• Ideas on C# DSL syntax

  Hi, I am thinking about implementing a templating engine using only the plain C#/.NET 4 syntax with the benefit of static typing. Then on top of that templating language we could create Domain Specific Languages (let's say HTML4, XHTML, HTML5, RSS, Atom, Multipart Emails and so on). One of the best DSLs in .NET 4 (if not only one) is SharpDOM. It implements HTML-specific DSL. Looking at SharpDOM, I am really impressed of what you can do using .NET (4). So I believe there are some not-so-well-known ways for implementing custom DSLs in .NET 4. Possibly not as well as in Ruby, but still. So my the question would be: what are the C# (4) specific syntax features that can be used for implementing custom DSLs? The main problem there is that it gives an error FWK005 parse may not be called while parsing The main reason was that multiple of threads working for xerces validation at the same time. • Problem retrieving multiple instances of the same asp.net session variable

  I'm having problems with retrieving multiple instances of a session variable from an InProc session state. In the following code I persist a simple BusinessObject into a session variable on the Page_Load event. On the click of a button I try to retrieve the object back into 2 new declared instances of the same BusinessObject. All works great until I change one of the properties in the first instance, it changes the second instance as well. Is this normal behaviour? I would have thought as these were new instances they wouldn’t demonstrate static behaviour? Any ideas where I'm going wrong?   Hey. I am loading in data to a UITableView, from a custom UITableViewCell (own class and nib). It works great, until I try to access the indexPath.row/[indexPath.row]. • How do I compress a Json result from ASP.NET MVC with IIS 7.5

  I'm having difficulty making IIS 7 correctly compress a Json result from ASP.NET MVC. I've enabled static and dynamic compression in IIS. I can verify with Fiddler that normal text/html and similar records are compressed. Viewing the request, the accept-encoding gzip header is present. The response has the mimetype "application/json", but is not compressed. I've identified that the issue appears to relate to the MimeType. When I include mimeType="*/*", I can see that the response is correctly gzipped. How can I get IIS to compress WITHOUT using a wildcard mimeType? I assume that this issue has something to do with the way that ASP.NET MVC generates content type headers. The CPU usage is well below the dynamic throttling threshold. • Wicket Authorization Using MetaDataKey

  I am trying to implement a simple authorization strategy for my Wicket application. • Is it a good practice to suppress warnings?

  Sometimes while writing Java in Eclipse, I write code that generates warnings. A common one is this, which I get when extending the Exception class: public class NumberDivideException extends Exception { public NumberDivideException() { super("Illegal complex number operation!"); } public NumberDivideException(String s) { super(s); } } // end NumberDivideException The warning: The serializable class NumberDivideException does not declare a static final serialVersionUID field of type long. I know this warning is caused by my failure to... well, it says right above. I could solve it by including the serialVersionUID, but this is a one hour tiny assignment for school; I don't plan on serializing it anytime soon... The other option, of course, is to let Eclipse add @SuppressWarnings("serial"). But every time my mouse hovers over the Suppress option, I feel a little guilty. For programming in general, is it a good habit to suppress warnings? (Also, as a side question, is adding a "generated" serialVersionUID like serialVersionUID = -1049317663306637382L; the proper way to add a serialVersionUID, or do I have to determine the number some other way?)

• Doctrine stupid or me stupid?

  I want to use a single Doctrine install on our server and serve multiple websites. Naturally the models should be maintained in the websites' modelsfolder. I have everything up (and not running) like so: Doctrine @ /CustomFramework/Doctrine Websites @ /var/www/vhosts/custom1.com/ /var/www/vhosts/custom2.com/ Generating works fine, all models are delivered in /application_folder/models and /application_folder/models/generated for the correct website. I've added Doctrine::loadModels('path_to_models') in the bootstrap file for each website, and also registered the autoloaded. But.... • Sending email with attachments from C#, attachments arrive as Part 1.2 in Thunderbird

  I have a C# application which emails out Excel spreadsheet reports via an Exchange 2007 server using SMTP. These arrive fine for Outlook users, but for Thunderbird and Blackberry users the attachments have been renamed as "Part 1.2". I found this article which describes the problem, but doesn't seem to give me a workaround. I don't have control of the Exchange server so can't make changes there. Is there anything I can do on the C# end? I have tried using short filenames and HTML encoding for the body but neither made a difference.   Hi! I am trying to create an app that uses offline maps and custom tiles. For this I have decided to use OSMDroid and have included the jar within my project. I will create my custom tiles using MOBAC. • Serial Communication between Java RXTX and Arduino

  I'm trying to communicate between my PC (Windows 7 using Netbeans and RXTX) with an Arduino Pro, using the serial port. The Arduino is actually connected to the PC using an FTDI cable. The code is based on the Java SimpleRead.Java found here. Currently the Arduino simply prints out a string when it starts up. My Java program should print the number of bytes that have been read and then print out the contents. The Java program works, sort of... If the string is long (10 bytes or so) the output will get broken up. So if on the Arduino I print Serial.println("123456789123456789"); //20 bytes including '\r' and '\n' The output of my Java program may look something like: Number of Bytes: 15 1234567891234 Number of Bytes: 5 56789 or Number of Bytes: 12 1234567891 Number of Bytes: 8 23456789 I'm thinking it's a timing problem, because when I manually go through the code using the debugger, the result string is always what it should be: one 20 byte string. I've been messing with various things but I haven't been able to fix the problem. • Setting System.Drawing.Color through .NET COM Interop

  I am trying to use Aspose.Words library through COM Interop. There is one critical problem: I cannot set color. It is supposed to work by assigning to DocumentBuilder.Font.Color, but when I try to do it I get OLE error 0x80131509. • Cisco VPN Client Behind ASA 5505

  I'm trying to get connected to another ASA via Cisco VPN Client. I am behind an ASA 5505 myself and I am tryihng to VPN to a 5510. I get the message: Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the Client. Reason 412: The remote peer is no longer responding. I can connect to the other ASA if I use a normal cheap Linksys. • Get id when inserting new row using TableAdapter.Update on a file based database

  I have a database table with one field, called ID, being an auto increment integer. Using a TableAdapter I can read and modify existing rows as well as create new ones. I guess the problem in the code comes from row.ID that is still -1 after the first Update() call. The Insert is successful and in the database the row has a valid value of ID. How can I get that ID so that I can continue with the second Update call? Update: IT looks like this could have been done automatically using this setting. However according to the answer on msdn social, OLEDB drivers do not support this feature. Not sure where to go from here, use something else than oledb? Update: Tried SQLCompact but discovered that it had the same limitation, it does not support multiple statements. Final question: is there any simple(single file based) database that would allow you to get the values of a inserted row.

• Bind members of different classes

  In a C++ program I have two classes (structs) like struct A { int x; double y; // other members }; struct B { int x; double y2; // other members }; I'd like to somehow "bind" the corresponding members, e.g. A::x to B::x and A::y to B::y2. By "bind" I mean ability to obtain a reference to the bound variable, for example given a member of class A I could assign it to the value of the corresponding B member. Once I have such bind, I'd like to build a bind table or something similar which I could iterate over. This would allow, for example, copying the corresponding fields from A a; to B b; like CopyBound(a, b, bind_table);, but probably also doing some other things not limited to Copy interface. The problem with this bind_table is that I want static typing and the bind_table would have to contain different types in this case. For example, a table of pointers to class members would contain &A::x and &A::y, but they are of different type, so I cannot just put them say into an array. Any ideas how this can be conveniently implemented, having as much compile-time type checking as possible?

• Nested multithread operations tracing

  I've a code alike void ExecuteTraced(Action a, string message) { TraceOpStart(message); a(); TraceOpEnd(message); } The callback (a) could call ExecuteTraced again, and, in some cases, asynchronously (via ThreadPool, BeginInvoke, PLINQ etc, so I've no ability to explicitly mark operation scope). I want to trace all operation nested (even if they perform asynchronously). So, I need the ability to get last traced operation inside logical call context (there may be a lot of concurrent threads, so it's impossible to use lastTraced static field). There're CallContext.LogicalGetData and CallContext.LogicalSetData, but unfortunately, LogicalCallContext propagates changes back to the parent context as EndInvoke() called. Even worse, this may occure at any moment if EndInvoke() was called async. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/883486/endinvoke-changes-current-callcontext-why Also, there is Trace.CorrelationManager, but it based on CallContext and have all the same troubles. There's a workaround: use the CallContext.HostContext property which does not propagates back as async operation ended. Also, it does'nt clone, so the value should be immutable - not a problem. Though, it's used by HttpContext and so, workaround is not usable in Asp.Net apps. The only way I see is to wrap HostContext (if not mine) or entire LogicalCallContext into dynamic and dispatch all calls beside last traced operation. Help, please!

them into the Application.Resources section which i obviously don't want. • Jersey / ServletContext and resource loading on startup.

  Hello, I'm kind of new in web development with Java. I am developing a web service and I've chosen REST / Jersey for it. I want to init some stuff on startup of the service and to keep them all along the life of the service. First question : Is the constructor of the Jersey Servlet a good place to do that ? Basically, what I want to do is to load a config.ini file located in my WEB-INF directory. Following this help, I understand I need a ServletContext to load my file as a resource. However, it is not clear to me how to get this ServletContext in a Jersey Servlet, as it is not really an instance of a servlet, but rather a POJO with some annotations. I wanted to try this tip, but the attribute "context" is null in the constructor. I think that Jersey might populate it after the constructor. Right ? So how is the right way to do this ?
