  • Is DateTime.ParseExact() faster than DateTime.Parse()

    I would like to know if ParseExact is faster than Parse. I think that it should be ParseExact since you already gave the format but I also think all the checking for the Culture info would slow it down. Does microsoft say in any document on performance difference between the two. The format to be used is a generic 'yyyy/MM/dd' format .

    I am using CKEditor/CKFinder as wysiwyg editor on my MVC.NET site. I have set [ValidateInput(false)] and it works when debugging it locally, but I receive the following error when I have published the site: A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client (message="<p> <em>Testing</e..."). can anyone explain why the published site is different from the locally site, especially when I have set [ValidateInput(false)]?

These views are now generating this exception: Server cannot set status after HTTP headers have been sent. What has changed from MVC1 to MVC2 to cause this and is there any way to fix this?

When the hour, minute and AM PM indicator are set and the time is returned how can I identify whether the end-user has selected AM or PM?   • Turn Excel spreadsheet into a formula

    I have an Excel spreadsheet that has a complex computation that is not trivial to turn into a macro or a single-cell formula. The spreadsheet has a about 10 different inputs (values a human enters in different cells of the spreadsheet) and then it outputs 5 independent calculations (in different 5 cells) based on that input. There calculation is using some pre-entered data in the spreadsheet (about 100 different constants) and doing some look-ups on them. Now I would like to use this whole spreadsheet as a formula on a different spreadsheet to calculate a set of input values and produce the corresponding set of output values. Imagine this as creating different table with 10 columns for the input variables and 5 columns for the outputs, then copying each input into the other spreadsheet and copying back the output in the results table. For instance: - A1, A2, A3,... A10 are cells where someone enters values - through a series of calculations B1, B2, B3, B4 and B5 are updated with some formulas Can I use the whole series of calculations from A1..A10 into B1..B5 without creating one massive huge formula or a VBA macro? I want to have a set of input values in 100 rows from A100, B100, C100,... J100 onward. Then do some Excel magic that will: 1. copy the values from A100...J100 into A1 to A10 2. wait for the result to appear in B1 to B5 3. copy the values from B1 to B5 into K100 to O100 4. repeat steps 1 to 3 for all rows from 100 to 150

  • Cannot Access Shared Folder From IIS

    From IIS I need to access a folder on another computer. Both servers are Window 2008 SP2, and they live in a Virtual Private Cloud on Amazon EC2. They reach one another by private IP -- they are in WORKGROUP, not a domain. I can access the shared folder manually when logged in to the client as Administrator. But IIS gets "access denied." Here's what I have done: Set File Sharing = ON Set Password Protected Sharing = OFF Set Public Folder Sharing = ON Shared the folder Added permission to the share: Everyone, Full Control Added permission to the share: NETWORK SERVICE, Full Control Verified that File & Printer Sharing is checked in Windows Firewall Opened port 445 to inbound traffic from local sources I tried adding <remote-machine-name>\NETWORK SERVICE to the share but it says it does not recognize the machine, which makes sense, I guess. As I said, from the other computer I have no trouble accessing the shared folder from my user account, but IIS is shut out. How does the file server even know the difference? I would assume that with Everyone given full control and password protected sharing turned off, it would not matter what the client user account is. In any case, how to solve? UPDATE: To clarify, I am not trying to serve up files on the share directly through IIS. Rather I am writing files to the share from my code (System.IO).

    Hi, In Xaml I can set a custom attached property using local:TestClass.TestProperty="1" An I can bind to a custom attached property using {Binding Path=(Namespace:[OwnerType].[PropertyName])} {Binding Path=(local:TestClass.TestProperty)} But how do I specify the namespace when I need to use a custom attached property in a SortDescription?     I'm new to Ninject so what I'm trying may not even be possible but I wanted to ask. I free-handed the below so there may be typos. Let's say I have an interface: public interface IPerson { string FirstName { get; set; } string LastName { get; set;} string GetFullName(); } And a concrete: public class Person : IPerson { public string FirstName { get; set; } public string LastName { get; set; } public string GetFullName() { return String.Concat(FirstName, " ", LastName); } } What I'm used to doing is something like this when I'm retrieving data from arrays or xml: public IEnumerable<IPerson> GetPeople(string xml) { XElement persons = XElement.Parse(xml); IEnumerable<IPerson> people = ( from person in persons.Descendants("person") select new Person { FirstName = person.Attribute("FName").Value, LastName = person.Attribute("LName").Value }).ToList(); return people; } I don't want to tightly couple the concrete to the interface in this manner. I haven't been able to find any information in regards to using Ninject with LINQ to Objects or with object initializers. I may be looking in the wrong places, but I've been searching for a day now with no luck at all. I was contemplating putting the kernel into an singleton instance and seeing if that would work, but I'm not sure that it will plus I've heard that passing your kernel around is a bad thing. I'm trying to implement this in a class library currently. If this is not possible, does anyone have any examples or suggestions as to what the best practice is in this case? Thanks in advance for the help. EDIT: Based on some of the answers I feel I should clarify. Yes, the example above appears short lived but it was simply an example of one piece that I was trying to do. Let's give a bigger picture. Say instead of XML I am gathering all my data through a 3rd party web service and I'm creating an interface for it, the data could be a defined object in the wsdl or it could sometimes be an xml string. IPerson could be used for both the Person object and a User object. I will be doing this inside of a separate class library, because it needs to be portable and will be used in other projects, and handing it to an MVC3 Web Application and the objects will be used in javascript as well.   • Don't display dynamic query in result

    Hi all, Is it possible to hide a dynamic query from the result sets provided from a Stored Procedure? I am using the @@rowcount of the dynamic query to set a variable that is used to determine whether another query runs or not. The other query is used by code that I cannot change - hence why I am changing the Stored Procedure. The dynamic query returns as the first result set from the Stored Procedure is now the result of the dynamic query which currently is "breaking" the calling code. Thanks in advance
