  • Compile/use unrar C++ source for iphone app?

    Writing an app that will include the ability to decompress zip and rar files. I think I'm OK on how to handle the .zips but .rars seem a little more trouble. I noticed that rarlabs has source available but it's C++. Is there a way to compile, wrap or otherwise use this code within an iPhone app? Reference: http://www.rarlab.com/rar_add.htm Open to alternate suggestions on how to handle .rar files as well. I'm still pretty much a newbie so please explain in small words :)

    At first, I was not able to build a new blank project to iPhone using the new XCode 3.2 beta. I edited the project settings and was able to build the blank app to iPhone simulator. However, when I open the nib for the project in IB and click the view, it opens an iPad size view. How do I get the right sized view to work on in IB?

    Do you think that if I'll build my own custom analytic tool (Flurry, Pinchmedia) and I'll host that on the same server where I have my data source for the application, will Apple consider this as a thirdparty analytic tool or not? ... Problem is that Flurry and Pinch are being banned from Appstore by the newest T&C ... than I thought that I'll build an open source library that will allow anyone to have their own analytic installed on their server ... Sometimes it's takes quite a while to load the page, and in these cases I want to be able to use the built in back button on the phone to cancel the loading and go back to my application.     Hi Fiburt, Today I meet a similar problem and it reminds me about this thread. In Visual Studio, if we open the .csproj file, we see that they tell us to uncomment the two targets AfterBuild and BeforeBuild so as to execute them after and before the build of the current project accordingly. My questions are: Where are these two targets called in Visual Studio? And how is it handled if the targets are not defined (be commented out) ?

    I've scoured the Web looking for examples on how to do this. I've found a few that seem to be a little more involved then they need to be. So my question is, using iTextSharp, is there a fairly concise way to append one PDF document to another one? Optimally this would NOT involve a third file. Just open the first PDF doc, append the second PDF doc to the first and then close them both.

  • Java getInputStreat SocketTimeoutException instead of NoRouteToHostException

    I have an odd issue happening when trying to open multiple Input Streams (in separate threads) on Linux (RHEL). The behaviour works as expected on windows. I am kicking off 3 threads to open https connections to 3 different servers. All three are invalid IP addresses (in this test case), so I expect an NoRouteToHostException for each of them. The first two return these as expected, and quite quickly. (see stack trace below) However the third (and 4th when I tested it that way) do NOT give a no route exception. They wait for ages, and then give a SocketTimeoutException (see other stack trace below). This takes ages to come back, and does not accurately express the connection issue. The offending line of code is: reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(conn.getInputStream())); Has anyone seen something like this before? Are there multi-threading issues with sockets on REHL or some limit somewhere to how many can connect at once...or...something?
