  Opening a public page from browser works fine. Downloading same page using WebClient throws - (403) Forbidden. What is going on here ?   Hello, The question Is it possible to ask SSIS to cast a value and return NULL in case the cast is not allowed instead of throwing an error ? My environment I'm using Visual Studio 2005 and Sql Server 2005 on Windows Server 2003. The general context Just in case you're curious, here is my use case. I have to store data coming from somewhere in a generic table (key/value structure with history) witch contains some sort of value that can be strings, numbers or dates. The structure is something like this : table Values { Id int, Date datetime, -- for history Key nvarchar(50) not null, Value nvarchar(50), DateValue datetime, NumberValue numeric(19,9) } I want to put the raw value in the Value column and try to put the same value in the DateValue column when i'm able to cast it to Datetime in the NumberValue column when i'm able to cast it to a number Those two typed columns would make all sort of aggregation and manipulation much easier and faster later. • Adding a method to a function object at runtime

  I read a question earlier asking if there was a times method in Python, that would allow a function to be called n times in a row. Everyone suggested for _ in range(n): foo() but I wanted to try and code a different solution using a function decorator. Here's what I have: def times(self, n, *args, **kwargs): for _ in range(n): self.__call__(*args, **kwargs) import new def repeatable(func): func.times = new.instancemethod(times, func, func.__class__) @repeatable def threeArgs(one, two, three): print one, two, three threeArgs.times(7, "one", two="rawr", three="foo") When I run the program, I get the following exception: Traceback (most recent call last): File "", line 244, in run_nodebug File "C:\py\repeatable.py", line 24, in threeArgs.times(7, "one", two="rawr", three="foo") AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'times' So I suppose the decorator didn't work? How can I fix this?

• asp.net mvc ignoreRoute with webservice

  Howdy, Im adding the filevistacontrol to my asp.net MVC web application. I have a media.aspx page that is ignored in the routing with routes.IgnoreRoute("media.aspx"); This works successfully and serves a standard webforms page. Upon adding the filevistacontrol, I can't seem to ignore any calls the control makes to it's webservice. Eg the following ignoreRoute still seems to get picked up by the MvcHandler. routes.IgnoreRoute("FileVistaControl/filevista.asmx/GetLanguageFile/"); The exception thrown is: 'The RouteData must contain an item named 'controller' with a non-empty string value' Thanks in advance.

  I am using ASP MVC 2 and Nhibernate. I am fairly new to NHibernate so I am not sure if I am missing something.

• How to Audit Database Activity without Performance and Scalability Issues?

  I have a need to do auditing all database activity regardless of whether it came from application or someone issuing some sql via other means. So the auditing must be done at the database level. The database in question is Oracle. I looked at doing it via Triggers and also via something called Fine Grained Auditing that Oracle provides. In both cases, we turned on auditing on specific tables and specific columns. However, we found that Performance really sucks when we use either of these methods. Since auditing is an absolute must due to regulations placed around data privacy, I am wondering what is best way to do this without significant performance degradations. If someone has Oracle specific experience with this, it will be helpful but if not just general practices around database activity auditing will be okay as well.

What i am trying to do is basically get the some of the list of list, if that makes sense? lol What i am trying to achieve is.... sum([ [1,2],[3,4],[5,6] ]). should return: Number Of Lists: 3 List 1 3 List 2 7 List 3 11....etc I can get the Number of Lists which is fairly simple but im not quite sure how to loop through the List and then for each List add the number up.   Hi Gurus, This is with reference to this question where I got one tabular report format. I need to update the user entered values correctly back to the same table rows. I am in the process of doing this by using general form post data methods by using some logics which I think will not be easy to maintain. So, just out of curiosity, Is there a front end creator javascript libraries or frameworks which can create the front end for any query's resultset and updates the corresponding rows when the user updates them from front end. This need not have all the full functionality, any one usable, customizable thing will reduce the code maintenance problems. I have googled for some javascript libraris for this but not able to get which will be suitable. Please suggest any useful tools. My environment is Mysql, PHP, JQuery, XAMPP server on Windows.   While the NSCurrentLocaleDidChangeNotification perfectly makes sense on Mac OS X, I don't see how you can possibly receive it on iPhone OS. In order to change the locale, you have to quit the running application, then change it in Settings ? General ? International ? Region Format. At that point, your app is not running, so how could it receive the notification? I first thought this notification was leftover from the Mac OS X documentation, but then I found this in Apple Push Notification Service Programming Guide: The application might send its provider the preferred language every time the user changes something in the current locale. To do this, you can listen for the notification named NSCurrentLocaleDidChangeNotification and, in your notification-handling method, get the code identifying the preferred language and send that to your provider. So, how do you trigger this notification on iPhone OS?

• How can unit testing make parameter validation redundant?

  We have a convention to validate all parameters of constructors and public functions/methods. For mandatory parameters of reference type, we mainly check for non-null and that's the chief validation in constructors, where we set up mandatory dependencies of the type. The number one reason why we do this is to catch that error early and not get a null reference exception a few hours down the line without knowing where or when the faulty parameter was introduced. As we start transitioning to more and more TDD, some team members feel the validation is redundant. Uncle Bob, who is a vocal advocate of TDD, strongly advices against doing parameter validation. His main argument seems to be "I have a suite of unit tests that makes sure everything works". But I can for the life of it just not see in what way unit tests can prevent our developers from calling these methods with bad parameters in production code. Please, unit testers out there, if you could explain this to me in a rational way with concrete examples, I'd be more than happy to seize this parameter validation!

• How to run a .class file in Windows 7 OS?

  Hi, This is probably a stupid question, but how do I run a class file on windows 7? I usually create my own .java files and then use a basic IDE (with JDK6) to compile it to a class and run it automatically. My professor gave a .class file that we are supposed to play with extensively but I have no idea how to to run it here. Note that I cannot run it by typing: java classname.class because it contains gui stuff especially buttons and such. The given array is such that a solution do exist. The union of numbers of the two sequence must be the given array. Both series can have common elements i.e. series need not to be disjoint. The ratio of the geometric series can be fractional. Example: Given series : 2,4,6,8,10,12,25 AP: 2,4,6,8,10,12 GP: 4,10,25 I tried taking few examples but could not reach a general way. Even tried some graph implementation by introducing edges if they follow a particular sequence but could not reach solution.

  Hi, I have a website for which many pages rely on information passed to them (usually in the form of a querystring) or on a session variable. When making a web application, how do you normally handle these particular pages in regards to the sitemap? If you're using the standard ASP.NET menu control, it will render the node on the menu and if you click it, you could get an exception stating that a session variable doesn't exist (if it hasn't been created yet). For example, if you're making a user management area: All of these nodes get rendered, but I don't want the user to click on edit user or delete user without specifying someone to edit or delete. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

• Swing invokeLater never shows up, invokeAndWait throws error. What can I do?

  I have this code: try { SwingUtilities.invokeAndWait(new Runnable() { public void run() { try { dialog.handleDownload(); } catch (IOException io) { io.printStackTrace(); } } }); } catch(Exception io) { io.printStackTrace(); } in the handleDownload I'm reading an inputstream, calculating a progress bar's value, and setting it to that. So, when I click a button, a new JFrame opens up and does all the stuff I wrote above. If I have the dialog.handleDownload by itself ( in no SwingUtilities method ), it freezes until the operation is finished. If I add it in a invokeLater it's closed very fast ( I can't see anything, and the operation is not finished ). If I add it in a invokeAndWait I get the invokeAndWait cannot be called from the event dispatcher thread error. What should I do?

There is some general good advice to make paper contracts before starting new jobs. When I started my work as a freelancer I hadn't got any clue how such contract should looks like. Now I have some ideas but I believe many of freelancers gathered on SO can add some interesting advices for less-experienced colleagues (like me). So the question is: what clauses freelancers should put on agreements with their clients to make their projects less stressful and better secured. What are your experiences here?   Has anyone implemented facebook "Like" on iPhone/iPad? I've done general Facebook Connect implementation before, but it appears they're phasing that out in favour of OAuth and the Graph API? We're trying to give users the ability to "Like" items of content in the app. Each item of content has a corresponding URL for its representation on the website.   This (shortened) code.. for (int i = 0; i < count; i++) { object obj = propertyInfo.GetValue(Tcurrent, new object[] { i }); } .. is throwing a 'TargetParameterCountException : Parameter count mismatch' exception. The underlying type of 'propertyInfo' is a Collection of some T. 'count' is the number of items in the collection. I need to iterate through the collection and perform an operation on obj. Advice appreciated.
