  • JavaScript: A BackSlash as part of the string

    Hello all, I have a JavaScript variable that I echo out using PHP which is shown like this in the page source: var db_1 = 'C:\this\path'; When I set the value of a text field with that variable like so: $('#myinput').val(db_1); The slashes have disappeared and only the other characters are left! Why is this and how can I put the slashes back in?? Thanks all

  • Sequencing ajax requests

    I find I sometimes need to iterate some collection and make an ajax call for each element. I want each call to return before moving to the next element so that I don't blast the server with requests - which often leads to other issues. And I don't want to set async to false and freeze the browser. Usually this involves setting up some kind of iterator context that i step thru upon each success callback. I think there must be a cleaner simpler way? Does anyone have a clever design pattern for how to neatly work thru a collection making ajax calls for each item?

    Hi, I want to find an element by class name. I know it will appear in a particular parent div, so rather than search the entire dom, I'd like to search only the particular div.     Could you confirm I understand this correctly. Using POST, the file specified in xmlhttp.open("GET","ajax_test.asp",true); will not be cached (sent to \Temporary Internet Files) ? It will stay on the server only? If this is true, is the updated html file after calling ajax POST, being updated in the \Temporary Internet Files ? Am I missing any other important information of this mechanism? Thank You.

  • Client side validation script dissapears with $.ajax()

    In my javascript file I'm getting the content of a partial with the following call: $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: value.href.replace(actionType, actionType + 'Partial'), dataType: "html", success: function(result) { $("#DepartmentsAction").html(result); alert(result); } }); Because the partial has the call Html.EnableClientValidation() the resulting html has a static script in it. In the result variable in the ajax call this script is present. In the page where the html gets inserted (#DepartmentsAction) the script has dissapeared. What am I doing wrong?

  • MVC4 not binding a list of basic types

    I cannot, for the life of me, get this data to bind. Here's my JavaScript: var params = { 'InvItemIDs': ["188475", "188490"]}; $.post("api/Orders/OrderFromInventory?" + $.param(params)) and the Controller action: public HttpResponseMessage OrderFromInventory(IList<int> InvItemIDs) { return new HttpResponseMessage(); } I've built the query string so that it's sending: ?InvItemIDs=188475&InvItemIDs=188490 as well as ?InvItemIDs[]=188475&InvItemIDs[]=188490 and even ?InvItemIDs[0]=188475&InvItemIDs[1]=188490 and none of them are binding. InvItemIDs is always null. What am I doing wrong? EDIT: So it turns out all this is a bug (or something) in the new Web API controller code in MVC4. As soon as I moved the exact same code over to a standard controller it started working. I'm still interested if anyone has any insight as to why the Web API would break this binding.

  • Clone elements and load previously loaded scripts

    Hi, I am using clone() to move certain elements into another place in the DOM, but had trouble due to the fact that the scripts previously rendered was not available anymore when called from the cloned elements. The function is called by onKeyUp in the textarea. If the .find is swapped out for a .hiddenDiv the height change is reflected properly.
