• Table Adaptor Error when trying update

  Hi, I have a rather perplexing issue. I am using VB.net and SQL for my project. I have a database, to which the connection works. I also have a data table and data adaptor, both of which I know work. I am trying to update something in the database, yet it isn't working. Assume everything listed is declared correctly. What am I doing wrong? teacher_control_table.Rows(0)("DATA_TeacherLockPasscode") = txtPasscode1.Text table_adaptor2.Update(teacher_control_table) That last line throws the following exception: InvalidOperationException was unhandled. update requires a valid UpdateCommand when passed DataRow collection with modified rows.

• Resources access problem from JAR

  I have the following directory structure of a project: Folder "project" in Eclipse: --folder "src" --folder "resources" ----trayicon2.png --folder "db" ----test.db --folder "bin" I'm accessing the image with: Image image = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getImage("resources/trayicon2.png"); and from Eclipse that is not a problem. Then I generate an "executable jar file", and add the dirs, making a directory structure of: Folder "project" --folder "db" ----test.db --folder "resources" ----trayicon2.png --project.jar And now the image is no more accessible. Also, the database is no more accessible; while in Eclipse I used to access it with: Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:sqlite:db/test.db"); How can I access the resources (images and db) after generating the jar file "project.jar"?

• How to terminate a managed thread blocked in unmanaged code?

  I have a managed thread which is waiting, blocked, in an unmanaged code (specifically, it on a call to NamedPipeServerStream.WaitForConnection() which ultimitely calls into unmanaged code, and does not offer a timeout). I want to shut the thread down neatly. Thread.Abort() has no effect until the code returns to the managed realm, which it won't do until a client makes a connection, which we can't wait for). I need a way "shock" it out of the unmanaged code; or a way to just kill the thread even while it's in unmanaged land.

• Is select() Ok to implemnet single socket read/write timeout ?

  I have an application processing network communication with blocking calls. Each thread manages a single connection. I've added a timeout on the read and write operation by using select prior to read or write on the socket. Select is known to be inefficient when dealing with large number of sockets. But is it ok, in term of performance to use it with a single socket or are there more efficient methods to add timeout support on single sockets calls ? The benefit of select is to be portable.

I have a test which looks like // As no connection from my machine, it should fail .. shouldFailWithCause(RuntimeException){ barcodeServices.cancelBarcodeDetails() } The test fails cause it's catching a myCommsException rather than the RuntimeException i thought i'd converted it to .. Anyone care to point out what i'm doing wrong ? Also will the fact that it's not a RuntimeException mean any transaction related info done before my try/catch actually be written out rather than thrown away ?? Thanks

• Would like help with LOGON Trigger

  I've created a logon trigger in MS SQL that needs to check dm_exec_sessions for a login. This login is the user listed in the connection string and has owner right to the database. If the login is verified, I need it to update a specific table and send an email. So far I've done just the following piece and it disabled my web site. The error I get is: "Logon failed for login 'dev' due to trigger execution. Changed database context to 'mydatabase'. Changed language setting to us_english." Any idea what I did wrong?   I use the Magento block cache for the top navigation block. The problem is the block has to generate some urls for files in the skin directory that cannot be put into css files as the file names depend on category model data. Now when I open magento using a secure connection (https://) the navigation block is fetched from the cache and is sent to the browser but with the http:// urls resulting in a warning in most browsers about unsecure elements on the page. I'd like the have separat caches for secure and unsecure connections. • Does TCP actually define 'TCP server' and 'TCP clients'? [closed]

  In the Wikipedia article, TCP communication is explained using the terms 'client' and 'server'. It also uses the word 'peers'. But TCP actually does not define "TCP clients" and "TCP servers" - In the RFC 675 document (SPECIFICATION OF INTERNET TRANSMISSION CONTROL PROGRAM), the word "client" never appears. The RFC explains that TCP is used to connect processes over ports (sockets), and that 'A pair of sockets form a CONNECTION which can be used to carry data in either direction [i.e. full duplex]. Calling the originating party the "client" seems to be common practice. But this client/server communication model is not always applicable to TCP communication. For example take peer-to-peer networks. Calling all processes which open a socket (and wait for incoming connections from peers) "TCP servers", sounds wrong to me. I would not call my uncle's telephone device a "Telephony server" if I dial his phone number and he picks up.

• Quicklfix related question(FIX::Application)

  I am trying to use FIX::Application along with SessionSettings. The Fix server I am trying to connect to does not see any incoming connection. From my side I see a Logon Message being formulated in toAdmin() callback(which I print out and add certain fields to. The Question is 1. Do I need to call some form of sendTarget in toAdmin?(I tried that but get a Session not found error) 2. Is there anyway I can increase logging(start logging whats going on under the hood). Thanks

• FTP - way to programatically determine time remaining or bytes transfered?

  Hi all I want to make an FTP connection (ideally using Coldfusion 8, but Java is fine too) that will copy a file to a remote server. Crucially however, I want to know how many bytes have been transferred so I can give some feedback to the user. Is this possible, and if so what FTP API would you recommend as I understand the Sun implementation may be a bit lacking. Thanks in advance! PS: I could have another process/thread poll the file size on the destination machine via a web service call while the file is being transferred but it's not ideal. Getting it through FTP API would be the neatest solution.

  Hi I am making a restful request to google map, but I run into following error; java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 400 for URL: http://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/distancematrix/xml?origins=Washington, DC USA&destinations=Los+Angeles+CA+USA&mode=driving&sensor=false at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(HttpURLConnection.java:1436) at java.net.URLConnection.getContent(URLConnection.java:688) I believe its making a correct connection as I can get the correct response by copying the above URL into my browser, I am wondering why I am getting 400 error code in my console and I dont get the correct response when java is sending the request.

  In dbc.php I have where the connection to the mysql db gets made, and all my functions is there. dbc.php is included on all my files. Now all functions are in dbc.php and i would like to sort out alittle. I was thinking about putting all form_*() functions to form_api.php, and then include it in dbc.php. But will this work? Can i just include inside a file i included? Or should i use require/include_once ? help me out thank you

• Can't connect to MySQL database hosted in CloudBees

  I have a free CloudBees account and created a free ClearDB database using their wizards. My trouble is when I use their connection information (whether I try to connect from my Java app, or an outside tool - SQLyog to be exact) I take the error: Access denied for user 'b51dbc5757d79f'@'%' to database 'mywiki. The username provided by CloudBees does not contain those extra characters that the error message is displaying which seems like it would be a problem, but I'm not sure there is anything I can do about that since everything is configured for me. The username I am given is: b51dbc5757d79f - which I can delete and rebuild after sharing here :)

• Browser, upload large file

  I'm looking for a way to allow a user to upload a large file (~1gb) to my unix server using a web page and browser. There are a lot of examples that illustrate how to do this with a traditional post request, however this doesn't seem like a good idea when the file is this large. I'm looking for recommendations on the best approach. Bonus points if the method includes a way of providing progress information to the user. For now security is not a major concern, as most users who will be using the service can be trusted. We can also assume that the connection between client and host will not be interrupted (or if it is they have to start over).

  I have a network server application written in C, the listener is bound using INADDR_ANY so it can accept connections via any of the IP addresses of the host on which it is installed. I need to determine which of the server's IP addresses the client used when establishing its connection - actually I just need to know whether they connected via the loopback address 127.0.0.1 or not. • SQLITE - INSERT does not return error but no data is inserted.

The same insert statement works from within a query analyzer. Do I need to perform a commit? Is there a Commit method?   I cannot figure out the issue with my code here. I am trying to take info from the table, then subtract 1 second from Current_Time which looks like '2:00'. • SubSonic 3.0 two different Databases namespace Issue

  My question is simple, I have two databases with the same scehema, one is live database say DLive and other one is testbed say DTestBed.... However, I want to use the same database namespace for both database. How can I achieve that without changing namespace in my code all over? Sometimes you need to do builds for live and testbeds in the same day ! Its really hard to change big project namespaces everytime you build.   I am trying to use Bluetooth in WP8 to send an image from my app on a device and show it in my app on another device. The receiver has a StreamSocket object to read the data from it like the code below await _dataReader.LoadAsync(4); uint messageLen = (uint)_dataReader.ReadInt32(); await _dataReader.LoadAsync(messageLen); string imageData _dataReader.ReadString(messageLen); Then I have to save all the received data (image) on the device and then create a Stream object from the stored data to give it to the BitmapSource.SetSource(Stream) function to be able to show this image on my app. var image = new BitmapImage(); image.SetSource(stream); All I want to do is not to skip this double work and directly convert the StreamSocket object (from Bluetooth connection) to a Stream object and make the BitmapSource image. Is there any way to do this?

• How do you enable Dialer and Mobile Data Settings?

  I have a rockchip based Android tv box with heavily modified firmware. The box does not support 3g by default and I am trying to get the mobile data connection to work. I have understood that the Phone.apk and telephony provider apk has to be installed to /system/app. The logs report that the mobile data is enabled and the the phone service is running. However there is no mobile data in Settings and the Dialer app is not shown in launcher application list. What prevents them from showing up ?

• Sending a large file over network continuously

  Hello, We need to write software that would continuously (i.e. new data is sent as it becomes available) send very large files (several Tb) to several destinations simultaneously. Some destinations have a dedicated fiber connection to the source, while some do not. Several questions arise: We plan to use TCP sockets for this task. What failover procedure would you recommend in order to handle network outages and dropped connections? What should happen upon upload completion: should the server close the socket? If so, then is it a good design decision to have another daemon provide file checksums on another port? Could you recommend a method to handle corrupted files, aside from downloading them again? Perhaps I could break them into 10Mb chunks and calculate checksums for each chunk separately? Thanks.
