• Problem in JSF2 with client-side state saving and serialization

  I have a problem in JSF2 with client side state saving and serialization. I have created a page with a full description and a small class diagram: http://tinyurl.com/jsf2serial. For the client-side state saving I have to implement Serializable at the classes Search, BackingBean and Connection.   I've upgraded a solution to use MSBuild 4.0. To resolve this, install the SDK or Targeting Pack for this framework version or retarget your application to a version of the framework for which you have the SDK or Targeting Pack installed. Note that assemblies will be resolved from the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) and will be used in place of reference assemblies.   I'm currently setting up WordPress on an Ubuntu server 12 everything runs fine but there is an issue when it comes to automatically updating and uploading media via WP as Apache "www-data" user does not have permissions to write to the directories. "user1" has full permission All my directories have permissions of 0755 and files 644 my directories setup is as follows: /home/user1/public_html All WP files and directories are in "public_html" In order to work around the auto updating and uploading media I've granted Apache user ownership to the following directories sudo chown www-data:www-data wp-content -R sudo chown www-data:www-data wp-includes -R sudo chown www-data:www-data wp-admin -R I would like to know security wise how secure this is and if it is not secure what would be the best solution? That will allow me to keep all files and directories owned by user1 and still allow wp to be able to automatically update and uploading media

• How do I pass data from a BroadcastReceiver through to an Activity being started?

  I've got an Android application which needs to be woken up sporadically throughout the day. To do this, I'm using the AlarmManager to set up a PendingIntent and have this trigger a BroadcastReceiver. This BroadcastReceiver then starts an Activity to bring the UI to the foreground. All of the above seems to work, in that the Activity launches itself correctly; but I'd like the BroadcastReceiver to notify the Activity that it was started by the alarm (as opposed to being started by the user). To do this I'm trying, from the onReceive() method of the BroadcastReceiver to set a variable in the extras bundle of the intent, thus: Intent i = new Intent(context, MyActivity.class); i.putExtra(wakeupKey, true); i.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK); context.startActivity(i); In the onResume() method of my Activity, I then look for the existence of this boolean variable: protected void onResume() { super.onResume(); String wakeupKey = "blah"; if (getIntent()!=null && getIntent().getExtras()!=null) Log.d("app", "onResume at " + System.currentTimeMillis() + ":" + getIntent().getExtras().getBoolean(wakeupKey)); else Log.d("app", "onResume at " + System.currentTimeMillis() + ": null"); } The getIntent().getExtras() call in onResume() always returns null - I don't seem to be able to pass any extras through at all in this bundle. If I use the same method to bind extras to the PendingIntent which triggers the BroadcastReceiver however, the extras come through just fine. Can anyone tell me what's different about passing a bundle from a BroadcastReceiver to an Activity, as opposed to passing the bundle from an Activity to a BroadcastReceiver? I fear I may be doing something very very obvious wrong here...

• What is the best practice for ouputting data from a collection on an ASP.net Page?

  I've ported a page from classic ASP to ASP.net. Part of what happens in this page is that a collection of custom types is generated and then displayed via Response.Write() commands. I'd like to get the business logic separated out into a code behind file (and maybe move this all into a user control), but I can't seem to figure out how I'd actually display the collection once it's been generated. I want to specify a master page here, too, so the code can't stay inline. I see in the Netbeans project the service and the stub .   I'm want to test two services: service which builds file name service which writes some data into file provided by 1st service In first i'm building some complex file structure (just for example {user}/{date}/{time}/{generatedId}.bin) In second i'm writing data to the file passed by first service (1st service calls 2nd service) How can I test both services using mocks without making any real IO interractions? • How can I prevent 'objects you are adding to the designer use a different data connection...'?

  I am using Visual Studio 2010, and I have a LINQ-to-SQL DBML file that my colleagues and I are using for this project. We have a connection string in the web.config file that the DBML is using. However, when I drag a new table from my "Server Explorer" onto the DBML file... I get presented with a dialog that demands that do one of these two options: Allow visual studio to change the connection string to match the one in my solution explorer. Cancel the operation (meaning, I don't get my table). I don't really care too much about the debate as why the PMs/devs who made this tool didn't allow a third option - "Create the object anyway - don't worry, I'm a developer!" What I am thinking would be a good solution is if I can create a connection in the Server Explorer - WITHOUT A WIZARD. If I can just paste a connection string, that would be awesome! Because then the DBML designer won't freak out on me :O) If anyone knows the answer to this question, or how to do the above, please lemme know!

• Problem Implementing StructureMap in VB.Net Conversion of SharpArchitecture

  I work in a VB.Net environment and have recently been tasked with creating an MVC enviroment to use as a base to work from. I decided to convert the latest SharpArchitecture release (Q3 2009) into VB, which on the whole has gone fine after a bit of hair pulling. I came across a problem with Castle Windsor where my custom repository interface (lives in the core/domain project) that was reference in the constructor of my test controller was not getting injected with the concrete implementation (from the data project). I hit a brick wall with this so basically decided to switch out Castle Windsor for StructureMap. I think I have implemented this ok as everything compiles and runs and my controller ran ok when referencing a custom repository interface. It appears now that I have/or cannot now setup my generic interfaces up properly (I hope this makes sense so far as I am new to all this). When I use IRepository(Of T) (wanting it to be injected with a concrete implementation of Repository(Of Type)) in the controller constructor I am getting the following runtime error: "StructureMap Exception Code: 202 No Default Instance defined for PluginFamily SharpArch.Core.PersistenceSupport.IRepository`1[[DebtRemedy.Core.Page, DebtRemedy.Core, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null]], SharpArch.Core, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b5f559ae0ac4e006" Here are my code excerpts that I am using (my project is called DebtRemedy).   I am setting up a simple ActiveMQ embedded broker. It works fine, until I try to configure a persistence adapter. I am basically just copying the configuration from http://activemq.apache.org/persistence.html#Persistence-ConfiguringKahaPersistence.   I have a Django app that gets it's data completely from an external source (queried via HTTP). That is, I don't have the option for a local database. Session data is stored in the cache (on my development server I use a SQLite database, so that is no error source). I'm using bleeding edge Django 1.1svn. Enter the problem: I want to use Django's own authentication system for the users. It seems quite simple to write my own Authentication Backend, but always just under the condition that you have a local database where to save the users. Without database my main problem is persistence.   Can anyone explain why it is assumed that a non nullable type property should always have a RequiredAttribue? I am trying to write a label helper that will auto append * or change the css class so that I can indicate to the user that the field is required. However when querying the metadata the non nullable properties end up with a required attribute. If I reference the ILMerged assembly, I have to reference a debug assembly and then change it before I package everything up, which doesn't seem ideal. I've tried creating a project called Foo, which references the 3 merged assemblies and replaces its own output with the ILmerged assembly, but that doesn't seem to work at all. Is there a reliable way to do this?

I am trying to convert this into a DataSet, but when I do ds.ReadXml(xmlFile), then it creates two columns: label and value.   I have an idea of how interrupts are handled by a dual core CPU. I was wondering about how interrupt handling is implemented on a board with more than one physical processor. Is any of the interrupt responsibility determined by the physical board's configuration? Each processor must be able to handle some types of interrupts, like disk I/O. Unless there is some circuitry to manage and dispatch interrupts to the appropriate processor? My guess is that the scheme must be processor neutral, so that any processor and core can run the interrupt handler. If a core is waiting on a disk read, will that core be the one to run the interrupt handler when the disk is ready?

  OK, not entirely related to programming, so I'm sorry. But I'd like to know about this: So I've got a webapp. There's one column where a list of results are fetched from the database. When you click one, jQuery fetches the information associated with that result and puts it into the second column - all without a refresh and using Ajax. Is it possible for Google to still read it etc.? I understand it can follow links... but presumably not Javascript actions etc.? If this is the case, what do other Ajax-heavy websites do about search engine optimisation? Jack
