  • WPF - Have a list source defined at runtime but still have sample data for design time

    I have some ListBoxes in my WPF app. I would like to be able to view how the design looks with out having to run the app. But I still want to be able to bind to ItemsSource to my View Model. I know I saw a blog post on how to do this, but I cannot seem to find it now. To reiterate, I want dummy data at design time, but real data at run time and not break the MVVM pattern. Any ideas?

    I just started a new project and my boss wants us to change IDE from NetBeans to Eclipse, RichFaces to Flex. I have never worked with Eclipse and Flex before. Today I tried to make hello word with it on Eclipse but had no luck.   • How would you answer Joel's sample programming questions?

    I recently interviewed a candidate for a new position here. I wish though that I'd read Joel's Guerrilla Guide to Interviewing prior to that interview - naturally I happened upon it the night afterwards :P http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/GuerrillaInterviewing3.html So I tried answering the easy questions myself - yeah I used the python interpreter to type stuff in and tested the results a bit - I didn't look up any solutions beforehand though and I also thought about how long it took me to come up with answers for each one and what I'd look for the next time I interview someone. I'd let them type stuff into the interpreter and see how did used python's introspection capabilities too to find out things like what's the re module's method for building a regex etc. Here are my answers - these are in python of course - what are yours in your favourite language? Do you see any issues with the answers I came up with - i.e. how could they be improved upon - what did I miss?     I tried to build the ceplayit files (of directshow player samples). I added them to a smart device project based on the sdk for my device (named TEMP). I am using MFC in visual Studio 2005.   • Bug in the official Android Fragments training sample?

    It seems to me that there must be a bug in the Android Fragments demo. As background, Fragments are apparently sometimes instantiated by the Android OS and thus need a public no-arg constructor: All subclasses of Fragment must include a public empty constructor. The framework will often re-instantiate a fragment class when needed, in particular during state restore, and needs to be able to find this constructor to instantiate it. If the empty constructor is not available, a runtime exception will occur in some cases during state restore. But the NewsReader demo from the official Android training on Fragments constructs the HeadlinesFragment class and configures it with setOnHeadlineSelectedListener(this) from NewsReaderActivity.onCreate(). If the Android OS re-instantiates this fragment, the mHeadlineSelectedListener field will be null because HeadlinesFragment doesn't save or restore its state. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

  • Log4cxx sample program and steps to compile

    Hi guys Hoping someone can help out.. I've been scouring the net for a simple how-to to get a good log4cxx program working, with steps on setting up the libraries, dependants, directives, library paths etc etc.. as of yet i've found a lot of valuable but disjointed information.. trying to pull it all together has been a bit of a nightmare, so i'm reaching out and wondering if any kind soul knows of, or could put together a simple how-to, to get a standard win32 console app running with either static or dynamically linked release mode log4cxx.. I have win32 binary releases of the libraries, and thanks to a very cool dude from "Must a blog have a name" I have a win32 project which can build log4cxx.. i just cant bloody use it :) It would be really helpful to me, and probably to others, to be able to refer to something like this and not 20 different pages, with different lists of libraries needed to download and install.. :) Here's hoping Thanks guys J

    Hello, I've got a sql statement, but I can't get it working in linq. Can someone show me how I can write the following sql statement as linq? SELECT * FROM mobileApplication LEFT JOIN videoMobile ON mobileApplication.id = videoMobile.mobileApplicationId AND videoMobile.videoId = 257 It's a left join with a where statement on the right table. It works in sql server 2005, but I'd like to write it in linq.

  • Database storage for high sample rate data in web app

    I've got multiple sensors feeding data to my web app. Each channel is 5 samples per second and the data gets uploaded bundled together in 1 minute json messages (containing 300 samples). The data will be graphed using flot at multiple zoom levels from 1 day to 1 minute. I'm using Amazon SimpleDB and I'm currently storing the data in the 1 minute chunks that I receive it in. This works well for high zoom levels, but for full days there will be simply be too many rows to retrieve. The idea I've currently got is that every hour I can crawl through the data and collect together 300 samples for the last hour and store them in an hour Domain (table if you like). Does this sound like a reasonable solution? How have others implemented the same sort of systems?

  • ASP.Net MVC DotNetOpenAuth Sample Issue on publish

    I'm trying to use the MSDN Open ID project template for ASP.NET MVC C#. I've been able to configure a local copy to run well. But when I publish it to my hosting provider - it craps out. The error is "500 internal server error". Is there something I should know about publishing this template that I haven't noticed? Here are some more details (for diligence): Hosting provider is GoDaddy/SQL2005/IIS7. When I configure & publish the blank MVC template, it works. The local database publishes successfully, but I haven't been able to troubleshoot the connection in web.config yet. I expect there are connection string problems in the file. I tried disabling all of the references to log4net, as it seemed to be invoked several times on startup. But those changes did not seem to make a difference in either the local or published application performance. My IDE is Visual Studio 2010 Pro Any help would be greatly appreciated!
