  • jQuery - I'm getting unexpected outputs from a basic math formula.

    Hi I would like to start by saying I'd greatly appreciate anyones help on this. I have built a small caculator to calculate the amount a consumer can save annually on energy by installing a ground heat pump or solar panels. As far as I can tell the mathematical formulas are correct and my client verified this yesterday when I showed him the code. Two problems. The first is that the calculator is outputting ridiculously large numbers for the first result. The second problem is that the solar result is only working when there are no zeros in the fields. Are there some quirks as to how one would write mathematical formulas in JS or jQuery? Any help greatly appreciated.   • ASP.NET RangeValidator can't do even the most basic math !?!?!?

    I'm having an issue with my ASP.NET RangeValidator controls. I want to allow users to enter a discount amount, and this amount must be negative (< $0.00). I want to verify that the amount entered in a textbox is a negative value, so I have this in my page markup: <asp:TextBox ID="tbxDiscount" runat="server" /> <asp:RangeValidator ID="rvDiscount" runat="server" ControlToValidate="tbxDiscount" MinimumValue="0.0" MaximumValue="0.0" EnableClientScript="true" ErrorMessage="Please enter a negative value for a discount" /> and I attempt to set the MinimumValue dynamically in my code before the page gets rendered - to the negative equivalent of my item price. So if the item is $69, I want to set the minimum value to - $69: rvDiscount.MinimumValue = (-1.0m * Price).ToString(); Trouble is: I keep getting this error message: The maximum value 0.0 cannot be less than the minimum value -69.00 for rvDiscount WTF?!?!??! Where I come from, -69 $ IS less than $0 ...... so what's the problem? And more importantly: what is the solution to the problem??

  • Jquery Basic Beginner Question: How do i make my function reusable?

    I have spent the last few hours attempting to do this on my own, and using Google to find a solution but to no avail. So if you can help out i would super appreciate it! Basically I have a page which has 3 separate biographies in 'preview mode', which shows only the first paragraph of each bio. When you click on 'read more' for one bio it opens up the 'full mode'. What is happening at the moment, is if i click on one 'read more' link, it opens up the full mode on all 3 bio's.   • Can someone please explain to me the basic function of Intents in the Android OS?

    I'm new to programming applications for the Android OS. As far as general architecture of the OS goes, I understand that processes are implemented as Linux processes and that each one is sandboxed. However, I'm utterly confused on the IPCs and syscalls (if any) used. I know that the IBinder is a form of this; parcels are sent back and forth between processes and Bundles are array forms of parcels (?). But even that is still unfamiliar to me. Same with Intents. All in all, I don't understand what kinds of IPCs are implemented and how. Could someone briefly explain to me the specific methods used by user level applications in Android OS to communicate with each other and the OS? I've done kernel programming and played with various IPCs in Linux (Ubuntu and Debian) so it would help immensely if this was all explained in relation to what I'm familiar with... This should work like this: The company would use 2-3 jabber accounts like Google Talk for providing support Online chat form that would connect to one of currently online jabber accounts Optionally give one proxy jabber account to the customers. This proxy would contact any of the currently online company accounts. Using this customers will see only one chat contact but they will speak with different people based on who is online at the moment. Currently I found only some expensive solutions like J-livesupport, Akeni. I would really appreciate if you will recommend something you successfully implemented.

  • Want to develop for Android. Have a few basic, non-FAQ questions

    Hi everyone, Recently myself and a small group of friends became interested in developing a game for a mobile platform. Originally we considered the iPhone but none of us use macs, so we decided Android would be a more realistic platform to use. Before we get started, I was hoping that I might find some answers to a couple questions so we don't waste our time if this project isn't feasible. Any help is appreciated! I can't seem to find out how many programming languages Android supports. Java is obvious, but what about C+? It seems that Android supports C and C++ through Eclipse, but is that it? (I'm not the programmer for the project which is why I'm asking this. He's comfortable in C+). Our game involves the use of two digital analog sticks (it's not a twin-stick shooter but it's a similar concept). It would seem that most Droid devices unfortunately don't use multi-touch though... Are there many devices out there right now which support this functionality and I'm just not seeing them, or should we possibly consider the development of a different game that would only use a single input? Assuming there's no snags following those first two questions, what would you consider the best screen resolution to develop in? It seems like there are a variety of resolutions out there right now and we can't decide which is the best to use. Again, any answers are appreciated!

    I'm currently writing a custom forms application that allows a user to design a data capture form. I store the field's ControlType and ControlAssembly in the database and then create them on the forms at runtime. For example: ControlType = `System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox`. ControlAssembly= `System.Web`. So I can therefor create a fully qualified name and create the control doing the following: string target = Assembly.CreateQualifiedName("System.Web", field.ControlType); Type type = Type.GetType(target); Control control = Activator.CreateInstance(type) as Control; But, this will cause an error as "System.Web" is not a valid assembly name. The assembly name itself has to be fully qualified, i.e. System.Web.Extensions would be: "System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" Is there any way I can get the fully qualified name of the assembly System.Web without having to store the entirity of the version, culture and PKT?

    Could someone point me in the right direction here? So it's actually within a click handler. If I understand this correctly, this snippet takes the source if the image I just clicked and strips it so I end up with only the filename. If I do an alert(filename), I get the filename only. So this is working ok. But then, it does an ajax call to a php file called "save_to_db.php" and sends data: filename. This is correct right? Then, it does a callback which does an alert + data. Does this seem correct so far? Cause my php file looks like this: <?php require("dbconnect2.php"); $uploadstring = $_POST['filename']; $sessionid = $_SESSION['id']; echo ($sessionid); mysql_query("UPDATE brukere SET brukerBakgrunn = '$uploadstring' WHERE brukerID=" .$_SESSION['id']); mysql_close(); ?> When I click the image, the jQuery snippet fires and I get the results of this php file as output for the alert box. I think that the variables somehow are empty. Because notice the echo($sessionid); which is a variable I've created just to test what the session ID is. And it returns nothing. What could be the issue here? Edit: I just tried to echo out the $uploadstring variable as well and it also returns nothing. It's like the jQuery snippet doesn't even pass the variable on to the php file?

  • how to control textbox type to double in visual basic?

    Hi, I'd like to make a textbox that accepts only numbers, but not integer, but rather double. I've read here about e.Handled = Not Char.IsDigit(e.KeyChar) and it works, but again, it can be used only for integer, since it declines decimal point. Another thing I've read here is If Not Double.TryParse(TextBox2.Text, value) Then .... and it would work fine, except that it allows only decimal comma instead of point. I don't know whether it's because of my location settings (Hungary, we use commas instead of points), but I don't have any other idea how to solve my problem, and the SQL server I send my data uses decimal point.
