    Whenever I open a file with Vim, the program automatically creates a copy of the file ending with a tilde~ When I'm done editing a few files, the folder is littered with extraneous files ending in ~ Is it possible to have Vim automatically remove said files? Or as an alternative, is it possible to have Windows hide them?

I don't have access to domain controller and I don't want to write LDAP queries but just some GUI option or some command line stuff. Is there anyway?     I'm trying to install just the Unicenter Event Agent on a Windows 2008 virtual server, but every time I run the NSM 11.2 installer I get the following error code: Unknown or bad error code from "cadepchkx.exe" error code = -1 There are already some Unicenter agents installed on this server, but that was done from a custom install script. Has any one experienced this or know how I can get the installer to run properly, so I can install the event agent?

    Windows Vista introduced ReadyBoost which lets you use a Flash drive as a third (after RAM and HD) type of memory. It occurred to me that I could boost peformance on an old PC here w/ Win XP (32 bit, max'd at 4GB RAM) by putting it's swap file (page file) on a flash drive. (Now, before anyone comments: apparently Flash drives (10-30MB/s transfer rates) are slower than HDD (100+ MB/s) (I'm asking that as a separate question on this forum).

    Simple question: What's the quickest way to get an en dash (–, Unicode U+2013 EN DASH) in Windows? Note that this question is for all programs, not just Microsoft Word. Even better if it can be copied to the clipboard as a pure Unicode character, with no formatting information (typeface, etc.) so that when I paste it into Word or Excel or other rich text editors, it doesn't carry its format with it.

It works fine, but I can't set the resolution to anything higher than 1600 x 1200, whereas my screen is 1920x1080. Here's my system specifications: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3632QM CPU @ 2.20GHz AMD Radeon 7650 VGA 8 Gb RAM DDR3 Moreover, if I try to enhable 3D acceleration in the settings of my guest, when I expand to full screen it aborts...     I had to format a USB hard drive to ext3 to use it with a Linksys nas box. Now I can't read the hd when I unplug it from the nas and plug it directly into my Windows 7 computer. (The computer accesses the nas over a wireless connection, so I like to plug the hd directly into my pc when transferring large files.) How can I leave the hd formatted with ext3 and yet be able to access it (read/write) when I plug it directly into my pc?

    We are running into issues with BizTalk host instance intermittently going down. One of the things that we are worried about is the number of FTP connections a single host instance is making which could easily reach into the hundreds perhaps sometimes thousands, depending on traffic. My question is Windows Server 2003 Is there a limit on number of TCP connections per process? If so would putting each application in it's own host instance potentially solve the problem.

There was a list of user accounts in opened window, then selected a user account and unchecked some option then the user account was gone from welcome screen.. Does anyone aware of this method?

The button "diagnose" seems to do a few things but not request a new dhcp lease if one is already available. Disabling and re-enabling the card does the trick but messes up any program capturing traffic on the interface.

    I have an application on an AIX server (v5.3) that needs to print via a Windows Print Server over the LAN. The simplest way to do this is to use SMIT to setup a remote print queue - which I've done on the test environment - but the IT department have refused to set up a remote print queue on the Production server. I don't have root access to the Production server. Is there any other method for connecting the app to the print server that doesn't involve print queues on the AIX box?

    I’ve set up ten Windows 7 user accounts, so that I can test different versions of Google Chrome*. I’ve named the accounts “Chrome 01”, “Chrome 02”, and so on. Ideally, I’d like the accounts sorted on the login screen by Chrome version, which is why I added the leading zero to the version number (assuming it was an alphabetic sort). However, when I created the “Chrome 10” account, it ended up sorted between “Chrome 01” and “Chrome 02”. What is going on? *(Chrome installs are user-account-specific)

    An application I use regularly is command-line based, and I would like to add the most used commands in the Windows Explorer's context menu that pops up when right-clicking on a file or folder. From what I read, a lot of programs in that menu are COM applications. Is there an easier way to add commands to the menu, as an alternative to opening a DOS box and typing commands? Ideally, it should work for XP, Vista, and 7.
