  • Best way to store data for Greasemonkey based crawler?

    I want to crawl a site with Greasemonkey and wonder if there is a better way to temporarily store values than with GM_setValue. What I want to do is crawl my contacts in a social network and extract the Twitter URLs from their profile pages. My current plan is to open each profile in it's own tab, so that it looks more like a normal browsing person (ie css, scrits and images will be loaded by the browser). Then store the Twitter URL with GM_setValue. Once all profile pages have been crawled, create a page using the stored values. I am not so happy with the storage option, though. Maybe there is a better way? I have considered inserting the user profiles into the current page so that I could all process them with the same script instance, but I am not sure if XMLHttpRequest looks indistignuishable from normal user initiated requests.

  • .htaccess not working in subfolder

    Hello, I have a couple of sites that are currently under development and I've put them under a specific subfolder for clients/co-workers to view - "http://dev.staffanestberg.com/site-name/". I've run into some problems getting the sites working with .htaccess. I can reach the index page by typing in the url for a site folder but neither img/style/js/etc linking or page rewriting works. Looking for a solution to this, Apache's "RewriteBase" seems to be the most likely one, however I can't get it to work. Tried RewriteBase http://dev.staffanestberg.com/site-name/ RewriteBase /site-name What would be the correct method? Thanks in advance, -Staffan

  • Any open source hosting site for abandoned projects?

    I have some projects which I have ceased their development a long time ago but still get code access requests for. I'm currently providing zipped packages from my personal web site. I think zipped packages are far from being useful (e.g. can't read code right away, can't provide url's to individual source files, can't fork easily, lifetime is dependent on my own web page's). I want that archaic code to be present on the net regardless I keep my web page up or not. I saw the question "What's the best open source hosting site?". However, most sites request the project "to be active", Codeplex for instance. I didn't go through EULA's of all providers to see if they allow abandoned projects. Are there elephant's graveyards for old code without activity restrictions? Which one would you pick, why?

    I have a struts2 action with an @Secured({"ROLE_ADMIN"}) to secure the execute method. In the execute method i assign a message to a member variable of the action, then return SUCCESS and end up on the jsp page. On the page I retrieve the actions member variable with <sroperty. private String greeting; public String execute() throws Exception { this.greeting="Hello"; return SUCCESS; } // getters and setters for greeting ... <s:property value="greeting" /> The problem is when the secured annotation is present the jsp shows nothing for the member variable but when @Secured is removed the whole thing behaves properly and shows the message that was set into the member variable. It appears that the actual security is working ok but when enabled via the annotation the member variable (or maybe the instance of the action) is not making its way onto the value stack. I cant see any error messages.

  • Shift browser contents to the left while viewing in wide screen

    I use a widescreen laptop. Many websites have their content centre aligned. On wider screens this means lot of empty space on left and right. As such this is not a botheration. Many a times, I read some instructions on the web page and type them out on the command prompt. I prefer to overlay the command prompt window on top of the browser and if the browser contents are left aligned (or right aligned), then I need not Alt-tab across these windows. I use Firefox on Ubuntu. I use the command line (konsole) heavily. I know compiz (and similar) tools provides transparent windows so that the content beneath is visible. But I don't want to install compiz or its equivalent because my graphics driver is not all that good. Any addon or simple trick that would shift the page content to the left (or right) would be very helpful (read productive).

  • Wordpress: Not able to retrieve css for new plugin in admin mode

    I'm creating a new plugin which will have it's own css file. The css file resides in the root folder of the plugin. In the plugin section of the admin interface, I have added a few text fields fields. But the CSS is not applied. I'm adding the CSS file using this code: // Register styling add_action('admin_init', 'event_styles'); function event_styles() { wp_register_style('event_cal', plugins_url('eventcall.css',__FILE__)); wp_enqueue_style('event_cal'); } The following code gives me the CSS path: echo plugins_url('eventcall.css',__FILE__); and outputs http://mysite.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-eventcal/eventcall.css If I try to enter this URL directly in the browser, it only shows me the front page. And if I look in the source code using Firebug, where the link to the CSS should be, I only find the entire HTML code for the front page. Am I using wrong code to use backend in admin interface?   • How to show content from contentPlaceholder inline

    Hi, I have a page where i in my masterpage have a toolbar with a "Home" button to the far left. This button is not in a contentplaceholder but on the page. I want to have the opportunity for derived pages to add their own controls or whatever to the toolbar to be whown after the "home" button. But how to do this? I have tried to put in a content placeholder, but it seems that i cannot get it to show inline with the other stuff, it breaks and the content of the contentplaceholder is shown below the button instead. anyone know how to solve this? /Brian

The image is correctly faded on all my computers running IE6, 7 or 8, except for one computer that runs IE7 and doesn't fade the flower, even in noext mode.   • Plone, behaviour of URLs

    The situation is the following: I created a site with Plone, developed, used, but behind a test URL. Now it has to be published, but the test URL is not appropriate and I don't want to move the site. I think, if I use a redirect, it won't be appear in the URL-bar, only in the case of site start page. Am I wrong? (The test URL should not be used, because it will be a "semi-official" site.) What do you suggest to do? As far as I can see Plone uses absolute URLs everywhere. I can add relative URLs, but if I create a new page, a new event, etc., then they have absolute URLs on other automatically generated inner pages. Is there any way to convert these URLs to relative paths? Is there any setting possibilty where only a checkbox changes this default setting?

Due to this certain pages are not rendered correctly or do not function as they are expected to. My question: When client call up to report an issue, how do I check if they have downloaded the cab file or not? Is there any windows folders i need to check for?

    I finally got this google maps page working however, it seems that everybody except the client can see it? They're saying the following error message appears "This web site needs a different Google Maps API key. A new key can be generated at..." Here's the page: http://www.sportingemporium.com/google-map.htm When I sign-up for a new key Goggle gives me exactly the same one that I am already using! When trying to update a record, the update does happen but then throws an error saying "'id' parameter is missing at the statement".   • Post Loading ads from Google Admanager

    I have changed code around to basically load an add the bottom of the page in a hidden div and attached an onload event handler that called document.getElementById(xxx).appendChild() to take the hidden ad and move it into the right spot in my page. This works GREAT.. however when the ad is a text ad it AFTER i move the ad there is nothing in the rendered Iframe. I did tests to see what it looks like before i move it and sure enough the text links load in the IFRAME but the second i do the appendChild call to move the div that contains the ad i seem to loose the contents of the Iframe.   • removed url from google webmaster tool, now goole don't show my website in search

    I developed the site, and I removed the url from google webmaster tool which was like "http://example.com\". I did this because google show this in search with underconstruction Title, which was my previous page. When i completed the website, i removed the url from there, and added sitemap etc to have new copy of site. Now i see in webmaster tools, that all pages are indexed, but still no success. Yahoo and Bing are showing my page when searched. Help me to fix this problem. Regards, vicky

    Hi, I am new to XML and have been trying some simple examples and they work fine. I want to do something like the following, but I am not able to figure out how to go about doing this. I have a HTML web page, where the user types in some data in an input field. I want to take that data, parse it to create an XML string, and the apply XSLT transformation to it, and display the result back on the page. All this needs to be done on the client browser, with JavaScript. If some one could point out the steps or the general procedure to go about doing this, it would be great. I have been looking over the net, but the information is so vast, that I have not been able to locate exactly what I need. Thanks

  • "Cannot load ViewState" after dynamic control changed

    In my ASP.NET page I have to dynamically choose and load a custom control, depending on the selected value in a dropdownlist.However I encountered the following problem: When the parameters of the dynamically loaded control are changed, and then the selection in the dropdownlist is changed( thus forcing me to load a different dynamic control the next time the page reloads ), I end up with a "Cannot load ViewState" exception.I assume that this happens because the ViewState is trying to restore the parameters of the old control and it doesn't find it. So , is there any way to stop the viewstate from attempting to restore the state of the non-existig control?

    Im using wamp server for my php scripts. And Im having difficulties on the logout code. Every time I click on the logout link and then click on the back button on web browser it still shows the page which can only be access by the user who is logged in. I have this code at the beginning of the index.php which is called by the log out link to destroy the session: <?php session_start(); session_destroy(); ?> And I have this at the beginning of the user page: <? session_start(); if(!session_is_registered(myusername)){ header("location:login.php"); } ?> I don't know why the userpage can still be access after the user has logged out. So I'm thinking of disabling the back button when the user has logged out. Please help.

    Form, Redirect and Forward all send an unauthenticated user to a Form on a login page specified within an Authkit middleware application. I'd like to allow a client application to request a service via XHR and then present a custom 'client side' form if a HTTP status code of 401 is returned, which would then post to Authkit for authentication until valid authentication/authorization occured. Specifically, 1) a jquery $.get request might request a resource. 2) if an Authkit cookie check confirmed previous authorization the content would be returned. 3) if not I would like Authkit to simply return the '401 response' (and not redirect to another page, or return a form template) where a client side exception handler would notify the user and present an authentication form. Can Authkit work like this?
