  Is there any way you can overwrite a line in PHP. let me be a little more clearer using examples.   I'm writing a utility that takes in a .resx file and creates a javascript object containing properties for all the name/value pairs in the .resx file. This is all well and good, until one of the values in the .resx is This dealer accepts electronic orders. /r/nClick to order {0} from this dealer. I'm adding the name/value pairs to the js object like this: streamWriter.Write(string.Format("\n{0} : \"{1}\"", kvp.Key, kvp.Value)); When kvp.Value = "This dealer accepts electronic orders./r/nClick to order {0} from this dealer." This causes StreamWriter.Write() to actually place a newline in between 'orders.' and 'Click', which naturally screws up my javascript output. I've tried different things with @ and without using string.Format, but I've had no luck. Any suggestions?

• How does ImageView just redraw part of its content when invalidate(Rect) is called?

  Hi, guys I am new to Android development, just reading docs and trying the APIs. I am quit confused how ImageView managed to draw just a part of its content after an invalidate(Rect) invocation. I've checked ImageView.java, found no other drawing method except onDraw(Canvas), but onDraw(Canvas) only cut the drawable only if it is beyound the view's visible boundary. I also read the implementation of View.invalidate(Rect), I think the key of this function is calling to mParent.invalidateChild(this, r); However, I think the parent view doesn't know how to draw the child in the given Rect, it finally has to call some method of it child to paint out. Has anybody investigated this part of codes? Would you please give me some guide?

• Clone DB table row through MVC in SQL Server

  Is there a simple solution for duplicating table rows in SQL Server as well as all table rows with foreign keys pointing to the cloned table row? I've got a "master" table and a bunch of "child" tables which have a foreign key into the ID of the master table. I need to not only create a perfect copy of the master table, but clone each and every child table referencing the master table. Is there a simpler way to do this than creating a new row in the master table, copying in the information from the row to be cloned, then going through each child table and doing the same with each row pointing to the cloned row in the master table? I'm using a SQL Server 2005 Database accessed through C# ASP.net MVC 1.0.

• Using a check contraint in MySQL for controlling string length

  I'm tumbled with a problem! I've set up my first check constraint using MySQL, but unfortunately I'm having a problem. When inserting a row that should fail the test, the row is inserted anyway. The structure: CREATE TABLE user ( id INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, uname VARCHAR(10) NOT NULL, fname VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL, lname VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL, mail VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (id), CHECK (LENGTH(fname) > 30) ); The insert statement: INSERT INTO user VALUES (null, 'user', 'Fname', 'Lname', '[email protected]'); The length of the string in the fname column should be too short, but it's inserted anyway. I'm pretty sure I'm missing something basic here.

Why is offline memcache servers added to the $realInstance server pool together with the online servers? Reading the memcache documentation confuses me even more: http://www.php.net/manual/en/memcache.addserver.php status Controls if the server should be flagged as online. Setting this parameter to FALSE and retry_interval to -1 allows a failed server to be kept in the pool so as not to affect the key distribution algorithm. Requests for this server will then failover or fail immediately depending on the memcache.allow_failover setting. Default to TRUE, meaning the server should be considered online. Thanks,

How to do this? I guess i need to search in json_decode($_SESSION["animals"],true) resulting array and find the parent key to remove but i'm stucked anyways.

  We are using ankhsvn to check in our .net code, however I have two issues with our setup that I want to resolve. 1\ I thought a key reason to have a tool like svn is that you can rollback to an earlier version of your codebase. If developers are just checking in code, then how can you get version 1.1 (say the current production build), out of subversion? 2\ In VS you have the concept of solutions, many solutions might use the same project. How do I make sure when a developer checks out a solution, they get the appropriate versions of the projects that belong to that solution?

• Keeping iPhone application in sync with GWT application.

  Hi, I'm working on an iPhone application that should work in offline and online modes. In it's online mode it's supposed to feed all the information the user enters to a webservice backed by GWT/GAE. In it's offline mode it's supposed to store the information locally, and when connection is available sync it up to the web service. Currently my plan is as follows: Provide a connection between an app and a webservice using Protobuffers for efficient over-the-wire communication Work with local DB using Core Data Poll the network status, and when available sync the database and keep some sort of local-db-to-remote-db key synchronization. The question is - am I in the right direction? Are the standard patterns for implementing this? Maybe someone can point me to an open-source application that works in a similar fashion? I am really new to iPhone coding, and would be very glad to hear any suggestions. Thanks

• Implement keyboard control in JavaScript Grid

  I finished building a JavaScript grid control, end everything works fine. Paging, button navigation, column sorting, etc. The cells in the grid are DIVs which are generated using Mootools 1.2.4 (which is heavily used throughout the control). I want to implement keyboard control for the grid, both for paging (page up/page down) and for moving with arrow keys inside the rows/cells of the grid. I think that I have to attach an event handler on each cell of the grid and detect what key is being pressed in order to take an appropriate action. But, I can't set the focus on the cells. What am I missing? How do I do this? Any help is appreciated.

Can i get the output like below by using a query? I need the dates in one month to be columns and the value of the date columns will be values in the status column. The number of date records per studentID is the same its the number of dates in the attendanceDate filed that is unknown. studentID---------2010-03-17--------2010-03-19------2010-03-20 1004-----------------------------0----------------------0--------------------1 etc. This is for a creating a report so I need to do it in a query. Please help if you can.

  I have a Django form that uses an integer field to lookup a model object by its primary key. The form has a save() method that uses the model object referred to by the integer field. I supposed i can do it via relation between Id and Parent Id ( and set cascade for delete rule ) , But when i do that in MMS , the Delete Rule or Update Rule in Properties is disabled . My question is , What can i do to accomplish this ? Thank you

  Hi guys, I have a table: Category with some sort of categories category1 category2 category3 I have another table Subcategory which has a fk to Category. So, each category1 can have subcategoryB, subcategoryA, subcategoryZ. Well... i've made two repeaters. The first one is binded to a linq data source which takes the categories from the parent table. The children repeater is binded to that foreign key like: DataSource='<%# Eval("Subcategories_1s") %' So the result is: category1 subcategoryB subcategoryA subcategoryZ category2 etc. Well, the strange question is: how can i order the subcategories alphabetically? If i'd have binded the children repeater to a linq it would be easy. But in this case...?

I'd like to sort that with the m's value. So, if I print the map, I'd like to get the result like m[6] = 1 m[2] = 5 m[4] = 6 m[1] = 10 this. How can I sort like this way? Is there any way that I can deal with the key and value with sorted values?

• How to control order of assignment for new identity column in mssql ?

  I have a table with CreateDate datetime field default(getdate()) that does not have any identity column. I would like to add identity(1,1) field that would reflect same order of existing records as CreateDate field (order by would give same results). How can I do that ? I guess if I create clustered key on CreateDate field and then add identity column it will work (not sure if it's guaranteed), is there a good/better way ? I am interested in sql 2005, but I guess the answer will be the same for sql 2008, sql 2000.

How do I find out, if the user owns an entire street? street table with columns (id/name) house table with columns (id/street_id [foreign key] owner table with columns (id/house_id/user_id) [join table with foreign keys] So far, I'm using count which returns the result: select count(*), street_id from owner left join house on owner.house_id = house.id group by street_id where user_id = 1 count(*) | street_id 3 | 1 2 | 2 A more general count: select count(*) from house group by street_id returns: count(*) | street_id 3 | 1 3 | 2 How can I find out, that user 1 owns the entire street 1 but not street 2? • How can I remove sensitive data from the debug_backtrace function?

  I am using print_r(debug_backtrace(), true) to retrieve a string representation of the debug backtrace. This works fine, as print_r handles recursion. When I tried to recursively iterate through the debug_backtrace() return array before turning it into a string it ran into recursion and never ended. Is there some simple way I can remove certain sensitive key/value pairs from the backtrace array? Perhaps some way to turn the array to a string using print_r, then back to an array with the recursive locations changed to the string RECURSION, which I could the iterate through. I don't want to execute regular expressions on the string representation if possible.

• Catching constraint violations in JPA 2.0.

  Consider the following entity class, used with, for example, EclipseLink 2.0.2 - where the link attribute is not the primary key, but unique nontheless. @Entity public class Profile { @Id private Long id; @Column(unique = true) private String link; // Some more attributes and getter and setter methods } When I insert records with a duplicate value for the link attribute, EclipseLink does not throw a EntityExistsException, but throws a DatabaseException, with the message explaining that the unique constraint was violated. This doesn't seem very usefull, as there would not be a simple, database independent, way to catch this exception. What would be the advised way to deal with this? A few things that I have considered are: Checking the error code on the DatabaseException - I fear that this error code, though, is the native error code for the database; Checking the existence of a Profile with the specific value for link beforehand - this obviously would result in an enormous amount of superfluous queries.
