  • jQuery text attribute selector

    I am trying to use the text attribute as a selector, but I can't quite grasp the behaviour, would really appreciate if someone could explain. For example given <span class="span_class"><a class="a_class">text</a></span>, $('a.a_class').text() gives "text" as expected. However $('a.a_class[text]') wouldn't match any elements, and neither would $('span.span_class > a.a_class[text]'), but $('span.span_class* > a.a_class[text]') would (although not in IE). The only workaround I can think of for IE, is loop through all anchors contained in a span, use .text() on each and match it against a certain criteria, but it seems slower than using in-built selectors. Anyone have better ideas?

  • Find all html characters in drop-down option text and replace them via jQuery

    I have a dropdown menu that pulls in text from a database column. The database column can include HTML mark-up. In the drop-down I obviously don't need that in the text. I am working on some jquery and it partially accomplished what I'm looking for.   • column formatting in flash 8 datagrid

    I have a datagrid in flash 8 that has an array as a data provider. One of the items in the array is a number, which represents an amount of money. So I iterate through the array and create a new item "amountFormatted" in each line of the array. For example I have a value of 10 and a formatted value of £10.00 in the array. This formatted value then appears in the datagrid. This seems a little cumbersome and I wondered if there was a way to set some automatic function so that the column in the datagrid is automatically formatted. a bit like an excel column can have formatting applied to it. I hope that is clear, thanks for any response.

    I am having some trouble with using h:selectOneRadio. I have a list of objects which is being returned which needs to be displayed. I am trying something like this: <h:selectOneRadio id="selectPlan" layout="pageDirection"> <f:selectItems value="#{detailsHandler.planList}" /> </h:selectOneRadio> and planList is a List of Plans. Plan is defined as: public class Plan { protected String id; protected String partNumber; protected String shortName; protected String price; protected boolean isService; protected boolean isOption; //With all getters/setters } The text that must appear for each radio button is actually in a properties file, and I need to insert params in the text to fill out some value in the bean. For example the text in my properties file is: plan_price=The price of this plan is {0}. I was hoping to do something like this: <f:selectItems value="<h:outputFormat value="#{i18n.plan_price}"> <f:param value="#{planHandler.price}"> </h:outputFormat>" /> Usually if it's not a h:selectOneRadio component, if it's just text I use the h:outputFormat along with f:param tags to display the messages in my .property file called i18n above, and insert a param which is in the backing bean. here this does not work. Does anyone have any ideas how I can deal with this? I am being returned a list of Plans each with their own prices and the text to be displayed is held in property file. Any help much appreciated.     I use this code to make my UITableViewCells cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleValue2 reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; If you're unfamiliar with UITableViewCellStyleValue2, the main text is shown, and then the detail text is shown after it, generally in a different color. However, when I do this, my main text is truncated, if it is longer than a short word. I want to force it to not truncate the main text and show the entire main text, and then the detail text after it. How can I do that?

    Good morning all. I have a div that I'm able to save text to when I click a save button but what I would like is if the text would just automatically save on an onmouseout event. For example: I have a div and two buttons (Save and Cancel). The user is currently able to mouse over the current text data inside the div, click on the text and they can then edit said text. The only way they can save this text is by clicking the save button. Is there a way to use onmouseout to save the text so that the user simply has to click and edit the text, then click away and have it saved? Thanks!

    After seeing several threads rubbishing the regexp method of finding a term to match within an HTML document, I've used the Simple HTML DOM PHP parser (http://simplehtmldom.sourceforge.net/) to get the bits of text I'm after, but I want to know if my code is optimal. It feels like I'm looping too many times. Is there a way to optimise the following loop? //Get the HTML and look at the text nodes $html = str_get_html($buffer); //First we match the <body> tag as we don't want to change the <head> items foreach($html->find('body') as $body) { //Then we get the text nodes, rather than any HTML foreach($body->find('text') as $text) { //Then we match each term foreach ($terms as $term) { //Match to the terms within the text nodes $text->outertext = str_replace($term, '<span class="highlight">'.$term.'</span>', $text->outertext); } } } For example, would it make a difference to determine check if I have any matches before I start the loop maybe?

    I noticed that .NET framework uses formatting functions, generated the same way localizable string are. There is a resource file Resources.resx with resource string TestString. So you may use it in code like this: string localizableValue = Resources.TestString; Now, imagine you need a formattable localizable string, to use it in string.Format function. So everytime you use it, you have to write something like this: string localizableFormattedValue = string.Format(Resources.TestFormatString, someParam1, someParam2); The observation says that in .NET framework generated resource classes already include the above construction. So instead of string property, a string function is generated. The resulting code looks like this: string localizableFormattedValue = Resources.TestFormatString(someParam1, someParam2); The question is - how do they do this? Is it some custom Microsoft feature (resx generator) or I'm missing something obvious?

    I have a textbox in which the user can edit text, in a scripting language. I've figured out how to let the user comment out lines in one click, but can't seem to figure out how to uncomment properly. For example, if the box has: Normal Text is here More normal text -- Commented text -- More commented text Normal Text again --Commented Text Again So, when the user selects any amount of text and decides to uncomment, the "--" is removed from the beginning of the lines that have it. The lines without the "--" should be unaffected. In short, I want an uncomment function that performs similar to the one in Visual Studio. Is there any way to accomplish this? Thanks

    Hello, I feel like I'm trying to do something simple but I am not getting the result I want. I want to display a basic number, that will always be positive. I do not want any leading zeros but I want thousands separators. For instance, for the following inputs, I want the following outputs: 3 -> 3 30 -> 30 300 -> 300 3000 -> 3,000 30000 -> 30,000 300000 -> 300,000 Currently, in an attempt to do this, I'm using the following formatting code: string text = "*Based on " + String.Format("{0:0,0}", total) + " entries"; Currently, the output looks like this: 3 -> 03 3000 -> 3,000 You can see how a leading "0" is added when the thousands separator is not necessary. How do I properly format my numbers? Thank you

    I have taken a look at Gtk Theme change menu bar hover color but it doesn't seem to work on 12.04, nor can I find those lines in 12.04. My menus look like the below when hovered over for some applications such as Eclipse, Pidgin, LibreOffice etc. Where as it looks much better on Nautilus and a few others.
