• architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application?

  I am using JDBC to connect to my microsoft access database. I get the following exception when I try to connect to the database: java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application I am using 64bit windows7, and I am using eclipse which is also a 64bit version My database is a microsoft access database and it seems that the driver is a 32bit driver which is causing the problem. I read somewhere that microsoft has not released a 64bit driver for microsoft access! Any help on how to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

• Accessing one process's memory contents from another module

  I am developing a virtual device driver such that the user can write to the driver a process' pid and a virtual address, and the module will use these two values to get the memory contents of the target process. I am wondering if there is any easy functions that can fetch user page's data at this virtual address. I have tried get_user but this is not possible because the modules executing get_user at another process's context. I also tried to use ptrace_readdata, however, it seems that the file at /kernel/ptrace.c leaves a function access_process_vm undefined and also I don't know how to compile the source code of my module with this file (the linker seaches file in /linux/include by default). I am wondering if there are any other solutions...

  MMC Snap-in will not load most processes and throws an error on Windows 2008R2 x64. It gives the error: mmc could not create the snap-in. CLSID: FX:{18ea3f92-d6aa-41d9-a205-2023400c8fbb} when opening server manager. It also gives similar errors opening event viewer, etc. I think that the .NET Framework is messed up but I can't narrow down the exact cause. Has anyone else seen this issue. I have a dmp file of mmc.exe but haven't been able to get anything meaningful out of it.

• Win CE 6.0 client using WCF Services

  We have a Win CE 6.0 device that is required to consume services that will be provided using WCF. We are attempting to reduce bandwidth usage as much as possible and with a simple test we have found that using UDP instead of HTTP saved significant data usage. I understand there are limitations regarding WCF on .NET Compact Framework 3.5 devices and was curious what people thought would be the appropriate way forward. Would it make sense to develop a custom UDP binding, and would that work for both sides? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

• Git checking out problem [fatal: early EOFs]

  Dear all, I'm running a Ubuntu (9.10) server with Git (latest from Ubuntu package manager) installed. Access to the Git is via SSH. On windows machines, I'm using Cygwin to push/pull code. I can push my project code onto the server but when I do a clone or pull, it returns a [fatal: early EOFs] error at about 75-80%. Upon further investigation, it seems like textual data has no issue when pulled/cloned but when the jar files and images are pulled from Git, the error will occur. Any suggestion/advice that can help to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance.

• How to load font from InputStream in SWT?

  I need to load font (.otf or .ttf) file from java Resource or InputStream in SWT. org.eclipse.swt.graphics.Device.loadFont(String path) allows me (example) to load font from font file path (and it works), but there is no corresponding method to load it from any other source. I was thinking of using java.awt.Font.createFont(int fontFormat, InputStream fontStream) and then building org.eclipse.swt.graphics.FontData and org.eclipse.swt.graphics.Font objects out of AWT java.awt.Font object. Since I haven't tried that option yet (I don't even know if it works that way) I was just wondering if there are any other options available?

  I am using this code in the DetailView.m of a splitview app. Now the orientation changes occur only when the device is rotated. The detection does not take place when the app is launched. • UIImages not displaying in TableView on iPhone, but working in Simulator

  Hi, I have a UITable View that displays an image in the left hand side of the table cell, and it works fine in the simulator. Only problem is, once I ran it on my device no images appear. It's just a blank white space. Have checked that images are added to resource folder for build (which they are) and that capitals etc. match (which they do). Any ideas? Thanks. • Too many connections to 212.192.255.240

  Recently, my Internet slowed down drastically. I downloaded a tool to see the TCP/IP connections from my Vista computer. I found out that a lot TCP/IP connections are being connected to 212.192.255.240 through SVCHost. It seems that it is trying to connect to different ports. I think that my computer is being infected with some kind of malware etc. But I am not sure how to get rid of it. I did a little bit of research on this IP but found nothing. Any suggestions are highly appreciated. UPDATE: This is the HiJackThis log file and I can't find any thing weird. Also, the program is also trying to create connections to 91.205.127.63, which is also from Russia. • SQL Server 08 Express error when connecting to localhost - "Timeout expired". Works with ::1 or 127.0.0.1

  EDIT New info: Navigating to localhost:1434 in Chrome gives me an "ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE", while other ports give me an "Oops! This link appears to be broken". So it seems to binding ok there? So here's my setup so far: I've configured Windows Firewall to allow TCP on 1433 and UDP on 1434. I've set up SQL Server to use any IP on Port 1433 (using the SQL Server Configuration Manager). My hosts file contains the default entries ("127.0.0.1 localhost" and "::1 localhost"). I sometimes have a debug session of Visual Web Developer running a webserver, but it's on a specific port (localhost:5XXXX). What I've tried: I CAN ping localhost in a cmd prompt. I CAN connect to the database through SSMS if I specify 127.0.0.1 or ::1 as the server name. I CAN'T connect to the database through SSMS (or ADO.NET) if I specify localhost as the server name. I've tried both Windows and SQL Authentication The error I get is the standard Can't connect to localhost. Additional Information -- Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. (Microsoft Sql Server) Other considerations: Stopping the Visual Web Developer web server from the taskbar doesn't affect the sql problem. The SQL error log says that it's listening on some piped name url at start up (I don't see how this would affect localhost but not 127.0.0.1 though). I could probably just use 127.0.0.1 everywhere, but it scares me that localhost isn't working and I'd like to figure out why. I'm not much of a networking or sql server guy so I'm stuck. If you want me to try anything to help diagnose just put it in a comment and I'll give it a go.   I'm trying to create a simple login window with the very common 'Remember me' functionality. The login validation is done AJAX style, thus the browser won't remember my input. My approach is to use the built-in state functionality, but how to use it confuses me. • Slow SQL Sync with Microsoft Sync Framework on Mobile Client

  Hello, we are developing an application which uses MS Sync Framework to sync data between Windows CE 6.0 with SQL CE 3.5 SP1 Clients and an SQL 2008 Database. Our major problem is a slow sync time up to 1 minute for 15 tables which are totally empty. Here's a break down of our components: Server: Sql Server 2008 15 tables with activated change tracking WCF Service with endpoint for the mobile sync (uses Sync Framework 2.0) Client (Mobile) Windows CE 6.0 NET Application using Sync Framework for Devices (CTP 1) which starts the sync As I mentioned above, the sync takes up to 1 minute without any changes and empty tables. The mobile device is in its dock. This is a deal breaker for a production environment. Does anybody have any experience in this field? Is there a way to improve things? Thanks for any responses.

  Using Ruby SerialPorts Gem to interact with hardware. When I write a byte array to the hardware using a program called "Serial Port Monitor" the hardware responds correctly. However, when I write the same byte array using ruby it doesn't work unless I do a read request just before the write request. This device doesn't respond correctly with this sp = SerialPort.new(args) sp.write [200.chr, 30.chr, 6.chr, 5.chr, 1.chr, 2.chr, 0.chr, 244.chr] But it does if I add a read request before the write. Like this sp SerialPort.new(args) sp.read sp.write [200.chr, 30.chr, 6.chr, 5.chr, 1.chr, 2.chr, 0.chr, 244.chr] This works, but I'm at a loss as to why. I should also add that the first snippet does work occasionally maybe 1/10 of the time.

• Why does Xcode launch the iPhone simulator when the iPad simulator is selected?

  When I open an existing iPad project in Xcode and "Build and Run" it, it launches the iPhone simulator when I have the iPad Simulator set as the active executable? Inside the iPhone simulator is a shrunken version of the iPad. What is going on? How do I get it to run the iPad simulator? Note: When the iPhone Simulator is running, I double checked the Hardware-Device setting and it's set to iPad. This is what I want, of course, but I don't want it to run the iPhone simulator. I seem to recall it used to run an iPad simulator. Is there such a thing or am I tripping and there is only an iPhone simulator that can run iPad apps? Thanks in advance for your help!

• Core Location in iPhone Simulator 3.2 (iPad)

  So, i'm trying to port my app to iPad. I'm using CoreLocation. Apple says the iPad does have Location: Wi-Fi Digital compass Assisted GPS (Wi-Fi + 3G model) Cellular (Wi-Fi + 3G model) so it should be possible to get the position of my ipad (at least with 3g model) about 3km radius would be enought. but it doesnt work in simulator (3.2 ipad) (running 3.1.3 in simulator simulates me cupertino). is there a way to get the position in simulator (3.2 ipad) ? i live in germany and here the ipad isnt released yet, so i cannot test it on my device. thanks!

But I have found an SL app supposedly geared for mobile devices (as much as I hate weatherbug), but when i try going there in PIE on my WinMo 6.1 device, it shows me the little "get silverlight" image button, but clicking it doesn't do anything. So, what is the story? Is SL/WinMo development possible, or ?

• Android: How to copy a SQLite database from one application to another

  I have a lite version of an application that uses a SQLite database. I want to copy that database over to the full version of the application when the user installs the full version. I have written some code to perform the file copy, but the lite database file always comes up as unreadable. The file is there and I can point to it, but I can't read it to perform the copy. In the Android documentation, we read: You can save files directly on the device's internal storage. By default, files saved to the internal storage are private to your application and other applications cannot access them (nor can the user). Note the words, "by default". Is there a way that I can override that default and make the SQLite file readable by my other application? Thank you.

• Assembly Microsoft.Xna.Framework.dll does not load

  When trying to load Microsoft.Xna.Framework.dll from any project, it throws a FileNotFoundException. The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E), with no innerException. Even the simple code like the following throws that exception: static void Main(string[] args) { Assembly.LoadFile(@"C:\Microsoft.Xna.Framework.dll"); } I run XP x64, but I've set the platform in the configuration manager to x86, because I know it shouldn't(doesn't) work on x64 or Any CPU. I've manually added the dll file to GAC, but that didn't solve the problem. I have also tried the M$ Assembly Binding Log Viewer to see if those logs had any useful information, but they didn't. Everything, the loading etc, was a success according to them. Any suggestions? please?

• No Microphone error on iPod Touch

  I've build an iPhone app that should work on an iPod Touch as well, but I'm getting reports that the app is not working on iPod touches. It's displaying an error message saying there's no mic available on the device. The thing is, the app does nothing whatsoever with audio, and I can't find anything related in the project settings. The other problem is I don't have an iPod Touch available to test this myself. Are some people running an old firmware version? Am I compiling the wrong firmware version? To my surprise I couldn't find anything about this on SO or Google… Any help is appreciated
