• php application deployment to redhat [closed]

  I am a .net background person with most of the work with Windows environment and IIS etc. I have been given a task to deploy one php application on RedHat Linux box. All I have is the credentials and the server IP of that box. Can someone help about how to get started creating a new website on Apache 2.0 on redhat box and then putting php code over to that. I do not have physical access to that server as well. I know it's very basis question, but I am in dark for these things. Even if you can point me to some documentation that's fine or else at least the analogy with IIS should also help to certain extent.

• Why does update-grub not find ubuntu 11.10?

  I've recently installed ubuntu onto my laptop. With the intention of dual booting with windows 7. On installation Grub wasn't loading, the computer continued to boot straight into windows. I loaded a live cd, mounted the installed ubuntu partion (sda6) as /mnt/ and windows boot partition as /mnt/boot Following the second option here: http://ubuntuguide.net/how-to-restore-grub-2-after-reinstalling-windows-xpvistawin7 Through its entirety, so creating a new grub.cfg file. chroot /mnt update-grub Did not find ubuntu, just windows 7 and the windows recovery partition. Thinking this might be a weird quirk that as I was in ubuntu (all be it a live cd) it might not list ubuntu I restarted. Grub loaded but ubuntu was nowhere to be seen. How can I add ubuntu with Grub2? I could have fixed this myself in old grub but I'm pretty much in the dark here. Thanks

  I have Ubuntu 11.10. Yesterday I make some distribution updates with Update Manager. And now I can't start my Ubuntu. • google earth 7, 32bit in 12.10 runs without error but there is no image (globe)

  Everything seemed to install fine. I can start google earth and all layers are available, I can even zoom in and look at 3-D buildings. But there is absolutely no image data displayed at all. If you look at the whole globe the outlines are there on an invisible globe. As you zoom in the base looks dark grey almost black but there is no image. I have tried. Tools Options Graphics Safe Mode Tools Options Texture colors all combinations Tools Options Cache (tried several changes to the numbers) lspci shows Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller (rev 03) Running on a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop (1.5Gb memory)

• Problems with the colors on my screen. How can I check if it's a hardware problem?

  On my EEE PC netbook some colors are not displayed properly. Specifically, dark gradients such as in the window title do not look very smooth, but rather look like a sequence of a couple of different colors. This is especially visible when opening a menu, for example the "File" menu in Firefox. As you know this one is black, and it looks terrible on my screen. It is not just black, but the colors look really graded and far from a smooth gradient or anything. Now I am wondering: Is this a hardware or software issue? And how can I check this? If it should be a fixable problem I think it would be worth another question. Note that I am using Natty. If my problem description is not good enough I can try to take a photo.

• Theme changes after resuming from suspend

  I'm using a Dell Inspiron 1520 and Ubuntu 10.10. I've read a lot of questions about graphics problems after resuming from suspend, but most of them are much more serious than mine. I can boot, login and use Ubuntu fine. The problem is that my theme for my top bar and bottom bar changes to gray and blocky (not rounded). Oddly enough, the theme for the title bars of my windows stay the same dark theme. Any ideas how I can fix this? It works fine if I logout and log back in.

• Reboot only shuts down and doesn't actually boot again

  I'm running a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 Server on an abmx rack mount server. When I attempt to reboot with sudo shutdown -r now, the machine just shuts down and doesn't come back up without me manually pressing the power button. The output of last -x, runlevel (to lvl 2) 3.2.0-29-generic Wed Oct 31 14:32 - 14:37 (00:05) reboot system boot 3.2.0-29-generic Wed Oct 31 14:32 - 14:37 (00:05) shutdown system down 3.2.0-29-generic Wed Oct 31 14:30 - 14:32 (00:02) runlevel (to lvl 6) 3.2.0-29-generic Wed Oct 31 14:30 - 14:30 (00:00) This appears to show that the system rebooted, but it went dark (no power lights, BIOS, etc) and I had to go press the power button in order to make it boot back up. The machine does have some sort of Intel Boot Agent that usually appears before the BIOS, I'm wondering if it could be causing this. I'm not sure what information is useful for debugging this, but I put the output of lshw in http://pastebin.com/mBy72kTQ

• My laptop overheat on ubuntu 13.04

  Overheating maybe is exaggerating word, but it's temperature is more in comparison with windows. My Graphic Card has failed for 2 time and I've paid money for each time. The problem makes me disappointed of keeping on ubuntu. Whenever I want to install "nvidia-current" my resolution becomes too low in screen and sometimes it just shows a dark screen. Is there any other Linux distribution which be more compatible with Hardware, specially Graphic Card? My Laptop is Dell Vostro 1510.   I have a hp touchsmart 600 pc series. I tried to install the lastest version of ubuntu (12.04 LTS, 64bits) but it would not install. I popped in the cd and the menu asked for a reboot. Which I did. As ubuntu was about to install(purple background with 2 symbols underneth) the screen was dark and a prompt kept blinking for like over 10 minutes. So I turned off my pc and loaded my window os. I ran ubuntu again and used the help install feature. Needless to say the same thing happen again! does ubuntu work on hp touchsmart computers?

• Visual Studio Setup - why is solution explorer on the right?

  Every time I install VS (whichever version going back years) it installs with the Solution Explorer on the right. Now as most UIs have the navigation in a left hand column (and at the top of the viewport) and the content to the right of this navigation this always seems wrong to me. So I drag the solution explorer to the left of the screen and dock it there. But I've never seen another developer do this. Considering how most programmers usually like to customize their environment, adding their favourite text editor, browser, plug-ins, greasemonkey scripts etc why do Visual Studio developers never seem to make this simple UI change? Does anyone else do this or am I just screaming in the dark?

• Where does UBB store its settings?

  We're moving a UBB forum from one host to another. (This is temporary; we're going to replace the forum eventually, but moving hosts has a higher priority.) We don't have a lot of experience with UBB, so we're feeling our way along in the dark. We got the UBB code installed on the new host, and we've done a dry-run database export from the original site to the new site. However, almost everything set in UBB's Control Panel section didn't come with the database export. If UBB doesn't store this data in the database, where is it stored? And if it is in the database, why would it not show up in a new forum when the database is imported? Did we somehow miss a table?

• Possible / How to render to multiple back buffers, using one as a shader resource when rendering to the other, and vice versa?

  I'm making a game in Direct3D10. For several of my rendering passes, I need to change the behavior of the pass depending on what is already rendered on the back buffer. (For example, I'd like to do some custom blending- when the destination color is dark, do one thing; when it is light, do another). It looks like I'll need to create multiple render targets and render back and forth between them. What's the best way to do this? Create my own render textures, use them, and then copy the final result into the back buffer. Create multiple back buffers, render between them, and then present the last one that was rendered to. Create one render texture, and one back buffer, render between them, and just ensure that the back buffer is the final target rendered to I'm not sure which of these is possible, and if there are any performance issues that aren't obvious. Clearly my preference would be to have 2 rather than 3 default render targets, if possible.

• All tweak settings not saving?

  I am running Ubuntu GNOME 14.04. After the last 2 updates, all settings in the Tweak menu are no saving. It will also not switch to the Gnome Dark theme at all. This includes all Startup Application changes as well as any changes to Extension settings. I'm not sure if I need to include any sort of log records or anything like that, so if you need any more information please ask. I've noticed the default fonts seem to be different. I don't remember that being part of the theme settings. It's almost like I'm running in Safe Mode.

This option brings in a complimentary color in various shades along with the main color that you select on the color wheel. You also have the option of specifying various adjustments to the schema. You can make it pastel, more contrast, less contrast, gray tones, etc. You can also view a preview page as a light page or a dark page to see how the colors might be applied.  Once you have everything the way you want it, you can switch over to the final tab and get the color list. Now none of us have an excuse for questionable color combinations.

I want to implemented a day night cycle and during the night I would like the player to be able to position lights. I would like to be able to lighten and dark to whole map to display the day and night cycle. • Ubuntu 10.10 screen goes nuts and unreadable

  Running Ubuntu 10.10 in its own partition, also have Oracle Virtualbox 4 with Windows XP. Because i previously had a problem with a dark screen when i let the laptop on and i didn't use it for a long while i had set Power settings to Never sleep, never let the Display sleep. Monitor on install set to Laptop resolution 1400 by 1050, refresh rate 60 Hz, rotation Normal. The problem was when the computer was left on and i returned after about an hour, the screen was unreadable, similar to what used to happen to graphics cards before multisync became normal. So it appears as though the graphics card was asked to use a resolution it couldn't handle and went nuts. I had to power off the system, on restart everything was fine. Thanks for any suggestions. • Huge 2d pixelized world

  I would like to make a game field in a indie-strategic 2d game to be some a-like this popular picture. http://0.static.wix.com/media/6a83ae_cd307e45ffd9c6b145237263ac1a86be.jpg_1024 So every "pixel"(blocks) changes it's color slowly, sometimes a bright color wave happens, etc, but the spaces beetwen this pixels should stay dark (not to count shades, lightning and other 3rd party stuff going on). Units are going to be same "pixelized" and should position them-selfs according those blocks. I have some experience in game-developing, but this task seems not trivial for me. What approaches (shader, tons of sprites or code-render, i don't now) would you recommend me to follow? (I'm thinking of making this game using Unity Engine) Thanks everyone! :)
