• WINDOWS 7: Make the contents of two folders appear in one

  In Windows 7, I have three folders: "Images", "assets" and "all". I want the contents of "Images " and "assets" to appear in "all" automatically without copying those files into that folder (e.g. I don't want to duplicate the files). I also only want the contents to be copied over and not the folders themslves (The reason for this is that if the folders are copied over, they will become sub-directories. I am using a printing hot folder that access "all" but it can't see any subdirectories in "all"). When Images and Assets are updated (e.g. with files being added or deleted), "all" should automatically update as well. How can I do this? This is what I have tried: Libraries: This is a feature built into Windows. It works exactly as I want. However, the print hot folder cannot recognise the library as a folder. Sym Link Extension: I can use this to make the "images" and "assets" folders appear as a sub directories of "all". However, I want the contents of "images"/"assets" to appear in the "all" folder (I don't want the directories to appear as sub directories, because as stated, the print hot folder cannot access sub directories).

• I overwrote a large file with a blank one on a linux server. Can I recover the existing file?

  I came back to my machine, tried saving a file over ssh onto my linux server (CentOS). It failed. I wasn't interested in keeping any changes I had made so I closed my editor and reopened the file (over ssh). The save attempt wiped the file. I have made loads of changes to it since I last uploaded to revision control. Seeing as it has just wiped the file I assume the data is still there. It's just a text file (php), is there any way of recovering it?

• I just deleted my backup file! How do I save it?

  I just accidentally deleted a backup file that I need to restore my system. It's an Acronis True Image TIB file. It was stored at H:\My backups and the name of the file was File_backup_2012-10-18.tib. I did a quick scan with Recuva 1.43.623 and it found the file using the recovery wizard, but it was unable to recover it. The "state" of the file is "unrecoverable". So the resulting file is 0 byte. I am trying to do a deep scan with Recuva right now but it takes a lot of time. If it should fail, what other recovery option do I have? Is there any other good file recovery software that's free to use for home users? I do have a second copy of the whole system partition, but I needed this file backup copy because it is more up to date. That's the file, right there! But why is Recuva unable to recover it?

  Hi, On many occasions I have dealt with passing batch files arguments with spaces, quotes, percents, and slashes and all sorts of combinations of them. Usually I managed to figure out how to accomplish what I want, but this time I am stuck. I have tried a couple of hundred combinations now and my head is starting to hurt. I’ve reduced the problem quite nicely. It’s a simple requirement: pass a double-quoted space from one batch file to another. That is, one batch file should pass some string X to another so that the the second one echos " ". I just can’t figure out what X should be. Here is a minimal batch file that demonstrates and attempt that does not work. (This BAT file takes the place of both by calling itself.) ::Goal is to print: ::" " ::That is, to pass a quoted space from a BAT file to a BAT file if not (%1)==() goto recurse %0 "" "" :recurse echo %1 pause It does not work. • Upload file using jquery dialog not working

  i want to upload file using jquery dialog. I have created a partial view and showing that partial view in the dialog. The problem is, when I directly browse the partial view and upload a file, it works perfect. BUT when I put the partial view inside a jquery dialog, it submits the form, but don't submits the file. So i have null value. I really dont understand what is the difference here!! • Logic: Best way to sample & count bytes of a 100MB+ file

  Let's say I have this 170mb file (roughly 180 million bytes). What I need to do is to create a table that lists: all 4096 byte combinations found [column 'bytes'], and the number of times each byte combination appeared in it [column 'occurrences'] Assume two things: I can save data very fast, but I can update my saved data very slow. How should I sample the file and save the needed information? Here're some suggestions that are (extremely) slow: Go through each 4096 byte combinations in the file, save each data, but search the table first for existing combinations and update it's values. this is unbelievably slow Go through each 4096 byte combinations in the file, save until 1 million rows of data in a temporary table. Go through that table and fix the entries (combine repeating byte combinations), then copy to the big table. Repeat going through another 1 million rows of data and repeat the process. this is faster by a bit, but still unbelievably slow This is kind of like taking the statistics of the file. NOTE: I know that sampling the file can generate tons of data (around 22Gb from experience), and I know that any solution posted would take a bit of time to finish.   So im working on learning how to do file I/O, but the book I'm using is terrible at teaching how to receive input from a file. Below is is their example of how to receive input from a file, but it doesn't work. I have copied it word for word, and it should loop through a list of names until it reaches the end of the file( or so they say in the book), but it doesn't.   Im reading in 2 csv file: store_inventory & new_acquisitions... I want to be able to compare the store_inventory csv file with new_acquisitions. 1) If the item names match just update the quantity in store_inventory. 2) If new_acquisitions has a new item that does not exist in store_inventory, then add it to the store_inventory.   i have an uploads folder on my website. What i want to do is restrict users from accessing like i dont want them to go to www.mysite.com/uploads/ and see the files in there and it should show forbidden, but they should be able to download via my website, for example www.mysite.com/downloads.php?id=1 If thats not possible, how can i atleast not show them the directory index on /uploads How is it that file sharing websites does this? An htaccess with deny from all stops php from accessing the file as well Please tell me a solution if you would know, i googled and asked on irc a few days ago about this issue, its pretty confusing to me.

  Is it possible to boot from an iso image file itself. Because when you burn it, it gets extracted. Because in linux you can just place the .iso file in a removable media and boot from it without extracting. Is it possible to make something like that in windows? They have something like this in pendrivelinux but I can't find it anymore. But that boot manager can only install linux. And other live cd's used in cleaning the system.   I'm using MS Office Outlook 2007. I check my "Junk E-mail" folder ~once a month. This time I found that my whole google groups correspondence is there. I right-clicked a message and pressed "Add sender to safe senders list". Hopefully, the future messages to this group will be delivered to my inbox. The problem is with the messages that are already in the junk folder. Is there a way to resort my junk folder automatically, to have e-mails from senders listed on my safe list being recovered from the junk folder and moved to e.g. Inbox folder ? Thanks in advance.

• IIS in VirtualBox serving files from shared Ubuntu folder

  Here's the problem: I want to use Ubuntu. But I need to develop ASP.NET (MVC) sites. So I setup VirtualBox with Win2003 and IIS6. But I would prefer my working files to be located in my Ubuntu home folder. So I setup shared folder in VirtualBox and make IIS6 virtual directory work from there. The problem is, IIS6 can't do this. Whatever I try (mapped drive, network uri path) I get different IIS errors: can't access folder (for mapped drive), can't monitor file system changes (\vboxsvr share path), and so on. Is there a way for IIS6 in virtual machine to configure virtual application folder to be on host machine (Ubuntu) - be it shared folder, mapped drive, smb share, or whatever?

  I'm unable to access a Windows 7 (Windows 7 Pro 64-bit) shared folder from an old Windows 98 box: I tried with: Turning on file and printer sharing Turning on public folder sharing Turning off password protected sharing Sharing the folder with read permissions to Everyone Lowering the encryption to 40-56 bits. The shared folder works fine using it from Windows XP, and even from Linux with CIFS / Samba, but when I try to use it from Win98 with: NET USE X: \\SERVER\SHARE an user / password dialog pops up. I entered the administrator's user / password from my Windows 7 box, but it doesn't work (incorrect password). The same Win98 machine works fine accessing a Windows XP shared folder, so it looks like a Windows 7 networking issue. Any ideas?

For not cluttering email inboxes purposes I now would like to share the content of 1 single private folder by putting it in the public directory. • Media Player Classic creating folder

  Whenever I open a file in Media Player Classic it creates a new folder "Media Player Classic" under the folder of the file I opened. Originally it was putting a playlist in that folder, "default.mpcpl", but I found that if you open the playlist (Ctrl+7) and right-click the playlist, there is an option "Remember items", unchecking that will prevent MPC from creating this playlist. I was hopeful that without the auto-generated playlist MPC would have no reason to create the folder. Wrong. Now the folder is empty, but I still have to follow MPC around deleting all these blank folders. I use Media Player Classic on several of my computers so I think I just screwed up some variable somewhere somehow regarding where it stores playlists or something, but I can't figure out what it is, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling to little avail. Which makes me think it might be in the registry. Does anyone have any ideas?

  I'm trying to run XPDF on a linux (probably red hat) OVH shared server. I've managed to have ftp ssh access and put the 64 bits binaries onto a folder. The problem is : even though the files are there with the right permissions, if I try running it I'm getting a file not found problem (I'm thinking about a missing link..)   I am using wordpress with wp-super-cache plugin. This plugin automatically created a cache folder in my site for storing the cached files. But unusually it created folder with owner/group 99 99. It was created automatically. Due to this, i am not able to delete that folder or change the CHMOD of that folder. This really a headache. I searched google, but none gave me a good answer. Please help me delete or change the CHMOD of that folder ? I am on Linux server.
