Is there a way for me to do this on Windows?   While running my program I get this Error: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::length_error' what(): basic_string::_S_create Abort trap I know that you can't do much without the code but I think that error is to deep in the code to copy all of it. Maybe I can figure it out if I understand what this error means. Is this a sign for an issue with reading or writing at the wrong memory address? Is there something I can do to get more information about the problem from my program?

  If you stick to managed code and standard coding (nothing that does unconventional things withe CLR) in .NET, is there any reason to manually invoke the GC or request to run finalizers on unreferenced objects? The reason I ask is thaty I have an app that grows huge in Working Memory set. I'm wondering if calling System.GC.Collect(); and System.GC.RunFinalizers(); would help, and if it would force anything that wouldn't be done by the CLR normally anyways.

I am trying to save an AVI file using the Video For Windows API in C++, when I run the AviSaveOptions() function, the dialog opens as a thin unclickable strip at the corner of the screen. Would it have anything to do with the language (Hebrew)? maybe with the vfw driver itself? what might cause a windows dialog window to be distorted/invisible? thanks Roey

  I've checked out the man pages and did some searching but can't find info on ways to have rsync skip files greater than a certain size. We're doing rsync to an offline location and when someone puts a hug video file, the rsync jobs run into work hours. I've looked at the 'exclude' syntax and didn't see anything for excluding based on file size. Can I do it with rsync or should I look for other offline synching alternatives?

I can't use global-scope variables to store information because multiple instances of the .dll can exist which share memory. How do I create a class (for re-usability purposes in other plugins) containing 2 dimensional array and other variables the content of which is to be shared between functions? If that is possible, how would I read and write the data from the function in the framework where I do the processing?
