  • iphone web app: open directions in external maps application

    I've seen the answers for opening the Maps app in a native iPhone app, but is there any way to do this in a web app? I've tried changing window.location to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=cupertino for example, to no avail. I've tried using a simple anchor tag linked to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=cupertino, also to no avail. Has anyone gotten this to work before? I'm working on a map-heavy application, and I'd like to provide users with directions at the end. I figured it would be easiest to simply open it up in the Map application. Note: I'm currently testing with just the simulator, could that lead to problems? My iPhone is down for the count at the moment.

  • Minifying CSS, JS, and HTML - together

    Minifying JS and CSS is quite common. The benefits of minifying JS are much greater that those seen with CSS because with CSS you can't rename elements - and same goes for HTML. But what if all 3 were minified together so that the benefits of using shorter names can be brought to CSS and HTML? That is, instead of minifying without any regard to the relationships between the 3, these could be preserved and made simpler. I imagine that the implementation could be quite difficult but if it were possible, do you think it would provide a significant advantage over traditional minification?

    I am writing a small jQuery plugin to update a set of Divs with content obtained using Ajax calls. I was thinking of adding a "start" and "stop" instead of the "handlers" function and subsequently storing the setInterval handler like this: start: function(divNum) { divs[divNum] = setInterval("$.fn.jDIV.query(" + i + ")", 5000); }, stop: function(divNum) { clearInterval(divs[divNum]); } I did not use jQuery to setup and destroy the event handlers. Is there a better approach (perhaps using more of jQuery) to achieve this?

    I've been writing JS (mainly jQuery) for quite a few months now, but today I decided to make my first abstraction as a jQuery method. I already have working code but I feel/know that I'm not doing it the right way, so I come here for some enlightenment. Note: Please do not reply that there's already something out there that does the trick as I already know that. My interest in this matter is rather educational. What my code is intended to do (and does): Limit the characters of a textfield and change the color of the counter when the user is approaching the end.   • qx.ui.table.Table hangs my browser...

    Hi all, I have a strange bug. I create a qx.ui.table.Table and if not all specified columns fit into window (horizontal scroll appear) my browsers (firefox 3.5.6 and chrome 5.0.344) hangs. If i just set width for window large (e.g. from 600px to 800px) - all works fine. May be I'm doing something wrong? Or how can I fix/avoid this 'strange' behaviour?

    What is the efficient way to search highest number of cells in big table with numerous colspan (merge cells ** colspan should be ignored so in below example highest number of cells is 4 in first row). Is there an easy way to do this?   • Google Maps API v3 - Directions/Paths breaking KML Overlay Infowindows

    I'm in the end stages before content filling and then production on the Google Maps project I've been working on. A number of bugs and such have been thwarted, but this latest one has me relatively stumped. The demo map can be viewed here: http://dougglover.com/samples/finalProduct/ Everything works fine until you create a path using the Directions section(not to be confused with Get Directions). To reproduce the problem, play around with the map, click on a building or two, just to see the functionality. After ensuring that clicking on a building works(brings up an infowindow), choose two buildings to get directions to in the Directions area. It works great with the routing algorithm I've implemented, and the paths show up nicely, and intelligently. The problem being that you can't click buildings anymore to see their info. I'm assuming it has something to do with the z-index error popping up in the console, but I'm not sure how to handle that if it is the problem. Any guidance is greatly appreciated. :)

    I'm loading an image in an iframe and then (once the iframe is loaded) loading the image on the page. But most browsers seem to be loading the image twice. Why isn't the img tag being loading from the cache?     Hi everybody, I'm developing an web application using asp.net mvc, and i need to do a stopwatch (chronometer) (with 30 seconds preprogrammed to start in a certain moment) on client-side using the time of the server, by the way, the client's clock can't be as the server's clock. So, i'm using Jquery to call the server by JSon and get the time, but it's very stress because each one second I call the server to get time, something like this: $(function() { GetTimeByServer(); }); function GetTimeByServer() { $.getJSon('/Home/Time', null, function(result) { if (result.SecondsPending < 30) { // call another function to start an chronometer } else { window.SetTimeout(GetTimeByServer, 1000); //call again each 1 second! } }); } It works fine, but when I have more than 3 or 4 call like this, the browser slowly but works! I'd like to know, how improve more performace in client side, or if is there any way to do this... is there any way to client listen the server like a "socket" to know if the chronometer should start...     I am using wordpress as a CMS and trying to allow user fields to be input to populate the info windows in a Google Map script. I looked at htmlspcialchar and htmlentities but rather than strip everything out I would like to have it escaped so it still works and the html is intact. Any suggestions? I am pretty new to PHP and would really appreciate any pointers.

    Hi, I've got some code that does an ajax request using jQuery, and handles success and error conditions. On an error, I want to find out what the URL I called was, so I can log it. This information appears to be contained in the XMLHttpRequest.channel, but firefox is complaining about accessing this - Permission denied for <http://localhost:8081> to get property XMLHttpRequest.channel Any ideas how I can determine the URL associated with an XMLHttpRequest?     userAnswer[] holds the string of the answer the user types in and is comparing it to answers[] to see if they match up and then spits out correct or wrong. j is equal to the question number. So if j was question 6, answers[j] should refer to answers[6] right? Then userAnswer[6] should compare to answers[6] and match if its correct.     Hey guys, there is a form where the user select some of his friends and I'm curious on how I can implement a list that searches simultaneously while the user is typing a friend's name and when he selects the name the name is written in the text box(jQuery). And if the user wants to select more than one friend, when I'm inserting the names in the database, how can I separate the names that are written in one input field?
