• CrystalDecisions.Web reference version changes suddenly when run the webapp

  I'm breaking my head with this issue, I have a webapp that has a report using crystal report, in the development pc it works fine, but when copy the same project to another pc, when I load the project (VS 2003) the following msg appears: One or more projects in solution need to be updated to use Crystal Reports XI Release 2. If you choose "Yes", the update will be applied permanently... I choose "Yes" and after that I can see that CrystalDecisions.Web reference has the correct version, and location according to the develpment machine, in this case: 11.5.3300.0. But when run the webapp, I can see when the version and path suddenly changes to: 11.0.3300.0. And when trying to see the report the following error appears: Parser Error Message: The base class includes the field 'CrystalReportViewer1', but its type (CrystalDecisions.Web.CrystalReportViewer) is not compatible with the type of control (CrystalDecisions.Web.CrystalReportViewer). the asp.net has the following: <%@ Register TagPrefix="cr" Namespace="CrystalDecisions.Web" Assembly="CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=11.5.3300.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304" %> How is this possible? what's happening here? EDIT This is what I did: the wrong version (11.0.3300.0) was located at: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\3.0\managed and the right version (11.5.3300.0) is located at: C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\3.5\managed So I just deleted the files of the wrong solution, and I made it work in my new computer, no more errors when running the webapp, the report shows fine. But when try to do the same thing in production server, a different error came out, now an exception: This report could not be loaded due to the following issue: The type initializer for 'CrystalDecisions.CristalReports.Engine.ReportDocument' threw an exception. Any idea what could be causing this error now? • Zend_Form using subforms getValues() problem

  Hi all, I am building a form in Zend Framework 1.9 using subforms as well as Zend_JQuery being enabled on those forms. The form itself is fine and all the error checking etc is working as normal. But the issue I am having is that when I'm trying to retrieve the values in my controller, I'm receiving just the form entry for the last subform e.g. My master form class (abbreviated for speed): Master_Form extends Zend_Form { public function init() { ZendX_JQuery::enableForm($this); $this->setAction('actioninhere') ... ->setAttrib('id', 'mainForm') $sub_one = new Form_One(); $sub_one->setDecorators(... in here I add the jQuery as per the docs); $this->addSubForm($sub_one, 'form-one'); $sub_two = new Form_Two(); $sub_two->setDecorators(... in here I add the jQuery as per the docs); $this->addSubForm($sub_two, 'form-two'); } } So that all works as it should in the display and when I submit without filling in the required values, the correct errors are returned. However, in my controller I have this: class My_Controller extends Zend_Controller_Action { public function createAction() { $request = $this->getRequest(); $form = new Master_Form(); if ($request->isPost()) { if ($form->isValid($request->getPost()) { // This is where I am having the problems print_r($form->getValues()); } } } } When I submit this and it gets past isValid(), the $form-getValues() is only returning the elements from the second subform, not the entire form.

• Opening a Unicode file with Perl

  I'm using osql to run several sql scripts against a database and then I need to look at the results file to check if any errors occurred. The problem is that perl doesn't seem to like the fact that the results files are unicode. I wrote a little test script to test it and the output comes out all warbled. $file = shift; open OUTPUT, $file or die "Can't open $file: $!\n"; while (<OUTPUT>) { print $_; if (/Invalid|invalid|Cannot|cannot/) { push(@invalids, $file); print "invalid file - $inputfile - schedule for retry\n"; last; } } Any ideas? I've tried decoding using decode_utf8 but it makes no difference. I've also tried to set the encoding when opening the file. I think the problem might be that osql puts the result file in UTF-16 format, but I'm not sure. When I open the file in textpad it just tells me 'Unicode'. Edit: Using perl v5.8.8

Gson does however create an object of the class I specified and does not throw any subsequent errors. I know that this has been done before. So, what am I missing? TIA

• RoR: Replace_html with partial and collection not functioning

  I am trying to create a tabbed interface using the prototype helper method "replace_html." I have three different partials I am working with. The first one is the 'main tab' and it is loaded automatically like so: <div id = "grid"> <% things_today = things.find_things_today %> <%= render :partial => "/todaything", :collection => things_today, :as =>:thing %> </div> ...which works fine. Similarly, I have a _tomorrowthing partial which would replace the content in the 'grid' div like so: <%things_tomorrow = things.find_things_tomorrow%> <%= link_to_function('Tomorrow',nil, :id=>'tab') do |page| page.replace_html 'grid' , :partial => '/tomorrowthing',:collection => things_tomorrow, :as => :thing end %> If I click on this tab nothing happens at all. Using firebug, the only errors I find are a missing ) after argument list which is contained in the Element.update block where the link_to_function is called. What am I doing wrong?

• google maps not working anymore at the drop of a hat

  2 days ago, I was working on a project that involves google maps. The website showed the maps on the pages just fine. Now, I come back to my workstation, nothing has changed, expect for the fact that the google maps won't show up anymore. The code is identical, nobody has touched my machine since I was gone, I've checked the html, everything is perfect and still this isn't working... The Javascript console is giving no errors and the code is identical to a backup I make everytime I call it a day. 2 days ago it was working, today it isn't. I've even copied the source code, put it into an html file and tried that, but the same result. I'm at a loss here. • Debugging fortran code in Eclipse with Photran and GDB debugger: missing symbols

  I have a program, written in fortran90, previously successfully compiled on a compaq compiler and working, that I'm now trying to compile with gfortran. I can compile the code to an .exe and run it. It works fine until a certain point in the routine and then an error is thrown. My current configuration: Windows 7 Eclipse Juno with CDT Photran Cygwin installation with gfortran compiler and GDB debugger (gdb.exe) Configurations for the debugger: GDB command set: Standard (Windows) Protocol: mi Shared libraries: don't load shared library symbols automatically (when activating this, no changes are noted). When running the debug command I get the following output: .gdbinit: No such file or directory. Reading symbols from /cygdrive/c/Users/thys/Documents/doctoraat/12_in progress/Hamfem/Debug/Hamfem.exe...done. auto-solib-add on Undefined command: "auto-solib-add". Try "help". Warning: C:/Users/thys/Documents/doctoraat/12_in progress/Hamfem/Hamfem/in: No such file or directory. [New Thread 5816.0x1914] [New Thread 5816.0x654] Basicly that leaves me with 2 questions: Where can I find the .gdbinit file in the cygwin installation? Are there any other possible errors in my setup, or points to think about?

• ASP.net drop down dynamically styling and then remembering the styles on aborted submit

  So, I've got an ASP drop down list (this is .net 2.0). I'm binding it with data. Basically, when the page loads and it's not a post back we'll fetch record data, bind all the drop downs, and set them to their appropriate values (strictly speaking we: initialize page with basic set of data from DB, bind drop downs from DB, fetch actual record data from DB, set drown downs to appropriate settings at this time). What I want to do is selectively style the list options. So the database returns 3 items: ID, Text, and a flag indicating whether I the record is "active" (and I'll style appropriately). It's easy enough to do and I've done it. My problem is what happens when a form submission is halted. We have slightly extended the Page class and created an AddError() method, which will create a list of errors from failed business rule checks and then display them in a ValidationSummary. It works something like this, in the submit button's click event: CheckBizRules(); if(Page.IsValid) { SaveData(); } If any business rule check fails, the Page will not be valid. The problem is, when the page re-renders (viewsate is enabled, but no data is rebound) my beautiful conditional styling is now sadly gone, off to live in the land of the missing socks. I need to preserve it. I was hoping to avoid another DB call here (e.g. getting the list data back from the DB again if the page isn't valid, just for purposes of re-styling the list). But it's not the end of the world if that's my course of action. I was hoping someone might have an alternative suggestion. I couldn't think of how to phrase this question better, if anyone has any suggestions or needs clarification don't hesitate to get it, by force if need be. ;)

  I'm trying to login with the following controller action, but my login attempt keeps failing (I get the 'invalid username and/or password' message). What am I doing wrong? • Why is this attempt at a binary search crashing?

  I am fairly new to the concept of a binary search, and am trying to write a program that does this in Java for personal practice. I understand the concept of this well, but my code is not working. There is a run-time exception happening in my code that just caused Eclipse, and then my computer, to crash... there are no compile-time errors here though. • Refreshing Facebook session from an iframe application

  I've got a Facebook iframe application that is completely external. By this I mean that once a user accesses the canvas URL to load the application, all the links in the iframe app go to my servers, and the canvas page never gets refreshed unless the user navigates to somewhere else on Facebook and comes back (or does a browser refresh). On the initial load of the app where Facebook creates the iframe, I get passed all the usual parameters like fb_sig_user which allows me to create an internal app session based on the facebook user. This app session (which is not the Facebook session, it's my own app session) is all I need to allow the user to work with the app. The problem comes an hour later. If the user leaves the computer, or uses the app for more than an hour, the Facebook session expires. There are some app pages which require fetching friend information, and once the FB session has expired, these pages break, throwing out errors such as "Error: Session key invalid or no longer valid". My question is whether there is a way to refresh the user's Facebook session from within an iframe application to keep it from expiring an hour later. Do any of the API calls do this? Is there a Facebook Connect trick to ping something? Is there any definitive method to keep it alive? I haven't been able to find any examples that specifically address this.

  I am trying to upload two files at once (two file fields) with codeigniters upload class. Despite having provided the field name codeigniter produces errors on the second field. • Trying to compile a linux-based app on Mac OS X

  I'm just trying to compile the linux-based FCEUX (NES emulator) on my mac, OS X 10.5 Leopard. • eclipse django using wrong settings.py in pythonpath

  I have pydev/django installed in eclipse, and it runs fine. However, after adding a second django project to eclipse and running the server ('http://127.0.0.1:8000') the pythonpath seems to be stuck on project2 even when I run project1. As a summary, I have two django projects: project1, project2. When I run the django server for project1 I get: Validating models... 0 errors found Django version 1.5, using settings 'project1.settings' Development server is running at 'http://127.0.0.1:8000/' Quit the server with CTRL-BREAK. The above seems to suggest that django is using the correct settings file; however, when I go to 'http://127.0.0.1:8000/' it displays the urls from project2. Also, if I go to 'http://127.0.0.1:8000/admin' the models are getting pulled from the sqlite.db file in project2 as well. I've even tried removing project2 from eclipse entirely and now at 'http://127.0.0.1:8000/admin' I get this error: Python Path: ['C:\Users\Brad\workspaces\In Progress\project2', 'C:\Users\Brad\workspaces\In Progress\project2', 'C:\Python27\DLLs', 'C:\Python27\lib', 'C:\Python27\lib\plat-win', 'C:\Python27\lib\lib-tk', 'C:\Python27', 'C:\Python27\lib\site-packages', 'C:\Windows\system32\python27.zip'] If I run the server on a different port with project1 the path seems to be fine: runserver 7000 --noreload Then 'http://127.0.0.1:7000/' uses project1's paths, but it doesn't seem like I should have to do this. Note: I have setup the run configurations as correctly as I know how. In the main tab, the project and main module both point to the correct project (project1), and the "PYTHONPATH that will be used in the run:" includes project1. Also, I have cleared my browser history, cookies, and everything that chrome would let me delete.

THE FIRST PROBLEM IS: Some P value are more than 0.05 and are still showing up! 2- I designed the program to give me a result of "This is wrong" when the Value of P is "NaN", I am getting results of "NaN" Here's a screenshot from the results do you know what the mistake i made with the command to get these errors? • Using WebMatrix and Visial Studio 2010 on a Razor project

  I am having problems using both WebMatrix and VS on a Razor project. I have downloaded and installed all updates from the official ASP.net web site. After getting the project to compile in VS I get the following error: "The type of page you have requested is not served because it has been explicitly forbidden. The extension '.cshtml' may be incorrect." Now when I open the project in WebMatrix I receive the same error. I can open/run other projects in WebMatrix without errors so apparently VS changed some configuration in my project? Fortunately I have found a work around but the problem is still not solved. 1) Create a new empty folder for site. 2) Copy contents of folder from failing site. 3) In WebMatrix use option "Site From Folder". Once I have the site up and running with the above steps I can delete the original folder, then rename the new folder (which is now working) to the orig name and the site will stop working again. There is some setting on my system tied to the original folder name that is stopping cshtml files from being served. What/Where is that setting? Thanks, Terrence Koehn

• Javascript: Whitespace Characters being Removed in Chrome (but not Firefox)

  Why would the below eliminate the whitespace around matched keyword text when replacing it with an anchor link? Note, this error only occurs in Chrome, and not firefox. For complete context, the file is located at: http://seox.org/lbp/lb-core.js To view the code in action (no errors found yet), the demo page is at http://seox.org/test.html. Copy/Pasting the first paragraph into a rich text editor (ie: dreamweaver, or gmail with rich text editor turned on) will reveal the problem, with words bunched together. • c incompatible types in assignment, problem with pointers?

  Hi I'm working with C and I have a question about assigning pointers. struct foo { int _bar; char * _car[MAXINT]; // this is meant to be an array of char * so that it can hold pointers to names of cars } int foofunc (void * arg) { int bar; char * car[MAXINT]; struct foo thing = (struct foo *) arg; bar = arg->_bar; // this works fine car = arg->_car; // this gives compiler errors of incompatible types in assignment } car and _car have same declaration so why am I getting an error about incompatible types? My guess is that it has something to do with them being pointers (because they are pointers to arrays of char *, right?) but I don't see why that is a problem. when i declared char * car; instead of char * car[MAXINT]; it compiles fine. but I don't see how that would be useful to me later when I need to access certain info using index, it would be very annoying to access that info later. in fact, I'm not even sure if I am going about the right way, maybe there is a better way to store a bunch of strings instead of using array of char *?

• Is Form validation and Business validation too much?

  I've got this question about form validation and business validation. I see a lot of frameworks that use some sort of form validation library. You submit some values and the library validates the values from the form. If not ok it will show some errors on you screen. If all goes to plan the values will be set into domain objects. Here the values will be or, better said, should validated (again). Most likely the same validation in the validation library. I know 2 PHP frameworks having this kind of construction Zend/Kohana. When I look at programming and some principles like Don't Repeat Yourself (DRY) and single responsibility principle (SRP) this isn't a good way. As you can see it validates twice. Why not create domain objects that do the actual validation. Example: Form with username and email form is submitted. Values of the username field and the email field will be populated in 2 different Domain objects: Username and Email class Username {} class Email {} These objects validate their data and if not valid throw an exception. Do you agree? What do you think about this aproach? Is there a better way to implement validations? I'm confused about a lot of frameworks/developers handling this stuff. Are they all wrong or am I missing a point? Edit: I know there should also be client side kind of validation. This is a different ballgame in my Opinion. If You have some comments on this and a way to deal with this kind of stuff, please provide.

• Web Deployment Project failed to map path for include virtual

  I am building my site with a web deployment project but the build fails with a number of errors all relating to the "#include virtual" directives in my master page. The includes are necessary to import a set of centrally managed html template files. Here is an example of the include directive and associated error: <!-- #include virtual="/v3/sits/pdpdev/assets-templates/inc/head.html" --> /PDPRegistration.csproj/Pages/ContentPage.Master(15): error ASPPARSE: Failed to map the path '/v3/sits/pdpdev/assets-templates/inc/head.html'. The error for each included file actually appears multiple times. I'm not sure what is being mapped or why, but this was never a problem until I started using WDP (which I wanted to alter web.config depending on the build environment, among other things.) The project is built locally on my PC and then copied to the web server via a mapped drive. I found a few solutions on the 'net involving IIS metabase - they weren't quite clear to me, and I'm not sure if they apply given how I build and deploy the project (that is, would I have to build on the same system as IIS in order to make use of the metabase?) Can anyone suggest how I can get my project to build with WDP?

• What is the easiest way to read wav-files using Python [summary]?

  I want to use Python to access a wav-file and write its content in a form which allows me to analyze it (let's say arrays). I heard that "audiolab" is a suitable tool for that (it transforms numpy arrays into wav and vica versa). I have installed the "audiolab" but I had a problem with the version of numpy (I could not "from numpy.testing import Tester"). I had 1.1.1. version of numpy. I have installed a newer version on numpy (1.4.0). I asked a question about that but people recommended to use scipy instead. OK, I decided to focus on scipy (I have 0.6.0. version). But when I tried to do the following: from scipy.io import wavfile x = wavfile.read('/usr/share/sounds/purple/receive.wav') I get the following: Traceback (most recent call last): File "test3.py", line 4, in <module> from scipy.io import wavfile File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/scipy/io/__init__.py", line 23, in <module> from numpy.testing import NumpyTest ImportError: cannot import name NumpyTest So, I gave up to use scipy. Can I use just wave package? I do not need much. I just need to have content of wav-file in human readable format and than I will figure out what to do with that.

• Handle order dependence in loops

  Hey all, I'm making a templating system where I instantiate each tag using a foreach loop. The issue is that some of the tags rely on each other so, I'm wondering how to get around that ordering from the looping. Here's an example: Class A { public $width; __construct() { $this->width = $B->width; // Undefined! Or atleast not set yet.. } } Class B { public $width; __construct() { $this->width = "500px"; } __tostring() { return "Hello World!"; } } Template.php $tags = array("A", "B"); foreach ($tags as $tag) { $TagObj[$tag] = new $tag(); } echo $TagObj['A']->width; // Nadamundo! EDIT: Ok just to clarify.. My main problem is that Class A relies on Class B, but class A is instantiated before class B, so therefore width has not yet been defined in class B. I am looking for a good way to make sure all the classes are loaded for everyone allowing the interdependencies to exist. For the future, please don't consider any syntax errors.. I just made up this example on the spot. Also assume that I have access to class B from class A after class B gets instantiated. I know this has applications elsewhere and I'm sure this has been solved before, if someone could enlighten me or point me in the right direction that'd be great! Thanks! Matt Mueler

• Issue with 'Hello Android' tutorial

  I am brand new to Eclipse and Android, but somewhat familiar with Java. That having been said, I tried to follow the 'Hello Android' tutorial from the developer site using the latest Eclipse (Galieo) and the 2.1 Android SDK, I am on a Macintosh running Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6). I have a default virtual device (though my target is actually for phones like my own HTC Incredible which has the snapdragon processor and of course all the latest accoutrement in smart phones. Everything seemed to go okay until I went to RUN>RUN and then selected 'Android Application'. My computer spins it's wheels for a while and then I see two errors.
