  GRRRRRRRRRRRR!(#Y%)@#!! They bragged they now have a very easy installation! I don't get it. I entered the MSDN "Disk 5000: Developer Tools" DVD, opened default.htm, clicked on the "Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2010" link. The VSTFS2010 folder open. I click autorun.exe. And then I get "Microsoft Visual Studio Agents 2010 Setup". I don't get it. Why "agents"? I wanted to instal a server!

• Roaming Profiles: Best Practices

  I want to setup roaming profiles for about 50 users. What is the best way to go about doing this? What are the best practices. I've read about desktops/my Documents being TOO big. How big is too big? We have a few users who keep a lot of media on their machine to listen to throughout the day. I would imagine they have a few gigs of MP3's in their My Documents folder. How do you deal with this? Thanks!

• install android sdk on kubuntu

  I'm trying to follow the instructions for installing the android sdk found here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/adding-packages.html After i've unpackaged and i run the android program under tools, I don't get all the options that I'm supposed to. The only 2 folders that show up are tools, and extras. Under tools, it only shows the "Android SDK Tools" with the status "Installed". Under the "extas" folder, I have nothing. I've made sure that my http: proxy settings are correct. And I've checked the logs. there are no errors. According to the android developer site, I'm supposed to install the SDK platform tools. has anyone tried this on ubuntu? I also checked and saw others were instructed to do an apt-get install ia32-libs but it failed for me. Besides which, I am running the 32bit os... so I don't think i would need to install that... ?? I've also tried following the instructions found here: http://forums.team-nocturnal.com/showthread.php/772 But... • sudo access for desktop actions in Gnome/KDE?

  I feel kinda silly asking this question. I'm using CentOS 5.4 and KDE. I downloaded an archive and I want to drag/drop the contents into a folder that I need root access to write to. I can obviously go into terminal and sudo blah blah. But how do I get sudo access for desktop procedures? Like for simple dragging and dropping of files? KDE just tells me that I don't have permission to do that, but doesn't give me the option of entering the root password or sudo.

Because I found that the folder that holds the VMWare image goes to 8GB and want to shrink the size by using the utilities tool provided by the VMWare Image Player. However, I found that the button is disabled like this. Question How to enable the button so that I can use it to shrink the size of virtual image used by ubuntu? • What are some efficient ways to set up my environment when working on a remote site?

  Hello fellow Programmers, I am still a relatively new programmer and have recently gotten my first on-campus programming position. I am the sole dev responsible for 8 domains as well as 3 small sized PHP web apps. The campus has its web environment divided into staging and live servers -- we develop on the staging via SFTP and then push the updates to the live server through a web GUI. I use Sublime Text 2 and the Sublime SFTP plugin currently for all my dev work (its my preferred editor). If I am just making an edit to a page I'll open that individual file via the ftp browser. If I am working on the PHP web app projects, I have the app directory mapped to a local folder so that when I save locally the file is auto-uploaded through Sublime SFTP. I feel like this workflow is slow and sub-optimal. How can I improve my workflow for working with remote content? I'd love to set up a local environment on my machine as that would eliminate the constant SFTP upload/download, but as I said there are many sites and the space required for a local copy of the entire domain would be quite large and complex; not to mention keeping it updated with whatever the latest on the staging server is would be a nightmare. Anyone know how I can improve my general web dev workflow from what I've described? I'd really like to cut out constantly editing over FTP but I'm not sure where to start other than ripping the entire directory and dumping it into XAMP.

• VMware vCetner tomcat log files missing

  I have upgraded to a trial version of vCenter 5.1 from 5.0. Previous versions used to have tomcat log files inside the tomcat\logs folder. But since I have update I have noticed that tomcat is not writing any new log files. The log files were of the following format: vctomcat-stderr.XXXX-XX-XX.log vctomcat-stdout.XXXX-XX-XX.log I would like to know if there is a way by which we can configure tomcat (which is shipped with vCenter) to produces these log files? Also, VMware seems to have removed that Configure Tomcat application that they used to ship with the older version. Any reasons for this?

• The right way to add images to Monogame/Windows

  I'm starting out with MonoGame. For now, I'm only targeting Windows (desktop -- not Windows 8 specifically). I've used a couple of XNA products in the past (raw XNA, FlatRedBall, SilverSprite), so I may have a misunderstanding about how I should add images to my content. How do I add images to my project? Currently, I created a new Monogame project, added a folder called "Content," and added images under there; the only caveat is that I need to set the Copy to Output Directory action to one of the Copy ones. It seems strange, because my "raw" XNA project just last week had a Content project in it (XNA Framework Content Pipeline, according to VS2010), which compiled my images to XNB (I think). It seems like Monogame doesn't use the same content pipeline, but I'm not sure. Edit: My question is not about "how do I get the XNA content pipeline to work with Monogame." My question is "why would I want to use the XNA content pipeline in Monogame?" Because there are (at least) two solutions (that I see today): Add the images to the Monogame project and set the Copy to Output Directory options to copy. Add a XNA content pipeline project and add my images to that instead; reference it from my MOnogame project. Which solution should I use, and why? I currently have a working version with the first option.

• Using unsigned drivers in Windows 8

  I just migrated from Windows 7 x64 to 8, but I can't get my VPN software to run anymore : the SafeNet IKE service (installed by SafeNet SoftRemoteLT GA, used by my VPN provider) cannot start anymore. I found that by default unsigned drivers are disabled on Win8, and that is what is blocking the driver. The System event log tells me that the driver (apparently, C:\WINDOWS\SysWow64\Drivers\IPSECDRV.sys ) was blocked when I try to manually start the service (SafeNet IKE Service). I get the same messages for another driver, crypto.sys found in the same folder. I tried using bcdedit to enable unsigned drivers : bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS bcdedit /set testsigning ON After reboot, same error. I tried by booting into Win 8's test mode, same issue. Applying the code signing policy (Enabled, Ignore) does not help either. Running gpresult does show that the policy is applied. Any help welcome.

• How do I easily elevate when running a .jar file?

  When trying to run an installer Jar file, I am getting an error saying that write access is denied to create a directory under the Program Files folder. Right click - Run as Administrator is not available on Jar files (I assume because it is Java.exe that consumes them - they are not themselves treated as directly executable by the shell). What is the quickest and simplest way to run a .Jar file with elevation? I am evaluating this tool to recommend for our dev team, and they will manually install it on their boxes. I'd prefer an option that doesn't require them to type anything.

• mini-dinstall chmod 0600 changes file: Operation not permitted

  I'm getting "Operation not permitted" in the mini-dinstall.log everytime a new debian package has been uploaded on the custom debian repository using dput. The deb file is installed successfuly but the changes file remains in the incoming folder. I can not use a post-install script when the changes file can not be processed. How can I fix this problem? • Map ftp servers as network drives in Ubuntu Linux

  Hi everybody! I'm a new Linux user, just switched over from Windows. I've got a couple FTP servers I connect to on a regular basis through sftp. I was wondering if there was a way to, as we say in windows, map them as network drives in Linux, so I can just copy stuff into a drive or folder and it will just map it to the server by ftp. That would be pretty cool. Anybody know how this would be possible, and how to do it? I Can't see to find anything in the literature. I'm running Ubuntu 9.04. Thanks!

• Batch Convert .mkv to .mp4 with VLC

  i want to batch convert all .mkv file in a folder into .mp4 with vlc. it should use the original video-/audio-stream and if possible the .ass subtitle of the .mkv. so its not really a convert, its more changing the container. (my player cant read the mkv) if i do this conversion by hand (manually) it works, but i have a lot of mkv to convert, so it would take a lot of time. i have searched the internet for a batch file to do this and i found a few and tried to modify them to my wish, but all attempts i tried just created a .mp4 file that doesn't contain the audio-stream and the video-stream also cannot be rendered by all my mediaplayers on the pc. so i would be very thankful, if you could tell me how the batch have to look like, so it works with original video-/audio-stream (maybe .ass subtitle)

Please check error log.'; } ?> I get the Mail sent message but don't receive a message in my inbox. Not even in the spam folder. Anything wrong I'm doing?

• Forwarding Emails From Inbox Only

  I have a forward setup on one of our public facing email addresses to a few users outside of our system (to an external address). Seeing as it's public (printed on a website in plain text), we get TONS of spam on that account. We're being marked as a SPAM source due to the forwarding by the external system. We have pretty aggressive IMF (Intelligent Message Filtering) setup, and it works great for internal messages. The problem we're facing is that Exchange is forwarding ALL the email received on that account, and not just the messages that pass the IMF (and don't get pushed into Junk). As far as I can tell, there's no way to adjust the IMF settings for that one account. And as far as I can tell, there's no way to setup folder forwarding (inbox - external address) from Exchange. Is there something I'm missing or is there any way around these issues that I may be missing? Thanks...

I checked The SharePoint site: http :// 'serverName'/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx and have full sitewide and project permissions on this site. I loaded SQL Server Management Studio on the machine running the instance of TFS (and also the SQL backend for TFS) and ensured that I had roles "serveradmin" and "sysadmin". How do I run this report? Specifically, what permissions are required?

• I Can't run the Netbeans but I installed successfully

  I'm new to Ubuntu as well as Netbeans. I installed Netbeans, and I've made sure to install all the JDKs and JREs I could find. It installed without errors. I also saw this question and made sure I followed all the instructions there as well. I never got any error messages of any kind. So far as I know, it installed okay. However, when I try to run Netbeans, I get the message in the bottom of the Netbeans IDE like this: ant -f /root/NetBeansProjects/samp1 -Djsp.includes=/root/NetBeansProjects/samp1/build/web/one.jsp -DforceRedeploy=false -Dclient.urlPart=/one.jsp -Ddirectory.deployment.supported=true -Djavac.jsp.includes=org/apache/jsp/one_jsp.java -Dnb.wait.for.caches=true run /root/NetBeansProjects/samp1/nbproject/build-impl.xml:774: The libs.CopyLibs.classpath property is not set up. This property must point to org-netbeans-modules-java-j2seproject-copylibstask.jar file which is part of NetBeans IDE installation and is usually located at <netbeans_installation>/java<version>/ant/extra folder. • Groovy Grapes in NetBeans IDE

  The start of Groovy Grapes support in NetBeans IDE. Below you see a pure Groovy project, with the Groovy JAR and the Ivy JAR automatically on its classpath. There's also a Groovy script that makes use of a @Grab annotation. In the bottom left, in the Services window, you also see a Grape Repository browser, i.e., showing you the JARs that are currently in ".groovy/grapes". Click the images below to get a better look at them. Next, you see what happens when the project is run. The @Grab annotation automatically starts downloading the JARs that are needed and puts them into the ".groovy/grapes" folder. However, the "no suitable classloader found for grab" error message (which Google shows is a problem for lots of developers) prevents the application from running successfully: The final screenshot shows that I've put the JARs that I need onto the classpath of the project. I did that manually, hoping to learn from the NetBeans Maven project or the NetBeans Gradle project how to do that automatically. Also note that the @Grab annotation has been commented out. Now the error message about the classloader is avoided and the project runs. What needs to happen for Groovy Grapes support to be complete in NetBeans IDE: Figure out how to add the downloaded JARs to the project classpath automatically. Fix the refresh problem in the Grape Repository browser, i.e., right now the refresh doesn't happen automatically yet. Hopefully find a way to get around the grab classloader problem, i.e., it's not ideal that one needs to comment out the annotation. Let the user specify a different Grape repository, i.e., right now ".groovy/grapes" is assumed, but the user should be able to point the repository browser to something different. Maybe there should be support for multiple Grape repositories? Comments/feedback/help is welcome.

• Two users using the same same user profile while not in a domain.

  I have a windows server 2003 acting as a terminal server, this computer is not a member of any domain. We demo our product on the server by creating a user account. The person logs in uses the demo for a few weeks and when they are done we delete the user account. However every time we do this it creates a new folder in C:\Documents and Settings\. I know with domains you can have many users point at one profile and make it read only so all changes are dumped afterwords, but is there a way to do that when the machine is not on a domain? I would really like it if I didn't have to remote in and clean up the folders every time.

• One samba directory is very slow

  We have a RHEL server running as a samba server for our Windows network which has been running fine for ages. All of a sudden this morning one specific folder became really slow and sometimes inaccessible. It's the /home/ directory (containing all of the user specific stuff, like their windows desktops, documents etc). It's not only really slow over the network, but when I try to use ls to view the directory it just hangs. In the main web directly I have added a folder /images/sub_folder and in this sub_folder I have put a bunch of pictures. I do not want anyone to be able to simply access these pictures directly from the web, so I made a .htaccess file in that sub_folder and just put the following line in it: deny from all There doesn't seem to be any effect, I can still access the images directly from a web browser. I have restarted the Apache service. What am I doing wrong? Thanks Tim

  I am getting this error on almost all of the operations on a Windows 7 pro 32 bit machine. By operations I mean anything I do. Update a repo from subversion. Access a local IIS Site. Copy a big folder. Run an installer.and sometime if I try again. It get solved. I think there is something wrong wit windows7 . I searched around and found posts suggesting to increase IRPStackSize value in registry I did that no Luck. I am using Microsoft Security Essentials Version: 1.0.1961.0 as my antivirus package Once this errors starts popping up. I have to restart and then in after some random time. It starts showing up again. Any help is appreciated. I am losing lot of my time in restarting my system or retrying again and again.
