• How can I make results of a formula values that can be filtered or use vlookup with Excel

  I am having an issue in that I am using various formulas to move, split data, etc from various sources. The problem is when my final results post to the final destination that I want, I still need to either run advanced filters, or a vlookup with the results. I can’t do this because as an example if cell A1 shows a value of: A127 the actual cell content is: =RIGHT(A2,FIND(" ",A2&" ")-2) Everything I read said to copy and paste special values, but this doesn’t work for me as the idea is to have the formulas/macros run everything and eliminating cutting and pasting. In the case above I have a formula that pulls that info from a spreadsheet that is saved every week. Once it is pulled part of it is cut out in another column. I then need to run a vlookup on those results for data already contained on another tab.

• Importing CSV files into Excel using a macro

  I'm want to develop a macro where in my excel worksheet I type a date in a specific cell, and the macro will go into a folder containing text files. A database you could say. I want it to find the corresponding file name which is written as a date, put the data through a delimeter, and paste into the cells directly below where I orginally put the date. I'm very new with Macro's so if you must answer try to be a little more simple than you might usually be. Thanks In Advance if anyone can Help!! Update The folder will always be in the same place and the text files will all be formatted DD_MM_YYYY. • How do you set up DNS in Window Server 2008 in a Hyper-V environment?

  I have a laptop running Server 2008 and Hyper-V. I have created a virtual machine that is also running Server 2008, that I used dcpromo to create as a domain controller. I disabled IPv6 because I had no idea how to enter a default address, and I just wanted to make a standalone MOSS dev environment. I have tried every combination of creating a virtual network on the host and then connecting to that in the VM, but I can't get the VM to communicate with the host and vice versa. No pinging, no copy and paste, nothing. Thanks. To update: My VM (which is its own DC) currently does not have a static IP. When I set the IP to static, I could not find anything that would let it talk to the host machine.

  I'd like to create a settings file for my logman command. I expect to have lots of perfmon counters. Is there any easy way to get all the perfmon counters' exact text anywhere? The only thing I thought of was to create a Perfmon Counter Log through the GUI and then export the list of selected counters--but I don't see an export option! I guess I could manually copy what I see on the screen, but that seems inefficient. I'm going to be dealing with tens of counters. Maybe there is a list somewhere? That'd be easier to copy and paste from.

  We are setting up an online payment facility using a payment gateway. After the payment gateway finishes processing the credit card details for a payment, the user is redirected to a "403 Forbidden" page. The logs show: [MY_IP_ADDRESS_HERE] - - [SOME_DATE_HERE] "GET /POSTBACK_URL.php?txnid=1338434567&result=failure&reason=The+remote+server+returned+an+error%3a+(404)+Not+Found.&digest=7a115270c56df5945c43ad86e56b2e930a3cfd50 HTTP/1.1" 404 - "PAYMENT_GATEWAY_URL_HERE" "BROWSER_DETAILS_HERE" It means that when the PAYMENT_GATEWAY_URL attempts to open our POSTBACK_URL, it gets a 404 error, is that correct? But why does the page say "403 Forbidden"? Anyway, we tried to copy-paste that same URL into the browser window, and the page is opened successfully, with our programmed error notification message. So, why couldn't it be opened when the payment gateway tried to redirect to it, but we could? Is this some sort of permissions issue? If so, the postback URL's file permissions are already 755. What am I missing?

  Recently I was doing web design. I found that the current web design tool (like Expression Web, Dreamweaver) is terribly coupled with code. Though I managed to use HTML, CSS and many others, I found those tool not free enough when came to design. What I want is a totaly code-free design tool with which I can use to draw the layout, paste pictures, add texts and so on. It doesn't need to have functionality to covert the design into code because I can do it myself. That is to say, I need the software to create a blueprint for me. I'm currently using Photoshop to do this. However it is too stupid in displying the layout (It can't show the width and many other attributes, I had to draw them by myself). Can you find one for me? • keymapping when ssh-ing from mac to linux

  I'm using Lion to ssh -X to a linux machine and work on some code thats located on it. I open up an editor on the remote machine (usually matlab) and program on it. My problem is that in the linux there is no concept of the command key. So if I want to copy some text from a local window to the editor that runs on the remote, I need to to command-c to copy, and then control-v to paste. This obviously drives me nuts. I was wondering if there is a way to change the keymapping such that the command key will be recognized as a control key on the remote processes. Or is this something I need to change on my local (mac) X configuration?

• How to share malicious source code?

  I have a client whose site (not one i developed) is infected by a trojan/malicious code. I have asked him to send me the dirty files in a zip but either gmail or unzipping is blocking them. I've tried text files and word files, and i'm suspecting many different file types will be blocked the same way, either by my mail client, anti-malware software, browser etc. (which is normal). Do you know a way he could share those lines so i can read them and do some research about the malicious source code? An image/screenshot of his text editor would be an idea but the files are long + i'd prefer to be able to copy/paste from them. Thank you!

  After a copy/paste mishap in Microsoft Word 2007, I ended up with text looking like this: This line breaks up here continues here, and so on here, when it should all be in a single line without all the random whitespace. I confirmed that there are paragraph separators and extra whitespace between each line - probably due to hard-coded newlines in the original source. Is there a (preferrably easy) way to merge paragraphs in Microsoft Word? Is there a way to re-format a paragraph so that extraneous whitespace is removed? I can change the flush style, but the whitespace remains. I (obviously?) do not have any experience with Word, being more of a TeX person, but I have been searching Google and crawling the menus for a few hours and I have yet to find a solution...

• telnet - is there a maximum line limit?

  I am working on several servers that use HTTP for transport of commands. What I have encountered is that some of the commands I am trying to issue by hand are very long GETs, several lines, and that when I telnet from my Mac to my Solaris system, I cannot seem to cut and paste the line successfully. I get a couple bounching sounds (which I assume is a control-g - bell) and then it never pastes everything. From trying to break it up into smaller pieces, I am getting the impression that TELNET, or my bundled telnet client or server has a maximum line length that I had never bumped into. I did some googling and superusering, but did not find anything definitive.

• cleaning up pdftotext font issues

  I'm using pdftotext to make an ASCII version of a PDF document (made with LaTeX), because collaborators prefer a simple document in MS word. The plain text version I see looks good, but upon closer inspection the f character seems to be frequently mis-converted depending on what characters follow. For example, fi and fl often seem to become one special character, which I will try to paste here: ? and ?. What is the best way to clean up the output of pdftotext? I am thinking sed might be the right tool, but am not sure how to detect these special characters.

• Is there a method to export the URLs of the open tabs of a Firefox window?

  If I have a Firefox window open that contains 10 tabs, is there a way in Firefox or by a plug-in to get the URLs of those 10 tabs as a text file or some other format? Right now if I want to do this I need to copy the URL of tab A, paste it somewhere, move to tab B, and repeat. I could also bookmark all the tabs into a folder and export that, but that seems like such a hassle. If there is no such method, could someone point me to some documents that describe the basics of writing a Firefox plug-in. I am willing to write this myself if there is no "standard" way.

  i accidentally deleted the recovery folder on the recovery partition (win vista home) i think it was some sort of scheduled maintenance of some program that i did not configure properly? oops... lol i called toshiba and they said i needed to buy a recovery program, which i didnt bother doing. I bought a legal copy of vista and would like to install the correct files and in a way that when my computer starts looking for files it will eventually find them or i can point to the partition. i'm pretty sure it's not a matter of copy and paste (is it?) thanks Paul

• Why does VNC eat certain characters?

  I often use VNC to connect to my desktop upstairs using a laptop downstairs over my home network. I tunnel the VNC connection via SSH. The problem I keep running into is that I'll attempt to type a ! or a : or even a captial A and it will come across the wire as a 1, ;, or a respectively. Is this something I can fix? It's really REALLY annoying while one is programming to have to pop open character map and find a colon and copy/paste it in each time. Running Ubuntu 10.04 upstairs, Linux Mint 10 downstairs.

  A Shining Example: Inside all of my task sequences I have a group that installs driver packages conditionally based on computer model: And of course, this list does nothing but grow. The fact that it grows isn't a big deal, what is a big deal is that every time it changes I have to manually copy and paste those changes across every task sequence I have, which of course leaves huge room for human error. The same goes for other groups of tasks that are common across task sequences. Looking for a solution where I could centrally manage these tasks, be it link other task sequences to a group within another task sequence, or create a separate task sequence and link to that. I came across a solution by John Marcum (SCCM MVP) that mentioned this ability, but this was a while ago and I can't find the link to it anymore to see if it's even still being updated/maintained, but I'm looking for more of a free solution, or even using Powershell or the ConfigMgr SDK is fine with me, I'm no stranger to either. • Solid Edge ST6 - 2D Modeling: dimensions

  I'm currently making some 2D drawings in Solid Edge ST6. I have several circles which I need to change so that they have an equal diameter and equal space between both circles, etc... Currently my drawing looks a bit messy with all the dimensions that I use: I use the Smart Dimension tool and the Distance Between tool but I have no clue to make my drawing more readable by adding less dimensions. Is there a way to copy/paste dimensions or let a circle follow the dimensions of one other circle? I hope you understand the question. • Need Help Debugging BSOD

  For the last few days I've been getting a BSOD at least once a day. Apparently the crash has been caused by ntkrpamp.exe and searching on google has revealed that the issue seems to be related to bad RAM. I have run memtest and my RAM modules have no errors on them. I'm pretty sure the issue is related to drivers, but I can't figure out which one. I'm not an expert in interpreting the output of windbg so any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Here is my analysis with WinDbg. It was too long to paste it here. One strange thing i noticed is that my Windows XP is in Spanish (SP3) and ntkrpamp.exe copyright info seems to be in portuguese. Not sure if that could be an issue, perhaps i have the wrong ntkrpamp.exe... Thanks a lot in advance

  If you're looking for MSN and / or Windows, just go here. I'm looking for Real-Time chat translation tools for Mac, and preferably using Adium, but it could be for Skype, iChat or maybe another option if it's really good. So far I could only easily find a plugin for Adium, simply called translator, that uses google, dicts and babelfish, but you have to type commands in and paste the words or sentences, and it's currently not even working on Snow Leopard. Even if it did, it's still not quite as automatic as we'd expect (or see in other platforms as indicated). So I'm just citing it as an example of a bad solution.

  I am wondering about my VPS providers ubuntu terminal. Are all these terminals the same? I think they are so user-UN-friendly. I can't copy-paste into the terminal, when I try opening textfiles, I can't scroll up and down easily. I cant save easily. Nothing is easy... Is it always like this with Ubuntu? Is there any way to make it easier? I use windows but I login to my vps provider with login details and then simply click "terminal" to open the terminal. Please help me out here

  CPU fan is making noise ...i figured out reasons: Cable is hitting the fan causing a vibration. And may be also CPU fan is loose causing vibration... suggest options... i cleaned the fan ...but found that there is no heatsink compound /paste between processor and the fan..is it ok ..should i apply heat sink compound. How to correct the cable vibration... My processor is p4 2.4 ghz motherboard intel 845gvsr if i have to buy new fan ..which brand should i go for ..and estimated cost ?!

  Sometimes when I make some research, I gather data that should be presented in bullet points, preferably in a single cell (as it is kind of data I would not process in any way in the future). I am looking for a way to make it readable for other people using the spreadsheet (on the screen, as well as when they print the spreadsheet). I would like to make something like that: ———————————————————— | * bullet point 1 | | * bullet point 2 | | * bullet point 3 | ———————————————————— So far the only solution is to edit something presented above in a text editor and then paste it to Excel (as I cannot really make bullet points in a single cell). Is there any better solution?
