  I'm a bit confused by the results of the following function: int main() { string command; while(1) { cin >> command; if(command == "end") return 0; else cout << "Could you repeat the command?" << endl; } return 0; } First of all - the output line ("could you...") repeats once for each individual word in the input (stored in command). So far as I can see, it should only be possible for it to happen once for each instance of the loop. Also, when the line 'if(command == "end")' is changed to 'if(command == "that's all")' it never triggers. A little testing suggested that all of the whitespace was removed from the command. Could someone explain to me what's going on here? Thanks

• is it a bad idea to load into memory 160000 variables in a php script?

  im processing a large file with sentences, i only care about the lines that have english or japanese, so while im reading the file, if i find english or japanese sentence, i want to just save it in an array and after finished reading, open another file for writting and output all the sentences in the array. this would result in me setting about 160,000 variables. all strings, some short some long. just wondering if its a bad idea to for memeory to set so many values? example line from the file: "1978033 jpn ?????????????????????"

• Setting language/culture for reporting services report rendered through C#

  I have written a report renderer in C# that runs and attaches reports to an email. This is all working great, except the date format of the parameters are incorrect when listed in the report title. All the reports have their language set to =User!Language and the parameters are output using the FormatDateTime function to format according to the user's regional settings. I am basically using the rendering method described here on MSDN. This all works great when the reports are run through the browser. However, when I render the report from C# it uses en-US date format. The report server's regional settings are set appropriately to the correct region as are the regional settings of the computer the C# progam is running on.. What property do I need to set in my C# program for the report to be rendered using my appropriate language/culture?

Notice they are in incorrect order, to get my point across. Inside check_blocked I got: global $blocked; $blocked = '1234'; I want to echo $blocked variable, that are inside check_blocked(). It doesnt work, no output.. This is an example of my original problem, so please dont say that I could just have the echo inside the function, as I cannot have in my original code.

• C++ vector that *doesn't* initialize its members?

  I'm making a C++ wrapper for a piece of C code that returns a large array, and so I've tried to return the data in a vector<unsigned char>. Now the problem is, the data is on the order of megabytes, and vector unnecessarily initializes its storage, which essentially turns out to cut down my speed by half. How do I prevent this? Or, if it's not possible -- is there some other STL container that would avoid such needless work? Or must I end up making my own container? (Pre-C++11) Note: I'm passing the vector as my output buffer. I'm not copying the data from elsewhere.

  I'm having an issue with creating a submodule in my project. If I create the submodule directly in the repository root, everything works fine. If the submodule is any deeper, the repository does not get cloned. For example, this works as expected: git submodule add git://someproject.com/.git someproject However, when I run the following command, the project is added to .gitmodules and an empty repository is created, but no code is pulled down (even after a git submodule update --init).   Does CodeIgniter provide a Debug Mode, for example, when accessing an Invalid URL? Ruby on Rails does show debugging Messages when a incorrect URL has been given, and the controller is unable to resolve it using the routes map. How would I enable such debugging messages in CodeIgniter? The profiler ... $this->output->enable_profiler(TRUE); ... only affects single classes, but not all routes. So debugging without an actual debugger mode is a little... difficult. :-)

  I'm currently writing up a function in order to validate a URL by exploding it into different parts and matching those parts with strings I've defined. What I would like to do check each part of the URL, starting with $tnet_2, and if it fails one of the checks ($tnet_2, $tnet_3, $tnet_5 or $tnet_7), output that it fails, and break out of the if statement. Is there an easy way to accomplish this using some of the code I have already?

Is it compiler-specific? e.g. sprintf() - will it crop the result string at the NULL? What length will it return? Will printf() output the whole format string or just up to the new NULL?   I'm trying to install .NET 3.5 on my Windows 8 box and it keeps throwing Error 0x800f0922 at me. From what I've read on answers.microsoft.com and StackOverflow I gather the easiest way to fix this is to perform a system refresh, however this will remove all software I've installed from discs. I've just moved house, so I'd rather not do that as I don't know where all the installation media actually are for a lot of my software, so if possible I'd prefer to track down where the problem is actually occurring. (Also, I have a LOT of software installed. It'd take me a long time to reinstall it all, and I unfortunately haven't got that time.) The on-demand error screen sends me to KB2734782 (can't link it as I'm <10 rep), which doesn't help much.
