• Solr WordDelimiterFilter + Lucene Highlighter

  I am trying to get the Highlighter class from Lucene to work properly with tokens coming from Solr's WordDelimiterFilter. It works 90% of the time, but if the matching text contains a ',' such as "1,500" the output is incorrect: Expected: 'test 1,500 this' Observed: 'test 11,500 this' I am not currently sure whether it is Highlighter messing up the recombination or WordDelimiterFilter messing up the tokenization but something is unhappy. • NHibernate won't persist DateTime SqlDateTime overflow

  I am working on an ASP.NET MVC project with NHibernate as the backend and am having some trouble getting some dates to write back to my SQL Server database tables. These date fields are NOT nullable, so the many answers here about how to setup nullable datetimes have not helped. Basically when I try to save the entity which has a DateAdded and a LastUpdated fields, I am getting a SqlDateTime overflow exception. I have had a similar problem in the past where I was trying to write a datetime field into a smalldatetime column, updating the type on the column appeared to fix the problem. My gut feeling is that its going to be some problem with the table definition or some type of incompatible data types, and the overflow exception is a bit of a bum steer. I have attached an example of the table definition and the query that NHibernate is trying to run, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. • Exposing model object using bindings in custom NSCell of NSTableView

  I am struggling trying to perform what I would think would be a relatively common task. I have an NSTableView that is bound to it's array via an NSArrayController. The array controller has it's content set to an NSMutableArray that contains one or more NSObject instances of a model class. What I don't know how to do is expose the model inside the NSCell subclass in a way that is bindings friendly. For the purpose of illustration, we'll say that the object model is a person consisting of a first name, last name, age and gender. Thus the model would appear something like this: @interface PersonModel : NSObject { NSString * firstName; NSString * lastName; NSString * gender; int * age; } Obviously the appropriate setters, getters init etc for the class. In my controller class I define an NSTableView, NSMutableArray and an NSArrayController: @interface ControllerClass : NSObject { IBOutlet NSTableView * myTableView; NSMutableArray * myPersonArray; IBOutlet NSArrayController * myPersonArrayController; } Using Interface Builder I can easily bind the model to the appropriate columns: myPersonArray --> myPersonArrayController --> table column binding This works fine. So I remove the extra columns, leaving one column hidden that is bound to the NSArrayController (this creates and keeps the association between each row and the NSArrayController) so that I am down to one visible column in my NSTableView and one hidden column. I create an NSCell subclass and put the appropriate drawing method to create the cell. In my awakeFromNib I establish the custom NSCell subclass: PersonModel * aCustomCell = [[[PersonModel alloc] init] autorelease]; [[myTableView tableColumnWithIdentifier:@"customCellColumn"] setDataCell:aCustomCell]; This, too, works fine from a drawing perspective. I get my custom cell showing up in the column and it repeats for every managed object in my array controller. If I add an object or remove an object from the array controller the table updates accordingly. However... I was under the impression that my PersonModel object would be available from within my NSCell subclass. But I don't know how to get to it. I don't want to set each NSCell using setters and getters because then I'm breaking the whole model concept by storing data in the NSCell instead of referencing it from the array controller. And yes I do need to have a custom NSCell, so having multiple columns is not an option. Where to from here? In addition to the Google and StackOverflow search, I've done the obligatory walk through on Apple's docs and don't seem to have found the answer. I have found a lot of references that beat around the bush but nothing involving an NSArrayController. The controller makes life very easy when binding to other elements of the model entity (such as a master/detail scenario). I have also found a lot of references (although no answers) when using Core Data, but Im not using Core Data. As per the norm, I'm very grateful for any assistance that can be offered!

• Spring Security 3.1 xsd and jars mismatch issue

  I'm Trying to migrate from spring framework 3.0.5 to 3.1 and spring-security 3.0.5 to 3.1 (not to mention hibernate 3.6 to 4.1). Using Apache IVY. • Wordpress add_meta_box() weirdness

  The code below is working nearly flawlessly, however my value for page title on one of my pages keeps coming up empty after a few page refreshes... It sticks for awhile, then it appears to reset to empty. I'm thinking I must have a conflict in the code below, but I can't quite figure it. I'm allowing the user to set a custom page title for posts as well as pages via a custom "post/page title input field). • Atomikos rollback doesn't clear JPA persistence context?

  I have a Spring/JPA/Hibernate application and am trying to get it to pass my Junit integration tests against H2 and MySQL. Currently I am using Atomikos for transactions and C3P0 for connection pooling. Despite my best efforts my DAO integration one of the tests is failing with org.hibernate.NonUniqueObjectException. In the failing test I create an object with the "new" operator, set the ID and call persist on it. @Test @Transactional public void save_UserTestDataNewObject_RecordSetOneLarger() { int expectedNumberRecords = 4; User newUser = createNewUser(); dao.persist(newUser); List<User> allUsers = dao.findAll(0, 1000); assertEquals(expectedNumberRecords, allUsers.size()); } In the previous testmethod I do the same thing (createNewUser() is a helper method that creates an object with the same ID everytime). I am sure that creating and persisting a second object with the same Id is the cause, but each test method is in own transaction and the object I created is bound to a private test method variable. I can even see in the logs that Spring Test and Atomikos are rolling back the transaction associated with each test method. I would have thought the rollback would have also cleared the persistence context too. On a hunch, I added an a call to dao.clear() at the beginning of the faulty test method and the problem went away!! So rollback doesn't clear the persistence context??? If not, then who does??   Is there a full tastypie django example site and setup available for download? I have been wrestling with wrapping my head around it all day. I have the following code. Basically, I have a POST form that is handled with ajax. When I click "submit" on my form and the ajax request runs, the call returns "POST http://192.168.1.110:8000/api/private/client_basic_info/ 404 (NOT FOUND)" I have the URL configured alright, I think. I can access http://192.168.1.110:8000/api/private/client_basic_info/?format=json just fine. Am I missing some settings or making some fundamental errors in my methods? I want to try updating the entry now. Would that just be appending the pk to the ajax url? For example /api/private/client_basic_info/21/? When I submit that form I get a 501 NOT IMPLEMENTED message. What exactly haven't I implemented? I am subclassing ModelResource, which should have all the ORM-related functions implemented according to the docs.

  First some background. I have a batch-type java process run from a DOS batch script. All the java logging goes to stdout, and the batch script redirects the stdout to a file. (This is good for me because I can ECHO from the script and it gets into the log file, so I can see all the java JVM command line args, which is great for debugging.) I may not I use slf4j API, and for the backend I used to use log4j, but recently switched to logback-classic. Although all my application code uses slf4j, I have a third party library that does it's own logging (not using a standard API) which also gets written to stdout. The problem is that sometimes log lines get mixed up and don't cleanly appear on separate lines. So logback must be doing something different. The problem seems to be that although PrintStream.write(byte buf[], int off, int len) is synchronized, however I can see in ch.qos.logback.core.joran.spi.ConsoleTarget that System.out.write(int b) is the only write method called. So inbetween logback outputting each byte, the thirdparty library is managing to write a whole string to the stdout. (Not only is this cause me a problem, but it must also be a little inefficient?) Is there any other fix to this interleaving problem than patching the code to ConsoleTarget so it implments the other write methods? Any nice work arounds. Or should I just file a bug report? • Undefined reference to vtable

  So, I'm getting the infamously horrible "undefined reference to 'vtable..." error for the following code (The class in question is CGameModule.) and I cannot for the life of me understand what the problem is. At first, I thought it was related to forgetting to give a virtual function a body, but as far as I understand, everything is all here. • Wordpress blog with Joomla?

  Hi, I had this Wordpress installation which was installed in a subfolder (not root). Like http: //server/blog/. Now, I installed Joomla on the root (http: //server/). Everything seems to be working fine with the Joomla part. However, the blog part is messed up. If I try to browse the homepage of my blog which is http: //server/blog/ it works like a charm. But while trying to view individual blog pages like say, http: //server/blog/some_category/some_post I get a Joomla 404 page. So, I was wondering if it was possible to use both Wordpress and Joomla in the same server in the setup I am trying to. Let me clarify that I am NOT looking to integrate user login and other such things. I just want the blog to be functional under a subfolder while I run the Joomla site in the root. • Why does this Java code not utilize all CPU cores?

  The attached simple Java code should load all available cpu core when starting it with the right parameters. So for instance, you start it with java VMTest 8 int 0 and it will start 8 threads that do nothing else than looping and adding 2 to an integer. Something that runs in registers and not even allocates new memory. The problem we are facing now is, that we do not get a 24 core machine loaded (AMD 2 sockets with 12 cores each), when running this simple program (with 24 threads of course). Similar things happen with 2 programs each 12 threads or smaller machines. So our suspicion is that the JVM (Sun JDK 6u20 on Linux x64) does not scale well. Did anyone see similar things or has the ability to run it and report whether or not it runs well on his/her machine (= 8 cores only please)? Ideas? • Unable to install Xdebug

  I've registered xdebug in php.ini (as per http://xdebug.org/docs/install) but it's not showing up when i run "php -m" or when i get a test page to run "phpinfo()". I've just installed the latest version of XAMPP. Can anyone provide any suggestions in getting xdebug to show up? • trouble running smooth animation in thread only when using key listener

  first time using a forum for coding help so sorry if i post this all wrong. i have more than a few classes i don't think screenManger or core holds the problem but i included them just incase. i got most of this code working through a set of tutorials. but a certain point started trying to do more on my own. i want to play the animation only when i'm moving my sprite. in my KeyTest class i am using threads to run the animation it used to work (poorly) but now not at all pluss it really gunks up my computer. i think it's because of the thread. im new to threads so i'm not to sure if i should even be using one in this situation or if its dangerous for my computer. the animation worked smoothly when i had the sprite bouce around the screen forever. the animation loop played with out stopping. i think the main problem is between the animationThread, Sprite, and keyTest classes, but itcould be more indepth. if someone could point me in the right direction for making the animation run smoothly when i push down a key and stop runing when i let off it would be greatly apriciated. i already looked at this Java a moving animation (sprite) obviously we were doing the same tutorial. but i feel my problem is slightly different. p.s. sorry for the typos. import java.awt.*; • SQL SERVER – Mirroring Configured Without Domain – The server network address TCP://SQLServerName:50

  Regular readers of my blog will be aware of my friend who called me few days ago with very a funny SQL Problem SQL SERVER – SSMS Query Command(s) completed successfully without ANY Results. This time, it did not take long before he called me up with another interesting problem, although the issue he was facing this time was not that interesting and also very specific to him, however, he insisted me to share with all of you. Let us understand his situation at first. My friend is preparing for DBA exam Exam 70-450: PRO: Designing, Optimizing and Maintaining a Database Server Infrastructure using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and for the same, he was trying to set up replication on his local laptop. He had installed two different instances of SQL Server on his computer and every time when he started the mirroring, it failed with common error message. The server network address “TCP://SQLServer:5023? cannot be reached or does not exist. Check the network address name and that the ports for the local and remote endpoints are operational. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 1418) Well, before he contacted me, he searched online and checked my article written on the error in mirroring. However, he tried all the four suggestions, but it did not solve his problem. He called me at a reasonable time of late evening (unlike last time, which was midnight!). I even tried all the seven different suggestions myself, as previously proposed in my article; however, none of them worked. While looking at closely at services, I noticed something very simple. He was running all the instances on ‘Network Services’. In fact, his computer was a stand-alone computer. There was no network at all. Also, there was no domain or any other advance network concepts implemented. I just changed services from ‘Network Services’ to ‘Local System’ as his SQL Server was running on his local system and there were no network services. This prompted to restart the services. As this was not the production server and his development machine, we restarted the services on the laptop (do not restart services on production server without proper planning). After changing the ‘services log on’ account to localsystem, when he attempted to reconfigure the mirroring it worked right away. As usually in production server, proper domains are configured and advance network concepts are implemented I had never faced this type of problem earlier. My friend insisted to post this solution to his situation, wherein there was no domain configured and setting up mirroring was throwing an error. According to him, this is bound to help people, like him, who are preparing for certification using single system. • Friday Fun: Favorite Games to Play in Chrome

  Online games can provide a perfect break while you are working and being able to choose from a multitude of games makes it even better. If you are a game addict then you will definitely want to have a look at the Game Button extension for Chrome. Game Button in Action Once the extension has finished installing you are ready to enjoy all that gaming goodness. To get started just click on the “Toolbar Button” and choose a game category. For our example we chose “Shooting Games”. Once you select a game category a new window will open. Towards the lower right corner you will be able to access a scrollable drop-down menu and choose the game that you would like to play. Note: Some of these games come with sounds that can not be turned off so you may want to have the volume lowered all the way or your speakers temporarily turned off if you are at work. For our first game we chose “Snowball Throw”. Notice that there is a nice variety such as “DinoKids – Archery” to games like “Secret Agent”. You can see that our game was nicely sized…not too small and not too large. Go go snowballs! This is definitely a fun one to try…the best approach for this one is to use one hand for clicking the mouse and the other hand for moving it at the same time. If desired you can post your score and see other high scores afterwards. For our second game we decided to try “Target Shooter Firing Range”. This one is definitely a little harder because you have to be extremely precise while moving as quickly as possible. Not too bad for the score but that is ok. You will certainly be able to have fun finding the games that will become your favorites while enjoying the nice variety. Conclusion If you love online games and want a good variety to choose from then the Game Button extension will make a nice addition to your browser. • Turn Non-Resizeable Windows into Rezieable Windows

  Are you frustrated with Windows app windows that can not be resized at all? Now you can apply some “attitude adjustment” and resize those windows with ResizeEnable. Before Everyone is familiar with the many app windows in their Windows OS that simply can not be resized. What you need is cooperation, not attitude. For our example we chose the “Taskbar and Start Menu Properties Window”…notice the cursor in the lower right corner. No resizing satisfaction available at all… After The program comes in a zip file with three files as shown here. Once you have unzipped the program place it in an appropriate “Program Files Folder”, create a shortcut, and you are ready to go. There will be a “System Tray Icon” with only two “Context Menu” items…“About & Quit”. Here is a quick look at the “About Window” that tells you exactly what ResizeEnable does. Notice that it does state that you may occasionally have a window that may not respond correctly. Now back to our “Taskbar and Start Menu Properties Window”. Notice the resizing cursor in the lower right corner….time for some fun! During our test the “Taskbar and Start Menu Properties Window” was suddenly a dream to resize. Daring to stretch the window even further…now that is what you call “stretching” the window out in comparison to its’ original size! Think of all the windows that will be much easier to work with now… Conclusion If you have been frustrated with non-resizeable windows then ResizeEnable will certainly bring a smile to your face as you watch those windows suddenly become a lot more cooperative. Here is the default view when you open Mini Google Maps for the first time. Things that we really liked about this extension were: Three different aerial views available (Map, Satellite, & Terrain) Three different viewing sizes available (and the extension remembers your chosen size) The ability to get directions in combination with a map We decided to try each of the viewing sizes available…here you can see the “Medium Setting”. Notice that the scale stays the same but you get more territory included to view. Then the “Large Setting”…which we infinitely preferred to the others. Once again look at the amount of territory included by default…very nice. Switching over to the “Satellite View”… Followed by the “Terrain View”. For our first example we decided to peek at Vancouver, British Columbia. After zooming out a little bit we had a very nice looking map. For the next test we asked for directions from Vancouver to Toronto. Both the directions and map turned out very well. And just for fun we looked up Paris, France with the “Satellite View”. Conclusion If you find yourself needing to view a map or get directions often then the Mini Google Maps extension will be a very useful tool for you.
