  • NHibernate (or other worth recommendation ORM), real life example?

    I'd like to learn database applications in C# and I'm about to select some framework. I heard many recommendations of NHibernate, however I haven't decided yet. Anyway, I'd like to know if there's any real-life example (with sources) of NHibernate in C#, to learn best practices etc.? I know all of them are probably covered in the docs, but working example helps a lot understanding the proper development pattern.

    Since there isn't respositories for value objects. How can I load all value objects? Suppose we are modeling a blog application and we have this classes: Post (Entity) Comment (Value object) Tag (Value object) PostsRespository (Respository) I Know that when I save a new post, its tags are saving with it in the same table. But how could I load all tags of all posts. Has PostsRespository got a method to load all tags? I usually do it, but I want to know others opinions

  • How do I calculate the average direction of two vectors

    Hi, I am writing and opengl based iphone app and would like to allow a user to translate around a view based on the direction that they move two fingers on the screen. For one finger I know I could just calculate the vector from the start position to the current position of the users finger and then find the unit vector of this to get just the direction, but I don't know how I would do this for two fingers, I don't think adding the components of the vectors and calculating the average would work so I'm pretty much stuck... thanks in advance

    I have a ListActivity and I want to implement context menu for each of the list elements. I know that the common way to do this is to show the context menu on long click/tap. I want to know if there is a way to show the context menu for each element on a key press(preferably the menu key). To rephrase my question, how can I trigger the context menu and not the options menu by pressing the menu key(or any other key).

    Sorry, I don't know where to open this subject. This is not the first time we have faced with a massive DDOS attack from one of servers in RedStation.com and even after we had contacted with their abuse department with it's log there is no cooperation and they don't even like to bother themselves about it. and we don't know how to stop such activity. Do you know how to file complaint against this datacenter? we could not be patient anymore and see they are not care about such things on their network ? it seems like they are heaven for attackers now since they close their eyes to gain more money. I guess some global organization is missing in this matter to investigate such activity and make sure providers are responsible for their services.     The title is obvious, I need to know if methods are serialized along with object instances in C#, I know that they don't in Java but I'm a little new to C#. If they don't, do I have to put the original class with the byte stream(serialized object) in one package when sending it to another PC? Can the original class be like a DLL file?

They've never really caused me major problems (although I first learned about them back in the Neolithic).   • iOS - How to iterate through list of files on website directory

    On iOS, I am looking for the proper way to return the URLs for a list of files that are in a directory. /images 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg ... I know the URL for the directory and know all the files in the directory will be of type jpeg. It is not clear to me how to properly format the NSURLRequest to return the list of files in the images directory. Once the list is returned, I will iterate through it to return the individual images.

    I seem to have two options on how to implement arrays, and I want to know which I should go with: Use the ARRAY data type and (from what I understand) effectively serialize data objects into the database (which in my case are just wrapped primitive types; don't know of another way to make this work). Use a separate table and map with foreign keys for each array item. If you have experience with this (especially with H2), which would you recommend?

    Do anyone knows any kind of apps or services for "taking care of servers"? (besides managed servers) There are hundreds of ways your server or application can stop working properly. Small things are easy to miss but usually easy to fix. Log overgrouth, configuration issues, etc. Of course there are best practice checklists, but its not a human task to check configuration best practices. Im sure it can be automated: some kind of agent can monitor all system settings, say what is right and wrong and give suggestions on how to make it right. I have to admin several servers and I need some kind of overview of overall situation. As well as a tool, that will fix problems automatically. Can you people suggest something? (I know its a little bit out of rules of SF, but I think this particular question is quite specific) It would be great to have something like http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1451319/asp-net-mvc-view-engine-comparison but for automation software.

  • Problems with starting windows service on windows xp SP3

    I'm currently facing a problem which I can not resolve and I really don't know what to do anymore. When I'm trying to start the service I receive the message: "The service is started but again also stopped, this because that some of the services will stop if they have nothing to do, for example the performance logs and the alerts service". I've looked into the Windows Logs but nothing is written there which could describe why my service is all the time stopping. I've also tried to fire the windows service via the command prompt which gives me the message: "The service is not started, but the service didn't return any faults.". I've tried to remove all keys which references to my service, which didn't resolve the issue. I've searched on google (maybe not good enough) to find an answer but I didn't found any. I did found some websites which describes what I could do, but all of these suggestions didn't work. This is kinda ** because I do not know where to look. I do not have any error message, i do not have any id which i can use to search on. I really don't know where to start and I hope you guys can help me on this one. Detailed explanation about the windows service OS: Windows XP SP3 .Net Framework: .Net 4.0 Client Profile Language: C# Development environment: Visual Studio 2010 Professional (but Visual Studio 2012 RC is installed) Communications: WCF (Named Pipes), WCF (BasicHTTPBinding) Named Pipes: I have chosen for this solution because I wanted to communicate from a windows service to a windows form application. It worked now for quite some time but suddenly my windows service shuts it self down and I couldn't restart it anymore. There are two named pipes services implemented: An event service which will send any notification to the windows form application and an management service which gives my windows form application the possibility to maintain my windows service. BasicHTTPBinding: The basic http binding makes the connection to a central server. This connection is then used for streaming information from the client to the server. I do not know which additional information you will need, but if you guys need something then I'll try to give it as detailed as possible. Thank you in advance.

I know that it's a special case of a tree, where each brance contains exactly 8 other leaves/branches. I've been searching everywhere for something on how to fully make a navigation-based iphone app, but all I've found is how to set up table views or navigation controllers. I haven't found anything on how to create a data model (something simple from arrays and dictionaries, SQLite and CoreData are a bit out of my scope) or navigate it.
