• Own data format for the iPhone

  Hi, I would like to create my own data format for an iPhone app. The files should be similar structured as e.g. Apple's iWork files (.pages). That means, I have a folder with some files in it: The file 'Juicy.fruit' contains: Fruits ---> Apple.xml ---> Banana.xml ---> Pear.xml ---> PreviewPicture.png This folder "Fruits" should be packed in a handy file 'Juicy.fruit'. Compression isn't necessary. How could I achieve this? I've discovered some open source ZIP-libraries. However, I would like to to build my own data format with the iPhones built-in libs (if possible). Best regards, Stefan

  I have result of query in form EmpId Profit OrderID CompanyName ------ ------ ------- -------------- 1 500 $ 1 Acme Company 1 200 $ 1 Evolve Corp. 2 400 $ 1 Acme Company 2 100 $ 1 Evolve Corp. 3 500 $ 1 Acme Company 3 500 $ 1 Evolve Corp. Now the desired report format is EmpId OrderId Acme's Profit Evolve's Profit ----- ------ ------------- --------------- 1 1 700 $ 700 $ 2 1 500 $ 500 $ 3 3 1000 $ 1000 $ I tried hard at the crosstab but I'm unable to figure out how to group the records. I tried moving CompanyName in CrossTab columns and moved EmpId in rows & tried a cross tab group but results are not as expected. My questions are 1) Is this format achievable with a cross tab ? 2) How do I group record's by EmpId's in my crosstab in such a way that the Companies are moved horizontally ?

• basic boost date_time input format question

  I've got a pointer to a string, (char *) as input. The date/time looks like this: Sat, 10 Apr 2010 19:30:00 I'm only interested in the date, not the time. I created an "input_facet" with the format I want: boost::date_time::date_input_facet inFmt("%a %d %b %Y"); but I'm not sure what to do with it. Ultimately I'd like to create a date object from the string. I'm pretty sure I'm on the right track with that input facet and format, but I have no idea how to use it. Thanks.

  Hi, I am using Java Date and Hibernate which is then being saved in the database (Postgresql). I am not that good in hibernate Part of the Mapping File <property name="DateOfBirth" type="java.util.Date"> <column name="DATEOFBIRTH" /> </property> I am using GWT Date picker Short date format i.e. yyyy-MM-dd. I am getting the value from the date picker using View.getUserDateOfBirth().getValue() But when I am saving the date 2010-11-30 into the datebase it is saving it as 2010-11-30 00:00:00 instead of 2010-11-30 So, I want it to be saved in the database as in this format 2010-11-30?? I have many things such timestamp but i not being able to configure it. I think this part <property name="DateOfBirth" type="java.util.Date"> <column name="DATEOFBIRTH" /> </property> should be changed but I do not know what to change

  I am trying to learn the following things: How mp3 file looks like internally? I found this: http://mpgedit.org/mpgedit/mpeg_format/MP3Format.html but it seems old. Is there any recent changes to the format? I couldnt find any. How to open a mp3 file in java and look for bytes? I tried using audiostream but I am getting a lot of zeros and signed short integers which nowhere resemble the header/body format as mentioned in the above link. Am I wrong in interpreting the bytes? How to get amplitude, frequency and pitch of a mp3 file? No idea. Can you please suggest some book or tutorial? Can you please help me in getting the solution for the above questions? I am sorry if some questions appear to be naive, I am a just begun to learn mp3. Thanks

• Why isn't Passenger respecting my custom log format?

  I need to change the log format of my rails app. I put this file in lib directory and required it in development.rb env file. require 'hodel_3000_compliant_logger' config.logger = Hodel3000CompliantLogger.new(config.log_path) and I should get the output of the development.log file as follows: Jun 28 03:05:13 millisami-notebook rails[18243]: Memory usage: 86888 | PID: 18243 I get this exact log when I start my app with script/server (Mongrel). But when I run the app via Passenger, the format being logged is Rails' default. Why doesn't Passenger write to the log file like Mongrel does?

• Seeking a GUI auto-format feature for T-SQL

  Is there a freely available GUI tool that will allow interaction with Microsoft SQL Server (via T-SQL) that provides an auto-format feature? I constantly find myself writing queries in SQL Query Analyzer (Microsoft’s standard GUI tool for T-SQL) and cutting/pasting the whole thing into SQLyog (a GUI tool for MySQL), where I can press F12 and have it reformatted into an easily readable, industry standard format. I then cut/paste this back into Query Analyzer to execute. I do this all the time at work and haven’t been able to find an alternative. I realize that SQLyog is no longer free software, but what I’m looking for is a specific alternative to a MS SQL Server interface (with auto-formatting). Thanks in advance for your help.

When I excute this in ruby, in result set the sent_date is stores as (Tue Apr 20 00:00:00 UTC 2010) messages = Message.find_by_sql(sql) puts messages[0]['sent_date'] puts statement prints "Tue Apr 20 00:00:00 UTC 2010" how to get same date format in mysql result and ruby result set.   Hi folks, I have a date column in a DB tabel that I want to query using a date taken from textbox.text. the user selects a date from the calendar in the format dd/MM/yyyy. I want to use that date to put into a query. How do i format the date to be able to query the database? • How do I best run a search on Date when it is not a :has_many association?

  I have a number of activities that have a calculated scheduled date. The activities, for example, Email, have a email.days method which is the days from a Contact.start_date on which it should be sent. This means contact.start_date + email.days yields a date on which email is sent to contact. I would like to use link_to around the date, so I can see all the emails and associated contacts that are to be scheduled on that date. However, this "date" is not an attribute or an associate, so I'm not linking to a model's view. It's calculated. So: 1) What should the actual "format" of the date that gets passed in the URl be? What is the method to do the consistent conversion? 2) How do I (find) all instances, because this "date" is not an actual attribute, is it a calculated value which changes depending on the two associated models of Contact and Email.   I had code that parses date as follows: String ALT_DATE_TIME_FORMAT = "yyyy-MM-dd'T'HH:mm:ss.SSSZ"; SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat( ALT_DATE_TIME_FORMAT); Date date = sdf.parse(requiredTimeStamp); And it was working fine, suddenly, this stopped working. It turns out an admin made some config changes on the server and the date is currently being returned as "2010-12-27T10:50:44.000-08:00" which is not parse-able by the above pattern. I have two questions: The first would be what pattern would parse the date being returned by the JVM in the format above (specifically, just '-08:00' as the time zone)? And second, where exactly would one change such settings on a linux RHEL 5 server so that we are aware of such changes in the future?

  When I run this test code on my development machine it works as expected. CF9.01 I am in europe using euro date format so 10/09/1957 is 10th Sept 1957. <cfset testDate="10/09/1957"> <cfoutput> Initial string = "#testDate#"<br> LSparsedatetime output = #lsparsedatetime(session.form.patientDOB)#<br> parsedatetime output = #parsedatetime(session.form.patientDOB)# </cfoutput> Output on test machine is Initial string = "10/09/1957" LSparsedatetime output = {ts '1957-09-10 00:00:00'} parsedatetime output = {ts '1957-10-09 00:00:00'} Same code , output on live server is Initial string = "10/09/1957" LSparsedatetime output = {ts '1957-10-09 00:00:00'} parsedatetime output = {ts '1957-10-09 00:00:00'} Server OS is Windows Web Server 2008 R2. I checked Control panel date and time setting and it is correctly set to London. Web server is IIS7 but I don't think that would affect anything? IN region and Language, location is set to United Kingdom and in Administrative (change system locale ) it is also correct as English (United Kingdom)

I understand that the uncaught exception probably can't be formatted, but is there some way of having uwsgi use the logging module for its internal logs? Or the other way around?

I want something functionally equivalent to: name .. ", " .. msg .. "?" but not so ugly, in lua. Okay, so I can do string.format("%s, %s?", name, msg), but can I go even a step further, something like perl style, where I can go: "%name, %msg?" Thanks!

• Date in textboxes changing format

  I have an application (asp.net 3.5) that support 4 different languages. Along with other cultural changes, the date formats must match the current culture on out reporting pages. We set the date formats of each of the textboxes like: string date = DateTime.Today.ToString("d"); //returns the date portion only textbox1.Text = date; textbox2.Text = date; etc... When the user selects Spanish or British English the format should be dd/mm/yyyy. However, then I navigate to the page it displays in mm/dd/yyyy. After a postback it then displays dd/mm/yyyy. After another postback it switches to the mm/dd/yyyy format and on and on. I have debugged through this and I see that the culture is correct for the application and the date formats are returned to me correctly, yet when it displays, it displays incorrectly. Has anyone ever seen this or know what is happening?

  Hello I'm doing some data conversion from PostgreSQL to Microsoft SQL Server. So far it has all went well and I almost have the entire database dump script running. There is only one thing that is now messed up: dates. The dates are dumped to a string format. These are two example formats I've seen so far: '2008-01-14 12:00:00' and the more precise '2010-04-09 12:23:45.26525' I would like a regex (or set of regexs) that I could run so that will replace these with SQL Server compatible dates. Anyone know how I can do that?

• Load a bitmap from file in RGB format (without alpha)

  Hi, i simply want to load a .BMP file and get the Bitmap object in 24bit RGB format (or 32bit in RGB format). All methods I tried return a Bitmap/Image object with PixelFormat = Format32bppArgb. Even if of course BMPs don't have alpha. new Bitmap(System.Drawing.Image.FromFile(fileName, true)); new Bitmap(fileName); I currently solve the problem by copying the first object to another in memory bitmap at 24bit RBG. Is there a single method to do it? Thanks

  I have a string "1112224444' it is a telephone number. I want to format as 111-222-4444 before I store it in a file. It is on a datarecord and I would prefer to be able to do this without assigning a new variable. I was thinking: String.Format("{0:###-###-####}", i["MyPhone"].ToString() ); but that does not seem to do the trick. ** UPDATE ** Ok. I went with this solution Convert.ToInt64(i["Customer Phone"]).ToString("###-###-#### ####") Now its gets messed up when the extension is less than 4 digits. It will fill in the numbers from the right. so 1112224444 333 becomes 11-221-244 3334 Any ideas?
