (are you missing an assembly reference?)" I THINK this is because this namespace is already referenced in my game's content. I would really have no issue placing this object within my game's content (since that is ALL it deals with anyways), but the Content project does not seem capable of holding anything but content files. In summary, I need to use the Intermediate Deserializer in my main project's logic, but, as far as I can make out, I can't safely reference the associated namespace for it outside of the game's content. I'm not a terribly well-versed programmer, so I may be just missing some big detail I've never learned here. How can I make this object accessible for all projects within the solution? I will gladly post more information if needed!

I followed the instructions here - and for the last two Ubuntu releases it was surely no problem. When I try to install ia32-libs I get the following issue: marc@PinballWizard:~$ sudo apt-get install ia32-libs Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Package ia32-libs is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source However the following packages replace it: lib32z1 lib32ncurses5 lib32bz2-1.0 E: Package 'ia32-libs' has no installation candidate Is there any possibility to install icaclient? • Selective Disable APC caching

  I installed APC on my VPS and it works great with W3 Cache wordpress plugin. My problem is that there is one database in MySQL which is pinged by client end every few seconds to see if there are new updates. These db contains certain time sensitive information and hence it can't be part of cached data. How can I disable APC for this database/files? or Can I set a very short expiry of certain type of data? Any help is highly appreciated.

• Could not calculate upgrade from Maverick Meerkat to Natty Narwhal

  I upgraded from Ubuntu Lucid Lynx to Maverick Meerkat with the following commands: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade sudo apt-get install update-manager-core sudo vi /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades and changed the last line to Prompt=normal sudo do-release-upgrade -d This upgrade was OK. I decided to repeat the same steps and to upgrade Maverick Meerkat to Natty Narwhal. It ended with this message: Building data structures... Done Calculating the changes Calculating the changes Could not calculate the upgrade An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade: Can not mark 'xubuntu-desktop' for upgrade This can be caused by: * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu If none of this applies, then please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report. • Grub options are not visible on booting on Samsung ATIV Book 9 Lite running Ubuntu 14.04

  I've managed to install Ubuntu 14.04 on my new Samsung ATIV Book 9 Lite ultrabook. After updating some configuratiosn in the UEFI installation was very easy. The only questions and issue I believe I'm still experience is when booting. I believe when the laptop would be displaying the grub boot options I see the following. There is a black screen with a purple border of 10px around the screen. I'd like to know how I can update my system so that I see the grub boot manager. • API Wordpress & Inksoft

  I am new to this whole website design and API bit. My husband has bought a license for the program InkSoft. Their site does not offer very much customization, so we decided to buy a Wordpress.org site that is hosted through godaddy. With all of that said, I am trying to figure out a way to take the products that are on InkSoft's website, which get their information from the suppliers' warehouses (for things like inventory), and put them on the Wordpress site. There is an area on InkSoft where I can access "Store API...API feeds." I guess I am just confused on where to put this type of stuff in the WordPress site or how to put it in there? If I go to the "Products" area on this Store API, I am given a URL that deals with the product stuff and I am also given a HUGE list of stuff that contains stuff such as: < ProductCategoryList < vw_product_categories product_category_id="1000076" name="Most Popular" path="Most Popular" thumburl_front="REPLACE_DOMAIN_WITH/images/publishers/2433/ProductCategories/Most_Popular/80.gif" / Can everyone give me directions on what and how to use all this stuff?
