    which one is the fastest way to completely copy a table on mysql ? CREATE TABLE copy LIKE original; INSERT INTO copy SELECT * FROM original; or CREATE TABLE copy SELECT * FROM original; ALTER TABLE copy ADD PRIMARY KEY (id); or theres another way ? PS. can't use command-line tools like mysqldump, must be on-the-fly.

  • Scala return type for tuple-functions

    Hello Guys, I want to make a scala function which returns a scala tuple. I can do a function like this: def foo = (1,"hello","world") and this will work fine, but now I want to tell the compiler what I expect to be returned from the function instead of using the built in type inference (after all, I have no idea what a (1,"hello","world") is) I thought I remembered the classname being something like Tuple3[Int,String,String] but that doesnt work for me. Suggestions? :D (ps: I love stack overflow!)

  • Replace an Array with an Array

    I have and NSMutableArray and I want to replace it with another, but if I try to do it like this... firstArray = secondArray; ...then it seems to erase the entire firstArray and I get this error message.. Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '*** -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (0) beyond bounds (0)' ...and the bounds should be (6) not (0). Is there a correct way to replace the array? PS: I already checked the secondArray and it functions fine.

  • How could I generate instances of an object randomly at the top of the screen and make them "fall"?

    I am making a game in Flash CS4 (actionscript 3) and I would like to be able to make "copies" of an instance that would randomly appear at the top of the screen and fall. For example, multiple objects(that are the same one) are falling from the top of the screen continuously, starting at random X positions. (i think this would be considered Real-Time effect).   • Append Results from two queries and output as a single table.

    I have two queries that I have to run, I cannon join them But their resultant tables have the same structrure. For example I have select * from products where producttype=magazine select * from products where producttype = book I have to combine the result of these two queries, and then output it as one single result. I have to do this inside a stored procedure. PS These are just examples I provided, i have a complex table structure. The main thing is I cannot join them.

It seems like sort of an edge case that different backbones or ISPs might intentionally break to reduce router load or generally segment the network for practical high-use applications.   • Why is cakephp form input stored in $this->data and POST data stored in $this->params['form'] ?

    the cakephp rest tutorial says that post data should be in $this-data, but I am finding that it is not, but instead inside $this-params['form'] However, when using cakephp form helper in a view, the data is in $this-data. Am I correct to have to check both locations in my controller? It just seems a bit of a waste of extra code. Shouldnt the data appear in one place for whether it came from a rest rest requestor or Cakephp form post? ps im using cakephp 1.3

    I have used Configuration|Site Information|Default Front Page to designate node/55 as my front page. How can I create a menu linking to the original front page, i.e. the one with the list of articles? If I link to <front> it goes to node/55. P.S.: I have been able to simulate this by enabling the frontpage view, but, if possible, it would be more efficient to just link to the original front page URL.

    Hi, Background: I have a set of java background workers I start as part of my webapp. I develop locally on Ubuntu 10.10 and deploy to an Ubuntu 10.04LTS server (a media temple (ve) instance). They're both running the same JVM: Sun JVM 1.6.0_22-b04. As part of the initialization script each worker is started with explicit Xmx, Xms, and XX:MaxPermGen settings. Yet somehow locally all 10 workers use 250MB, while on the server they use more than 2.7GB. I don't know how to begin to track this down. I thought the Ubuntu (and thus, kernel) version might make a difference, but I tried an old 10.04 VM and it behaves as expected. I've noticed that the machine does not seem to ever use memory for buffer or cache (according to htop), which seems a bit strange, but perhaps normal for a server? In fact, the question now is why, if I add up the virtual memory usage on the server (3.2GB) does it more closely reflect 2.4GB of memory used (according to free), yet locally the virtual memory used adds up to a much more substantial 4.7GB but only actually uses ~250MB.   • Can I add Boost source+header files to my own (Open Source) project?

    Is it allowed by the Boost License to just add the source code of the stuff I need to my project (accompanied by the license of course?). I couldn't find any "descriptive" confirmation. I would have seperate Include/boost and Source/boost directories for easy access. PS: Seeing as boost::filesystem is going into C++0x TR2, and lambda's are already in c++0x TR1, I don't see any reason to be juggling with C functions like realpath, getcwd and the like. They don't work well anyways...
